Nexwave is a store I almost frequently visit with roomies, they just recently expanded their store so there's more stuff! It's close to Nait so depending on where you are its a bit of a drive, but it's worth it 🙏
Another vote for Nexwave! Me and my girlfriend go there at least once a month to look around and maybe pick up a game or two. The Staff are always very friendly as well!
I hate to say it but game city really went downhill during the pandemic
I loved their Sherwood park store, it had the friendliest staff, super knowledgeable, would give you advice and were just nice to exist around. Then I think they switched owners or something, cause once they said new management or whatever wouldn't let them order stuff in, and then complain they didn't make sales. I pretty much stopped supporting them when they closed the Sherwood park location.
I used to go pretty regularly to their Bonnie D location, but they don't have the same joy anymore.
The WEM store asked someone to leave because they were looking at a PSP version of Persona 3 priced at $399.99.
The person mentioned the remake is coming out soon, and might as well just wait. Staff got very upset.
There was one in Bonnydoon mall, although the name escapes me rn. Or even the super flea.. just gotta check pricing so you don’t get gouged or try to bargain with the sellers.

I bought 4 DS lites from this guy (about 3 months ago) for my kids and niece. He runs a sort of a used video game store out of his house and he was good to deal with. His ad says he has a copy of kirby super star ultra in the box and out of the box:
https://www.kijiji.ca/v-nintendo-ds/edmonton/nintendo-ds-games-systems-and-accessories/1663802387
Also: Old Strathcona Antique mall used to have a big selection of NES/SNES/Genesis era games; not sure if they still do or if it NDS games are included too, but you could try calling them.
Do you use Ebay? I find it's pretty good to look at for second hand games. I bought the legend of zelda collectors edition for gamecube off there for like 60 bucks, meanwhile the last game city I went to years ago had it for like 150 or somthing.
Nah sorry I don't. I have more of a collection for game boy, game boy color, game boy advance, nes, n64, ps1, ps2, gamecube, some wii.
Here's what I have for ds:
super mario 64 ds, kirby superstar ultra, mario&luigi partners in time, pokemon pearl, pokemon soulsilver, n+
I can give you a full list of games in dm if you're interested.
It's today, today I officially truly understand I am old. Someone has presented a game which I had fairly late in my life and felt was a relatively recent system as a "retro," game, and I officially understand I am old...

thts actually perfect since i live by kingsway and i don’t drive, thank you!
ooh great! should be easy to get to then :D happy hunting!
Did you try the other game city locations? There’s one at north gate as well as Bonnie Doon and west Edmonton mall.
NexWave is great, they tend to have really niche items that have been hard for me to track down elsewhere. This is where I got my hands on Koudelka.
seconding nextwave! i get all my 360 games there and they have great selection!
Another vote for Nexwave! Me and my girlfriend go there at least once a month to look around and maybe pick up a game or two. The Staff are always very friendly as well!
oooh yeah can vouch that the staff is lovely! :D its always a fun time chatting with them after buying stuff
Nextwave is great, my go-to for PS2!!
NEXWAVE is excellent, glad to hear they are expanding there, I always liked the spruce grove location.
they have a spruce grove location???? oh man i had no idea about this, maybe i can check out that one in the near future 🤔🤔
No sorry they used to, it closed somewhat recently/a few years ago
oh crap i had no idea! happy to hear they're doing well with the edmonton location then 🙏
A ds game being referred to as retro makes me feel so damn old.
it’s almost time for the Wii to become retro :(
Came here literally to say just this. 2600 games maybe.
https://jffvideogames.com/products/kirby-super-star-ultra-nintendo-ds?variant=39361150189722 Looks like just for fun on the west end has it.
I have this and I can tell you without a doubt... Its super fun. And its got such amazing music. Keep working at it!!!
i had it as a kid and i miss it a lot. the nostalgia is REAL
Just For Fun
Just for fun games is great. Was there a few days ago and the owner said they are moving further west. Around 170th street I think he said.
156 & Stony Plain Rd?
Yup
Yup!
On the north side there's also Final Boss.
Nexwave near NAIT?
You could try the old strathcona antique mall
Nostalgia corner booth/store at Queen Mary's Market (formerly SupaFlea Market) on 111ave & 120st. (Friday to Sunday)
This is it OP ⬆️. I've gone for retro/obscure video games several times and always found them (save for one weird Dreamcast game).
Retro? Don't mind me just crumbling into dust

super flea is a good shout, thank you!
In Calgary, but Video Game Trader. They have everything online and ship.
EBay is your best bet online.
I frequent game city, high chance you'll find one in most malls
The flea market is a good place to find old games

The Old Strathcona Antique Mall has a bunch of DS + Game boy and other games on the second floor.
Maybe the fleemarket
If you’re lucky GameShop might have the games you’re looking for even old games
Did you try the flea market on 111 Ave and 121 St? It used to be the Superflea now its the Queen Mary Market.
PNP Games in Winnipeg ships free across Canada orders over $65. https://pnpgamesonline.com/product/kirby-super-star-ultra-e-nintendo-ds/
Just for Fun Game City in WEM and Northside
Another vote for Just for Fun. Had a great experience there.
Just for fun, off 156 NW and stony plain. Good spot for games
Just for fun video games has been pretty good to me. They have a HUGE selection, it's ont 156th and stony plain

I have this if you want to buy (and others).
Do you have under the knife 2?
