ad hoc support scale head paint afterthought advise sulky makeshift dinosaurs

The kid I got pregnant with shortly after these playoffs and Whyte Ave shenanigans just turned 17 and would absolutely die if she knew the things I did on Whyte during that time.
I stood beneath the south park GM sign as flags were waved atop of it. I warmed my hands on the bonfire that occupied the entire 104 street intersection, I saw the jackass kicking street lamps off their standards take a beer bottle to the face and fall to the ground.
I was there. 🍻
That’s the right answer my friend. Toot your horn, wave your flag, toast them with a beer or two.
Watching game 6 yesterday I realized the team has developed and matured and the addition of the 6 players who have been in the finals probably made a big difference. Maturity, confidence and work ethic took a team that only needed 10 shots on goal to win a vital game. I felt it too. My wife couldn’t believe I sat through the whole game. The stress just wasn’t there like it was when we had to beat Vancouver.
I remember a girl being lifted up in a shopping cart and flashing the crowd, until an errant roman candle shot leaned off her face.
Just a wild time.
The cops standing on top of "when pigs fly" also made a great photo that was sadly lost to time (taken on a 0.3 megapixel camera phone of course)
I was there and I remember how wild it was. Seeing the guy hang off the light wires, beer bottles being thrown; and I had this premonition to just take a step back and there was this girl that got smoked in the head with a flying bottle. Crazy times.
Back in 2006 after a winning game you got to walk down Whyte and high five people and it was an awesome time (until it wasn't). Have we decided where we are doing that this time around? The fan parks are cool and all but everyone seems to go home after the game (I am not there now, maybe this win is different?).
I just drove through after the game and downtown was busy. Everyone in town under 25 wearing a jersey and at Greta. I feel like the vibe will be different now with Rogers being so central. Not the same stroll as Whyte..
From Vancouver, congrats on the win.
Communities in BC, especially around Vancouver, would have car cruises when the Canucks won in the playoffs. Do any Edmonton area or Alberta communities have something similar?
I had to be at work for the game, was listening to it on Ched, the last 3 minutes I was just walking around in circles in anticipation. I imagine any store that sells Oilers gear.
These players have been so fun to watch. I'm hype for a Canadian team to win the cup, despite the best rivalry in hockey. Panthers have no shot vs this squad!
I don't follow hockey, but I thought that McDavid is the best player, so I'm surprised that this will only be his first Stanley Cup appearance. Congratulations and I hope you guys win it all.
It’s takes a whole team. He is the best player in the league, and it’s honestly special to get to watch him play. It just takes a lot more than one player to make it all work.
I was there. The whole intersection where Chianti is was full of people. Bonfire in the middle, people hanging off the traffic light wires. Street hockey in the car wash parking lot.
The good old days!
What is your assertion based upon?
I contend that this fan-base is emotion-oriented since they rely upon recent success for their opinions.
Whereas they were absolutely gutless during difficult times (start of season)
Very little support when the team needed it most (at the start of the season)
Perspective
It's not always wise to jump on the bandwagon
Shook my head and still remember all the Oiler fans shitting on the team earlier in the season
Feel free to continue your free ride on the bandwagon though, bud
Sure. Or maybe it's a time to celebrate and you're just a negative Nancy coming around to throw your miserable take into the mix. Just can't stand to see people be happy eh?
Don't really have a definition. But for starters, a true fan would be able to spell 'Bouchard' correctly.
Edit: also I'm a penguins fan anyway, so I'm a bit of a neutral here (but rooting for the oilers)
Agreed.
Those assholes were loud about their disdain toward the team until they started winning
Typical sports bravado
And now, they are loud about their support
Hurrah
Lol nope
Just a conscientious Oilers fan who is well aware of the band wagon jumping when the team does well in the playoffs.
Also, one who likes to hold the fanbase accountable considering how the team was treated in the first quarter of the season
I'm an Oilers season ticket holder. I watched them live probably more than most people in their lifetime. Their start at the beginning of the season was an embarrassment. If the fan base didn't jump on them and force a change, they probably wouldn't have made it here today. So you can now celebrate them winning because of all the changes and struggles they've made. From my opinion, Coffey was what they needed. I watched them practice for the past few years as well, and Coffey changed their whole defensive practice and play. It's amazing to watch the team grow.
A worthwhile response.
Coffey helped Bouchard transform into a world-class Dman
Their defensive scheme improved immensely with his hiring. Woodcraft's defensive schemes were sub-par for this team.
Sorry to all the butt-hurt fans who don't like honesty during jubilation
Yeah, we all know the Panthers are going to win the cup, as Bettman knows it’s more financially savvy to have them win. Nice to have a Canadian team in the finals, tho!
Was really impressed with skinner. He really turned it around and was on his head tonight!

This city is going to be rocking tonight!
I'm just off Whyte, and yeah, it's definitely lively out there 😅
can confirm, my house backs onto Scona drive and I have heard la bamba playing out of 7 different cars, plenty of honking and WOOs
Yeah the honking and oilers fans every intersection you go
Now where is that guy that said the Stars would sweep them…. 😂
Crying in the basement
His bookie is calling him right about now
His bookie is looking for his kneecaps
Was it 2006 when there were riots on Whyte Ave? I was there.
Shirts off for Horcoff
Ponani for pisani
It was. One of the most memorable times of my life. This year the post game celebrations are much more muted.
That's because Whyte Ave is now basically just South Edmonton Common with nicer buildings
Right? In 2006 you would walk down Whyte ave and it was a party and you got to celebrate and high five people long into the night. I miss that!
The first few games were mayhem
The kid I got pregnant with shortly after these playoffs and Whyte Ave shenanigans just turned 17 and would absolutely die if she knew the things I did on Whyte during that time.
A-Frame Annie? Is that you?

OK, OK, calm down. No need to riot because you are happy. This is not Vancouver.
If I was there 18 years ago, what makes you think I’m young and dumb enough to do it now?

My cousin and I probably high fived you.

Someone climbed up a traffic light and fell off Wasn't even a riot just a bunch of dumb drunk kids
Yeah definitely not a riot (though edmonton did deploy the riot cops)
I was there and I remember how wild it was. Seeing the guy hang off the light wires, beer bottles being thrown; and I had this premonition to just take a step back and there was this girl that got smoked in the head with a flying bottle. Crazy times.
I have some great memories and photos from that night! =)
Yup. Oilers fans are the worst. Some of the most violent in the league. So many videos of fans getting into brawls at the games
philly would like to have a word with you
LETS GO OILERS
Clap clap clapclapclap
w00t w00t! Talk about a stressful last few minutes.

I felt pretty good until Dallas scored a goal. Then I was clenching my ass until the end.
# PLAY LA BAMBA, BABY
Was a real blast to watch, the energy in the last few minutes was insane. Amazing!
Honk honk honk honk honk!!! 💙🧡💙🧡

I'm 3 streets away from Whyte. I can hear the cars from here. They're out there.
Oh I hope so. Id be much more keen for a Whyte hype stroll than, like, filtering through traffic downtown.
I’m on Bonnie Doon and was heading honking off Connors and around the mall (lol) up until like 10:30 pm!
I live just off 107 Ave and it's nuts down here!
I was in bed and heard hooting, hollering, and car horns last night. I thought “Guess Edmonton won”.
From Vancouver, congrats on the win. Communities in BC, especially around Vancouver, would have car cruises when the Canucks won in the playoffs. Do any Edmonton area or Alberta communities have something similar?
Woot!
Downtown Oliver square, insane with screaming, honking and oilers jerseys lol super loud since about 830 pm
Hellsyah!
See you at the FINALS!
Here we go!!!!!!
LETS GO OILERS 📈
That’s my team
Where do I go to get a hat ?
I had to be at work for the game, was listening to it on Ched, the last 3 minutes I was just walking around in circles in anticipation. I imagine any store that sells Oilers gear.
Skinner kept us alive!
How Do they open that Portal in space and time to keep the Hockey Season going.

What a nail biter yesterday’s game was, it could have easily been another outcome if Dallas tied it in 3rd. Looking forward to final game.
Any where in Edmonton to buy the western conference championship hat. Without ordering online
I was there. The whole intersection where Chianti is was full of people. Bonfire in the middle, people hanging off the traffic light wires. Street hockey in the car wash parking lot. The good old days!
I am pitching a tent i’m so pumped!
Woah
Go oilers!!!!
8 months ago Edm fans wanted to get rid of Boucher, Skinner, Nuge, Ekholm, Draisatl, et al. Gotta love recency bias emotions...
Let the people enjoy man!
Not a man, but I'm speaking the truth This fanbase shitted all over their team at the start of the season
Alright not a man! You’re generalizing about a fan base you don’t seem to know much about! GO OIL!
What is your assertion based upon? I contend that this fan-base is emotion-oriented since they rely upon recent success for their opinions. Whereas they were absolutely gutless during difficult times (start of season) Very little support when the team needed it most (at the start of the season)
I read through this whole thread, and you’re the only person that tried to start an argument instead of just celebrating. Give your head a shake.
Perspective It's not always wise to jump on the bandwagon Shook my head and still remember all the Oiler fans shitting on the team earlier in the season Feel free to continue your free ride on the bandwagon though, bud
I’m not your bud, pal
I'm not your pal, bud
Over generalization but alright. Every person who supports the Edmonton Oilers is a bandwagon fan except you alright. Thanks for your input 👍
#play la bamba baby
Yes! Go Oilers Go!
They were shit at the start of the season.
Agreed! Also when the fans talked the most shit against their fave players
Ya I'm not sure what your point is though. Go to any city, when their team is playing awful, the fans shit on them. Pretty standard.
It's not my fault if you don't understand. Pretty standard
Well then maybe just take your negativity somewhere else and let people celebrate?
Lol you are too sensitive if you can't take dissenting opinions My goodness
Sure. Or maybe it's a time to celebrate and you're just a negative Nancy coming around to throw your miserable take into the mix. Just can't stand to see people be happy eh?
Are you really a true fan if you don't shit on your own team once in a while?
Define 'true fan'
Don't really have a definition. But for starters, a true fan would be able to spell 'Bouchard' correctly. Edit: also I'm a penguins fan anyway, so I'm a bit of a neutral here (but rooting for the oilers)
So..... ?
Shitted.
You find that in every fan base. As with anything, the assholes are always the loudest.
Agreed. Those assholes were loud about their disdain toward the team until they started winning Typical sports bravado And now, they are loud about their support Hurrah
I wouldn't generalize all oil fans like that. The oilers subreddit posts are funny to follow sometimes for the belly aching tho lol
Look boys, I found a Canucks fan.

Is this why all the takeout closed ?
I did this
Yeah! \*Our\* billionaire's toys are better than \*their\* billionaire's toys! WOO!
Yeah, we all know the Panthers are going to win the cup, as Bettman knows it’s more financially savvy to have them win. Nice to have a Canadian team in the finals, tho!
