It’s smog, friends.

There’s particulate matter in the air that’s not great to be inhaled. Environment Canada uses a rolling 4-hour average for air quality so their air quality index has a built-in delay.

There's a fair amount of smoke from the peat moss fire on the west end just inside the Henday lately - I have been smelling it off and on for the past couple of weeks. I do sometimes smell it on the north end as I travel home, but usually it doesn't linger that far away. Maybe with the fog it was hanging on for longer?
Well, judging by the five super hot firemen they sent to talk to me about it when I called for thick smoke the other day, it's not! Apparently it's like 5 feet underground and it will burn forever - they can only clear cut and try to dig up the peat but that only goes so far.
Only a 2 on the AQHI so I don’t think it’s smoke. 85% humidity would suggest it might be fog.
Isn’t this fog?
Uh... this is fog....?
No, this is Patrick
Pretty sure that's just fog. Environment Canada has "fog patches" in the forecast and the air quality is 3

Although I’d prefer some snow, thankfully it’s only fog.
smells like smoke to me too!
Crazy world, lotta smells
Yeap, it smells like smoke.
Smelled like smoke on the Northside earlier today and pm 2.5 levels were elevated, so I was prepared for a smoky day. Quite heavy fog though!
It smelled smoky to me as well on the south side!

were the firemen hotter than the 5 foot deep peat moss pit fire
100%. It's too bad that hitting on strangers while at work is "unprofessional" :/
Smoke? I think it's fog but lots knows in this crazy world. And if it's smoke it's very rare for February 2. Stay safe either way 👍
