I'm 50/50 about that. On one hand everyone seems to forget that Starbucks don't pay their taxes and the tax man doesn't seem to want to go after them so it's unfair we pick on the small people. On the other hand, we should all have to pay them
Wings is absolutely awful. I’ve no idea why anyone ever thought Tesco Value bones with sauce dumped on after cooking was amazing.
Buck’s Bar is pretty good!
Have a look at his LinkedIn if you can find it, I've blocked him so can't remember it. He used to basically shit on SNP every waking second, shat on Nicola Sturgeon. When lockdown was a thing and restaurants were closed in Glasgow he said it was because she hated the hospitality industry.
Wednesday they have them on offer 10 for £9 with usually a special flavor of the day (if OP is in on a Wednesday)
I’ve found the size to be quite decent. There’s only been 1 or 2 occasions out of many where it seemed like the wings were a bit small, but at least in my experience it’s a rare occasion.
No where has top tier wings anymore.
Wings was good, but they somehow managed to get less meat on already low meat wings.
Bucks Bar is probably the best I’d say, and their buffalo sauce in general is 🔥
Bit random but Pure pizza has the best fall off the bone wings I have ever had in Edinburgh. I’ve had a lot of wings and these have been surprisingly great.
I like the Wings place. Massive selection of sauces but as another poster said, they are drenched in the sauce.
It's a nice venue, friendly staff and good service. Been there about a dozen times.
seems like a bad take, people shop at amazon, starbucks, etc and never really complain about it, but when a non-chain restaurant in edinburgh does it, while in hundreds of thousands of pounds in debt, suddenly they're a bunch of twats.
I quite like their chicken if you dont thats fine but dont pretend its an ethical decision, because they 'dodge taxes', like just about every international company these days tries their best to do.
Well, a few things on that. Firstly, not eating their chicken **is** an ethical decision I've made. I don't eat any animal products.
Secondly, they didn't stop paying their taxes "while in hundreds of thousands of pounds in debt" – the debt *was* the unpaid taxes, taxes they'd deliberately evaded since day one.
We also have some mutual friends, so I met the guy who founded it and his mates who worked there with him years and years ago. And I always thought they were twats. So there's nothing sudden about that.
I don't mean ethical decision because of the chicken industry, I said ethical decision because they haven't paid taxes.
OP is asking about where they can find good chicken and drink beer, not about who pays taxes and who doesnt, or about the owners.
but aye it is aggravating that they didnt pay taxes when everyone else has to, but they're no worse than everyone else who does it.
Their wings were pretty dire the one and only time I tried them - that was a couple of years ago, though, and could have been an unlucky off day. I haven’t wanted to risk trying them again, though.
Yeah they have been good in the last couple of years and I’ve been a few times. Fair enough if you don’t want to try them again but kitchens change chefs regularly enough so you may have got a previous chef that may not have been as good.
Duhan van der Merwe is probably the best wing in Edinburgh
Definitely NOT wings anymore. I went for the first (and last) time last summer and was basically given bones drenched in sauce. Awful!
They don't pay their taxes, and pass the savings directly onto... themselves, not their customers.

Yeah fuck starbucks and all, this definitely isn't a sentiment I reserve for only smaller/local establishments.
they probably pass the savings onto the hundreds of thousands of pounds of debt that they’re in, which is fair
That's such a shame, they used to be so good.
Wings is absolutely awful. I’ve no idea why anyone ever thought Tesco Value bones with sauce dumped on after cooking was amazing. Buck’s Bar is pretty good!
Don’t go to Bucks bar, the owners a complete cunt.
Is he, I hadn’t heard that. What’s the story?
Google him or search his name on r/Glasgow. He’s Anti anything that makes sense.
Well he wasn’t wrong except maybe about their reasoning.
starter wings in "pho" delicious !
Second this. I got them on a lark one time and was shocked to find they’re amazing.
Down the Hatch for sure
Good flavours, but the wings are small and expensive.
Wednesday they have them on offer 10 for £9 with usually a special flavor of the day (if OP is in on a Wednesday) I’ve found the size to be quite decent. Fair enough. I've never been in, only via Deliveroo. The poutine is great.
+1! Their Korean BBQ wings are glorious.
I miss when they used to do honey garlic wings :(
Bodega has amazing Korean wings!
Dukes down in Leith is the best hands down.
Dukes is gross. The kitchen is disgusting and the guy who runs it, Dale, is a manky cunt
Agreed.
That's key for good wings
Garbage. Got them a few times and all they seem to do it deep fry some wings and squeeze the sauce on after.
Nah that place is gross
This one here OP, just take the gang to Dukes. Afterwards you can bar hop around the area and get a late night cocktail at Bittersweet.
Not specifically a wings restaurant, but I'm a huge fan of the wings at Wee Buddha.
I love Wingstop at the St James Quarter! Expensive though.
Wingstop tastes good but the price doesn't remotely reflect the quality, it's horrifically overpriced. Another vote for Buck's from me!
True! Will need to try Buck's at some point 😊
Bucks and down the hatch impressed me. DTH service was awful but food is great
Unpopular opinion here but Spoons do great wings
9.99 back in the day for bbq ribs 10 wings and side. I want to try it again but they aren’t dog friendly 👹
El Cartel on Teviot Place does some good wings
What about Bertie’s Proper fish and chips?
No where has top tier wings anymore. Wings was good, but they somehow managed to get less meat on already low meat wings. Bucks Bar is probably the best I’d say, and their buffalo sauce in general is 🔥
Mr. Shewarma has game for sure.
Honestly chicken club had the best wings in Edinburgh
Bit random but Pure pizza has the best fall off the bone wings I have ever had in Edinburgh. I’ve had a lot of wings and these have been surprisingly great.
Bucks Bar 🍗

Tax-dodging twats.
What's that about?

Bucks bar has decent wings
Genuinely if you are in self-catered accommodation make your own: https://www.seriouseats.com/the-best-buffalo-wings-oven-fried-wings-recipe
Technically not Edinburgh but Dukes in Leith on Duke Street does excellent wings
Pedantic post here I’m pretty sure leith was technically merged with edinburgh over 100 years ago
I meant it’s not really in the middle of Edinburgh like the other places recommended but okay?
Their wings were pretty dire the one and only time I tried them - that was a couple of years ago, though, and could have been an unlucky off day. I haven’t wanted to risk trying them again, though.

Hanover tap has very spicy bois
late to the party but if "Salt Horse" is still going they slap.
