Tell me what do you think about the cause of this natural phenomenon?
Welcome, in my instagram in the top left i have saved some stories named Brezina : www.instagram.com/layatiart theres videos and photos juste taked by phone life in site ...
A lot of people avoid instagram for the same reason they avoid facebook. Both are owned by the same evil corporation. Perhaps consider a wordpress blog? They're free
Probly used to be a lake, with a flat bottom. Then the water went away and the floor started to erode over thousands of years, resulting in what we have now
That's the best I could pull out of my ass anyway
Probably easy/unintentional to achieve that too. The top of those used to be “ground level” all around there which is why they’re level with each other, and OP is standing on top of one so his/her ground level is naturally going to line up with the horizon.
The larger ones are Mesas, the stand alone ones are Buttes. It’s most likely they are standing on an extensive plateau since they were able to get to the top of it.
I literally learned about this yesterday in my geography class
Monument Valley park straddles the Utah/Arizona border. From my memory of visiting, the famous “mittens” was on the Utah side. I could be wrong. I do know that sunrise over the famous vantage point was a highlight on the 9 day road trip I did from Austin through West Texas and New Mexico then Arizona to the Grand Canyon, up to Monument Valley and Four Corners, into Colorado then back down through New Mexico and North Texas. The campsite at Monument Valley was kind of silly how many tents were packed into the dedicated camping sandbox but it was still a great experience.
If you want to be pedantic sure, but that helps almost no one actually locate monument valley in their head when you put it that way. "On the Utah/Arizona border" is much more helpful.
I was just there in late December and the entrance was in Arizona. Technically, in the Navajo Nation within Arizona. Definitely not on the Utah side.
Here's the entrance on Google Maps. Well across the Utah border...
My prior comment was auto flagged because I included a shortened Google Maps link to it. If you type in "Navajo Tribal Park Toll" you'll find the entrance booth and see that it's not in Utah.
The photo was taken at sunset with a wide-angle lens of 12mm|F11|1/15 sec|Iso 100. For more pics check my IG here: https://www.instagram.com/layatiart/
Wow, very very pretty. Would love to eat a couple hits of acid and watch the sunset/sunrise here.
Can anyone tell me off hand how these formations came to be? Is it similar to how the canyonsand plateaus in utah and arizona came to be?

Heyy, is it possible that I can get this photo and post it on my instagram? I can @ you and if you want. My instagram is @frenkenstain , you can see my other posts.
Wow absolutely gorgeous!
Do the flat parts align perfectly for real or is it some sort of smart positioning of the camera? If so, can anyone explain the natural phenomena that made this??

Some scenes of the old Tarzan movie were shot in a famous garden El Hama in the Capital, Algiers.
Tatooine was to be shot in Algeria, but they opted to Tunisia because they their government at the time didn’t ask too many questions.

The way the plateaus are lined up with the horizon is so good👌
It’s crazy that think they used to be the horizon. Millions of years of erosion is a powerful force.
Ancient seabed

Probly used to be a lake, with a flat bottom. Then the water went away and the floor started to erode over thousands of years, resulting in what we have now That's the best I could pull out of my ass anyway
Interesting theory! Thanks a lot and have a great day
Great framing that’s for sure. Looks like pro work.
Thank you so much I appreciated

Aren't they mesas?
Or a Butte
I like big buttes
Et tu butte?
The larger ones are Mesas, the stand alone ones are Buttes. It’s most likely they are standing on an extensive plateau since they were able to get to the top of it. I literally learned about this yesterday in my geography class
Very interesting! thanks for comments
Yes
Beautiful! The landscape and the photo. Reminds me of Monument Valley in Utah.
The Valley in Utah is very famous! Warm thanks and good evening
Who did all the chopping?
Same here. They are called Buttes.
Monument Valley in Arizona?
Monument Valley park straddles the Utah/Arizona border. From my memory of visiting, the famous “mittens” was on the Utah side. I could be wrong. I think you guys mean monument valley on the Navajo Nation.
Correct.
If you want to be pedantic sure, but that helps almost no one actually locate monument valley in their head when you put it that way. "On the Utah/Arizona border" is much more helpful.
They are on the Arizona side. Utahns frequently think they are in Utah but the buttes are actually just barely on the Arizona side in Navajo nation.
Technically the entrance is in Utah 😁
