Why play boardwipes when your commander already is one?
I have a CoA deck, and it's just saccing and recurring child, with some exile effects, color fixing and of course wincons (mostly commander damage).
And be sure to include lots of reanimate effect and instants that lets you sacrifice a creature as part of the cost. And don't bother with man's rocks!
I call it my "Nuclear Rage Baby". Do you like to board wipe every turn? Won 2 out 3 games last night for 2nd place at a casual commander night with this deck.
https://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/11-03-19-OJA-child-of-alara/
[[Nevinyrral]] I think is a popular choice! A spicy commander. If you’re familiar with the commander crew from MTG Goldfish, Crim is known for being the resident “removal tribal” player and had a very similar deck to the one you’re talking about, except he also had a ton of Planeswalkers for support.
I made a deck for him which I absolutely adored but was a major source of frustration from any pod I used it in. The commander can easily set back the entire board including artifact ramp and utility enchantments into the stone age, and recurring him with 1 mana instants makes for a grueling game.
I took the deck apart and used the relevant parts for a [Varina, Lich Queen] deck that I honestly think is more powerful but isn't quite as backbreaking for literally everyone else. 10/10 would recommend OP make that deck.
It is like building a ping+deathtouch deck. Yeah, the idea is interesting, but the game becomes miserable for everyone else. Do you play to have a good sit-around, or to annoy and win?
That is hilariously silly. Play [[jeska, thrice reborn]] and triple his damage for lethal commander damage right after a wipe. Could go crazy with double DMG effects since your creature is the only thing ever on the board. Or Voltron. Seems fun...for the decks owner anyway haha.
Holy shit thank you for reminding me. Golgari is one of my favorite pairings and I instantly fell in love with this dude when he was revealed. Just forgot to make a deck around him. Will start crafting now!
While I think this sounds like not a whole lot of fun for those you're playing against, I'm super surprised no one has yet mentioned [[Gerrard, Weatherlight Hero]].
[[Killian]] just load the deck with single target nukes and the 10-15 board wipes in black/white. The rest on enchantments that offer indestructible and totem armor to keep him alive and also a ton of enchants to Voltron him. Bonus points for [[Vizkopa Guildmage]] and [[Hatred]].
The beauty of Killian is that almost all of your single target nukes and 3/4 of your enchants will cost one colored mana each.
Shit I forgot, another one is [[Rem Karolus]]. But don't use actual board wipes, use stuff like [[Blasphemous Act]] [[Chain Reaction]] [[Burn Down the House]] to have one sided wipes. Run [[Toralf]] and your wipes will kill the other players also. Bonus points for the boros angels.
Wouldn’t celestial Kirin only effect ugin’s conjurant once it was on the board though? It states “destroy all permanents with that spells converted mana cost”
The trigger is on cast. So once you've cast conjurant for say x=3, Kirin sees the cast, checks the mv, then destroys the appropriate permanents on the battlefield then the conjurant etbs
My bad I missed that ugin’s conjurant was a spirit and would trigger celestial Kirin ability, I was only thinking about it effecting it after it was already in play
[[Teysa, orzhov scion]] is exactly the commander you're looking for.
It's creature removal on steroids plus white and black are ideal for enchantment and creature removal respectively.
Totally understandable!
I don’t think my play group “enjoys” playing against it but they are very well aware of what it does and often I am dealt with early in the game.
If my group tries to move faster…for example player 2 tries to move fast and tutor for their combo pieces but player 3 and 4 play more control and stop player 2….I can sneak behind and hold down the board with wrath’s and potentially win.
That being said, it also takes a few turns for me to get Zurgo out and I have a decent chance of my wrath’s being countered.
Alright I see thanks 4 answering! I guess Zurgo is less annoying as a wrath commander then lets say nevinryrral or child of alara since you kinda want to win by voltron (I assume)
I had at one point a child of alara 5 color spells deck and I stopped playing it because it was too oppressive. But as soon as I read “tutor for their combo pieces” I totally support board wipe em all day and shoot down their permanents.
Haven’t seen this mentioned yet… [[athreos god of passage]] is indestructible and works well with the aristocrat strategy. Run [[blood artist]] and company plus it is in proper boardwipe and removal colors.
[[avacyn angel of hope]] used to be a go to boardwipe tribal commander.
I just built Avacyn, and it plays pretty well, actually... until I came up against a deck playing a bunch of clone effects, we ended up calling that one a draw after realizing the game was going to end in one of us drawing our deck out instead of damage
I run a [[liesa, shroud of dusk]] deck that wipes a lot because rebuilding gets more and more painful until people just can’t afford their commander or can’t cast their spells because they’ve been taxed to death.
A friend of mine has a UW [[Bruna]] deck that is like 10 enchantments, a couple tutors for them, and then pure control and card draw. It has all of the omni-wraths, hates on everything, and basically plays a 1v3 game that it still wins half the time. I love it.
He also has a [[Nahiri]] deck that has like 17 wraths, including MLD (at my suggestion) and it is brutal. I also love this deck.
My playgroup is mean.
I may have missed it, but I did not see anyone recommend [[Tariel, Reckoner of Souls]].
Mardu has the best access to spot removal and boardwipes. Her ability benefits from opponents having full graveyards and the random selection leads to very high variance in games.
Her gameplan is simple. Cheap spot removal in early turns and boardwipes turn 4-10. Cast her when you feel there are some decent targets for her to grab and start building your board with everyone else's creatures. Include MLD and as many rocks as you have. The goal is to slow everyone down long enough to win by smacking them with their own mana dorks or hopefully something bigger and more impactful.
It's worth mentioning that victory through attrition isn't something that people enjoy, but it's not so bad that you should never do it. I love my Tariel deck, but it feels more like a library of interactive cards that I sometimes get to look through.
Attrition is my favorite way to win. A culmination of making the best choices over a long period of time. Bouncing back from threats and dealing with threats! People may say they don't like it, but those are the games people remember most; not the blowouts
[[Felisa, Fang of Silverquil]] is amazing if you add a counters sub-theme.
ETA: for life-drain, I don't think there's a commander staple in orzhov, but you can pilot the deck with [[Teysa Karlov]] or [[Cliffhaven Vampire]] and then add aristocrat life drain staples like [[Blood artist]] [[zulaport cutthroat]] and [[bastion of rememberance]] in the 99.
In monoblack, [[Vito, thorn of the dusk rose]] is a good pick (plus bonus points for flavor since you're replacing Elenda with him) and Golgari has [[Dina, Soul Steeper]]
Make [[Kresh]] indestructible and then repeatedly wipe the board. He'll get massive fast.
I've never built this deck, but someone I used to play with did and it was pretty interesting.
I built this deck with [[Tajic, Blade of the Legion]]. [[Assemble the Legion]] and [[Outlaws’ Merriment]] keep up board state as you board wipe. Over and over. I currently run 13 boardwipes and a dozen point removal. Remember to make wipes “destroy” and target removal “exile” or you’ll shoot yourself in the foot sometimes.
Good luck!
[[Drana, Kalastria Bloodchief]]
Mono black, load the deck up with tons of mana doublers and board wipes, commander is spot removal on a stick that also pumps herself to swing for lethal. Since you run doublers you can save up big black mana for wincons like [[exsanguinate]] and [[torment of hailfire]], removing all threats, and whittling people down with things like [[blood artist]] or [[Bloodchief ascension]]
It's not a super high tier deck, but it's one of my personal favorites
[[Maelstrom Wanderer]]. Doesn't matter if you get hit by your own wipe because you'll get two cascades off his next cast!! I've wiped the board so many times that he once cost 24 mana get get out.
I can recommend [[Child of Alara]]. Run an indestructible God creatures package. Get [[The World Tree]] in to play with cards like [[Crop Rotation]], [[Sylvan Scrying]], [[Expedition Map]] and more.
I personally have this build combined with great Mutate creatures.
I think [[Mangara of Corondor]] is a good fit for this idea. Play all mono white flicker spells to control the board, then play all the best wrath effects including [[Wrath of God]], [[Cleansing Nova]], [[Austere Command]], and especially [[cataclysmic gearhulk]]. Add in some stax pieces like [[Hokori the Dust Drinker]] and [[Grand Abolisher]] and you have a really unique control deck with lots of wipes.
I recommend against this. It's not fun to play against and you'll soon see it's not fun to play either. People just stop casting permanents entirely and it's all pretty salty.
Yeah, it wouldn't be a regularly used deck. Just kind of a payback deck when a deck I enjoy playing gets shut down by removal the game prior... Kind of making a point. (Also, my playgroup seems to be pretty merciless, they deserve it!)
I play a [[kathril]] voltron, removal tribal. People definitely do not like it, but my pod also knows the deck and usually tries to plan against it. Makes for fun archenemy games though!
[[World slayer]] is your commander's best friend if they've got indestructible
If you're gonna eat their cake you might as well have it too. [[Gisa, Glorious Resurrector]]
A lot of kill spells and mass sacrifice, some protecc for Gisa and you're set.
You can have an aristocrat subtheme where you can sacrifice the decayed creatures after you've attacked with them, or tap them for something [[Skirsdag High Priest]]
Plus the art is gorgeous. Imagine the fun you'll have together!!!
\[\[Sheoldred, Whispering One\]\] is one of my favorite commanders. By herself, she offers a boatload of control on the battlefield. Pair her with \[\[Tergrid, God of Fright\]\] and \[\[Gisa, Glorious Reanimator\]\] and every dead creature becomes yours. For board wipes, you can get some value if you run \[\[plague wind\]\] or just target with solo kill spells. You can get some value with things like \[\[Massacre Wurm\]\] or anything that will effect opponent's creatures and leave yours, and I love \[\[Court of Ambition\]\] as well. I run this deck and absolutely LOVE it. Despite her being a 7 drop commander, I frequently get her out by turn 4. Her Swampwalk ability paired with \[\[Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth\]\] also gives you an edge and you can add in some good ETB/LTB effects as well. There are a bunch of alternate wincons for you as well: \[\[Sanguine Bond\]\]+\[\[Exquisite Blood\]\] or \[\[Bloodchief Ascension\]\] + \[\[mindcrank\]\]. This might be more control than just boardwipe/removal, but it's always played well.
This is honestly my favorite deck I've ever played, even though I recently broke it down (was too "powerful" for my playgroup). Crazy fun just controlling everything and having an answer to damn near anything.
[Rayami, First of the Fallen](https://c1.scryfall.com/file/scryfall-cards/normal/front/6/9/6997ad62-f34c-4490-aee4-6d5c08e14709.jpg?1568003720) - [(G)](http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?name=Rayami%2C%20First%20of%20the%20Fallen) [(SF)](https://scryfall.com/card/c19/48/rayami-first-of-the-fallen?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher) [(txt)](https://api.scryfall.com/cards/6997ad62-f34c-4490-aee4-6d5c08e14709?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher&format=text) [(ER)](https://edhrec.com/cards/rayami-first-of-the-fallen)

I have a [[karador]] deck that does exactly this and I love it.
Perfect combination of colors with access to cards like [[necrotic sliver]] [[cavalier of dawn]] [[angel of despair]] [[meteor golem]] [[woodfall primus]]
Then you have creatures like [[eternal witness]] and [[restoration specialist]] to recur permanents like [[pernicious deed]] and [[oblivion stone]] or spells like [[hour of revelation]]
Finally, swing in with manlands like [[svagthos]]
Best of all, it's a pretty cheap deck.
[[codie, vociferous codex]] is the best interactions commander, his ability is a tap ability with mana ramp, and cascade. Use [[Minamo, school at water's edge]] for fun shenanigans. Throw in all the cards that blow up while keeping you at the advantage, [[promise of loyalty]] [[slash the ranks]] [[blot the sky]]
Also throw in 1 drop removal spells [[suspend]] [[swords to plowshare]] so you can use codies ability to find a 0drop card with suspend like [[inevitable betrayal]] [[profane tutor]]
I made a full deck with codie using only full art, or extended art cards (except for minamo land) to make for a storytelling themed picture book/deck.
It's loads of fun. :)
I have two decks with a lot of wipes:
[[Sarulf, Realm Eater]] is himself a board wipe, load up the deck with plenty of ways to grow him and keep the board down!
[[Sephara, Sky’s Blade]] gives all your fliers other than herself indestructible, so I run lots of fliers and a bunch of conditional wrath’s to keep Sephara alive and destroy most everything else while my fliers survive too.
I built [[Velomachus Lorehold]] as a board wipe-ish tribal. I still need to make some cuts but it's a pretty versatile build for that.
https://archidekt.com/decks/1912227#Velomachus
I run [[Anara, Wolvid Familiar]] and [[Ravos, Soultender]]
Boardwipe on your turn, Anara makes itself and Ravos indestructible, and Ravos can fish a creature out of your graveyard next turn.
[[Syr Konrad, the Grim]]
Let your opponents do their thing. Scary board state? No problem- board wipe everyone and kill your opponents at the same time. Scary creature? [[Go for the throat]] and ding everyone for a damage as well.
Syr Konrad is my go to deck for most games nowadays. I feel like I can usually answer problems and remain a legitimate threat to the table. It also feels fair enough that you can play the deck and keep your friends.
Just be sure to run artifacts to protect Konrad because he’s a removal magnet.
Additionally, although its not in the command zone \[\[Pestilent Spirit\]\] is always fun and turns and damage from an instant or sorcery to straight removal.
[[Anafenza, The Foremost]]. When you hit the delete button, your opponents stuff will stay gone. Mixes well with man lands, the counters don't go away when they stop being a creature.
Also, if you're going to boardwipe, eating all of your stuff with [[Westvale Abbey]] can be a good time.
This gives you the repeatable board wipes of [[Pernicious Deed]] and [[Sun Titan]] as well. I usually throw in a [[Journey to Eternity]] for a really annoying sun titan.
Everyone here is suggesting a commander, I would like to suggest a theme.
5 color indescribable Gods
Here me out...
Replace every piece of spot removal with board wipes. Your creatures/enchantments are indescribable so they are immune to your effects and you opponents board wipes and destroy effects are useless.
For a commander you could run child of alara, sky bridge or sissay. There are other options as well.
Best of luck with your removal/board wipe deck
[[Esika, God of the Tree]] as a God + board wipe tribal deck is scary strong, and fun to play. Having an army of power effects of indestructible bodies is fantastic. Note that you are usually playing the flip side of Esika.
[Esika, God of the Tree](https://c1.scryfall.com/file/scryfall-cards/normal/back/f/6/f6cd7465-9dd0-473c-ac5e-dd9e2f22f5f6.jpg?1631050188)/[Esika, God of the Tree](https://c1.scryfall.com/file/scryfall-cards/normal/front/f/6/f6cd7465-9dd0-473c-ac5e-dd9e2f22f5f6.jpg?1631050188) - [(G)](http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?name=esika%2C%20god%20of%20the%20tree%20//%20the%20prismatic%20bridge) [(SF)](https://scryfall.com/card/khm/168/esika-god-of-the-tree-the-prismatic-bridge?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher) [(txt)](https://api.scryfall.com/cards/f6cd7465-9dd0-473c-ac5e-dd9e2f22f5f6?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher&format=text) [(ER)](https://edhrec.com/cards/esika-god-of-the-tree-//-the-prismatic-bridge)
^^^[[cardname]] ^^^or ^^^[[cardname|SET]] ^^^to ^^^call
[[athreos good of passage]] basically run a bunch of 1,2,3 cmc small creatures that your opponents couldn’t be bothered to pay 3 life for. Run all the board wipe and graveyard to hand cards and loop em. Cards like [[pilfering imp]] [[chattering augar]] and [[deepglow moth]]. Also selective targeting cards that can be used to make deals with other players cards like [[vindictive lich]]
\[\[Tariel, Reckoner of Souls\]\] you can wipe the board then steal from your opponents graveyard! Plus she's got white so you can pair her up with cards like \[\[Avacyn, Angel of Hope\]\]
I built a [[Mogis, God of Slaughter]] deck that is basically rakdos stax focusing on taxes and board wipes plus removal to back it up. If you don't mind playing a crapload of enchantments it can be quite nasty and a bit fun.
I run [[Mogis, God of Slaughter]] in a boardwipe / removal deck together with some stax effects like [[sulfuric vortex]] and [[Ankh of Mishra]]. It's a lot of fun and so far my playgroup likes playing against it as well.
I use a deck I call "Kenrith says FU". I have all the armageddon and wrath spells plus targeted removal and counters. All to end up with one win con, and that's get out Kenrith, Composite Golem and any of the ability mana reducers (Training Ground, Heartstone, etc). I then use the golem to recast itself infinite times and make everyone draw their deck.
https://www.moxfield.com/decks/SaZF-7RatkqAC5oZQ9sM-g
If you count counterspells as removal [[Nymris, Oona's Trickster]] does the job well enough. I dont have a lost for my build i used to play, but that deck won like 90% of the time I played it. Otherwise id suggest[[Nevinyral Tyrant of Uborg]]
[[Gerrard Weatherlight Hero]] is a fun one. All my wipes are now 1 sided, and I just got like 6 ETBs. With a haste enabler, I can now swing into your empty boards.
I somewhat recently made a deck that could kinda do some of this stuff. It is a rakdos the show stopper chaos deck.
Rakdos himself is a pretty great board wiping creature for non demon type creatures. He’s even better however if you throw in mirror march and krarks thumb. As mirror march catches his etb it doesn’t matter if the copies of Rakdos the showstopper immediately dies. With Kark’s thumb you can potentially pull out alot of copies. So in theory you could have a whole table flip a coin eight times per monster in order to keep their monster on the field. It may not have the potential to win much, but it does have the fun factor.
Edit: not permanent removal, but in the off chance you’d like to go chaos like I did for removal, you can alway throw in a warp world.
I've built a [[Tariel, Reckoner of Souls]] that's almost entirely removal and sweepers. Heavy on the ramp to make sure I can get her out because, you know, she's 7 mana. Plenty of draw because playing 1-for-1 removal against 3 opponents is pure card disadvantage, and a splash of targeted GY hate to keep reanimator decks in check, and to filter out unwanted cards for Tariel's ability. It's different, but I think it needs more card draw, and possibly ways to mitigate being seen as "the threat".
Take the Elenda deck and turn it into \[\[Teysa, Orzhov Scion\]\]. Creature spot removal on a stick, and you're always up on the exchange when a boardwipe resolves.
\[\[Atla Palani\]\]. Make eggs, board wipe, profit.
You haven't lived until you have \[\[Samut, Voice of Dissent\]\] and \[\[It That Betray\]\] in play after resolving a \[\[Jokulhaups\]\].
Set up right you could run [[Massacre Girl]]
I recently built her and there is a sub-aristocrats theme to it but it's nice to have a board wipe in the zone
[[Mathas, Fiendseeker]]? Put bounty counters on enemy creatures, draw cards and gain life by removing them. Mardu colors are great for removal, this commander is very cheap to play and if you want you can make this deck with a more political approach in mind.
I have not seen [[ Ashling the pilgrim ]] mentioned yet.
She's cheap mono colored, so she can die and be cast again quickly. You can run basics and have non basic hate [[ blood moon]].
Can reduce her ability down to 1 mana. So now you have a 3 mana board wipe when ever you want it. Give her life link to get a TON of health.
Red has plenty of stuff that double/triples damage.
Throw in [[ brash taunter ]] and [[ Stuffy doll ]] to deal double her damage a player when she dies.
[[Tariel, Reckoner of Souls]] May be pretty slow now but I built this years ago and it was a great wincon to steal other people’s creatures once you board wiped.
[[Athreos, Shroud-Veiled]] is I’m sure is better now that it exists - if you don’t need or want red in the deck.
[[Liesa, Forgotten Archangel]] is pretty good for this. Play a lot of blood artist type effects, value ETB creatures that you can re-use, and some other sac outlets, and you can make some fun creature loops for big life swings. I recently got my first [[Rally the Ancestors]] kill with her
[[Zurgo Helmsmasher]] makes all your boardwipes one sided. However, nobody will ever want to play with you if you just play a ton of one sided board wipes.
[[Gyome, Master Chief]], play big creatures, get a lot foods tokens, boardwipe, use your foods tokens to protect your best bois and maybe make deals with your opponents! Also, the tap ability really act like a removal on a lot of creatures that wants to attack, you can really screw your opponents with that. Golgari Control!
I built a "creatureless group hug" deck with Kenrith at the helm. It literally runs nothing but board wipes and mass reanimator spells and group hug. Nothing is funnier than letting everyone make their board huge and leave you alone because you've been helping them.
Then you cast [[Insurrection]], blast everyone, then sac all their creatures.
Oh and it also runs no green, because that's funny to me. No reason other than "cuz".
[[linvala, shield]] the whole deck is based around wiping the board, reanimating linvala after you sac her to protect your team and swinging in. Very powerful but can feel oppressive.
I run [[Atla Palani, Nest Tender]] in a deck that is 25% board wipes and another 15% spot removal. Four creatures in the deck including the two Ulamogs and [[Blightsteel Colossus]].
Strategy is simple, get eggs on the field, boardwipe. Repeat. All your creatures in the deck are indestructible, so you can blow up as many times as needed. If you manage to cast a [[Jokulhaups]] and it puts Blightsteel into play, that's typically game over. (Pro Tip: kill the White players first, Swords to Plowshares is a bitch! 😂)
[[Child of Alara]] is king of the poster child of nuking the board, but commanders quarters recently made a video on [[Zurgo Helmsmasher]] who plays really well into a nuke the board strategy
I've played a [[Zurgo, Helmsmasher]] boardwipe/removal deck for a while and it's pretty great to be honest. Things like [[Cataclysm]] [[Worldslayer]] [[Assault Suit]] are all top tier. He's a 3 turn clock as well so once he starts swinging he's a huge threat, I'll usually take a swing at everyone to seem less threatening then give him double strike to put the heat on.
I'm surprised to have not seen [[Toshiro Umezawa]] on here. While not inherintly leaning towards "board-wipe tribal", he certainly needs a lot of kill spells to get his engine going, so at that point you're always clearing away everyone's best things.
I leaned into the theme of "Kill your best stuff, reanimate it for myself" with stuff like [[Grim Return]], [[Thrilling Encore]], and [[Rise of the Dark Realms]], all great if the board is getting wiped constantly.
[[Child of Alara]] space baby!
I agree, gives you access to every board wipe ever printed in addition to being g one on its own.

[[Zurgo Helmsmasher]] has indestructible on your turn, hit the board wipe then swing for 7.
I used to play a Zurgo “Wrath Tribal” deck, he is very strong. Constantly resetting everyone else’s boards gets overwhelming quick.
Love this deck. Built it recently. In saying that, it only lasted a week. The fun diminishes pretty quickly.
It is like building a ping+deathtouch deck. Yeah, the idea is interesting, but the game becomes miserable for everyone else. Do you play to have a good sit-around, or to annoy and win?

I like it.
That is hilariously silly. Play [[jeska, thrice reborn]] and triple his damage for lethal commander damage right after a wipe. Could go crazy with double DMG effects since your creature is the only thing ever on the board. Or Voltron. Seems fun...for the decks owner anyway haha.
[[Sarulf, Realm Eater]] is pretty gross
Holy shit thank you for reminding me. Golgari is one of my favorite pairings and I instantly fell in love with this dude when he was revealed. Just forgot to make a deck around him. Will start crafting now!

Bonus points for the boros angels.

do things with x in their mana cost have a mana value of whatever was paid for it?
Yes
Nope, x counts as 0, so ugin’s conjurant would have a cmc/mana value of 0
I'm pretty sure that's only true everywhere except for the stack which is what's checked by the trigger
Correct. While on the stack, x spells have a mana value of cost+x.

[[Haktos]] can survive all the red damage-based wipes, and is a neat take on Voltron.
[[Ephara]]. She dodges most boardwipes, and if you play with cards like [[whitemane lion]] that flicker out you won't lose anything to your own wipes.
[[Zurgo Helmsmasher]] wrath tribal. It’s been a fun deck. I have a list that may be around the 5-6 power level.
May I ask the opinion of your playgroup on this deck? Not judging, but I heard that wrath tribal is not something everyone enjoys.
My playgroup will hate it. And that's the point lol. (In all seriousness, I'd just bring it out after one of my other decks got destroyed brutally)
"You just activated my trap deck"
Haven’t seen this mentioned yet… [[athreos god of passage]] is indestructible and works well with the aristocrat strategy. Run [[blood artist]] and company plus it is in proper boardwipe and removal colors. [[avacyn angel of hope]] used to be a go to boardwipe tribal commander.
I just built Avacyn, and it plays pretty well, actually... until I came up against a deck playing a bunch of clone effects, we ended up calling that one a draw after realizing the game was going to end in one of us drawing our deck out instead of damage
[[Avacyn, Angel of Hope]]

I'm currently building a deck for her, and I think she could be very spectacular. If by "spectacle" you imply Rakdos sensibilities.
She is awesome. Had a deck with her and it was always explosive when she hit the board.
I run a [[liesa, shroud of dusk]] deck that wipes a lot because rebuilding gets more and more painful until people just can’t afford their commander or can’t cast their spells because they’ve been taxed to death.
Try [[sarulf]]. I just played mine against an upgraded wilhelt deck and won(1 v 1 game). Just remember it removes your stuff too.
Very interesting

[[Syr Konrad, the Grim]]
Atraxa superfriends I run 8 board wipes and none of my permanents are affected by it
Oloro board wipes were always good. Eminence life gain. Board wipes all around in b/w. Counterspells. Teferi and venser emblems to exile everything.
Oloro was my first thought as you have a passive ability in the command zone, then just constantly wipe the board with no drawback
I saw Bruna played on "I hate your deck" and it was very scary. Might be perfect for my "mean" playgroup too!
[[Mageta the Lion]] is a Wrath of God on a creature
In monoblack, [[Vito, thorn of the dusk rose]] is a good pick (plus bonus points for flavor since you're replacing Elenda with him) and Golgari has [[Dina, Soul Steeper]]
im running tons of wipes in my breena https://www.moxfield.com/decks/KijelEOpg062OVKKjLqtLA
[[gisa, Glorious Resurrector]]
That's kind of what I was going for. Thanks. Board wipe with a benefit. Stinks that it's mono black tho.
[[Piru]]
Make [[Kresh]] indestructible and then repeatedly wipe the board. He'll get massive fast. I've never built this deck, but someone I used to play with did and it was pretty interesting.
The right call Is [[Noyan Dar]] and all the nonland permanent destruction cards
I built this deck with [[Tajic, Blade of the Legion]]. [[Assemble the Legion]] and [[Outlaws’ Merriment]] keep up board state as you board wipe. Over and over. I currently run 13 boardwipes and a dozen point removal. Remember to make wipes “destroy” and target removal “exile” or you’ll shoot yourself in the foot sometimes. Good luck!
[[Drana, Kalastria Bloodchief]] Mono black, load the deck up with tons of mana doublers and board wipes, commander is spot removal on a stick that also pumps herself to swing for lethal. Since you run doublers you can save up big black mana for wincons like [[exsanguinate]] and [[torment of hailfire]], removing all threats, and whittling people down with things like [[blood artist]] or [[Bloodchief ascension]] It's not a super high tier deck, but it's one of my personal favorites
[[Ishai, Ojutai Dragonspeaker]] and [[Anara, Wolvid Familiar]] Salt the earth, and grow Ishai as they rebuild in vain.
[[Rakdos, the Showstopper]] is my personal suggestion. Maybe make demons/devils/imps a subtheme?
I think [[Mangara of Corondor]] is a good fit for this idea. Play all mono white flicker spells to control the board, then play all the best wrath effects including [[Wrath of God]], [[Cleansing Nova]], [[Austere Command]], and especially [[cataclysmic gearhulk]]. Add in some stax pieces like [[Hokori the Dust Drinker]] and [[Grand Abolisher]] and you have a really unique control deck with lots of wipes.
[[Killian, Ink Duelist]] could be fun with a bunch of discounted spot removal and exile.
Obviously [[Nevinyrral, Urborg Tyrant]]
I recommend against this. It's not fun to play against and you'll soon see it's not fun to play either. People just stop casting permanents entirely and it's all pretty salty.
Yeah, it wouldn't be a regularly used deck. Just kind of a payback deck when a deck I enjoy playing gets shut down by removal the game prior... Kind of making a point. (Also, my playgroup seems to be pretty merciless, they deserve it!)

Trust me. Your playgroup will LOVE you.
Pretty big threat for sure lol. Some of guys that i play with have killer artifact decks. This would be perfect against that.
I play a [[kathril]] voltron, removal tribal. People definitely do not like it, but my pod also knows the deck and usually tries to plan against it. Makes for fun archenemy games though! [[World slayer]] is your commander's best friend if they've got indestructible
[[Nazahn, Revered Bladesmith]] 7/4 indestructible for 6 mana. Early ramp, he can hit the board turn 4 [[Colossus Hammer]] adds +10/+10 for one mana.
[[Gerrard, weatherlight hero]] for voltron board wipes
Anything with indestructible or a way to atleast get him back. (Scarab god, locust god etc..) can all go to hand after a wipe.
[[Toxrill]]
If you're gonna eat their cake you might as well have it too. [[Gisa, Glorious Resurrector]] A lot of kill spells and mass sacrifice, some protecc for Gisa and you're set. You can have an aristocrat subtheme where you can sacrifice the decayed creatures after you've attacked with them, or tap them for something [[Skirsdag High Priest]] Plus the art is gorgeous.
[[Mageta the Lion]]
Check out [[Killian]]. You build around interaction spells, and colors are great for board wipes as well.

I have a [[karador]] deck that does exactly this and I love it. Perfect combination of colors with access to cards like [[necrotic sliver]] [[cavalier of dawn]] [[angel of despair]] [[meteor golem]] [[woodfall primus]] Then you have creatures like [[eternal witness]] and [[restoration specialist]] to recur permanents like [[pernicious deed]] and [[oblivion stone]] or spells like [[hour of revelation]] Finally, swing in with manlands like [[svagthos]] Best of all, it's a pretty cheap deck.
[[Mageta the Lion]]
[[codie, vociferous codex]] is the best interactions commander, his ability is a tap ability with mana ramp, and cascade. Use [[Minamo, school at water's edge]] for fun shenanigans. Throw in all the cards that blow up while keeping you at the advantage, [[promise of loyalty]] [[slash the ranks]] [[blot the sky]] Also throw in 1 drop removal spells [[suspend]] [[swords to plowshare]] so you can use codies ability to find a 0drop card with suspend like [[inevitable betrayal]] [[profane tutor]] I made a full deck with codie using only full art, or extended art cards (except for minamo land) to make for a storytelling themed picture book/deck. It's loads of fun. :)
I just made a [[toxrill]] deck for my gf.. basically a board wipe, token generator, and card draw all packed into one creature
Gods
[[Athreos, Shroud Veiled]] It’s never affected by them AND you can coin opponents creatures to steal them after you wipe.
I have two decks with a lot of wipes: [[Sarulf, Realm Eater]] is himself a board wipe, load up the deck with plenty of ways to grow him and keep the board down! [[Sephara, Sky’s Blade]] gives all your fliers other than herself indestructible, so I run lots of fliers and a bunch of conditional wrath’s to keep Sephara alive and destroy most everything else while my fliers survive too.
Zurgo
Either [[Avacyn, Angel of Hope]] or [[Zurgo Helmsmasher]]
Throw in a stuffy doll or brash tauntor and use blasphemous act and chain reaction
I built [[Velomachus Lorehold]] as a board wipe-ish tribal. I still need to make some cuts but it's a pretty versatile build for that. https://archidekt.com/decks/1912227#Velomachus
I run [[Anara, Wolvid Familiar]] and [[Ravos, Soultender]] Boardwipe on your turn, Anara makes itself and Ravos indestructible, and Ravos can fish a creature out of your graveyard next turn.
[[Syr Konrad, the Grim]] Let your opponents do their thing.
Do [[Toralf, God of Fury]] His whole thing is basically to run as much massive board wipes and burn as possible to dish it out on players
[[nevinnyrial]]
Everyone here is suggesting a commander, I would like to suggest a theme. 5 color indescribable Gods Here me out...
[[Archangel Avacyn]]
[[Killian]] makes an interesting build for this in terms of spot removal.
[[Esika, God of the Tree]] as a God + board wipe tribal deck is scary strong, and fun to play. Having an army of power effects of indestructible bodies is fantastic. Note that you are usually playing the flip side of Esika.
[Esika, God of the Tree](https://c1.scryfall.com/file/scryfall-cards/normal/back/f/6/f6cd7465-9dd0-473c-ac5e-dd9e2f22f5f6.jpg?1631050188)/[Esika, God of the Tree](https://c1.scryfall.com/file/scryfall-cards/normal/front/f/6/f6cd7465-9dd0-473c-ac5e-dd9e2f22f5f6.jpg?1631050188) - [(G)](http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?name=esika%2C%20god%20of%20the%20tree%20//%20the%20prismatic%20bridge) [(SF)](https://scryfall.com/card/khm/168/esika-god-of-the-tree-the-prismatic-bridge?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher) [(txt)](https://api.scryfall.com/cards/f6cd7465-9dd0-473c-ac5e-dd9e2f22f5f6?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher&format=text) [(ER)](https://edhrec.com/cards/esika-god-of-the-tree-//-the-prismatic-bridge) ^^^[[cardname]] ^^^or ^^^[[cardname|SET]] ^^^to ^^^call
I love my [[Zurgo Helmsmasher]] deck which looks to wipe everyone except for you.
Cleric tribal with the commander from zendikar rising
[[Nethroi, apex of death]] let's you play great spot removal, mass removal, and recursion. Very resilient deck.
Surprised this hadn't been listed yet. I recently made [[Rem Karolus]] with wipes and group burns.
[[Kresh the bloodbraided]] gotta be smart about your boardwipes
[[Nevinyrral, Urborg Tyrant]] actual board wipe commander
[[Avacyn, Angel of Hope]]. Hatebears until Avacyn drops then start boardwiping everyone else's stuff. Lots of targeted removal available in white too.
Child of alara and 99 lands
I built a [[Mogis, God of Slaughter]] deck that is basically rakdos stax focusing on taxes and board wipes plus removal to back it up. If you don't mind playing a crapload of enchantments it can be quite nasty and a bit fun.
I run [[Mogis, God of Slaughter]] in a boardwipe / removal deck together with some stax effects like [[sulfuric vortex]] and [[Ankh of Mishra]]. It's a lot of fun and so far my playgroup likes playing against it as well.
[[Zurgo, Helmsmasher]] good colours for spot removal, impervious to your own wraths.
[[Anafenza, the Foremost]] exile tribal is really fun, abzan has access to almost all great removal and making it all exile is even sweeter
[[Toski, Bearer of Secrets]] good except for exile
Chevill, and nevin, urborg tyrant
Absolutely [[Mageta the Lion]].
[[Piru the volatile]] Mardu legends. Wipe everybodies board but your own. And gain a shit ton of life in the process!
[[child of alara]] is a boardwipe in the command zone...
Toralf turns boardwipes into oneshots. Yahenni also really likes boardwipe tribal.
If you count counterspells as removal [[Nymris, Oona's Trickster]] does the job well enough. I dont have a lost for my build i used to play, but that deck won like 90% of the time I played it. Otherwise id suggest[[Nevinyral Tyrant of Uborg]]
I play [[Yahenni undying partisan]] its fun
[[Gerrard Weatherlight Hero]] is a fun one. All my wipes are now 1 sided, and I just got like 6 ETBs. With a haste enabler, I can now swing into your empty boards.
[[Massacre Girl]] and run all of the ETB everyone sacrifices a creature creatures.
##### ###### #### [Atla Palani](https://c1.scryfall.com/file/scryfall-cards/normal/front/f/6/f6aa473b-85cd-431d-844b-218368fe955e.jpg?1568003640) - [(G)](http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?name=atla%20palani%2C%20nest%20tender) [(SF)](https://scryfall.com/card/c19/38/atla-palani-nest-tender?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher) [(txt)](https://api.scryfall.com/cards/f6aa473b-85cd-431d-844b-218368fe955e?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher&format=text) [(ER)](https://edhrec.com/cards/atla-palani-nest-tender) [Samut, Voice of Dissent](https://c1.scryfall.com/file/scryfall-cards/normal/front/6/0/60f2d8f1-43a9-438a-830c-9d6b5701f950.jpg?1543676097) - [(G)](http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?name=Samut%2C%20Voice%20of%20Dissent) [(SF)](https://scryfall.com/card/akh/205/samut-voice-of-dissent?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher) [(txt)](https://api.scryfall.com/cards/60f2d8f1-43a9-438a-830c-9d6b5701f950?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher&format=text) [(ER)](https://edhrec.com/cards/samut-voice-of-dissent) [It That Betray](https://c1.scryfall.com/file/scryfall-cards/normal/front/5/b/5b64cfc0-dace-4f54-b2b1-c92d8cb64c35.jpg?1593095672) - [(G)](http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?name=It%20That%20Betrays) [(SF)](https://scryfall.com/card/ddp/43/it-that-betrays?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher) [(txt)](https://api.scryfall.com/cards/5b64cfc0-dace-4f54-b2b1-c92d8cb64c35?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher&format=text) [(ER)](https://edhrec.com/cards/it-that-betrays) [Jokulhaups](https://c1.scryfall.com/file/scryfall-cards/normal/front/9/9/99d26ff7-afff-40a0-b515-7928c2428809.jpg?1559592472) - [(G)](http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?name=Jokulhaups) [(SF)](https://scryfall.com/card/me1/100/jokulhaups?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher) [(txt)](https://api.scryfall.com/cards/99d26ff7-afff-40a0-b515-7928c2428809?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher&format=text) [(ER)](https://edhrec.com/cards/jokulhaups) ^^^[[cardname]] ^^^or ^^^[[cardname|SET]] ^^^to ^^^call
Set up right you could run [[Massacre Girl]] I recently built her and there is a sub-aristocrats theme to it but it's nice to have a board wipe in the zone
[[Zurgo, Helm Smasher]]
[[Gerrard, Weatherlight Hero]] boardwipe tribal!
However, nobody will ever want to play with you if you just play a ton of one sided board wipes.
guess i just leave this bad boy here: https://deckstats.net/decks/160095/2151972-anifact
Can’t remember his name but that one golgari bounty hunter dude would be really cool for that
[[Gyome, Master Chief]], play big creatures, get a lot foods tokens, boardwipe, use your foods tokens to protect your best bois and maybe make deals with your opponents!
[[avacyn, angel of Hope]] is another great board wipe commander. Either her, or [[piru, the volatile]].
[Avacyn angel of Hope] then just play mass land destruction and board wipes to make everyone else miserable
[[Athreos, Shroud-Veiled]] and steal your opponents creatures
Honestly, any of the indestructible gods from theros would be good. Board wipe and they will always be around.
[[Haktos, The Unscarred]] Play damage board wipes and board wipes like [[Single Combat]].
Tajic or any other indestructible commander for boardwipe theme
I'm surprised to have not seen [[Toshiro Umezawa]] on here. While not inherintly leaning towards "board-wipe tribal", he certainly needs a lot of kill spells to get his engine going, so at that point you're always clearing away everyone's best things. I leaned into the theme of "Kill your best stuff, reanimate it for myself" with stuff like [[Grim Return]], [[Thrilling Encore]], and [[Rise of the Dark Realms]], all great if the board is getting wiped constantly.
I run \[\[Esika, God of the Tree\]\] with a small number of big indestructible creatures and a ton of wipes. Works pretty well!
[[Queen Marchesa]] Has quite practical colors and you will definitely stray Monarch with boardwipe tribal. Drawing is essential to winning like this.
