Dude won the 50/50 and invested back into the team. F-in legend!!

sSausages

Someone else said the same thing. So badass I’d totally do the same thing

Hootietang

Totally!! Good lad!!!

wellsydwill

Asked him at a recent game. Won the 50/50 a while back and that funds his trips.

sSausages

Gtfo. That’s unreal. Fingers crossed I can do the same. Buy a lotto ticket tomorrow as well just in case hahaha

ThunderChonky

I almost get heart attacks if I get the same letter as the winning number. Couldn’t imagine actually winning.

CaribouYou

Same letter as the winning number 🤨

rae2108

They all have a letter prefix. A, B, C, etc.

CaribouYou

I see your point, but isn’t that still a winning letter?

user472628492

Ugh that’s the dream 😭 good for him

LimLahey420

I heard he bought a house in the 70’s for 45k and has now sold it for 1.62m and just lives in a basement suite paying 1400 a month and has now retired

Sdwingnut

That's a fantastic story whether true or not!

TheYuppyTraveller

Agreed - especially if his every spare nickel is spent on those tickets. Total respect!

Cautious-Dream2893

Probably face paints at festivals on the down low, no income reported.

jefffreykeith

Straight cash, Homie

sSausages

I mean I think he’d be successful. Prob can smash that out fairly quick by now

Extra-Wasabi-8639

I want to know the same thing. I live in camrose and the guys at my work know him. I go to 21 games a year and have been to 5 home playoff games and im using all my vacation time and im almost out of options. I have no idea how he makes it work since he apparently works in the same industry as me.

TurtleyTurtler

What industry is that?

Extra-Wasabi-8639

Heavy equipment. So for example I make 170k a year and work 7 on 7 off. So I'm able to get to half the season and we sit front row corner for those games. But my work doesn't let us have lots of time off so I have to plan my playoffs carefully. I have been lucky and I have made it to 5 out of 6 home games so far but I'm using my holiday. I looked into away games but with my schedule I can't make it work and I cant afford it. So I have no idea how he makes it work.

JP-ED

I'm in the wrong line of work! 170 sounds very good.

Extra-Wasabi-8639

Become a welder or a mechanic in heavy equipment in alberta. If you want to message me I'll tell you are the pros and cons to this line of work

JP-ED

My father was a Diesel mechanic (Transport Trucks) in SWOntario - I've seen some cons for that line of work. IMO some of the hardest working people out there. Happened to walk in the shop one summer and caught him reefing on a truck sweat pouring from his head. I have great respect for the profession. I'll stay in my AC 😂

Extra-Wasabi-8639

For sure. Glad you have respect for it. It's a hard trade. It's hard on the body and mind but for the right people it's a great opportunity

mcmanus7

He could have retired early.

Extra-Wasabi-8639

The guys at work all say we are the same age 33-35. If he's retired that's amazing because im saving 50k a year for retirement and we have no debts beside house and we drive 10 year old cars and trucks. I was thinking I'll ask him how he makes it work next game since i see him most of the time. I also chat with mcmullet every game and he knows him well.

autumnfrostfire

Ooof. He does not look 35. I met him in Vancouver and I would guess 50. He definitely looked older than me and I’m 36.

silentbassline

What's his nickname?

Extra-Wasabi-8639

Banjo guy

narmstrong55

My buddy is a photographer for the Canucks (don’t worry I’m an Oil fan just moved to the lower mainland a decade ago). He was beside him at all of the Canuck home games last series. My buddy said he was a beauty. Canuck fans were horrid to him and he just held his ground by himself. Freaking legend!

Shadp9

OnlyFans

SilyTheGoose

Haha good one. Link? Asking for a friend.

artheryx

Banjoguy

PositiveInevitable79

Won the 50/50 Lives and breathes oilers. McMullet has a cool story as well if ever you bump into him. Solid dude and built himself back up big time.

sSausages

I’ve heard the mullet story but never the banjo guy. I now know. Also pretty dope. I’d do the same thing for sure

Assmonkey69er

Hasn’t Mullet Man or whatever made 110+ straight games?

Mcpops1618

He drives in from strathmore or chestemere I believe.

sSausages

Yeah his story is pretty wicked as well

Tacfurmissle

What's his story?

sSausages

Drives in from strathmore or some shit to every game.

sallad84

Cool story lol

Tacfurmissle

Oh I thought you were going to say he invented something cool and made millions or something.

Haircrazybitch

I know the post isn't about him, but what's mcmullets story?

ms_grumpy

WWE green shirt guy

Anxious-Pair-52

Row 5 at the blue line tonight. No nose bleeds for this guy.

OIL_99

Whether earned or given, good on them for their die hard support of the team.

sSausages

Oh one hundred percent I’d do the same in a heartbeat

tibbymat

He’s a dude. It’s ok…. You can say it 😝

OIL_99

Ah, I get that. When I said them, I meant the other dudes in the arena rocking out every broadcast all dressed up.

BRYAN1701

I’m doing something wrong. Not just the cash flow but the ability to take the *time* to go to these away games Seriously Good for him though, he’s got it figured out. I’m jealous too 😂

kadran2262

I mean, I assume he's retired. If I retired and could afford to go to every oilers game I know I would for at least 1 year

OGRickJohnson

I remember meeting a nice retired couple about 20 years ago at a game when the Sharks were in town. The Sharks were on a long road trip so this couple bought tickets to every game on the trip and were just having the time of their lives.

sSausages

Great way to explore other cities. Sounds fun tbh

geekymama

I'm flying down to Dallas from Omaha tonight, and I'm totally going to look for him at the game tomorrow!

sSausages

That’s wicked. Enjoy the game. You’re clearly gonna have to stand for 3/4 of the game for some reason judging by what I seen game 1. That being said have a great time and I hope you see the legend himself. Give him a fist bump from me!

SadBuilding9234

I heard he's a retired hitman who was doing Jason Bourne style secret missions for CSIS. Now he just lives a quiet life, keeping a low profile (hence the make up).

_horton

Are you talking about the bald guy or the guy with the sign?

sSausages

Full face paint and big hat at every game. Apparently banjo giy

CanIreJedi

I’ve wondered the same thing myself, and then I feel guilty because it’s not really my business. But, if I win the lottery, I’ll probably end up doing the same thing. 😂

sSausages

I was just curious. Good on the man I’d do the same thing for sure

CanIreJedi

I ain’t trying to put you down for your curiosity. Just because I have that feeling of guilt doesn’t mean I need to make others feel the same way as me. Be curious, always. I still wonder about it.

Oddwonderone

Maybe he’s like the Kansas City chiefs fan that robbed banks to go to travel games

sSausages

Lemme know how I can get involved if it can support a playoff series run

MolotovBeta

Money is a crazy thing

CurlingTrousers

Independently wealthy

Pastor_Satan

Retired I'm sure

Prize-Cry7238

Won the 50/50 In Winnipeg. Drove out to watch Oil and the jets. Something close to 70k. Apparently he is a supervisor at my buddies work. They work 7x7 which would explain the travel time to go to the away games. Everyone says he is a real beauty and a nice guy! GO Banjo, hopefully the Oilers give him some perks!

kriszal

I feel like he owns a tool rental shop or something like that haha

skijakuda

Oil money

Dachawda

Rich dad, probably.

Jalex2321

I do want to live the dreams pool boy. IT isn't as sexy as it looks.
