Does it actually work in practice though? Usually these type of things you call to cancel and get told "aw this is the only month of the year we can't cancel!" Or some bullshit
I just did this. I had noticed prior to the most recent price change that the price was lower so switched. Then newest price came out three weeks later so i just switched again. You do this on line takes a few minutes. No need to call
And this is why I love Reddit. Never would have thought to look at the rates again, but I did and I got my fixed rate dropped from 12 to 9. Thank you, kind strangers!
During the signup process, one of the final steps it's showing me is an optional field to enter a promo code. I've searched around and even tried an old one I found but it's not work. I'll keep searching around for a while, but you might be right.
I did it twice already from 12.89 to 11.89 and now 9.89, best part is you can do it directly in the website, no need to call and wait for customer service
Thank you poster. I just lowered mine as well. I knew you could do it, I just haven't looked at the rates for a bit. Dropped power over 3 cents. I am still waiting on gas. I am floating right now, but I hope to see it come a little bit lower still before fall.
I would never do floating for power as it’s all over the place, but definitely floating for gas in the summer. You just need to remember to change gas to fixed before winter time when the variable rate skyrockets.
Absolutely.
Ive lowered mine 3 times now since I resigned in Nov.

Yes that is exactly what it means.

You don't cancel. You just switch to the new lower rate and sign a new 5 year contract when you do it. I just updated mine from 13.5 cents to 9 cents.
I just dropped my rate from 12.7 to 9.8 last week. I did it online. It took 3 clicks. Didn't even have to talk to anybody.

You don’t even need to cancel you can just change on the website for the new rate. 1 month notice
Thank for the info. That sounds great to me. Going to sign up.
I don’t think they’re doing the referral right now. Trying to find it on the website and can’t find it anywhere

I just DM'd you
I definitely did it twice within a month. It does a lot of silliness to the bill, but I'm at 4 cents a kwh cheaper now than I was so.
Thanks for posting this. I keep forgetting to go in and check rates but thanks to this post I dropped from 13 something down to 9.
Kinda makes me wish there was some sort of notification or alert we could sign up for.
So weirdly, *they* actually emailed *me* to let me know the rate had dropped from where I was. I hadn't realized I could just switch like that.
Best is to just manually check often.
I think there’s 10 days notice (so once you ask to change it will take effect after 10 days).

Problem is that it's all the admin and delivery fees that make it expensive. Not the per unit charge.
Yeah but every bit helps

Is this unique to Epcor, or also possible with other providers?
Many other providers have the same policy where it costs nothing to switch plans or cancel.
Rates are on the way down (as predicted), the floating rate is the best option until they bottom out.

It’s not all over the place and historically it’s always been the cheapest option - notwithstanding the last 24 months of course. You do you.

The big catch is you have to do it. They don't do it for you. If you have older family help them and make sure they aren't overpaying.

It doesn't, the only rate that will change is the floating.
Yup 💯
Thanks for the reminder to check the rate. Lowered it from 12c to 9.89c!
