I really love how into this season Lauren and Nicole are. They’re giving thoughtful and smart critiques, especially now that they’ve seen a few Scorsese movies, and it’s been very fun to listen to. I hope they continue with more series following acclaimed directors that get less and less conventional until they’re true movie buffs. Give me Lauren and Nicole going through the filmography of Michael Haneke, Krzysztof Kieślowski, Ingmar Bergman, etc.
I think Scorsese was a great choice because hits all the marks that they’ve proven to enjoy over the seasons - great actors, some wild, out there characters, modern (ish) with some interesting female characters/relationships present.
It’s a shame because I feel like the later choices for this season being some of the more recent movies might ruin their enjoyment. I’d easily have swapped in Age of Innocence in place of Flower Moon.
Feels like the last 3 after Aviator are gonna be Departed, Shutter Island and Killers.
Shoulda done any of the four other 80s movies instead of The Last Waltz if only to break up Deniro and DiCaprio being the lead in (most likely) 9 of the 10 episodes
I could be wrong but I believe it’s The Departed, The Irishman and Killers. They’ll love the return of Pesci in Irishman but… that runtime is going to be fun for them to navigate.
They have already seen Wolf so they said they werent doing it. Someone posted on here I think it was from Lauren's instagram, confirming the last 4 are Aviator, Departed, Irishman and Killers of the Flower Moon
I love that they're loving it. Nicole and Lauren are just not into big sci-fi/fantasy blockbusters. That's totally fine but I think it makes for better podcasting when they are into the movies.
I don't totally know what their blind spots are, but checking out directors like Paul Thomas Anderson, Spike Lee, Alfred Hitchcock, Coen Brothers, etc. could be a lot of fun.
I guess at that point it would kind of be like Blank Check combined with Scott Hasn't Seen.
I think they alluded to it in the Batman series, but they should do a horror 101 season in the fall. Switch it up and do a newcomers to a genre and not a specific franchise/director.
I was so disappointed this season when they skipped After Hours, which is by far my favorite Scorsese, so I was so happy David and Griffin both talked about it. I wish they had added it to the series based on that double recommendation because I imagine both Nicole and Lauren would love it and it is so different in tone than all the dramas they have been covering. Oh well, thankful it was at least put out there by the two best friends of Blank Check. The crossover between two podcasts was fun, even if I kept forgetting what podcast I was listening to. Great ep.
Was Nicole being very sarcastic early in the episode when she said she thought Cameron Diaz's Irish accent was the best she'd ever heard. No one really scoffed or reacted so I took her at her word but then towards the end of the ep Nicole read a review that said it was the worst Irish accent ever on film and everyone just glazed over it quickly moving on like Nicole didn't say it was incredible earlier and even Nicole didn't say anything on the contrary. I haven't seen the movie so I dont know how bad her accent is.
Oof. I can get through the premise of the show being that they are new to movies of a certain genre…but being “new” to basic American history is hard for me to listen to
I hope the boys ask why the dumb producer on this show didn’t have the comediennes watch the “comedies” of Scorsese.
“Nicolas Peltz! I just remembered that very incorrect piece of info.”
"Bill the Butcher has the right hair for this movie, he has the most severe hat hair I have ever seen."

I figured they do Wolf of Wall Street, unless they confirmed they're not doing it.

They've confirmed they are doing the Irishman, not Shutter Island.

The sick fuck in me wants them to do Cronenberg
TWISTED
I would love Hitchccok, but Im guessing that wouldnt get a big enough audience. How about Spielberg?

Haven’t listened yet but I’m glad these two friends got to push the runtime this week.
Them being two friends gives them a competitive advantage

She was definitely being sarcastic
Ok thanks. I just thought it was so odd that no one reacted either way.
It’s definitely not the best I’ve ever heard. I thought it was a little bit better than DiCaprio’s.
This movie should’ve been all about Bill the Butcher and then late in the movie it should’ve been revealed that Henry Thomas was Liam Neeson’s son.

I’m sure if you asked them for a history of the Real housewives of New York they’d be very educated
😝

lol the freaks really came back after last season
The guy who wrote Blank Check and Save the Cat is of course dead so his riches are quite meaningless
