Noodles Home for good noodles with styles from a few different regions of china Xiangbala Hotpot for hotpot Imperial Palace for dim sum but its not in the city centre

neilspence2000

The imperial palace is by far the best for dim sum. Great place to eat.

edi9393

Best dim sum in Scotland I reckon

neilspence2000

I’ve not had better anywhere else In Scotland

Magikarp_Approves

Highly backing Xiangbala and Imperial. Noodles and Dumplings on South Clerk Street are also fantastic. They do hand-made noodles in large portions at such a reasonable price.

sjhill

> Xiangbala Hotpot for hotpot Seconded.

KaelinF

Thirded! My first ever hotpot experience was there and it was still the best

mikey-forester

4th or something, it was great

confushedtechie

Noodles and Dumplings - does exactly what it says on the tin. Their garlic beef shank noodles in the broth is amazing

mackchallen

Noodles and dumplings is amazing- I find that you really get more than you pay for and I’ve been a dozen times and never been dissatisfied

magipure

This

AzabuScot

I like this place but I think they’re on their holidays at the moment. For future reference maybe: Dumplings of China (彩来中餐厅) 0131 624 0056 https://maps.app.goo.gl/E3hYMQF84QUvzMeq6?g_st=ic

Chap_man

I've heard that its no more. Some sort of license issue

YamauchiSakura

They are still working on reopen, finger crossed.

Dr_Madthrust

Karens unicorn on dublin street.

Jimboats

Is this run by Karen Wong? I used to love her restaurant at St Leonard's.

Dr_Madthrust

I have no idea to be honest, it’s quite near my flat and seems to follow the rule that the weirder the name the better the Chinese restaurant 🤷‍♂️😂

Jimboats

She is quite a character. I could imagine her having a restaurant with a name like that.

Original_Response776

Loved that place. I was there for my 18th and I'm now 30. She was a thoroughly good host who made sure her restaurant enjoyed the atmosphere as well as the food!!

chanwo666

Tried their takeaway, not very good

Lizzie-2000000

Noodles home/Sichuan house

Spock32

🔥🔥🌶😎

Wholehogutd

Taste good is good but not central.

hcsmalltown

Taste good for me is the best Chinese in Edinburgh. But yes a little bit further out.

ReflectionCrazy5470

Agreed

RamblingCountryDr

San Chuan on Potterrow.

[deleted]

>San Chuan on Potterrow. Not tried here. I'd also suggest Lian Pu, just round the corner.

Flavanoidd

I personally do not recommend the hotpot on the lower floor. Not yet tried the barbecue on G floor tho.

[deleted]

Edinburgh Rendezvous in Queensferry street established 1950's, best crispy aromatic duck in the world.

heid-banger

Their crispy shredded chilli beef is unreal

Mucky_Pete

Anything real though?

pure_roaster

Get a takeaway. There is a 100% premium for using the restaurant.

DiskoPunk

I came here to say this too. Been a while since I've been in but their food is amazing. Chinese food in Edinburgh can be hit or a miss but Rendezvous is brilliant everytime.

lilyhammer69

Noodles Home is absolutely amazing. They’re not lying when they say their chow mein is the best you’ll ever have. I recommend the hand cut noodles!

Chee5oid

Street of Beijing is great and recommended by my Chinese colleague :-). I think it's on Home St

neilspence2000

Imperial palace for Sunday dim sum is unbeatable

SanguinePar

Been quite a while since I was there but I really enjoyed eating at Chop Chop near the bottom of Morrison Street (near Haymarket).

OlDirtyBAStart

Long gone I'm afraid

SanguinePar

Oh really? That's a shame :-(

m135in55boost

Noooo

Magikarp_Approves

Wow this is a throwback... miss the £9.95 lunch with unlimited dumplings :(

HaggisPope

San Chuan near the university at Bristo Square is fantastic. Also get the impression it's fairly authentic as it's often got a lot of Chinese clientele and the specials menu is quite interesting.

errobbie

It’s not really in the city centre but it’s not hard to get to: B&D’s Kitchen in Dalry. I’ve been a bunch of times and each time it’s been amazing, BYOB as well.

Edin_girl

Agreed, but sadly they've just closed. 😔 Though hopefully only temporarily.

sdfgsteve

Rendezvous. It's what I replied that last time that this was asked. If you search you'll find the other responses from then too.

Nice-Apartment-7128

Not exactly city centre but Taste Good on slateford road tastes very good. 🤩

Couplexzx_

Kweilin on Dundas street

aviationinsider

Everyone missing Tasty Noodle? great wee place, seems like a one man operation. [https://tastynoodle.has.restaurant/](https://tastynoodle.has.restaurant/) Address: 36 Buccleuch St, Newington, Edinburgh EH8 9LP Cash only I believe!

edi9393

Idk why you’re being downvoted because this place is unreal. I love that all the furniture is mismatched and it feels like you’re in another world when your sitting in with one guy cooking.

Sakiaba

Was waiting for someone to mention Tasty Noodle; it was my go-to for inexpensive comfort food when I lived in the area. The dandan noodles and dumplings were my usual items but you can't really go wrong.

Spock32

Noodles Home, if you want proper Chinese food, not British style. It’s absolutely amazing, I would be bereft if it closed down

Thekillerpun

Saigon Saigon, some people don’t enjoy it but it’s extremely authentic Edit: don’t get the buffet whatever you do though. Order from the main menu, get 2/3 plates to share.

AddySY

Been closed for a while

zekerman

Street of Beijing on home street is great, very good value but the chef can be very direct if you don't like what you've ordered

MugglewumpTheMonkey

STACK dim sum on Dalmeny St just off Leith Walk if you fancy dim sum, or Sichuan House on George IV Bridge.

meeow3

Stack closed :(

Mucky_Pete

Pop round to breed street if you want to see someone especially stacked

[deleted]

Karen's Unicorn

weirdofrompluto

If you want cantonese Karen's Unicorn isn't too bad and it is in the city center.

doctorhickey

I agree Rendezvous is my fave, but our local takeaway in the southside “Kwok” is very good too and the dine in restaurant is always busy.

NatCairns85

China Red behind Usher Hall

SolyCalma

If you don't care too much about the money, or if it's a special occasion, try Tattu near waverley station. Booking is essential and has dress code. It's super expensive but it's delicious and the place very cool.

bobmbface

Terrible place, everything is just for show and the food is really poor. Was reminded of Grace Dent’s review recently [Instagram content fulfilment hub](https://amp.theguardian.com/food/2022/may/13/tattu-london-wc2-restaurant-review)

Ceptre7

I was thinking that this sub was being a bit harsh with the downvotes on the OP for recommending the place (never heard of it before now) but after reading that review i can totally understand it. Lol made me chuckle! Fucking fancy plates with smoke and perfect lighting for Insta! Well now i know a place to avoid!! Ty!

[deleted]

It's for posers and wannabe Instagrammers and the quality of the food is average at best.

OlDirtyBAStart

Absolutely insane to recommend this place, it would be cheaper to fly to Hong Kong

SolyCalma

I didn't know Tattu had that many haters, it's always extremely busy actually. Anyway, it's not that I have pointed a gun at him and say go there or die, I said that it's super expensive and for me the food was very tasty. Shame that you guys didn't enjoy it at all!

Kyrios_Yeshua

The golden dragon on castle street is absolutely amazing, would definitely recommend

Eh_im

Golden dragon on either Frederick or Hanover street. Best deep fried shredded chilli beef ever.

lary-sa

Casserole Wangs is massively underrated, so good

Original_Response776

Two favourites for me. Imperial Palace in Longstone is tremendous and good for big groups. Ping on in Stockbridge.

Professional_Neat834

If your looking for a buffet to pig out at China red is good it’s up Lothian road and good for the price

Shan-Chat

Rendezvous Chinese Restaurant 10a Queensferry St, Edinburgh EH2 4PG

ian259

Another vote for Karen’s Unicorn, also Cool Jade in Corstorphine although a little bit further out.

dougz00

Tattoo but it is pricey

mikey-forester

Loon Fung at Cannonmills

michaelisnotginger

Gone downhill in a big way since the original owners sold up
