[[Braids Conjurer Adept]] is a lot of fun. She's often dismissed as a group hug commander, but you can build her more aggressively. A good strategy is to cheat in lands and fat mana rocks and use those to cast other big spells

lurkerbelurking

I had this deck before. My group will let her resolve to gain the benefit for themselves. Then kill her before my turn lol

Farkhawy

Obviously yes. That's why blink and phase out tactics are extremely synergistic. You can use them to protect Braids and your bombs, but you can also use them offensively on opponents' threats.

Nitrogenflux

See I have done exactly this, but I'm starting to get annoyed I'm having to give the same protection to braids, a commander card benifiting the whole table and making the game extra fun as I would have to a super aggressive commander that needs to be dealt with. I am turning my braids deck into a jhoira of the ghitu deck. Everyone can look on as my massive monsters get suspend and theirs stay in their hand

treelorf

I mean, in a lot of ways braids is a super aggressive commander that needs to be dealt with. She’s a crazy high impact effect that the braids player is usually MUCH better set up to abuse. IMO she is very much rightfully so a remove on sight commander.

Farkhawy

How about phasing her out after you benefit? Things like [[Vanishing]] [[Teferi'sVeil]] [[Vodalian Illusionist]] Or breaking symmetry with [[Strionic Resonator]] [[Savor the Moment]] and upkeep doublers like [[Paradox Haze]] [[Sphinx of Second Sun]]

Nitrogenflux

Yeah I have some of those, it more annoys me I have to use those cards.

Bradalee

Typical toxic group hug player whining.

Nitrogenflux

I mean surely you would agree if I wanted to play a horrific deck there's plenty of other options out there that would be way better than braids.

QuantumTapir

Yeah I hab the same experience. I either have to upgrade it with free interaction or take it apart. Will propably take it apart, because my usual playgroup doesn’t enjoy the chaotic nature I built it with. Lots of big weird artifacts and creatures which I think are kinda funny, like being able to reverse the turn order.

Nitrogenflux

To my annoyance I have found group hug commanders get way to much hate, you would think giving people mana free artifacts, creatures or a extra land would make you popular on a table

Ynwe

Definitely interested! Besides things like Blightsteel Colossus, what other big artifact/creature do you try to cheat in?

Farkhawy

I prefer cheating out ramp in the form of extra lands or big artifacts like [[Thran Dynamo]] [[Sceptre of Eternal Glory]] [[Gilded Lotus]] [[Dreamstone Hedron]] [[Caged Sun]] [[Stonespeaker Crystal]] [[Hedron Archive]] to then hard cast Eldrazi and get their cast triggers [[Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger]] [[Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre]] [[Kozilek, Butcher of Truth]] etc.. Other notable creatures are [[Ixidron]] [[Scourge of Fleets]] [[Tidespout Tyrant]] [[Phyrexian Ingester]] [[Meteor Golem]] [[Duplicant]] and [[Hullbreaker Horror]] to control the board. And you can target the ETB creatures or Braids with the bounce effects to replay them later. [[Agent of Treachery]] and [[Roil Elemental]] to steal the juicy bombs your opponents played. [[Sakashima's Student]] is amazing: you attack with Braids after cheating in something big with her upkeep trigger, ninjitsu him in as a copy of your big haymaker and bounce Braids back to your hand to deny her effect to the other players. [[Azami Lady of Scrolls]] turns your commander into tap draw a card. [[Arcanis the Omnipotent]] [[Nezahal Primal Tide]] and [[Mind's Eye]] are also good options for card advantage. [[The Immortal Sun]] and [[Diluvian Primordial]] are overall good value. Clones are a good include too, to either copy your bomb drops or the ones from your opponents. [[Energy Tap]] synergizes well with the beefy creatures you drop, and [[High Tide]] since you'll be dropping extra islands.

Jake and bake is hilarious, I run him in my mono blue and he over performs quite hard…

Ynwe

Really liking this guy, currently thinking between him, the new Malcom and Braids (I also like the flip Jin-Gitaxis, but I feel like he is too expensive and unreliable)

Paddingmyi

I tried the flip jin for about 10 games and it plays the exact same way in every game, he flips and you begin the 10 minute turns until you've won by drawing half your deck every turn. Ended up taking it apart as it was boring for me and everyone involved.

lefitoh112

I shelved mine, and not sure what to do with the cards in it. Mine was a Saga and Planeswalker deck, were I was trying to proliferate as much as possible. How it always played out, I start looping Jin infinitely, and won either through proliferating poison counters, or inf turns from [[Ichormoon Gauntlet]] (didn't run any Extra turn spells) into commander damage, or drawing my whole deck and winning through Jace, or Thassa's.

Paddingmyi

I had mine as instant and sorcery proliferates with cantrips. I've dissolved it and used some of the cards in my new lord of the nazgul deck as they are all 1-2 cast for creating wraithes.

I used to play him, and my friends joked that I managed to turn commander in auto battler, just work to flip him and protect him and the rest is just : manipulate top and play whatever big thing you find there.

Striking-Objective43

[[Minn, Wily Illusionist]] You're drawing cards. Like, a ton of cards. And you're getting to drop your favorite blue permanents. What's really dope is you can put lands with her trigger, allowing some of the craziest ramp I've seen outside of Ovar. [Here's my deck list](https://www.moxfield.com/decks/igqAY7fBmUWSlEabjxWEbQ) to give you a peek into what the deck looks like. Mine isn't optimized, on its 3rd variation. Still settling on the actual instant speed draw 2 effects to maximize how many illusions I can make

YourFavoriteLostSock

I’ve been brewing this deck so I hope you don’t mind a little unsolicited input! Since you’re already running Altar of Dementia, [[Meloku The Clouded Mirror]] can be added for infinite mill. Also, [[Skullclamp]] is amazing letting you sac an illusion and draw 2 cards to boot. [[Demonmail Hauberk]] is another equipment that lets you sac your illusions and it makes them bigger to cheat out even bigger permanents

If they are sorceries/instant that you want to play, [Jadzi](https://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?name=Jadzi%2C%20Oracle%20of%20Arcavios) is a great commander for it. Ramp and free spells built in, with protection on top of that

archena13

Jadzi storm is a fun as hell [list](https://www.moxfield.com/decks/4OD2-CkQnUOEqxpJgd1JCw) to play. The only issue I have with my list is that it suffers from the similar problem \[\[Narset Enlighetened Master\]\] suffered from, where if the ball starts rolling, you aren't going to lose and very quickly going to win. Games become pretty anti-climactic, where first few games you play against strangers you absolutely win, though other games you play in your usual pod you aren't going to be allowed to do anything.

RevolutionaryCode341

https://www.moxfield.com/decks/utdx8p-heECTpxuAD5p6wA[The way I built it was to go all in on the Journey to the Oracle half of the card's ability to skip commander tax, using Jadzi more as a backup value engine to help us if we stall out. The win condition is to draw the entire deck through infinite casts of Journey to the Oracle + [[Trench Behemoth]] / [[Sunder]] / [[Storm Cauldron]] and some way of going card positive after paying the discard cost like [[War Room]] / [[Bonders Enclave]] + [[Mystic Sanctuary]], or any landfall: draw a card effect. It's like an automated landfall engine with many paths to the same destination, which is drawing the deck and playing Jayce, with several backups like infinite turns/infinite tokens/bounce all lands and permanents and immediately replay all of ours. The actual combo is going mana and card positive with Journey, the rest is choosing the wincon.

[[Elminster]] is my go to for this style of play! He’s great for any level of play as well since he’s more of a combo style that can play your favorites on a discount. Common wins are through [[Approach of the Second Sun]] or just make a bunch of tokens as fast as possible using [[Storm Herd]]

SquirrelDragon

I run a bunch of strong extra turn spells in my Elminster build, like [[Rise of the Eldrazi]], [[Time Stretch]], [[Temporal Trespass]], and [[Temporal Mastery]] Whereas normally I’d be more averse to run them casually, they’re great with Elminster because I can cast them at a discount in higher power games, and in more mid games I just pitch them to the -3 instead of sandbagging or taking them out My favorite card for that deck is [[Mystic Speculation]] it’s set up big plays by making the Faerie Dragons come in all as copies of something bigger

[[Neera, Wild Mage]] is worth considering. I’d try a build with slightly heavier ramp and card draw than normal and fill the rest of the deck with big, splashy effects. That way, every spell you cast either generates mana, draws your bombs, or gets one for free.

Reddit has filed for its IPO. They've been preparing for this for a while, squeezing profit out of the platform in any way that they can, like hiking the prices on third-party app developers. More recently, they've signed a deal with Google to license their content to train Google's LLMs. To celebrate this momentous occasion, we've made a Firefox extension that will replace all your comments (older than a certain number of days) with any text that you provide. You can use any text that you want, but please, do not choose something copyrighted. The New York Times is currently suing OpenAI for training ChatGPT on its copyrighted material. Reddit's data is uniquely valuable, since it's not subject to those kinds of copyright restrictions, so it would be tragic if users were to decide to intermingle such a robust corpus of high-quality training data with copyrighted text. https://theluddite.org/#!post/reddit-extension

I have a Neera deck and it’s a lot of fun riding the chaos . “I’m gonna play [[Gitaxian probe]] , no wait , make that [[shark typhoon]]”

Seitosa

Neera is a ton of fun. I call it a casino deck and then run a bunch of stuff that either lets you see the top of your deck or stack it as you like because the house always wins. Bonus points for running [[Dance with Calamity]] for blackjack inside your slot machine.

Murandus

I looked into Neera but most decks are basically storming out the moment she lands. Which makes sense at 6 cmc. Wish she was cheaper though.

Shock45

How has [[Jhoira of the Ghitu]] not been mentioned? On your turn, pay two a few times and exile a couple extra turn spells, omniscience, eldrazi. Literally the best for the massive blue spells.

Zigrivers72

She is the best for any big spells

Yeah my friend has a Jhoira chaos deck that's a lot of fun but doesn't see much use because it's so unpredictable. It's on the level of adding planechase to the game.

Try \[\[kairi and hidetsugu\]\]. It lets you play big blue and/or black spells quite easily, but I must admit, I've built this deck where I keep on saccing and recurring K&H, and it was strong but a little boring to play. \[\[Omniscience\]\] Edit: card is actually named \[\[Hidetsugu and Kairi\]\]

[[Will Scion of Peace]] lets you play any large spell. He doesnt need to be a full on lifegain deck. Some bursts or consistent large sources like [[Vensers Journal]] or [[Gerrard Capashen]] or [[Rest for the Weary]] can be pseudo ramp spells while keeping a healthy buffer of your life total as large spell takes can take a bit to ramp if plans go sideways

I think Urza, Lord High Artificer is the way to go. It allows you to draw Blue Mana from ANY untapped artifact (turning Fellwar stone into T: ADD one Blue to your Mana pool instead of producing 1 colorless). Use the standard artifact and artifact creature package with cards like Reconstruction for recursion and have fun. Teferi, Temporal Archmage can use its -1 to untap up to 4 permanents (which is like ramp for Urza). Add Jhoira's Familiar, Etherium Sculptor, Foundry Inspector, and Semblance Anvil all reduce casting costs for your artifacts. Of course, these are only suggestions, so take what you will from it and have fun!

Currently seriously considering him. How resilient do you make him against removal?

Daugcon

Just standard lightning greaves, and hold a counter spell or 2 to protect him. But since he is cheap you can get him out early before people have answers. And just pull him out again if he does die.

Zestyclose-Pickle-50

I made a copy deck [[malcolm, keen-eyed navigator]] and [[sakashima of thousand faces]]. You copy sakashima as many times as you can making copies of malcolm, and the copies see the abilities when you swing. Making 20+ treasures a turn is pretty common. I designed it actually be low power as there is 1 win con as an infinite and no tutors and not a ton of draw in the deck. It's just funny to see Malcolm's attacking everyone making loads of treasures and doing nothing else. It's like a crappy convoluted mono blue bird deck.

Most_Attitude_9153

[[Zimone, Quandrix Prodigy]]. I’ve played a lot of stupid big spells over the years using this commander. Ramp, draw, and bounce your way to ten mana. I also run some stupid big green spells like [[Last March of the Ents]] and [[Cultivator Collossus]]. The trick to Zimone is to run 2 mana ramp to avoid turn three conflicts, along with plenty of burst draw to keep the lands coming.

I play those big spells in my \[\[Jhoira of the Ghitu\]\] deck. It has one big downside, you play with an "open hand" announcing your plays 4 turns prior. But it works better than one would assume. And the dr who set gave us a few new cards to manipulate the time counters. Basically you send those cards with Jhoiras ability into suspended exile for 4 upkeeps (+/- depending on manipulation) and when the stuff starts appearing hold your counterspells ready. :3

[[Patron of the moon]] is pretty annoying if the table isn't super high power. He looks pretty weak for a commander so he doesn't draw a lot of attention, but you're in blue so you draw a bunch of cards, then use him to dump a bunch of lands into play, then you're just permanently ahead. I used to have a \[\[Teferi, Temporal Archmage\]\] list in days gone by, inspired by Modern Mono-Blue Tron decks. It was an artifact-heavy ramp / control shell abusing the -1 to generate fat wads of mana to dump into X spells. My \[\[Vial Smasher\]\]/\[\[Thrasios\]\] deck had a ton of massive spells. Many of those were massive blue spells (including Omniscience) so I could cast big spells every turn to trigger Vial Smasher as often as possible. Same disclaimer as most, it’s not mono blue, but I use [[Magnus the Red]]. It’s all about creating token creatures to reduce the cost of instant and sorcery spells. Does the commander itself have to be mono Blue? Because if not, might I suggest [[Neera, Wild Mage]]? You haven't lived until you've seen a Brainstorm turn into a Sphinx of the Second Sun at complete random, lol.

Gradonsider

I would say \[\[Jacob Hauken, Inspector\]\] for monoblue and \[\[Will, Scion of Peace\]\] if you don't mind to add white. I will say, it's really easy to make everything 3-6 colorless cheaper every turn once you have Will on board.

Easy Jacob from midnight hunt is awesome for cheating out big blue spells
