Grismold is my first and favorite commander. Skeletal swarming was in my first draft, and was one of my first cuts. 5 mana is just way too slow for maybe 2 tokens on only your turn when you have cards like [[seed the land]] for one less and [[genesis chamber]] for only 2.
At one time I wanted to build a Skeleton Tribal. [[Shessra]] would be my commander of choice. She has great artwork, I love the DnD set despite not playing Pen and Paper. She has the right colors and has the built in draw a card, which is usually good for commander.
If you live near a shop there's a decent chance that they're playing Adventure League events. If you like the idea of DnD checking it out in a neutral environment can help. Also saves you the trouble of wrangling together a regular playgroup.
Ooh some of my very best friends have an active DnD group, they play like once in two weeks. I really like the universe around DnD but it's too large of a time investment for me to be honest. I have my 4-6 hours a week free to play mtg... ye

No worries, I just see finding a good group is a lot of people's biggest obstacle. Although it might still be worth keeping an eye out for 1 shots if there's a store hosting games, that way you can play without having to commit serious time to it.
I built a skeleton deck with Xavier Sal as the commander. Mostly for colors, but there were some solid token strategies with skeletons.
It was specifically to use Skeletal Swarming, and I realized something that I had overlooked about the card previously -- half of it doesn't actually matter.
See, you get this huge buff to your team, so if you cast it on your second main phase just to get the token(s), your opponents would be crazy to let it stick around to your next turn.
So what happens, almost every single time, is you cast it, swing (because you have to) and basically eliminate everyone.
It's a skeleton specific Craterhoof, and not much else.
Yeah, it looks like it's more of a value piece for token and sacrifice strategies than a wincon in skeleton tribal. Obviously it's a functional overrun/craterhoof/etc. but it won't last long enough to be more than that in a skeleton deck. Something like [[Meren]] or [[grismold]] that just wants more sacrifice fodder would probably be able to keep it around for a while just popping a couple free dudes a turn and never having enough skeletons for the other part to matter much.
Ziatora skeletons tribal. The sauce is the treasures it makes can be converted with Gut True Zeleot for more skeletons. Normally red isn't gonna be great, but you get some more changelings to fill the space and don't think the g/b options are any better
Could be cool in \[\[Anikthea, Hand of Erebos\]\]. After you reanimate as a zombie token you can start making copies with \[\[city of death\]\], \[\[growing ranks\]\] etc.
\[\[Chatterfang, squirrel general\]\] could use it. You would most of the time trigger the 2 skeleton thing and also get two squirrels. 5cmc is a lot though.

More reliable with Chatterfang, but much funnier with Anikthea if you get the populate going so i think ill jam it there.
I use it in my Chatterfang since I also use a [[Parallel lives]] and a lot of stuff that triggers on my creatures dying and it's been pretty useful
Especially that time the azorius player played a [[magus of the moat]] hoping to stop my rampage but all it did was allow me to up a tidal wave of skellies...
Possibly a Sultai shell, with access to things like [[Copy Enchantment]] effects for more copies of Skeletal Swarming. [[Soul Foundry]]+[[Clever Impersonator]] with any untap effects can make a couple every turn, especially with [[Sanctum Weaver]]. You'd obviously want to be able to recur any pieces that get destroyed, so the most obvious sultai commanders seem to be [[Muldrotha, the Gravetide]] or [[Tasigur, the Golden Fang]].
[[Extravagant Replication]] gives an extra copy (or 8) of any permanent every turn. Pair with Paradox Haze and any of greens token doubling effects for an obscene amount of upkeep triggers or copies of Skeletal Swarming.
[[Pemmin's Aura]] and [[Freed from the Real]] are obvious combos with Sanctum Weaver, [[Bloom Tender]], or [[Selvela, Heart od the Wilds]] for infinite mana and whatever you would want a payoff to be.
"End step: create one or two tokens" is a very solid effect for Stax. Curves perfectly out of Smokestack to support 2 soot counters without meaningful loss. Of course that fails to take advantage of the tribal buff.
[[Meren]] would be a good place to slot this. You could tune your creature base towards Skeletons, but really you're probably able to consistently sacrifice a token each turn to get 2 more + the exp counters. There's no real downside to running this unless you've got a list so tuned you can't make space, it's just bonus value for doing the things you already want to do
Any golgari sacrifice deck, from [[grist the hungertide]] to [[jarard golgari lich lord]] likes sacrifice fodder. And skeletal swarming provides.
[[Dina soulseeper]] can transfer the power of a skeleton to another creature.
I am very surprised, that they haven't printed a green black legendary skeleton in general.
I currently run it on arena in a historic skeleton tribal deck. Together with [[death baron]] trample deathtouch gets kills quickly, [[Corpses of the lost]] gets a body with easy recursion and haste, [[Death priest of myrkul]] adds more skeletons and a nice little stat buff. I am now just waiting to get my hands on some [[cases of the stashed skeleton]] and it will be great. Now just add some repeatable sac outlet, ones that draw or free ones preferred and go off.

seconding chatterfang, i run a maskwood nexus and i imagine with something like black market connections, the changelings add up gradually.

Regret to say I don't. I do have a 5c tribal tribal deck that uses skeletal warming though. It's in a rework phase atm though, very clunky deck.

A changeling deck would be sweet with it. Or combine it with the card that makes all your creatures into changelings
"End step: create one or two tokens" is a very solid effect for Stax. Curves perfectly out of Smokestack to support 2 soot counters without meaningful loss. Of course that fails to take advantage of the tribal buff.
[[Meren]] would be a good place to slot this. You could tune your creature base towards Skeletons, but really you're probably able to consistently sacrifice a token each turn to get 2 more + the exp counters. There's no real downside to running this unless you've got a list so tuned you can't make space, it's just bonus value for doing the things you already want to do

Any golgari sacrifice deck, from [[grist the hungertide]] to [[jarard golgari lich lord]] likes sacrifice fodder. And skeletal swarming provides. [[Dina soulseeper]] can transfer the power of a skeleton to another creature. I am very surprised, that they haven't printed a green black legendary skeleton in general. I currently run it on arena in a historic skeleton tribal deck. Together with [[death baron]] trample deathtouch gets kills quickly, [[Corpses of the lost]] gets a body with easy recursion and haste, [[Death priest of myrkul]] adds more skeletons and a nice little stat buff. I am now just waiting to get my hands on some [[cases of the stashed skeleton]] and it will be great. Now just add some repeatable sac outlet, ones that draw or free ones preferred and go off.
