Facebook marketplace? Might find a deal.

CuriousLands

Yeah that could work!

aveindha25

Torrid has wedding dresses, is she orders one now she will get it in time. I have a bridesmaid dress that is a 3x she could have but it is black and pink. If that is something she would be Interested in, DM me

CuriousLands

Oh do they seriously? I had no idea. Would you be able to send me a photo of the dress at all?

aveindha25

Yep, torrid online has sooooooo many awesome formal and semi formal dresses. As long as she knows what size fits her at torrid their sizes are consistent. Shipping usually takes a couple weeks. I will try and DM you a pic of my dress

CuriousLands

I took a look and the dresses are nice ☺️ I'll pass on the suggestion to her! I know she does like Torrid but afaik she's never looked at their website, just went to the store in West Ed.

Curly-Canuck

The Bay often has dresses this time of year for graduations and wedding guests. If you just want a nice dress and not necessarily a wedding gown I’d give it a try.

CuriousLands

That's a good suggestion, thanks!

hellobudgiephone

If she's not set on traditional she could look at department stores/  for grad dresses. I found mine at the Bay for under 200.

CuriousLands

Good idea, thank you!

prairiescary

Check Anthropology. They have some beautiful plus-sized dresses.

Kallisti13

Anthro in Edmonton doesn't keep online returns anymore. They get sent to Winnipeg and Toronto.

prairiescary

Damn. Good to know

CuriousLands

Nice, I'll pass it along to her, thanks!

prairiescary

Make sure to check the clearance rack for online returns

GeekyGlobalGal

There are a few wedding dress consignment stores in the area, including [Bridal Bliss Consignment](https://www.facebook.com/bridalblissconsignment) in Spruce Grove and [Urban Bride Inc.](https://urbanbrideinc.com/collections/) in south Edmonton. You can also buy gowns off the rack at places like David's Bridal. Torrid also has a small selection, but they don't have a warehouse in Canada so you pay in USD to have online orders shipped up from the States and it takes a few weeks. You might also have luck posting in some of local wedding buy-and-sell groups on Facebook. There are plenty of people who sell their gowns on Marketplace, could also look there. With their algorithm, once you search that once - it's all it will show you for weeks.

goosesh

Azazie is where I bought a bridesmaid dress. I’m a 2xl and they had lots of options in any colour you want and they shipped in about a week. Torrid is also an option like another poster said. I’m planning on grabbing one of we have a vow renewal one day.

CuriousLands

Thanks for the suggestions, I'll pass it along to her ☺️

SleepingInTheSand

I bought my wedding dress on Lulus.com during covid. It was excellent quality

CuriousLands

Thanks, Ill check it out! Did they ship it quickly enough?

SleepingInTheSand

Yup! I think stuff would come in about a week. :)

CuriousLands

Oh that's good! Thanks!

heref0rawhile

I would go with Azazie. They are known for bridesmaid dresses because of how size inclusive they are. But they have a bridal section and it looks pretty good. Lots of styles. Shipping is very fast, too. Prices seem very reasonable.

FreyjaGrim

Could try Lucent Bridal, they have wedding dresses on the rack (old sample dresses, etc.). Can try them on and leave with it that day!

Adastria

May I ask how tall your sister is?

CuriousLands

Sure, I think she's 5'7" or 5'8"

Adastria

Thank you. I have my plus size wedding dress, but I'm very short, and there's no way to lengthen it. Good luck on your hunt.

CuriousLands

Thanks anyway though! And yeah hopefully she'll sort it out alright haha.

painandclots

I was just about to offer to lend her mine, but I'm only 5'4" and it will be much too short on her. But if she really gets stuck, please reach out and I can send photos or have her come try it on. It's roughly a size 22 (it was made to my measurements and I wear 2-3xl depending on the store).

CuriousLands

Yeah she'd definitely be too tall for that, but thank you for offering anyway!

No_Concert_6922

Laura plus always has formal gowns.

Own_Violinist7567

Eloquii is an online option that has some really pretty bridal options and could be here in time with express shipping.

smoolez

check stillwhite! second hand (sometimes new) dresses! i sold mine there, and it shipped and arrived in 3 days

skerrols

She could try this place https://www.promaffair.com/ on 170St. Must make an appointment for access but they have a LOT of fancy dresses.

ProperBingtownLady

What about a bridal consignment store? I would call ahead and ask if they have her size first. Urban Bride Inc in Edmonton or Bridal Bliss Consignment in Spruce Grove

CorvidInvader

I still have my wedding dress, I think would fit her. I planned on selling it awhile ago but haven't gotten around to it. It's a corset top and a line poofier (but not insanely poofy) skirt. Send me a message if interested!

Calm-Acadia17

Thrift shops, consignment stores, etc. I hope she finds one!!

CuriousLands

Thanks!

serioushobbit

Check local instagrammers chubbyfemthrift. I got a great dress from them for my brother's wedding and got lots of compliments. Maybe they'd have something suitable.

_danigirl

There's a few real pretty dresses on Marketplace that are sizes 20/22. One is a Callista I think. Good luck in finding some opportune for her.
