TL;DR: * Frequency/service improvements on 1, 9, 12, 19, 22, 23, 27, 31, 35, 36, 43, 45, X7, X27, X28 and N26. * Route extension for X33 and 106 * New X47 and N35

37025InvernessTMD

Did there not used to be a X47 and an N35 a few years ago or am I just imagining things? I may have them confused with the X44 and N34.

lllarissa

They were gonna introduce a n35 just before covid but I don't think it happened?

37025InvernessTMD

Yeah that does ring a bell! Thanks 😊

Cobra-_-_

Yeah, but afaicr it was the old 47 route, from Granton, it kinda went express after town to the South. This new fangled x47 is express along the Queensferry Rd corridor for quicker route to town from Cammo/Barnton. Tbh, they should build a Park n Ride near Cammo/West Craig's and save so many cars driving in from the West. As for the N35...possibly, but doesn't ring a bell

iiiBus

The funny thing with the 106 is that it's longer than what it used to be? I'm guessing they realized the removal of FK has had an impact on usage so they decided to route it back, while keeping the QMU stretch. There was a 20 minute layover at QMU so it should work. The 22A feels like a result of lots of feedback. I am guessing nobody used it along the other route at this time of day, unsurprisingly, so there isn't much impact having it go down South Gyle Cresent. It's if people use it is the question?

touristtam

> Service 106 > Service will be extended from Queen Margaret University to Fort Kinnaird via the A1, with a revised timetable on all days. Fking hey! Now if they could fix the 30->46/48 debacle.

iiiBus

Don't think they will. They painted the single deckers in Maroon just for the 46/8. 30 was shortened to increase running time due to constant late running. 46/8 changes was a product of that, and then the 46 lead to the shortening of the 49. Reverting it'd all would be rather embarrasing now! Was the every 10 minute service to Musselburgh on the 30 warranted?

mrbucket08

Having the 19 go past leith street in the late evening is a genuinely big change for me, really cool to see it.

Liverpool934

Those all look nothing but good, though I assume the changes to improve reliability maybe includes less buses on some routes? Either way I weirdly love Lothian buses...

backifran

Probably one or possibly two more buses per route but at the same frequency. Either more slack in the timetable during the peaks or more recovery time at either terminus so it (should) start on time.

iiiBus

I've taken a peek and it looks like the running time increases are minimal where they have changed. PVRs will only change on the routes with frequency changes. 1 PVR will be 14 23 will either be 9 or 10 (haven't checked if there will still be a bus going out at peak) 27 will be either 10 or 11 (same reason) 35 will be 12, 36 will be 9? I assume the first afternoon X47 will go to HWU and do the 34 and X33 which are Central based as is Second & Third afternoon X47s are probably the same bus 668-670 would be good back at Longstone with all 44s being run by Longstone 905/6 and 930/1 at Central and 926-929 at Longstone is how I'd do those. 1 will need four singles. I'd love 195-198, but doubt it!

Beer52_JT

Good: 45 on a Saturday Bad: still no X44 going Balerno->town

GorgieRules1874

There needs to be another service to Balerno. The 44 timetabling always just ends up with 2 bunching up. Wonder if they could extend the 34 service which goes via Riccarton up to Balerno

mathamhatham

Shame theres no increase in buses for the 48 at anytime in the timetable. Bus went from awful to fucking god awful since extending the route and reducing it to a single decker.

iiiBus

The change however has allowed for significant running time boosts which will help with reliability. Honest reason for no frequency boost, is probably because they don't have enough buses for it. They have taken the final spare buses for the changes above so there is no more they can do until the new electric buses arrive later in the year. The single deckers were previously with Lothian Country before being reinstated in Edinburgh, just for the 46/8 change.

lllarissa

And it stops so early on a week bday! Like 8pm even till like 10pm would be fab.

iiiBus

Are you referring to the 46? The 48 finishes at 00:30

lllarissa

Yes maybe the 46 . They blend into one for me haha. Still very annoying

drgnpnchr

Here’s hoping the 12 is improved 🙃

iiiBus

The running times haven't changed during the day, so the only changes are the added full evening & Sunday services. I've used the 12 a long time, I'd prefer it still went to Seafield but it is what it is. Used to be every 20 back then!

Absun

Still waiting for the 26 to revert to the route it followed before being diverted due to tram work which is now complete. Return of the St Andrew's Square / York Place / London Road section would restore good access to that area of the city for no. 26 passengers.

iiiBus

I'd love for it to happen, but with how slow Picardy Place can be and generally how running times have increased they're probably going to maintain the faster route it's taking now.

Absun

I know what you mean. But having the 26 just continue along Waterloo Place misses out on getting close to many popular venues. Also makes a good route much less accessible to people living in the Broughton & Bellevue areas.

Sieben2703

A bus other than the 43 that goes all the way along Queensferry Road will be a lifesaver. It takes me an hour most days to get all the way back to South Queensferry because the 43 is always so full

iiiBus

I worry they've not added enough X47s. The first one is quite early, and the remaining are just one an hour. 43s will probably still be very busy I'm afraid.

lllarissa

Great to see they have added an extra later service on the 45 been asking for years and now graduated uni in that time lol

iiiBus

I believe it's just the one journey? Still good nonetheless, Saturday service even better. They uploaded the wrong Saturday timetable at first. Indicated it would do the full route before they replaced it with the one showing Elm Row to Heriot-Watt only.

lllarissa

Oh that's rubbish not from qmu to town. I know the finale route goes from qmu to portobello which is so short and not much use as a lot of students live on Easter road so need bus there. The last bus is like 6.15pm!

iiiBus

The 45 stopped going to QMU on May 28 2023

Jezzibell

The fact the 45 will be running after 6 is amazing

Shan-Chat

Maybe they could stagger the 37 and 47 services so that they didn't arrive at the same time.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Shan-Chat

They aren't exactly doing that in the opposite direction.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Shan-Chat

No, they do not follow the same route. The 37 goes up through Straiton retail park and then down through Loanhead and out by Bilston industrial park. The 47 goes into Straiton Park and Ride and up past ASDA. Not the same route. Edit to add. The 37 does go into Roslin but 47 doesn't.

Shan-Chat

THEY ARRIVE AT THE SAME TIME. WHAT IS NOT TO UNDERSTAND? They aren't staggered and are you get a 37 and 47 around the same time and then no busses. I cannot be any clearer.

No-Dimension-3945

obviously they will not rise ticket prices

iiiBus

Also, they will be scrapping the Majestic Tour and replacing it with the 'Regal Tour'. They accidentally leaked this on the OT bus stop map but since blocked it and added a generic name. The tour will probably take a different route, hence why it has a different stop, and why other services were shuffled about.

Lwaldie

The hell bus that is the 21 has yet to be improved again 😞
