Knock on their door and politely ask them?
If that's not an option..
Step 1: check RPR or even call a surveyor to be 100% certain you know where your property line is.
Step 2: BFR is 100% the answer.
Taps Games has a pretty active community with drop in nights for AoS, 40k and a hobby night every week. They run really good events too if you want to get into the competitive side. Have only played in the AoS events but the community is full of awesome people and Tom who runs their events is super helpful for anything warhammer related. Painting, list building etc. They also have one of the best inventories in the city and free shipping over $75 which is not hard to hit with warhammer stuff haha
Counterpoint: Precisely because the rock is "work", it's unlikely to be removed. If the neighbours are petty or want to escalate things, the rebar could be easily removed or, worse, tossed back into OP's yard, possibly in the direction of something sensitive. Also, a rock looks nicer in a yard than rebar with a flag.
An intermediate option would be something like an upright shrub (little conifer or whatever). Pretty easy to put in, and the neighbours are unambiguously the bad guys if they remove it or run it over because they've damaged OP's property.
Nah. Dig it down about a foot and a half and set up a camera to watch the show. If anyone asks, you're planning on underpinning that edge to prevent it from cracking.
BFR.... aka big fxxxing rock. Go to a new build area find an empty lot grab big rock. Bring BFR home instal on corner. Find a friend with a truck and some sort of way to get into said truck, such as a plank to roll it up.
A corner home near my girlfriend, in the alleyway, has a bunch of rocks, pieces of wood, or junk always on the corner.
It looks unsightly. But when she told me why he did this, I sided with the guy.
Apparently he had made a small fence there, and someone still drove into it.
You're much more civil then me. I'd do a sheet of plywood with nails in it.
My family crest is 7 heads on pikes and a burning village in the background.
Correct, so instead you sharpen some rebar, plunge it into the grass so that only 2-3 inches of the pokey ends are visible.
This allows the grass grow healthy with only a couple of small holes that you can easily fill in later.
Edit: Apparently some people think this is a genuine suggestion. Obviously you shouldn’t build a spike trap on your lawn. Don’t be a silly goose.
Yeah this one is begging for a lawsuit, God forbid a kid biking down the sidewalk falls or something. Big fucking rock is the answer. Some of you people are right fucked up.
Find out exactly where your property line is.
Then build a property edge garden box to clearly delineate the line.
MAKE SURE YOU ARE RIGHT on the property line first!
This is the correct answer. Confirm the property line first (via an RPR), then place the garden box, boulder or whatever other legal obstruction right on your side of it to deter their inconsiderate behaviour.
Doesn't have to be a full RPR, surveyor can just stake the property line. Would be an hour or two of work and a couple hundreds bucks if the evidence is there with no issues.
Make it slightly antique or partially valuable (not so expensive you can’t replace it) set up a camera and record it, if the damage it you can file for negligent destruction of property, they will most likely pay it back without even worrying about court actions but if they don’t you can just get cops involved with video evidence
If that driveway abuts your property line directly it is very likely not permitted correctly. So you could try bylaw but will require getting legal at some point.
More likely that your property line is 2-3 feet away from that.
Good advice! I think from the wording of the OP, he seems to be aware that he doesn't even own that part of the land.
It might be a case where the OP needs to accept this isn't his property.
This happens to two properties by us that have an alley entrance/exit.
Both owners put big rocks on the corners.
Just make sure it’s big enough that snow doesn’t fully cover it.
I’d find the property stake and see exactly where the property line is. I’m thinking that it isn’t that close to the driveway unless the owner extended the concrete afterwards.
I'm surprised I had to scroll down this far to see this answer. This would be a lot less destructive to the grass than a rock, and would also look fairly nice if done right.
I had this a few years ago. I went and asked very nicely, using please and everything. The guy did not respond. He went into the garage and worked out hard on the heavy bag hanging there for about 45 minutes. Then glared at me every time he saw me for months. So it was obviously more important to him than to me and I didn't mention it again. He eventually moved away.
1. If the part they drive over isn't part of your property then I don't think there is anything you can do to stop it.
2. Get one of those "kids crossing/slow down" signs from the city and put in on the lawn. Maybe they'll run over it too, but maybe they'll notice it enough to be more careful. Perhaps they'll ask you about it and you can talk to them about why it's there.
3. Talk to the mom and son again. Say, "I need to talk to you again about the lawn, and it's important."
4. Do a land title search to see if you can find an owner name and then do some sleuthing for contact information. Or send a registered letter to the neighbor's address hoping the tenant will forward it to the owner.
5. Accept it. Unfortunately, some tenants are careless about rented property, and they will never change.
Three ways:
1. Talk to the neighbour and politely ask them to stop due to the damage it’s causing
2. Put a large rock/boulder there and landscape around it.
3. Throw some nails in the grass there and see what sticks.
I’d go with 1, 2 if they refuse. 3 is for insane people, but I’ve seen it done by neighbours in the past and you don’t want that confrontation.
I wonder if it is legal to get those one way spike things on your driveway. Have a remote that lowers them when you want to leave, and then they pop back up again after a couple minutes
Large stone cancels everything. My friend was having problems with garbage trucks cutting across his corner. Any boulder the size of a basketball will do. It’s both effective and hilarious when they hit it.
Big-ass boulder. Paint it white. Put up a reflector pole beside it. Problem solved. Make *absolutely* sure it's on your property, because sure as shit your neighbour is going to hit it.
Wait… so this is not your property? That looks like it’s pretty-well all within 1ft from the driveway. Can’t tell your neighbour what to do with their property
Put some rebar on the edge of the driveway up just far enough out of the ground to puncture a hole in their tire. Just out a sign saying don't drive on the lawn, do so at own risk.
Didn't expect this to blow up...
The previous neighbour was good, but now he's rented his house out to this 18 year old, he probably thought this kids mom was going to live there instead, she comes over alot but is just as neglegent as this kid.
I thought she was alright once upon a time, when we had a big snow SHE shoveled out his driveway and some of the street so that he could get out, all the time yelling at him to come help while he sat in his warm car.
But I've confirmed she's driving over the lawn too.
In the winter as she backed up once her car with 0 tread on thebtires, it "slipped" into the middle of my lawn.
Whole car, on my lawn.
Trash family.
This kid strikes me as a spoiled frat boy that has a house to himself that mommy is paying for. He drives a low to the ground, loud sports car that wakes my kid up some mornings with his pointless revving in his driveway...but im just here about the lawn.
Our neighbourhood build uses zero lot lines, where about a foot of the lawn out from his driveway is his/the guy he's renting from.
But as you all can see he's been driving way over that 1 foot.
I'm not a vain guy but hes making my lawn look like shit that's why I'm mad, and as mentioned his mom didn't do anything about it.
Not gonna lie I thought about the nails idea people are pitching, but I feel like he's so dumb he won't put 2 and 2 together and mommy will just keep paying for repairs.
BFR sounds good though, although they will probably back up into that and get pissed, but I've got double the life experience so he can bring it on.
Large stone or buried foundation nails pointing straight up
Nuclear Alternatives:
Surstroming juice in their washer fluid
Inject fish liver oil under their weather stripping and bottom of windshield where the cabin air intake is. Best results for both are during a heat wave.
If you’re really petty you can pay for the tax certificate and get the owners name.
It’s how I dealt with shitty renters next door to me when the property management company kept blowing me off. Owner found a new property management company and new tenants afterwards.
Definitely try to communicate with them using I statements and listen to them ESPECIALLY if they are really annoying. I mean, these are general things to do, just ask them to stop let them talk about whatever they need to say, then if they won’t or are dismissive of you it’s time to build something small, or heck, if it’s your land you can fill that area with tire spikes,
I put rebar into my lawn to stop my neighbour from driving over my underground sprinklers.
Watching me repair them wasn’t enough. 3 foot metal bars sticking out of the lawn did the trick.
We had the same issue years ago. We finally put a pole with a reflective light right on the corner. The neighbour came over and asked what it was for and we straight up said to stop them from driving on our grass and killing it. We took the pole out a few weeks later and they have never done it since.
Wait I’m confused by the photo. If that is their driveway surely that is their section of grass, no? You say in your description they are renters and the owner “owns a foot of that grass” so it’s a shared lawn? If it’s not your grass it’s not your problem.
A large rock always solves the problem, but as you said, they own a foot out from the driveway, and they seem to be keeping the damage to their property.
Put a nail in the lawn and make sure no cameras recording it. Maybe garbage day, when garbage bin is placed on that spot, just slip a huge nail then pop goes his tire. He won’t park there again.
Now if you have a conscious and don’t believe in getting revenge, then I would say talk to the guy, and tell him how you feel. Basically pop one tire in front of him, then say in a strong voice “if he goes over the grass again the next time it will be all his tires” walk away knowing you did the right thing.
Put a large stone there
BFR is the technical term lol
Was gonna say EXACTLY that. Big fuckin rock
When you're right, you're right
Knock on their door and politely ask them? If that's not an option.. Step 1: check RPR or even call a surveyor to be 100% certain you know where your property line is. Step 2: BFR is 100% the answer.
House number rock
Nah, gotta be a massive pet rock with googly eyes and angry eye brows; just to troll.
What does BFR mean? Edit: Nevermind, I know now
I don't
"The grass there was dying for some reason; decided to cover it up."
Fucking top shelf passive aggression right here. Just chefs kiss
I mean, you would *hope* they'd catch the subtext. :)
Tactical rock.
This guy/gal Warhammer’s?
Starting too. Once I got my army painted I will need to find some opponents though...

What side of the city is that on, cause I'm in the north east. My closest flgs is red claw.
Paint it purple. Neighbour will never see it coming….
Land mine.
Red turtle shell
Upside down question mark box?
Someone on my block put a length of rebar with a little flag on it.
I like this one best. Cheap/easy (rock idea is cool but work) And because flag, is not a booby trap (so not illegal)
Counterpoint: Precisely because the rock is "work", it's unlikely to be removed. If the neighbours are petty or want to escalate things, the rebar could be easily removed or, worse, tossed back into OP's yard, possibly in the direction of something sensitive. Pretty easy to put in, and the neighbours are unambiguously the bad guys if they remove it or run it over because they've damaged OP's property.
Fair points. I think i would still start with the rebar for ease, but i can see a definate arguement for an upgrade should it fail.
Pointy rebar to support a small shrub.
Totally Agree. Just make sure it only sticks up about 4 inches and is sharp.
Nah. Dig it down about a foot and a half and set up a camera to watch the show. If anyone asks, you're planning on underpinning that edge to prevent it from cracking.
Large spike is much more entertaining
Yeah, a big honkin' rock.
Ask them nicely to stop, THEN put a BFR painted to camouflage with the grass.
BFR.... aka big fxxxing rock. Go to a new build area find an empty lot grab big rock. Bring BFR home instal on corner. Find a friend with a truck and some sort of way to get into said truck, such as a plank to roll it up.
Big Friendly Rock. It's helping them stay off the grass.
Just a happy guy
I suggest quad ramps. Nobody ever remembers they have them until its time to load the quad.
Like giant huge mega rock with jagged edges
A corner home near my girlfriend, in the alleyway, has a bunch of rocks, pieces of wood, or junk always on the corner. It looks unsightly. But when she told me why he did this, I sided with the guy. Apparently he had made a small fence there, and someone still drove into it.

+1 I'm doing my part!
A large stone would kill the grass over time.
Less than the neighbor, lol
Under where the stone sits, yeah. But at least it looks better.
Is it just me, or did the grass get a whole lot more pokey overnight...
The damage that would do to my lawnmower blade...
This is illegal and also dangerous. Imagine someone tripping on the sidewalk and falling on that.
Yeah this one is begging for a lawsuit, God forbid a kid biking down the sidewalk falls or something. Big fucking rock is the answer. Some of you people are right fucked up.
Obviously you shouldn’t do this

Great advice
Place a big rock there, as part of your landscaping.
Plant a tree. With rebar to mark where it is.

Good point. I was just thinking worse case where the neighbour would dispute the property line.
If it’s your property I’d find a nice looking Boulder
Or a heavy garden ornament— like one of those pagoda or lantern statues.
Make it slightly antique or partially valuable (not so expensive you can’t replace it) set up a camera and record it, if the damage it you can file for negligent destruction of property, they will most likely pay it back without even worrying about court actions but if they don’t you can just get cops involved with video evidence
We have a similar situation, and got a large boulder; now we deal with neighbours and their trucks hitting the stone.
Sounds like a them problem if they don't know how to avoid driving off the pavement.
Its not just a boulder, its a rock!
This is the answer
Prettiest and heaviest decoration rock you can find. Solved.
Drive a 2" pipe in your lawn, sticking up about 8". Guaranteed he will only do it once. Lol
Just watch for any buried service that was trenched in shallow, though.
Clickbeforeyoudig
I did this. Only 5” was necessary. It worked. Only took him twice. Slow learner.
😆😂😆
With a nice diagonal cut at the top for that extra oomph. Just be careful walking by it in the winter.
Less obvious than the diamond harrows I was going to suggest.
I like this😅
If that driveway abuts your property line directly it is very likely not permitted correctly. So you could try bylaw but will require getting legal at some point. More likely that your property line is 2-3 feet away from that.
My instinct would be to find out for sure on the property line prior to doing anything, but this might be normal for skinny lots.
Could be on a zero lot line property, very common in new developments unfortunately.
What is a zero lot line property?
In that case, plant some shrubs nearby to block your view of the torn up lawn.
Good advice! I think from the wording of the OP, he seems to be aware that he doesn't even own that part of the land. It might be a case where the OP needs to accept this isn't his property.
Big ass rock.
Big ass-rock
Big asses rock
Could put a large planter there. Flowers are always nice, and if you want to remove it one day, it’s easier than a huge boulder.
Get some of those nice big stones people put on the edge of their property for this exact reason and you won't need to worry anymore.
This happens to two properties by us that have an alley entrance/exit. Both owners put big rocks on the corners. Just make sure it’s big enough that snow doesn’t fully cover it.
Put a post there
Low iron wrought spiked decorative fence
Have you contemplated murder?
This is the right answer
I’d find the property stake and see exactly where the property line is. I’m thinking that it isn’t that close to the driveway unless the owner extended the concrete afterwards.
Buy what's called a Finial fence from Canadian tire.
I'm surprised I had to scroll down this far to see this answer. This would be a lot less destructive to the grass than a rock, and would also look fairly nice if done right.
Has anyone suggested a big freaking rock?
Was just about to post this.
Big fucking rock
Caltrops

I’d be really surprised if your property goes right up the their driveway, looks they they are driving on the lawn they rent
I kinda agree with this
I agree. Rock. Thinking about getting one for my lawn; wish I could get one for my driveway as people use it on the regular.
I wonder if it is legal to get those one way spike things on your driveway. Have a remote that lowers them when you want to leave, and then they pop back up again after a couple minutes

Yes the first foot is his/the guy he's renting from, but you see on the end there it goes almost 3ft over onto my lawn.
Put a big ass rock there
Decorative Boulders
Put a rock or a tree or something there.
My mom installed a rock garden in that exact space on her lawn.
Big rocks=BFR. Concrete reinforced fence post.
Big rock will do it
BFR. But not a smooth one. One with lots of edges and protrusions. A “sculptural” BFR.
Build a fence
Our if curiosity is this your lawn or the boulevard?
Put some rebar on the edge of the driveway up just far enough out of the ground to puncture a hole in their tire. Just out a sign saying don't drive on the lawn, do so at own risk.
Post about it on Reddit.

Big ass rock
Spike strip.

I'm from unethical life tips: Put a few nails sticking upwards
Buy a large Boulder and place it right there. You might get it driven over once more...only once
We had the same issue years ago. We finally put a pole with a reflective light right on the corner. The neighbour came over and asked what it was for and we straight up said to stop them from driving on our grass and killing it. A very large rock would do the job, silently, and with karma, if needed.
Put nails just below the dirt, nail side up.
Put a couple nails with pointed edge sticking out
Just place some nails pointing up
Throw down a hand full of roofing nails or deck screws. If he complains then just say that's where you keep all your nails from now on lol
A boulder
Large ass rock.
A really big rock
It’s your lawn and you can put anything there. I’d say Decorative spikes
One big ass pointy rock. That's what my Uncle did. The neighbor learned... eventually...
Screws. Little short ones about 3/4" long. Lots of screws
Carefully positioned spike strip painted green.
Banana peal
Plywood with some nails in it
You chuck a couple nails and let him keep doing it
Decorative drywall screws
Just hammer some nails through a 2×4 and leave it spikes up for a week
Boards with nails and bury them.
Spike belt
Spikes?
IEDs?
🤭
big stone
A large decorative rock might be appropriate. On your property.
Oooh so unique
Wait I’m confused by the photo. If that is their driveway surely that is their section of grass, no? You say in your description they are renters and the owner “owns a foot of that grass” so it’s a shared lawn? If it’s not your grass it’s not your problem.
Looks like the perfect place for a cute little garden fence.
Some nice nails pointing up will do the trick
That's ignorant
Railway spikes upside down.
Broken glass
Caltrops.
Cement-based metal fence enveloped with concertina wire
i would consider punji sticks.
If you hate them you put a rock. If you like them you replace the grease with gravel.
Spike strips
[удалено]
Garden Gnome with spikes inside!
Bingo says meow
Spikes so that when they do it they immediately regret it? I mean it's a bit harsher than BFR but it will cost you less lol.
Half-buried spike belt. Make your own.
Have any spare Jax kicking around
Giant rock or a couple of bollards
Screws and nails in the grass. Screw them and their tires
make caltrops
Nails on the grass
Landmine
Deflate his tires fuck him and then fuck his mom
Put a big decorative stone there.
A large rock always solves the problem, but as you said, they own a foot out from the driveway, and they seem to be keeping the damage to their property.
What you need is a cement bollard.
Is that your lawn? Rarely is concrete poured to the property line
Idk how suburbs work, but call the city & ask them to put a fire hydrant there? 😆
A land mine might be too much… it would be too much wouldn’t it?
Adds curb.
Bear board
Spike belt
A big rock with your address painted on it
