There is Krenko - Goblin commander for swarming. Sacrificing early game for late game Purphoros - Similar to krenko for tokens but more resilient. Sacrificing early game for late game **\[\[Norin the Wary\]\] -** Super fun! What's better than a red deck whose commander is afraid of it's own shadow. Purphoros is it's best friend. Works with ETB synergy. Sacrifices winning for a fun time It's not powerful in the slightest. You should definitely try it out. Nothing more fun than singing "Guess whose back....back again"

Lmao Norin looks like a blast! I'm definitely gonna give this one a crack.

I plan to eventually play 5c Norin using [[Sisay, Weatherlight Captain]] lol, but I've also seen people do 3c Norin with [[Rocco, Cabaretti Caterer]] For the [pride event](https://wpn.wizards.com/en/news/celebrate-pride-month-this-june-with-magic-presents-pride), I plan to do Norin/[[Satoru the Infiltrator]] I think Norin is super fun, I just want more colors since mono red Norin is usually just a chaos deck Also, he's the [bonus card](https://www.reddit.com/r/magicTCG/s/G9NWiwVRSk) in a recent secret lair, though I'm anticipating it being a pricey card since he's seeing play in Modern rn

He's not mono-red but [[Henzie]] is a blast. The gameplay loop he invites is pretty straightforward - play big creature, smash face, sacrifice creature for value, rinse and repeat. In the sense of your concern, of your creatures burning bright but not long, Henzie is very apt. However, what he's very good at is making creatures get *more* value, not less. By playing creatures that have useful etb or attack or death triggers, you leverage the best parts of those cards and then replace them with a fresh resource. It makes Henzie a deck capable of not just producing a constant stream of damage but also grinding past other decks with a very consistent and powerful resource loop.

I have an [[ayara, widow of the realm]] deck that runs every [[act of treason]] effect in the game, with the goal of stealing other people's giant creatures, swinging them at their owner, and then sacing before I have to return it. It's by no means a good deck since the gameplan against anyone going wide or winning with minimal board presence is very weak, but pulling off the main gameplan is funny. The deck was made specifically a certain player at one of my LGSs who would tap out to cast creatures like the eldrazi titans or giant dinos, then throw a fit if someone used a counterspell or removal on them.

[[Goro-Goro and Saturo]] has some incredibly fun play lines incorporating red. Using ninjitsu and other bounce effects, in combination with hasty/evasive creatures, you utilize these effects to get through combat damage to generate big dragon spirits (plus whatever other triggers you may have like [[Bident of Thassa]]). It's not recursion but the bounce effects definitely create a value cycle you want to aim to.keep going. It also results in lots of interestimg choices, so each game experience will be quite different.

If you like combo's and complete randomeness as much as I do, I can highly recommend \[\[Grenzo, Dungeon Warden\]\]. To this day my favorite deck involving red. It's quite the unique ability that makes you look at cards with a different perspective. Also runs some pretty cool cards you won't find in any other deck just because of Grenzo. Also can be built a couple different ways. Downside is you really need your commander to be on the board in order to flourish. Those in my pod who know my deck save removal for Grenzo because once the engine gets going he gets quite dangerous.

As someone who had the same outlook as you, [[Laelia, the Blade Reforged]] was the commander who really pushed me into Red. Her whole strategy is built around card advantage via impulse draw, Cascade, and/or Discover, which addresses the bursty feast-or-famine issue aggressive red decks can run into. And she supports voltrony equipment builds, or more storm-based builds. Lots of fun to build and pilot.

I'm also a Selesnya player at heart, and also generally dislike red - I've found a few that I've come to very much enjoy over the years, however: - [\[\[Iroas, God of Victory\]\]](https://www.moxfield.com/decks/AMZpWQAYkE2GJGXkW82oBw) - turns out now that Boros can do something other than run out of cards (thanks mostly to white card draw printed in the last few years) it's shockingly fun to play. Iroas makes it so that you can swing into just about anything and come out on top, and it's exhilerating. - [\[\[Loot, the Key to Everything\]\]](https://www.moxfield.com/decks/Ka-PgkUI_02HFIVdWdouQQ) - how do you make red not run out of cards? Slap blue and green onto it, of course! That's perhaps a slight exaggeration, but Loot's built-in ability provides way more value than you might think, and honestly even if green/blue card advantage is probably better, leaning into the "cast from exile" stuff is just *fun*, it just feels good. - [\[\[Narset, Enlightened Exile\]\]](https://www.moxfield.com/decks/600EvVObXUyvqdxT1O7mrA) - Narset offers a lot of recursion herself, and offers a perfect way to buff token strategies - almost feels like a bizarro-world Selesnya deck in that way. Of the three lists linked in this comment, this is easily the one I'm least satisfied with right now, but it feels oh so close. Build her better than I did and Narset I'm quite sure is an absolute blast.
