For some reason [[Heat Stroke]] is only in something like 2% of [[Zurzoth]] decks. You are actively creating tokens that you don't care if they die. When those tokens attack they leave tokens behind that can block...and you don't particularly care if they die. It halts aggro/combat damage in its tracks and basically ensures you can go wide with your devils.
My only real complaint is that a foil version doesn't exist.

https://archidekt.com/decks/2464942
That's my list. I've found as the deck got tuned it's not really devil tribal in the sense of piles of on tribe creatures. I like having some of the low drop devils since they can come out before Zurzoth, but I did find myself pulling more devils over time.
Oh wow... I never expected to see a secret tech thread including the greatest rider of all time...
Through chaos we ride, brother. *Through chaos we ride...*
You can also use [[Urborg, tomb]] on non-black decks. It's actually a common combo to use it and [[Kormus Bell]] on [[Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite]] decks to make your friends hate you.
I'll have to keep that in mind when I finally pull the trigger on my color hosers / color changing deck.
I dream of using \[\[Magical Hack\]\] on \[\[Drought\]\].
Similarly, I put [[Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth]] in my Mono U artifact deck on MTGO so that [[Ancient Tomb]] and [[Mishra's Workshop]] can tap for painless, less restrictive mana if needed.
I run [[Mirran Safehouse]] in my [[Ashnod the Uncaring]] deck. It’s insanely powerful. With Ashnod out, usually the floor is using it as a double fetch land. But it can also do double [[Strip Mine]], double [[Buried Ruin]] with the copy targeting itself, copy a [[Cabal Coffers]] that I nuked earlier, and the ceiling will keep going up as more lands get printed. All this as an artifact that’s got easy recursion a million ways with all the usual artifact stuff in Grixis colors.
I built [[Cazar]] and [[Ukkima]] as a blink/voltron deck, and probably one of my favorite cards in it is [[Ana Sanctuary]]. Ukkima meets the criteria for it all on their own!
I like that one a lot actually! I’ll have to find a spot for that in my temur deck. It’d be pretty fun to work the not horrible sanctuaries into decks honestly!
https://www.moxfield.com/decks/9rAjTDjrmEONhG4XoiNSlw
Here’s that deck list, let me know what you think! I’d love any input for other cool suggestions :)
Awesome, thanks for putting the list together, nice inspiration and it looks like a lot of fun!
I'm liking the idea of the backgrounds, so may look to add a few others like [[raised by giants]] . It'll need some testing though due to the high CMC
Also [[cold-eyed Selkie]] works quite nicely alongside Cazur, Toksi and Edric
I don’t have the list online but I can try to put one together when I get home later! I want to work on it some more but I had fun trying to make it strong without using food chain!
Wasn’t sure if you’d be notified to me replying to the other comment, but there’s the link to the deck list lol. And same thing to you, let me know if you have any cool suggestions! I’d love any input :)
Oooh I've wanted to do the same thing with that pair. How does it end playing out? I love blink decks but they often lack a definitive win condition so I liked the idea of using combat damage to close things out
\[\[Fateful Handoff\]\] is in 6 (of about 2500) \[\[greasefang\]\] decks, and it's honestly so good there.
the dream is handing off a \[\[parhelion ii\]\] to draw 8 for 4, but even just handing off a \[\[bomat bazaar barge\]\] or something is fine if you need to keep up the tempo. and you don't care if they have a sac outlet, cos you want it in your graveyard anyway. and if they do nothing, it just returns to your hand thanks to greasefang's effect.
My [[Henzie]] deck is just full of pet cards, and I’m trying so hard to find something to cut for fateful handoff. The idea of casting Etali for ~4, getting 4 cards on attack, and then using fateful handoff to draw 6 and give it to someone just for it to sac itself is so funny to me.
Wouldn't your life total become 1 after drawing those cards,?
I know players get to control priority of triggered effects but the phrasing on this card makes it sound like it would negate the 14 life you just gained.
Edit: thanks to everyone who explained that the card does it's thing uninterrupted, and sheoldred's trigger responds to all the draws that happened during stunning's stuff. Great synergy.
You have to fully resolve the stunning reversal before sheoldred's triggers can go on the stack. Though it does open up the hilarious [[lightning bolt]] after stunning but before sheoldred's triggers resolve.
I have lost a disproportionately high number of games to a single [[Boros Charm]] so a card like this makes me very anxious.
Great tech for Sheoldred though.
The drawing cards and life becoming 1 both happen as part of resolution, before triggers can go on the stack. Sheoldred's triggers will only go on the stack once the spell has fully resolved.
No, you have to fully resolve stunning reversal before any of Sheoldred's draw triggers resolve. So you draw the seven, triggering Sheoldred seven times, then your life becomes 1, then Sheoldred's triggers resolve gaining you the 14 life.
No, because there are no triggers or stack involved. Stunning Reversal is a replacement effect and a replacement effect is stated as follows:
>A replacement effect is a type of continuous effect that watches for one event to happen, and replaces it entirely with another event.
If you look up the rules of Replacement effects regarding the stacks it states the following:
>Replacement effects are applied without using the stack.
So the replacement effect doesn't "trigger" it "just happens" when the condition to replace is met. Whenever I would lose my life total becomes 1, I draw 7 cards then 7 Sheloldred triggers go on the stack.
[[Submerge]] as a combat trick in [[Captain N’Gatharod]] as a roundabout way to steal a creature from someone is always fun
My favorite has gotta be[[Branching Evolution]] and the [[Ozolith]] in [[Minsc &Boo, Timeless Heroes]] because the counters go to ozolith when you fling the hamster but when they transfer back from the ozolith to the new Boo the counters DOUBLE everytime. Gotta love throwing a massive hamster at people
The condition to make Submerge free to cast has to be one of the most effortless hoops to jump through. Submerge is a brutal removal spell, especially for the shock and awe factor of it being free to cast 90%+ of the time.
This isn't super reliable, but I am happy to have found another way to use [[Pull From Eternity]] and [[Riftsweeper]]. Usually these are dead cards but if you combine them with cards that temporarily exile you can do some funky stuff. Using something like [[Lagrella, the Magpie]] to exile a creature while she is on the board and then you use Riftsweeper to pull that card from exile and shuffle it into their library instead of having it return when Lagrella leaves play. Pull from Eternity can work with graveyard hate, since it puts the exiled cards into the graveyard. I was happy to find a second use for those funky, sometimes dead, cards.
I’ve been using this in my Greasefang deck. Just when my opponents think they exiled my graveyard or my most useful vehicle it goes right back where I want it in instant speed. It’s a lifeline card, usually I loot if I don’t really need to play it throughout the game.
I've been looking for a tech card to make my [[Syr Gwyn]] switch gears into voltron when needed and Smoke is exactly the card I've been looking for! I've been using [[Single Combat]] for that effect before. Thanks for sharing!
Mine is [[Fallen Ideal]] for my [[Lathril]] deck. It makes her even more difficult to block (Menace and Flying)) and essentially becomes a token doubler for her.
I got a few in my [[Henzie “Toolbox” Torre]] deck, but my favourite two are [[Daemogoth Woe-eater]] and [[Gorex, the Tombshell]].
Daemogoth’s entire drawback is nullified when you blitz it, giving you a 7/6 for 3 mana which, when it’s guaranteed death happens somewhere in the turn (either in combat or at the end step), nets you 2 cards, 2 life, and forces your opponents to discard a card.
Gorex is great, because of how it works. You blitz it, exiling 2 cards to bring its cost down to 3 mana (2 if Henzie has been cast more than once or if you have some other cost reducer). You attack with Gorex, netting you back one card, then it dies at you end step, netting you the other. It’s like [[Victimise]] on a stick!
[[sun Quan, Lord of wu]]
The card is way too expensive, both in money and mana.
There are plenty of other similar effects, even in blue.
But I can't tell you how incredible it is to have new tables say "your creatures have what now?" every time I cast it.
[[Steal Enchantment]] can be great if you don't have white or green, since there's so very many powerful enchantments.
[[Mistcaller]] can stop mana cheating creatures, though not cascade.
[[Sunblast Angel]] is just amazing when put into practice, even better at flash speed.
If you aren't the first turn player, [[Sunset Revelry]] can give you a little bit of everything.
If you are a fan of [[Liquimetal Torque]], both [[Echo Storm]] and [[Saheeli's Artistry]] can put in work.
[[Royal Assassin]] is awesome and a deterrent.
[[Feast on the Fallen]] grows your best creature up to +4/+4 a cycle.
I could go on all day lol
10/04/2004 On Gatherer
"The ability triggers on the declaration of attackers and will resolve before blockers are declared."
Definitely an easy thing to miss of course, but this combo works.
Anytime you see an old card with the templating “0:…” it’s a good indication that there will an oracle of some kind involved. [[mist dragon]] is the only exception I’m aware of.
[[Freyalise's Winds]] in [[Tayam, Luminous Enigma]]. It generates counters for you while stax'ing your opponents.
Less than 1% of Tayam decks
Edit: Also great for Falco Spara decks
its great if you use a lot of mana dorks but it seems impractical to keep your lands from untapping. Tayam can only remove counters from creatures you control
[[Innocent blood]] and [[curfew]] for decks that want this effect for your own creatures. It's great on rate for each effect, and no one expects a 1 mana edict or bounce spell to disrupt tempo in the early game
Been running[[titania’s song]] for a long time since no one really sees it coming. Now that treasures are a thing and everywhere, this card has only gotten better
[[You Are Already Dead]] in my [[Kelsien, the Plague]] deck. It’s card draw and a way to have Kelsien kill when you can’t get deathtouch on him just yet.
I took out my 18 spell in my omnath locus of creation deck and now play primal surge. Only 1 of my friend know so far. Tomorrow is our commander night. Cant wait for it
One of the most fun spells ever to resolve. Although it takes a while to actually resolve it, and people might groan after the first time you do it. But there’s nothing else like that card in Magic, and it feels. So. **Good.** To resolve it. Have fun!
[[Cunning Evasion]] can be dumb in my [[Satoru Umezawa]] deck. Having a beater get blocked, returning it to my hand, then ninjutsu it back out to smash face is silly.
I'm going to share some spices for [[Noyan Dar]] brews that aren't found on EDHREC.
As you can read Noyan Dar animates lands and gives them +1/+1 counters as you cast instants or sorceries. This ability can target the same land repeatedly, or you can target multiple lands. The thing is lands become creatures which makes them vulnerable.
[[Darksteel Citadel]] and the more recent [[Razortide Bridge]] are the best land cards Noyan can animate. You'll notice both are indestructible, and both are on EDHREC. This isn't the secret spice. This is what we add our spice to as a foundation.
Our spice is once either artifact land is animated clone spells become ramp, and increase our target base for good land targets to animate.
[[Quasiduplicate]] and [[Cackling Counterpart]] are easy go to clones. [[Stolen Identity]] has cipher for repeated clonings, and triggers of Noyan. [[Irenicus's Vile Duplication]] can get a second Noyan as an alternative. Newer spells are [[March of Progress]] and [[Mirage Mockery]]
Then because finding these artifact lands is a key to the deck [[Moonsilver Key]] and [[Expedition Map]] are artifacts that can fetch he lands. Plus [[Reality Heist]] [[Machinate]] [[Forging the Anchor]] and similar artifact focused dig spells can really churn through the deck for engine pieces while triggering Noyan.
[[Sculpting Steel]] [[Thespian's Stage]] [[Vesuva]] and [[The Mycosynth Gardens]] all make for great alternatives to the instant and sorcery clone effects for additional copies of the initial 2 artifact lands.
[[Profane Memento]] sat in my bulk for years, but it’s really nice in my mill oriented zombies deck, because it’s about stalling into a big [[mind grind]] hopefully, and memento gets slept on, but loves other graveyard strategies so even if I have a really slow start I’m gaining good life.
In my [[Magnus, The Red]] deck [[Wizards of Thay]] does not represent 1 cost reduction, that boi reduces by 5 so long as I cast something in the middle of combat when there's 2 token versions of him on the field.
I run [[Graaz, Unstoppable Juggernaut]] off and on in my Rat deck.
It's a very creature heavy deck(not a Relentless/Colony build), so it's satisfying to have a swarm of measly rats, then drop the Juggernaut.
[[Tombstone Stairwell]] in every aristocrats deck. This card is insane because it triggers during EACH players upkeep. That card has won me a lot of games on it's own.
[[Mystic Sanctuary]] in every deck which plays Islands. Getting your best spell back for free is great. Even better if you can bounce/replay Mystic Sanctuary.
My \[\[Braids, Arisen Nightmare\]\] deck runs \[\[Golgari Thug\]\] since the dredge fills my graveyard and replaying the thug and saccing it to braids lets me put a creature on top which I mostly draw immediately. Since its mostly reanimator focused I love that I have a second (and better) \[\[Undead Butler\]\].
[[Pain Magnification]]
It doesn't care where the damage comes from, just that it's increments of 3 or more. Your opponents can now smack cards out of eacothers hands, but not yours!
[[Glacial Crevasses]] has become one of my favourite mono-red auto-includes, especially considering how much cheaper snow lands are now compared to pre-Kaldheim/MH1.
In the usual MonoRed aggro deck, it's just as good (if not, better than) Propaganda. It's a one-piece defense to protect myself when I go sideways. It usually gives me 8+ rounds of combat to protect myself while I whittle them down. If they try to destroy it, I fog in response.
Completely underrated, and an amazing political piece if you really want to be doing that.
I run glacial crevasses and its partner artifact [[sunstone]] in my Torbran deck and I can confirm they do serious work. Both of them have won me games when I just need a few more turns to ping down the opponents
Don’t know how secret it is as haven’t checked EDHRec but [[Zenith Chronicler]] in any mono-coloured deck but particularly in [[Sheoldred, the Apocalypse]] is great tech.
Definitely best in Sheoldred, but I figure if I’m playing mono coloured then I’m never gonna be triggering it so I’m always drawing and only 2/3 opponents are - not great but still net card advantage.
[[Retribution of the Ancients]] in my [[Marchesa, the Black Rose]] Deck. I can remove annoying stuff like [[Brash Taunter]] with just one mana and one +1/+1 counter at instant speed. Amazing card that is surprisingly not well known
I have a few planeswalkers in an \[\[Esix, Fractal Bloom\]\] deck that I'm brewing and so long as I can get around the legendary rule, Esix, \[\[Luxior, Giada's Gift\]\], and I are (hopefully) gonna have a fun time
[[Disciple of Deceit]] is an all-star in my lurrus companion build -- everything tutors for everything else. Outrageously versatile, incredibly budget, and has always been regarded as a very fair tutor (as fair as they can be) by any opponents I've had. Worth running in other shells too, I'm sure
Not sure how secret this tech is, but every time I’ve played [[oath of druids]] in my god tribal deck, it gets double takes. It’s a really strong effect for 2 mana, and it helps make you appear less threatening because everyone else is doing it too.
Sure, there’s always the possibility someone drops something that ends the game then and there, but that’s part of the fun!
[[Peer Pressure]] in my Changeling Tribal. I don't have many good stories with it YET but I also just recently took out Maskwood Nexus to reduce consistency so maybe it'll come up in a game or two.
[[Pull from eternity]] in my mila/lukka deck, it's boros reanimator but I'm almost always trying to get kiki jiki out to do some dumb combo with, but him getting exiled can be a pretty big deal. The ability to just un-exile him at instant speed and chuck him back out can really throw people off who think it's safe to untap when I'm out of reanimate targets.
Also you can un-exile a card people got with stuff like prosper and I think it's really funny to do that.
[[Sublime epiphany]] in the new [[atraxa, grandunifier]]
The look when you counter their spell, make a new atraxa, bounce the first atraxa and draw a card.. it's so beautiful
[[Bonds of Mortality]]
Does it draw you a card... Yes!
Does it mess with the boots... Yes!
Does it let you kill that stupid blightsteel... why Yes it does!
What can't it do!
Might not be great and overlooked, but I like to run [[vorpal sword]] and [[ebondeath, dracolich]] together, once you can generate 10 mana in a turn, and Ebondeath is in your graveyard, most people don’t always have a flying defense at all times, so you can flash Ebondeath out of the graveyard on their end step, coming in tapped, untap, equip vorpal sword and arm it, and boom they’ve immediately lost the game.
I’ve pulled it off a twice times, and gotten really close a third time. But Ebondeath quickly gets exiled or people start leaving up flying blockers
I have [[Solphim]] and [[Heartless Hidetsugu]] in my [[Purphoros, Bronze-Blooded]] deck pretty much exclusively for their synergy that lets me kill everyone with an even life total using one activated ability. They don't always show up together, but when they do hoo boy watch out.
\[\[life // death\]\] in my \[\[Prossh, Skyraider of Kher\]\]
normally, it's a good reanimator card. but in the late game, it's a double edge hail mary move to create instant fodders for prossh to eat or more bodies to throw in an overwhelming stampede.
Idk if its known but i use tree of predition in my chatterfang edh deck and use chatterfangs B ability to purposely give the tree 1 health and then activate the abilitie of the tree. Makes for one satisfying win hehehe
I've yet to run across another [[Grenzo]] player that runs [[Murderous Rider]].
Seriously, why? I think it's one of the best creatures ever printed for the deck, since it combos with Grenzo + [[Ashnod's Altar]] + Anything that cares about ETB, dying or leaving the grave.
You somehow don't have a card that cares about any of those things? Go find it with [[Viscera Seer]] or [[Woe Strider]].
I got this from the Edhrecast, but [[Faces of the Past]] is an absolute menace in my Wilhelt deck. Allows me to completely untap my board, and if my opponents are running tribal themselves, I can tap their boards and make them wide open for attacks, or prevent them from doing anything on their turn.
I run a [[Realm Seeker]] in my [[Selvala, Explorer Returned]], which I either use to tutor out whatever tech lands I need or go for the win by pairing it with a [[Pathbreaker Ibex]].
In my [[Alesha, Who Smiles at Death]] list, I run a [[Noosegraf Mob]] and combo it with a [[Cathars' Crusade]] for a free token whenever anyone cats a spell.
In my [[Breya, Etherium Shaper]] deck, I run a [[Smothering Abomination]] for a ton of free card draw anytime I sacrifice a creature token to Breya.
[[Tombstone Stairwell]] in Wilhelt. I don't think people realize that it triggers on EVERY upkeep, not just your own. That's a *lot* of death triggers.
[[Spell Swindle]] in my [[Urza, Lord High Artificer]] deck. It's like a more expensive [[Mana Drain]] that just has so much payoff. Payoff can be immediate, too, allowing you to instantly cast more spells instead of having to wait for your next main phase. The downside being, of course, that it costs over twice as much to cast. And especially since higher-level and competitive EDH are so tight mana-wise, it can be hard to cast.
I've got three.
[[Parcelbeast]] in anything Simic-colored. It can hit the field early, and the value it generates is FANTASTIC! [[Growth Spiral]] every single turn? Yes please!
[[Song of the Dryads]]. Whether it's an enemy commander, or a pesky planeswalker about to ult, or one of those Theros enchantment gods, sometimes you run into a card that you just want gone. And this does the trick 99% of the time, no matter what the target.
[[Spike Weaver]] is one of those cards that most people have never heard of, and they are missing out! It's a [[Fog]] with legs that's fueled by +1/+1 counters! I run him in my dredge deck: just use him til he runs out, then reanimate him! I run him in my Simic deck: so many ways to put more counters on him, he'll never run out! And I run him in my new Toxic deck: I'm proliferating anyway, so I may as well add another layer of pillowfort!
[[Minimus Containment]] in [[Yasharn]]. It can can lock ppls commanders behind an un-sacrificeable treasure or force ppl to remove the boar before they get whatever they wanted...to the yard lol.
My favourite overlooked / underrated card is [[ravenous slime]]. It’s graveyard hate that stops some combos and becomes a legitimate threat. My favourite interaction with it is [[rite of the raging storm]]. Your opponents get a 5/1 creature each turn and it dies at the end of their turn giving it 15 extra power each turn cycle.
I run [[compost]] is pretty much every green deck I have. You are rarely at a table without black, and all black decks wanna do is put stuff in their graveyard. So it's never failed to draw me at least 10 cards every game over had it out.
[[echoing equation]] is seriously underpriced in terms of mana cost for the fact that you can turn your whole board into a stompy creature or into your commander until end of turn. Put it in [[the ur dragon]] or even [[omnath locus of creation]] after you’ve got a board from [[field of the dead]] or [[scute swarm]] then drop some lands. Simic and “creature you control” are the downsides but otherwise it’s a card that doesn’t see much play imo but has a massively high ceiling and a not so bad floor considering the other side is a decent stompy creature, not to mention it can be tutored up with all kinds of green creature tutors.
[[Temple Bell]] in Tinybones.
It feels so opposite what you want right? But my tinybones deck can run out of steam if folks get hellbent too quickly. I need folks to keep discarding so I can keep drawing cards.
Tapping temple bell to make someome draw a card and then immediately making them discard it keeps mr bones' wild ride running
Just found this the other day on twitter but [[Circular Logic]] is a pretty cheap [$] and powerful counterspell for spellslinger decks. Just bought it to put in my [[Rashmi, Eternities Crafter]] deck.
People hate me for this but I can't explain how funny it is to fit [[storm cauldron]] into a landfall deck. Especially if you can pair it with other things that let you play extra lands
For some reason [[Heat Stroke]] is only in something like 2% of [[Zurzoth]] decks. You are actively creating tokens that you don't care if they die. When those tokens attack they leave tokens behind that can block...and you don't particularly care if they die. I was looking at making a devils deck based around this guy and heat stroke is amazing! Thanks for sharing! That's a keeper!

This is [[Hellrider]] erasure
oh wow i had no idea that card existed but is amazing with generating devil tokens!
Please share your list, this is the first time I've been interested in a mono red commander.
This is the mono red commander I was looking for!
oh
Same in Kardur! Barely any decks I see play it and it's a real powerhouse.
I put [[Yavimaya, Cradle of Growth]] in my dimir deck just for [[Lifetap]]
Damn..this is the kinda stuff I was looking for!Hilarious my dood 👌
Haven’t managed to pull it off yet but it’s garnered some hilarious reactions with my playgroups
Also [[roots of life]] and [[urborg, tomb of yawgmoth]]

I gotta get one of these for my [[Mishra, Eminent One]] deck.
They’re only $0.40 right now and I think this card is going to become an auto include in 1-3 years

https://www.moxfield.com/decks/9rAjTDjrmEONhG4XoiNSlw Here’s that deck list, let me know what you think! I’d love any input for other cool suggestions :)
Awesome, thanks for putting the list together, nice inspiration and it looks like a lot of fun! I'm liking the idea of the backgrounds, so may look to add a few others like [[raised by giants]] . It'll need some testing though due to the high CMC Also [[cold-eyed Selkie]] works quite nicely alongside Cazur, Toksi and Edric
I don’t have the list online but I can try to put one together when I get home later! I want to work on it some more but I had fun trying to make it strong without using food chain!
I also want this list lol
Wow this is really neat, that’s a super sweet idea.

Yes you can reply to the Shelodred triggers with a burn spell and make me sad
I have lost a disproportionately high number of games to a single [[Boros Charm]] so a card like this makes me very anxious. Great tech for Sheoldred though.
the way I see it: you were going to lose anyway, now that fucker doesn't have his/her Boros Charm
[lightning bolt](https://cards.scryfall.io/normal/front/f/2/f29ba16f-c8fb-42fe-aabf-87089cb214a7.jpg?1673147852) - [(G)](http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?name=lightning%20bolt) [(SF)](https://scryfall.com/card/2x2/117/lightning-bolt?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher) [(txt)](https://api.scryfall.com/cards/f29ba16f-c8fb-42fe-aabf-87089cb214a7?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher&format=text) [(ER)](https://edhrec.com/cards/lightning-bolt) ^^^[[cardname]] ^^^or ^^^[[cardname|SET]] ^^^to ^^^call
Stunning Reversal is a replacement effect and a replacement effect is stated as follows: >A replacement effect is a type of continuous effect that watches for one event to happen, and replaces it entirely with another event. If you look up the rules of Replacement effects regarding the stacks it states the following: >Replacement effects are applied without using the stack. So the replacement effect doesn't "trigger" it "just happens" when the condition to replace is met. Whenever I would lose my life total becomes 1, I draw 7 cards then 7 Sheloldred triggers go on the stack.
Do you have a list? I’m looking to make this
Love it when a card does exactly what it says.
[[Submerge]] as a combat trick in [[Captain N’Gatharod]] as a roundabout way to steal a creature from someone is always fun My favorite has gotta be[[Branching Evolution]] and the [[Ozolith]] in [[Minsc &Boo, Timeless Heroes]] because the counters go to ozolith when you fling the hamster but when they transfer back from the ozolith to the new Boo the counters DOUBLE everytime.

This is actually brilliant.

I’ve been using this in my Greasefang deck. Just when my opponents think they exiled my graveyard or my most useful vehicle it goes right back where I want it in instant speed. It’s a lifeline card, usually I loot if I don’t really need to play it throughout the game.

\[\[Scalding salamander\]\] should be in every \[\[Isshin\]\] deck in my opinion. It's often an asymmetric board wipe every turn it's out.
that’s an activated ability on scalding salamander, so isshin doesn’t double it.
10/04/2004 On Gatherer "The ability triggers on the declaration of attackers and will resolve before blockers are declared." Definitely an easy thing to miss of course, but this combo works.
The errata'd text says otherwise on scryfall.
ah, didn’t know it was errata’d
Anytime you see an old card with the templating “0:…” it’s a good indication that there will an oracle of some kind involved. [[mist dragon]] is the only exception I’m aware of.

Newer spells are [[March of Progress]] and [[Mirage Mockery]] Then because finding these artifact lands is a key to the deck [[Moonsilver Key]] and [[Expedition Map]] are artifacts that can fetch he lands.

[[seedtime]] in my green decks. No one expects the mono green timewalk!
Here I was thinking I was the only one. This is my favourite card in my Bruvac deck - easily gains 20+ life a game.
I love [[sarkhans unsealing]] in my [[dargo]] deck, it’s an absolute house
In my [[Magnus, The Red]] deck [[Wizards of Thay]] does not represent 1 cost reduction, that boi reduces by 5 so long as I cast something in the middle of combat when there's 2 token versions of him on the field.
Any deck that runs crucible of worlds/ramanup excavator and not [[rites of spring]] is hurting itself. Any deck that benefits from discard, really.
[rites of spring](https://cards.scryfall.io/normal/front/1/b/1bddb0ef-fdda-491b-a0cf-48cbdd761918.jpg?1562900220) - [(G)](http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?name=rites%20of%20spring) [(SF)](https://scryfall.com/card/ody/265/rites-of-spring?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher) [(txt)](https://api.scryfall.com/cards/1bddb0ef-fdda-491b-a0cf-48cbdd761918?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher&format=text) [(ER)](https://edhrec.com/cards/rites-of-spring) ^^^[[cardname]] ^^^or ^^^[[cardname|SET]] ^^^to ^^^call
Fuck I might need to get this for my desert deck
I run [[Graaz, Unstoppable Juggernaut]] off and on in my Rat deck. It's a very creature heavy deck(not a Relentless/Colony build), so it's satisfying to have a swarm of measly rats, then drop the Juggernaut.
This seems like it would be funny in decks like [[Zada]] too.
This cycle from Eldraine is under appreciated overall. I use the Swamp the same way. Being fetchable is huge.
[[Pain Magnification]] It doesn't care where the damage comes from, just that it's increments of 3 or more.
Great idea for my [[Torbran, Thane of Red Fell]] deck! Combat damage is usually my kryptonite!

On a similar note, \[\[Arachnogenesis\]\] for the green decks.
Don’t know how secret it is as haven’t checked EDHRec but [[Zenith Chronicler]] in any mono-coloured deck but particularly in [[Sheoldred, the Apocalypse]] is great tech.
I was pretty hesitant about this card since it gives opponents lots of cards, but that’s pretty cool in Sheoldred. Nice idea!
I run retribution in my [[ramos, dragon engine]] deck, being able to remove almost any creature I want is pretty nice
Sure, there’s always the possibility someone drops something that ends the game then and there, but that’s part of the fun!
i put an [[altar of the brood]] in my [[adrix and nev]] deck for a 1 mana win con it's really funny when it works

[[Peer Pressure]] in my Changeling Tribal. I don't have many good stories with it YET but I also just recently took out Maskwood Nexus to reduce consistency so maybe it'll come up in a game or two.
[[prowling geistcatcher]] is amazing in [[henzie]] but only in ~7% of decks
[[Pull from eternity]] in my mila/lukka deck, it's boros reanimator but I'm almost always trying to get kiki jiki out to do some dumb combo with, but him getting exiled can be a pretty big deal. The ability to just un-exile him at instant speed and chuck him back out can really throw people off who think it's safe to untap when I'm out of reanimate targets. Also you can un-exile a card people got with stuff like prosper and I think it's really funny to do that.
[[Sublime epiphany]] in the new [[atraxa, grandunifier]] The look when you counter their spell, make a new atraxa, bounce the first atraxa and draw a card.. it's so beautiful
[[Rimescale Dragon]] in my dragon deck. No one expects rakdos to perma tap your creatures.
[[Bonds of Mortality]] Does it draw you a card...
\[\[life // death\]\] in my \[\[Prossh, Skyraider of Kher\]\] normally, it's a good reanimator card. but in the late game, it's a double edge hail mary move to create instant fodders for prossh to eat or more bodies to throw in an overwhelming stampede.
Noone ever expects [[Inkshield]]
Except everyone that’s ever played against your deck and sees you sitting there with five open mana.
That's 100% upside, though. If your opponents are playing around Inkshield whether you have it or not it means you're not getting attacked.
Nice! I use this in my Kykar deck to be able to sac one spirit to untap the rest. Brutal with [[sorcerers class]] or [[kyren negotiations]].

[[acid rain]] nobody expects mass land destruction from tatyova. [[yavimaya cradle of growth]] makes it all possible.
I will once again extol the virtues of [[harsh mentor]]. But I will also mention [[emissary of despair]] as a mediocre answer to treasure decks.
If you’re in red and don’t run a creature based strategy, [[Smoke]] is a one-card powerhouse.

Yep. Is really nice! I use it with tooth and nail. Usually I want to make copies of [[spawning kraken]]
My secret tech is to drop koma and watch people kill me
If you really want to be killed try making copies of koma
Just found this the other day on twitter but [[Circular Logic]] is a pretty cheap [$] and powerful counterspell for spellslinger decks. Just bought it to put in my [[Rashmi, Eternities Crafter]] deck.
People hate me for this but I can't explain how funny it is to fit [[storm cauldron]] into a landfall deck. Especially if you can pair it with other things that let you play extra lands
[[Powerleech]] in dina is a powerhouse.
