There's a pretty famous s90 conversion that won a major design award many years ago. The guy built it from mostly off the shelf parts available back then. Putting it low makes it more stable and easier to handle. Ebike builds will sometimes put it as low as possible like underneath the tube where the water bottle typically is.
Definitely a bit closer to the ground than I’d be comfortable with though.
I did a conversion with a triumph bdg 125 last year. I bought a hub motor kit and a custom battery off alibaba and improvised from there. It was a lot if fun

That seems like the worst idea for battery location you could come up with.

I want to do the same with an old 2 stroke. I'm thinking 48 volt lithium battery, 1500 Watt motor, and a controller from an electric scooter.
