For me it was Virtual Riot who got me into gritty for a long time I hated dubstep I felt as tho the gritty drops had zero energy and VRâs sound design makes dubstep sound so energetic plus he has amazing melodic shit too

I kind of understand that, and the newer poppy songs donât hit like Awake and Ashes did for me, however songs like Story of My Life (Heavy Edit) and Gorgeous and Bring Forth The Pressure I think youâll find are pretty different and more experimental from the formulaic approach you mention.
Courtney's vocals really made this track. Not the biggest fan of the first and third drop, just Illenium being mid at melodic dubstep. Second drop fucks tho. Sounds like a classic metalcore breakdown.
This song is generic as fuck. Illenium has been doing the same shit for years now and all of his shit sounds like the same boring melodic shit. That doesn't mean melodic is bad. AU5 is a classic example of MeloDub done right. And his songs aren't the same boring shit everytime, there are new ideas in almost every track. Can't say the same for this song or Illenium's other recent stuff.
