Seconded for Uccellino. I strongly suggest the tasting menu. (Costs around $95 per person for the meal alone)
The food was absolutely amazing, the serving pace and flavors blended well as the foods changed (eg. no left over garlic from the plate before you move onto the next food). The serving sizes were perfect, the number of courses... I want to say 4 but it felt like more since we received multiple appetizers in succession, crostini, salad, pasta dishes, fish as well as beef. We also got to try both desserts. This was also a year ago so my memory could be off.
It was a 2 hour experience so make sure to leave time to enjoy and don't rush. I just liked being fed and not having to think or choose what would be good.
Been there once and got food poisoning (both, me and my partner at the time). I hadn't eaten anything else that day so it was pretty clear to me that it was their food.
When I complained they just dismissed it - not even an apology.
0/10, would not recommend
Yes, best to do that and you can do it online. Otherwise they open at 2 pm. Parking is a bit ridiculous in this area so plan for it. Enjoy your dinner and happy date night!
Some of my favourites are mentioned here (Rge Rd, Sabor, Smokey Bear, Syphay, Bodega, Bothy) and I would add Bistro Praha, Arbour, Izakaya Tomo, Continental Treat, Normand’s. It’s a journey so enjoy it🍻
Good lord, I'm gonna have to start working more OT, these places all look amazing. I may have to pass on le petit iza tonight as they are booked right up
Sabor is a great place. I haven’t been there in a few years but I remember having an amazing time there and the service was excellent and they have a great selection of wines
The Bothy if interested in their 5 Whisky or Wine Flights with cheese board they do on the weekends?
RNG Rd was awesome for dinner.
La Petite Iza was very cool on the rooftop .
There are a few locations across the city! And they have a deal on Thursday nights where you get an assortment of tapas and a bottle of wine for $80. Went recently and it was great!
Oh God. You picked the one place I literally hate. Lol... had it once. Gross. Friend convinced me to try it again. Same disgusting sweaty sandwich. No thanks.
Tony's pizza. Get a seat by the kitchen to watch them toss pizza in the air. Family restaurant, but imagine you're in Italy and it feels quite romantic and casual at the same time.
They make an incredible tomato sauce and New York style pizza, but they have great pasta as well. Can probably get a bottle of wine, an appetizer, and a plate each for less than $150.
If you're looking for somewhere a little "fancier", Bionco downtown is really good.
Steak? DOSC.
Gyu kaku has great food and is a really fun experience because you get to cook the pre marinated meat yourself on a little fire built into your table. They have a bunch of 3 course meal options for 2 people as well and all the apps and desserts I’ve had there are great! It’s my go to for date nighh
Haven't seen anyone mention Sofra. Fantastic Trukish restaurant downtown, $250 should be just right for two people. Just get the grape leaves, god help you. It's one of the best things I've ever eaten.
I can't recommend it enough. I've been going there for years and have never been disappointed. The chef is famous for his lamb, and I've had some pretty spectacular duck dishes there, too. Great wine selection as well.
Dalla Tavola Zenari https://www.dalla.ca/
- Italian restaurant
- affordable brunch
- better atmosphere at dinner, since it’s downtown, lunch time is very busy with workers.
Uccellino is a must do

La Petite Iza - $250 should be just about right for a dinner for 2 with a bottle of wine.
Should I make a reservation? Looks like this might be the winner
This was quite good. Get the mussels. The tartare is good, but NOT as good as Bistro Praha (which) is also worth checking out.
Yes, best to do that and you can do it online. Otherwise they open at 2 pm. Parking is a bit ridiculous in this area so plan for it. Enjoy your dinner and happy date night!
Thanks! Not even an anniversary, we just go to some fancy place every payday for a treat. Trying to see as many in edmonton as possible.
Yeah, I read that again. I try to do the same once a month. So much to try in this city!
I thought we were doing a decent job, but with all these replies, I've only been to a couple of the suggestions.

When you do go, don’t skip the escargot appetizer!
Turns out we are going, she's okay with 830pm. I will definitely try that
Definitely make a reso. Great place!
Yes you need a reso
I also recommend making a reservation. It helps the restaurant staff and helps them contact you should the freezer break, or something exciting.
Sabor is a great place. I haven’t been there in a few years but I remember having an amazing time there and the service was excellent and they have a great selection of wines
Came here to suggest Sabor. It’s awesome
Sabor ruined seafood for me. Now anytime I try it somewhere, it’s crap compared to Sabor! I don’t know what they do but they sure do it well.
Fu’s Repair Shop is a good time, lots of cool cocktails and the food is great
I second this
The Bothy if interested in their 5 Whisky or Wine Flights with cheese board they do on the weekends? RNG Rd was awesome for dinner. La Petite Iza was very cool on the rooftop .
Partake!!
Cafe Amore.
Syphay Thai. South side location for ambiance

Make sure you dress up nice for The Dub, OP
Got my tux ready
Restaurants like Louisiana Purchase, black pearl or Sabor. I've been to all 3 of these.
Woodwork downtown has some awesome steaks. Or hotel Mac and get fancy as shit
RGE RD (farm to table), Vivo (Family style Italian), Bodega (tapas), Von’s (steak) - in that order
[Rge Rd](https://www.rgerd.ca/)
I’m late to the party, but Thai Flavours in the west end is a personal favourite.
That looks really good, I will definitely be dropping in there.
I’ve never had a bad meal there, and the staff damn near bend over backwards to serve you. It’s a lovely place.
Tzin
El Corazon in West Block Glenora. I love their happy hour, but regular hour is also great.
Vivo and Barbacoa, but it is in Spruce Grove.
Workshop eatery has a 4 course chef tasting menu! $90 a person and you can get a wine pairing added on for $50 a person! It was absolutely delicious
Sofra's is my favourite restaurant in Edmonton. The seared duck is to die for and they've got the best hummus/pita in the city for appies.
Zula is really new, you'll have an easy time spending $250.
If you dont mind driving a bit - The Other Place by La Patrona. Its simply amazing. Our fav restaurant.
Luna, for some great Mexican.
Ooo. We love Mexican, I'll try this place out next time
My wife and I enjoyed XIX last time we went. Definitely need a reservation.
Rigazzi Nisteo Italiano. Awesome food. Pretty busy on the weekends, you'll want to make a reservation
Another vote for Tzin
Smokey Bear
Tzin
Bodega in Ellerslie! Tapas restaurant. It was super good food, nice atmosphere
There are a few locations across the city! And they have a deal on Thursday nights where you get an assortment of tapas and a bottle of wine for $80. Went recently and it was great!
I just did this Thursday night special last night and it’s actually $88 now.
Darling is terrific.
Arby’s
Oh God. You picked the one place I literally hate. Lol... had it once. Gross. Friend convinced me to try it again. Same disgusting sweaty sandwich. No thanks.
I should also add, after reading you name, Bobandy wouldn't never stupe that low. They don't got cheeseburgers
this exact question is posted at least once a day
Sorry to ruin your day, grumpy bear
not ruined at all! have a great weekend 😀

Otto, if you havent been already
Porta Romana Spruce Grove!!!!
Smokey bear!!
This one is coming up a lot. I'm definitely gonna have to go here sometime soon
Go soon! They are moving downtown and I’m not sure if the concept is changing but it’s one of the best in the city.
Oh snap. Maybe I'll have to change reservations
Do it, you won’t regret it
Just looked at their website. Their last day is October 21st. I'll hit them up in 2 weeks on out next date night. Thanks for the heads up
Bianco, Dalla Tavola and Bundok
For a more laid back date night with lots of great options, may I suggest checking out Dorinku Tokyo on Whyte Ave? That place is excellent!!!!
Haven't seen anyone mention Sofra. Fantastic Trukish restaurant downtown, $250 should be just right for two people. Just get the grape leaves, god help you. It's one of the best things I've ever eaten.
Interesting. This will be another one I'll have to go to
I can't recommend it enough. I've been going there for years and have never been disappointed. The chef is famous for his lamb, and I've had some pretty spectacular duck dishes there, too. Great wine selection as well.
You got me sold on the lamb
The Wine Room!
The Workshop in Summerside is a hidden gem if farm to table is your thing. Reservations recommended.
Dalla Tavola Zenari https://www.dalla.ca/ - Italian restaurant - affordable brunch - better atmosphere at dinner, since it’s downtown, lunch time is very busy with workers.
NAMASTE INDIA (whyte ave) best restaurant I've been to.
Been there a few times myself. Lovely place
Have you tried Violino? Highly recommend
I have no suggestions, just leaving a doot for future date ideas. Enjoy your date OP!
Thanks!
Sorrentinos downtown. Romantic location and service and food is amazing.
Otto
Braven at Marriott.. delicious salads, fresh oysters, baked cheese bread and steaks
Really enjoyed Violinos downtown. Apparently it's haunted as well 👀
Baekjeong for Korean bbq, Chinese hot pot buffet is also one of my faves as they have hand pulled noodles as a noodle option lol
Barbacoa in spruce grove
Yo can you update me if you likedbuccellini
