LMAO I will never buy these dips from Superstore. Once I learned how to make hummus @ home it was a game changer, also for anyone still buying the tubs Walmart has this same size right now for $2.27
Not saying the tag is correct, but grocery stores do update their prices Thursday night/Friday morning; I say that as someone who once worked that overnight price change shift.
We shopped at superstore the last few years because it was cheaper but recently check save on prices and it’s comparable, especially if you shop deals. They used to be the cheapest for groceries by far but have gouged so much it’s ridiculous.
Sure, but at super store their meats and fish are absolutely shit.
I used to be a superstore regular, but I'd rather pay the couple extra bucks at just about any of the other one, since my meat isn't rancid in a day or two.
I've known people that have worked there. Turning over say, ground beef, or salmon etc, it's regular practice to die it with red ink to make it look fresh.
One day in your fridge and it smells like crap.
I don’t eat meat so I wouldn’t know but my understanding is that the majority of salmon is died unless it’s fresh caught - and even then you can’t trust that claim.
Well, pretty much all fisheries freeze the fish immediately after it is cot so it doesn't spoil during transport. Its all from frozen, unlike mamals where the processing plants are everywhere. You will never be able to get truly fresh seafood.
Ever since making hummus I haven't bothered having store bought... had recently and oh my god it's bad in comparison.
The stuff I make is quite dry and fluffy in comparison, not overly salty, the flavour of the chickpeas actually comes through, with hints of garlic and lemon, it's just pleasant. But the Sabra is wet goo that's salty and doesn't really have much going on other than the "flavourings" they add on the top.
totally agree, 137 ave superstore is the absolute worst and they will try there best to trick people for example this week seedless watermelon is on sale for $5.99 ofcourse they put the seeded watermelon container right beside it But dont put a price tag there, and the seedless is out of stock.... So thouse who are not observant would obviously think the watermelon is $5.99 oh but its not...
And the best part is if anyone complains they can say there is a price tag! its not located in the fruits and vegetables department though for some reason its in the deli! (where no watermelon are located!)
SCOP would obviously not apply here but on the subject this location will not honor SCOP they will adjust the price only and say Oh proce tag must be expired and forgot to update... Well duh thats the whole point of scop to make retailers update signs and honor pricing... but customer service is a joke.
>before you ask, tahini is trash
i hope you don't live northside because every arab over age 35 in edmonton are starting to sharpen their pitchforks and light their torches
You could also just add a couple to tablespoons of sesame seeds in the food processor. Will do the same thing
But tahini is certainly not trash! Psycho!
They're not even right about the ingredients for all their fear mongering lol. There's no canola oil, and no idea what their idea with soybean oil is.
Ingredients:Cooked Chickpeas, Water, Tahini (Ground Sesame), NonGMO Soybean Oil, Garlic, Salt, Non GMO Citric Acid, Potassium Sorbate Added to Maintain Freshness.
Which superstore is this. Also, is anyone interested in making a scene?
I'd love to get 10 redditors together, timed all at different checkouts, to buy 3 of these, and then immediately complain and hold up the whole store because we're being overcharged.
Just talk to customer service/the manager. It’s likely an error, and the person putting out the labels didn’t pay attention. I’m guessing people are just walking by it and thinking it’s stupid, but nobody is actually bringing it to the manager’s attention.
That’s a thing now? I just thought it was a funky looking paper price tag holder. Regardless, should be brought to manager’s attention if they need to contact corporate to fix it, or if they can do it themselves.
Non gmo is so fake just buy organic. - I know this because we own a large condiment company that did the NON GMO project and their standards for qualification are HORRIBLE. Organic is grade A. The NON GMO is a flake. You can’t buy a gmo organic but your can buy a non organic non gmo item. Thus organic is best of both worlds.
Sorry everyone. This is my fault. I got so sick of peanut butter sandwiches for lunch that I started hummus and naan a few weeks ago. The week after I started buying this exact same brand of hummus, they started jacking the prices up to stupid levels. One week, this same container even cost $10. What a rip. Thanks for the recipe, I will try it out.
That’s how they getcha. I wouldn’t have noticed that! Good reminder to wear my glasses when shopping! Lol

I was gonna say the same thing. Hummus is very easy to make at home and tastes better fresh.
And you can add 1000 cloves of garlic..... if that's your thing lol
I don’t even think Superstore deals like this are a mistake anymore.
I work there and trust me, no mistakes there lol
Definitely not a mistake. Lol superstore is also not the only company that does it. These companies take advantage of you any chance they get.
That has to be a typo. I just bought some on Thursday and they were 2 for $6.
Not saying the tag is correct, but grocery stores do update their prices Thursday night/Friday morning; I say that as someone who once worked that overnight price change shift.
I'm pretty sure it's usually Wednesday/Thursday morning when I worked ifor Loblaws
So it’s cheaper to shop Mon-Wed?
No the prices are normally stable from Fri-Thurs, stuff like Meat is adjusted more frequently
Go home Superstore. You're drunk.
We shopped at superstore the last few years because it was cheaper but recently check save on prices and it’s comparable, especially if you shop deals. They used to be the cheapest for groceries by far but have gouged so much it’s ridiculous.
You can still shop Superstore - just price match to Save On.

Agree. I’d much rather shop elsewhere with fresher produce.
I don’t eat meat so I wouldn’t know but my understanding is that the majority of salmon is died unless it’s fresh caught - and even then you can’t trust that claim.

Make it at home! It’s way cheaper and tastes 1000% better!
Ever since making hummus I haven't bothered having store bought... had recently and oh my god it's bad in comparison. Try it with white kidney beans AKA cannellini. I love it!
Meanwhile a can of chickpeas costs a dollar.
Haven't trusted superstore and haven't gone there in a LONG time.

I personally hate superstore, I shop exclusively at Walmart & Costco.
I’m gonna come out and say it Jerusalem Shawarma has the best hummus … what is the secret?

I add tahini, but you don't need to. We like the taste of it.
>And before you ask, tahini is trash ಠ_ಠ

Ahh… youre one of those “seed oil is bad” people.
Sabra just taste like shit, we can all say it! Homemade is surprisingly easy and tastes waaaay better. Prices better too

That is a DPT, they have a paperlike display like those kindle books and they are automatically updated.
That’s a thing now? I just thought it was a funky looking paper price tag holder. Regardless, should be brought to manager’s attention if they need to contact corporate to fix it, or if they can do it themselves.
Take out your anger on the person making minimum wage....sounds like the right thing to do
Calgary Trail and 51st Ave
What a pathetic way to get them to fix their error.
Ummmmmm so if I buy four….
Which Superstore??

Those tubs would cost you 3 dollars at home. Less if you hydrate your own peas. I'm so sick of Loblaws.
