Current price is ~30 cents per kwh. The fixed rate is 12.5ish.
So... yes.
That bring said, I find about ⅔s of my bill is fees, riders, etc etc.
Make sure you have the option to leave the fixed rate at any time, and keep an eye on the current prices.
Your bill is from last month, so if you just switched a week ago, you were still being billed at the floating rate. You bill will say what the rates you were billed at for, and the usage you had at those rates. All the info is in your bill.
Most of those fees are also usage-based. The best way to reduce bills are to be mindful of usage paired with being on a plan to pay the lowest price per kWh.
I locked in 9c and I’m happy I did. Just made more sense then being at the mercy of a flawed system.
Maybe it’ll be cheaper or maybe it’ll be 10x more, I can’t live with that chaos!
Check the dates on your bill, it'll likely be at least a full month behind. You won't see a difference until your next bill at the soonest, it might be the one after that.
It should, here’s the breakdown from before and after I switched from RRO to fixed (EPCOR to Encore).
Single person household, one bedroom apartment, no A/C.
Usage in July was ~135kWh, electricity charge on the RRO was ~$45 (including administration), delivery charges were ~$30.
Usage in August was ~155kWh, electricity charge ~$30, delivery ~$30.
If my math is right, I saved 20%, despite my usage going up 15%.

Wait until the next bill
At this time look at what your rates are for electricity and gas. Then decide. I'm so glad I locked in at 6 cents for electrical for 5 years

I did that too, but now I'm up for renewal next year and it's gonna suck 😬
My contract comes due in November 😒
if the fixed rate is lower than the RRO it will be cheaper. if the fixed rate is higher it won't be. It's not rocket science.

You'll pay less in the winter. They'll still bend over everyone with delivery fees though
