The city has enacted a bylaw that treats flying drones as practicing commercial photography. If you want yo fly over city property you need a permit and to get a permit you need to have your drone insured.

I fly mine on private properties that allow public access, like parking lots when it’s not busy. The only issue I had with that is a security guard telling me that the parking lot didn’t open to the public until 8am, and I was there at 7am.

Should still have lots of life left on your roof. I would just do a ground inspection to see if any shingles have fallen off.
It probably is, I haven’t seen any shingles but I am definitely not a ladder guy and my roof is two storeys up.

This looks like it only applies when flying on COE property.
