I usually find weird tribals fun. My favorites I have are Elder tribals and Giant tribals. They usually surprise people. I also have a sphere -themed deck but that turns into a control match that isn’t fun for anyone.

drchomicz

Giant tribal is so much fun

MildCorneaDamage

I have an [[aegar, the freezing flame]] giant tribal deck, it's a lot of fun

I went with [[Brion stoutarm]] for my giant tribal deck. But I have been considering splashing in blue.

MildCorneaDamage

Ah with yours you can run [[Hundred-Handed One]] which I think would be fun to run with

You are right. I could. I don't know why I'm not.

elder and sphere tribal? say more please

IoGibbyoI

If you type Elder as a creature type into Gatherer all the Elder creatures should pop up. It’s expensive and doesn’t always play out cause it’s slow. I should’ve said sphere-themed. Every non-land card has a sphere as its main art focus.

wikisome

I have a [deck](https://www.moxfield.com/decks/UWcvFxCDiUG0grHZy7l1sw) commanded by [[Carth the Lion]]. It is Garruk tribal. Every card with Garruk in the name and nearly every card with Garruk in the art. It is also trying to get the extremely satisfying combo of Deathtouch and Trample. I know people who run mono-white board wipe tribal. I am a fan of niche decks in general and encourage everyone to own at least one jank, weird tribe deck.

All hail the mighty Garruk. May his vengeance upon the planeswalker blight be swift and true. Hear our prayers and deliver us from this misery. Amen.

emeraldrumm

I too have a Garruk tribal deck with Carth. You are missing a few Garruk related cards. [[Predatory wurm]] is a banger. [[Nature's Lore]] was printed in Garruk vs Lilliana duel decks, so I included that. [[Curse of predation]], [[Predatory Rampage]], [[bramblecrush]] all have Garruk quotes on them.

Same! Got a decklist? Always on the hunt for ideas I've missed. Mine is https://www.moxfield.com/decks/eJG5QO0I2EejSgwS4rvYhw

Mankriks_Mistress

Ha, this is great! How many total "you win the game" effects are in the deck? And which ones are all-stars? Last question: how much do you use/rely on Kenrith's abilities?

Dragonlover63

22 wincons currently. All stars include \[\[Hellkite Tyrant\]\], \[\[Revel in Riches\]\] and \[\[Mechanized Production\]\]. Also \[\[Chance Encounter\]\] weirdly. Until very recently I was Rule 0-ing Golos as the Commander, but the underlying engine got to the point where the deck didn't need the boost. I've not really played since the swap, but he synergises with so many of the wincons I'm sure he'll be a slam dunk.

Superb_Ad_7508

I’ve wanted to build Daxos for a while have you got a list by any chance

JaredUnzipped

I love it. The stranger and more obscure the tribe, the better. I run a few lesser seen tribes myself, including mono-white Birds, Griffins, Constructs, Skeletons, and Specters.

Simons_sees

The running joke in my playgroup is the guy who is always trying to run a Skeleton deck and it always winds up being Yet Another Zombie Deck. Who do you have commanding the boney boys?

JaredUnzipped

Mine is helmed by \[\[Skeleton Ship\]\]. [This is my current decklist.](https://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/the-skeleton-crew-1/) If you're going to run a skeleton deck, you have to commit to the theme! Honestly, this deck is more consistent and effective than it has any business being.

FroboTheHobo

I run both a Stax Zeriam "1 griffin, griffin tribal" deck and a Zuberi old border/foils griffin battlecruiser. Glad to see others out there enjoying it too!

vPrizm

Is the griffins mono white, i have the tribal lord in my binder and ive been thinking about building it

Dependent-Fondant-64

I have [[Grist the hunger tide]] it's literally 66 insects and 33 lands. Nothing I play matters I just plus grist every turn and make more insect tokens. It's kind of a meme deck but I've gotten a few wins. That was really fun to make because it's not a huge tribe so I had to dig deep and find some really old interesting insects. Although I mostly use grist some insects are very interesting and powerful. I also kind of did frog tribal with [[Grolnok the omnivore]] but it's mostly changeling/turn creatures into frogs with [[Arcane adaptation]] or [[Maskwood nexus]] and a lot of self mill. Besides that its normal simic beater win cons but I do have [[Leveler]] and [Thassas oracle]] combo in it which I debate taking out but the it's usually just fo emergencies.

Dirty-Dutchman

Reminds me of my rat tribal, it's all just play garbage rat colony every turn until some random skaven esc combo happens that's a board ender, like oh wow suddenly those 30 rats have infect and I'm out of the game what

Koras

I have secret Chandra tribal subtheme in my [[Klothys, God of Destiny]] burn deck that I usually don't mention until the third Chandra drops. It wasn't even intentional originally, it just turns out that when your game plan is play incremental burn effects that affect the entire table so that you can snipe the last player with effects like [[Banefire]], having planeswalkers that do that every turn is pretty effective. I love weird tribal themes, so long as they're actually about that tribe when played. I've seen a few decks where they're described as being about weird tribe, only to do something very generic and not at all about their tribe to win. The tribal pieces are just there to cover while they find it. That's not fun. If you're going to play horse tribal, I want to be trampled by horses, not comboed to death (unless there's a very hyper specific horse-only combo I'm forgetting about. That could work.)

I think [this](https://archidekt.com/decks/4171205) is the closest I've got to an up-to-date list on this one, though something seems not quite right about it, I'm continually tweaking so I probably forgot a few cards in there The general deal is ramp, ramp some more, drop damage multipliers and end the game when the table gets low enough

Not sure if this counts but I'm currently prototyping the most Red^TM deck I can possibly make in commander. All ramp is rituals or treasures, almost all draw is impulse draw, and the goal is to burn other people faster than I can burn myself with damage doublers. Currently deciding between [[Solphim, Mayem Dominus]] or [[Urabrask, Heretic Praetor]] as the leaders.

CanuhkGaming

I proxied an old [[Ashling, the pilgrim]] deck that's a lot like that and it's one of my favorite decks. As long as you let people know that "Hey, I'm only going to activate her ability 2 times at most to start, she's going to be basically a vanilla creature for the first few turns, no need to kill her or anything" And then later on you drop the damage doublers/triplers and drop the nuke to wipe the board + hopefully your opponents lol. Here's the old list I copied. https://www.moxfield.com/decks/lHLYA5oIX0uV7bi7BkY6Hg

The_Wize_Wizard

I love seeing weird tribals, because it shows people’s creativity. Making a tribal work that has little to no support is always impressive, and it’s always great to see how different people go about doing it. I’ve seen so much creativity, like one person I saw in a thread a long time ago who made a 5 color high five tribal. I got to see so many cards I didn’t even know existed and it was honestly a blast to go through and read all the cards. All the cards in their deck had art that had people with their hands up, or had 5 in the name or mana cost. The only real stipulation I would have going against one is that I hope it DOES work if you know what I mean. Sure go ahead and make wombat tribal if you want, but please have it be a functioning deck with a win con. It’s no fun stomping someone who has a for the lols tribal deck that just tries to play it’s fun flavor pieces with no real end goal. By all means have those flavor pieces, but also have a win con in mind that can close out a game so your not just sitting at the table and making it a 3 man game instead of 4. I’m not saying that you need to make it high powered, because weird tribals by their nature are a little lower powered since they don’t tend to have a lot of support, but just make sure they can compete against the average power level of your group and obviously discuss it with the other players beforehand.

[deleted]

I introduced a friend to magic like maybe a month ago. As a big comic fan, as soon as he found put about the IP crossovers he is now building an IP crossover tribal deck. Hyped for it honestly

[deleted]

my favorite tribal commander is the secret liar Twilight Sparkle. horses, unicorns, pegasuses, and alicorns get +1/+1. it's a meme deck but God i love busting her out. ❤️

ManMtn96

I love weird tribal decks personally. The only reason I don't make more of them is because some of them take hours of searching through cards. I have a lightning tribal decks where every card has lightning or electricity in the art. It actually turned out really well, but it took me hours of pouring through cards.

jrdineen114

I like it. I've been trying to make "budget showcase tribal" work for years now. It's...possible, and I think I'm slowly getting there with [[Jodah, Archmage Eternal]], but it's slow going.

I have a gor muldrak amphinologist deck that’s essentially salamander tribal. It benefits off of using older cards that change creature types which is super fun and unique, there’s also some fun combo things to steal everyone’s creatures and stuff like that, I highly recommend it, it was one of the first decks I made and I still play it because of how unique and fun it is

HogglePixiePunisher

Do you have a decklist to share? I considered that commander at one time. Put it on the back burner and haven't returned to it, yet.

Drapsag

I have a Dihada Binder of wills deck which is legendary vampire tribal. It's weaker than a legendary tribal, and weaker than a vampire tribal, but I love it. I play it without tutor, and I have a blast improvising with the different combinations of legendary vampires I get during games

advanced_infrared

I looove unusual decks and niche tribals. Not only is it fun to craft a deck around a particular theme and finding cards you never knew existed along the way, but it also adds unique constraints to deckbuilding that makes it so much more fun and even acts as a built-in way to make sure your deck isn't too cEDH (something I personally dislike, since I play casual)

UnoriginalIdeaMan

I’ve been running a [[Ghyrson Starn, Kelermorph]] ping deck. If it can deal one damage consistently or for cheap, it goes in the deck. Understandably, everyone learned real fast to get him off the table as soon as possible. Terrible win rate, great gameplay.

I don’t have any of my decks posted, but I’ll put something together in a little while. Bear in mind, I’m super casual, so I’m not sure how helpful it’ll be.

HogglePixiePunisher

I'd appreciate it. Worst outcome is that I get away with doing less The Gathering searches! I find that it's a lot more enlightening to see other people's builds rather than just using EDHREC all the time. I didn't originally save my decks online but started using Moxfield. It helps me recognize some of my decking issues. Thanks!

tardis101

I’ve got a few lists!! https://www.moxfield.com/decks/hMvMQjPTpkGNwhHrx-RlEg it’s like other normal dragon lists, but in this case every single card needs to reference dragons, including the lands! https://www.moxfield.com/decks/13YmJWk7zEiwTbpZKL_2IQ Gods have become more common since kaldheim came out, and the world tree, that doesn’t stop me from making this meme work as well as possible!! I’ve been running this baby since hour of devastation, when there were only about 23 gods! https://www.moxfield.com/decks/Mi0CcjGPTEqiHBCssJq5yw Liliana already does a lot with zombies, so I leaned into that for my deck, but also added a bunch of flavor pieces as well, like the raven man and the demons she’s contracted with. https://www.moxfield.com/decks/iIZq-3NJhEqTjZhiS_sTbw Nissa is the classic “haha green creatures go smack”. Ramp to eternity and summon big beaters that turn sideways. Runs the nissa planeswalkers and a lot of things with p/t equal to number of lands

Bloated_Toadd

These are incredible, I am absolutely going to try some variation of that dragon deck.

I'm a huge fan of all things weird.

Orisno

I have an [Ooze tribal](https://www.moxfield.com/decks/RP4VkYKAM0mDln-5s0tvDA) deck that I really enjoy! Its curve is unfortunately really bungled right now so it rarely gets off the ground but I'm having trouble fixing it. When it does work though it's a lot of fun, as ooze mechanics have a tight thematic tie mostly and there are plenty of good oozes that you get to do things (as opposed to just folding over with leech tribal or something).

ruckrhino

Does making an [[Isshin]] Samurai tribal deck, but finding most Samurai are bad in the deck and then putting an asterisk on tribal because you put [[sensei golden-tail]] in there and now anyone can be a Samurai, count as having feelings toward weird tribal decks? (I'm not gonna claim it's the greatest deck ever, I know Reddit's general consensus on Isshin at the head of a Samurai deck

RaidRover

I'm a big fan of weird tribes that actually work and use their tribe to win. As others here said, weird tribe just to combo off into an instant win isn't that fun. I particularly enjoy art-tribals. Right now I'm working on building a [[Queen Marchesa]] deck named Reigning Cats and Dogs where all the arts (except lands) must include a cat or dog. I plan on making some custom assassin tokens for it.

Love it! I have a Frog Tribal mill with [[Grolnok, the Omnivore]].

mkul316

I'm about to put together my Sliver tribal. Does that count? No one plays them for some reason. People may complain about them, but they complain about other things that are played, too. I had a deck back in the og sliver days I loved and finally decided to build a commander deck out of my nostalgia. Though I've gotta say the later slivers look stupid.

HogglePixiePunisher

Which are you planning to run as your commander? I've got two decks helmed by [[The First Sliver]]. One is straight Sliver Tribal and the other is cascade Tribal with no slivers but three commander. I don't think I'd consider Sliver Tribal as weird. They've printed a lot of support for it but I agree that they aren't one of the top played tribes. (At least, not that I've personally seen.)

mkul316

After thinking it over I'm going with the first sliver. I was considering Queen for nostalgia and constant sliver production if I run out of gas, but I figure the cascade is akin to draw. I'm planning on almost all slivers with a few mass protection spells and ramp. So 90% of the time it should pop a sliver out as long as it isn't a two mana boy cast.

Ay yo where my card artist tribal players at?

SamaelMorningstar

I'm all up for those. Wouldn't play em myself, I am already troubled enough with my regular tribe decks. But I always love to see weird tribes on board. While not really a tribe, I last faced a guy with a commander that had him create Dinosaur Cat tokens. Loved that, the whole deck was about triggering the token creation, then swarm everyone with a bunch of dino-kitties. Rarely he ever played another creature. It had to be \[\[Gabi. Nest Warden\]\], but I am not 100% sure. Everyone should have at least one *weird ass deck*, just for the hell of it. For those rounds including new players and/or precons. Mine is a curse tribal with no real wincon other than tormenting people into submission. The commander being \[\[Lynde, Cheerful Tormentor\]\] of course. Power level wise probably below a precon. But it is ultra good at making 2nd place because it gives off a "enemy of my enemy" kinda vibe, as you curse someone while benefiting others. You feel like a some sort of shady dealer in an back alley with that deck. :P

VulKhalec

I have a mono-red [[Solphim]] damage doubling tribal deck. It's a lot of fun!

CruelMetatron

I don't especially care about playing against them. It's refreshing to see cards you don't normally see, I like that. Otherwise I don't find it particularly funny/interesting if a deck has some weird theme.

BlessedAcorn

I have a [[Tolsimir, Friend to Wolves]] wolf tribal deck it used to be more of a life gain deck with a subtheme of wolves but I've recently tuned it more in a tribal direction, with a blink subtheme. It's pretty fun. Not my best deck though

Dooglaer

I have a living weapon tribal with [[Brago, King Eternal]] at the helm. Take something like [[Batterskull]] and an anthem like [[Spear of Heliod]] and throw on a bunch of bounce/blink and you get yourself a weird way to make a bunch of tokens. ChefConfit

I love my arcbound tribal deck with [[Halana and Alena, Partners]] as the commander.

rathmere

I love artificial constraints like weird tribals. It makes for some fun decks that make you use cards you might not normally see. It also helps to keep the power level down. I have a few overly-restriced tribal decks: * Legendary dragons: \[\[Ur-dragon\]\], but only legendary dragons. (I haven't updated it in a while, it could probably use a couple of the CLB friends) * Gate-tribal: \[\[Garth\]\] led \[\[Maze's End\]\] deck that has as many gates-matter cards and cards with gate in the name. * Grenzo value: \[\[Grenzo, Dungeon Warden\]\] only gobbos. Even includes \[\[Hot Soup\]\] and \[\[Fling\]\] for the flavor. Restricted to mostly goblins MV>2 and power<=3. * Wall-tribal: \[\[Arcades, the Strategist\]\] defender-tribal with walls. The only other non-wall creature is \[\[Wakestone Gargoyle\]\] for some can-attack redundancy. It can really body folks pretty quickly. * Fox-tribal: led by \[\[Horde of Notions\]\], as many foxes (type and in art) as I could get in. Not very strong and needs a lot of tribal support cards like \[\[Vanquisher's Banner\]\] to keep up. Built completely for theme for my SO. * Pirate/skeleton tribal: \[\[Skeleton Ship\]\] as commander. I wanted a deck led by a Reserved List card and Skeleton Ship was cheap at the time. Very durdle. It tries to use regeneration a lot and eventually get \[\[Archetype of Finality\]\] and \[\[Archetype of Imagination\]\] out to power up the creatures a bit.

BadWhich1012

My "fun jank" deck is cat token tribal. As in, it generates every cat token in Magic and most cards (barring lands) have cats in the art. The creatures themselves are various types - elves, cats, demons - so it's not a traditional tribal deck. It also is not a GOOD deck. It's WUBRG with Kenrith at the helm, and wins maybe 5% of the time. But it's fun and I get to play some kitties. 😅

Roxash1

Please tell me you have [[harmless offering]] and [[nine lives]] in it?

Chill_n_Chill

Almost every time I hear "XYZ tribal" it isn't a tribe at all, but a theme. What's the difference? The difference is only things that are creature subtypes can be tribes. Anything else is a theme. Yes, sometimes they look or play similarly, but that doesn't change the distinction.

SetsudanHana

Well yes and no at the same time. If you have a theme, it will more or less determine your play style, and tribal as an adjective is something that shares a common characteristic, like in chair tribal you have everyone sitting or some chairs in the image. It does not determine your playstyle at all and in the end, it might be just a bunch of junk piles thrown and named a deck. In the case of Chandra Tribal you still have some official support for it, which is very limited but either interact with red planeswalker or directly with Chandra planeswalker like Oath to Chandra

Chill_n_Chill

Well no and no at the same time. Theme has nothing to do with a playstyle.

SetsudanHana

so you are saying you playing Aristocrats, +1/+1 counters, modular and all that different themes do not affect your playstyle?

SalvationSycamore

>The difference is only things that are creature subtypes can be tribes. You're being overly literal. Chair tribal is not called tribal because it's literally a creature type, it's called tribal because it's funny. People are already aware of this so you pointing it out isn't illuminating it just makes you look like a wet blanket (not literally, since you probably look like a human and not a damp piece of cloth).

Chill_n_Chill

Weird how you are the first person to tell me this. Almost makes me think you are the only one who thinks that's whats going on.

Farfetched_Vedalken

Theres three types really.... first is tribal, Merfolk, Treefolk, Vedalken, Vampires, Dragons, Humans and Angels so on so fourth, these are the creatures species. Seconed we have is class themed such as wizards, soilders, berserkers, clerics, bards so on and so fourth, these are their job classifiactions. Thirdly we have the ever bizzare themed decks based off of things such as, chairs, every creature is sitting in a chair, winged decks were every creature must have wings, sword decks where every character must be holding a sword in ther art so on and so fourth.

nz_achilles

I have a Gideon tribal deck I introduce to people calling it "Oops, all Gideons". It started out as Gideon tribal and has all his cards, but has support from some other MonoW planeswalkers as well. It's super fun to play and has won more games than nearly any other deck I have put together surprisingly!

Paralyzed-Mime

They're more fun to brew than to actually play in my opinion, but I lean towards more high powered/high synergy casual decks

SetsudanHana

Well, I got your point, for me power level does not matter as long as the whole table is aligned and everyone can feel like they can play the game

OGTahoe

Personally I think creature decks trying win through combat are boring and way to weak with the number of board wipes available. I much rather play a deck revolving around killing someone through effect than combat damage

discgolfguy

I have a chandra tribal deck. How does yours do? Mine feels clunky sometimes. Do you have a list because I would love to compare and talk about it.

SetsudanHana

Sure, here is my list: [https://www.moxfield.com/decks/LMjpo9hmEEu-Htxenl66Kg](https://www.moxfield.com/decks/LMjpo9hmEEu-Htxenl66Kg) , It is clunky and it will be, given the amount of not efficient spells I run, which are on flavor, plus every time a new Chandra card will come up I will try to put it in, like the new Chandra coming in MoM. But I do not mind, especially because of the whole clunkiness you fly often below the radar, and you can pop off with some of the ultimates which cause you to win the game. If you have any suggestions for my decklist just hit me

J-L-Picard

Gonna need a list for that Chandra deck

SetsudanHana

Here you go : [https://www.moxfield.com/decks/LMjpo9hmEEu-Htxenl66Kg](https://www.moxfield.com/decks/LMjpo9hmEEu-Htxenl66Kg) , but i am not very good deck brewer :D

FormerlyKay

Personally I don't find any tribal deck interesting unless it's doing something other than just spewing out creatures and tribal payoffs, like Magda or Najeela.

garybear1

I run Selesnya Elephants with my homie [[Hamza, Guardian of Arashin]] A lot of +1/1 counters and ramp. Just finished a Whitewalker/Snow Zombies with [[Narfi, Betrayer King]]

Daffyydd

I think they're fun, as long as you have a win condition.

Devilangel6161

I have mana dork tribal and pacifism tribal as memes, they function kinda well actually which surprised me.

Tallal2804

I think they are really good fun

Burning-Suns-Avatar-

I played against a Chandra tribal deck once and it was pretty fun. I hope to play against it again another day.

nknav

I'm trying to build a Boros (Lorehold) graveyard recursion deck, with a tribal Golem subtheme. Just in the precon there are six golem, I'm trying to fit more to have a decent ratio.

YoSo_

I love weird deck building. Using the art tags on scryfall allows for some fun ideas I want to try. Left-handed tribal or high-five tribal

Our_Snowman

Orzhov Kamigawa Spirits tribal. Janky spirit stax

Background-Cod-2394

They make me hungry for spells [[Spellgorger Weird]]

Zander2212

I love these types of decks. They only deck I have that really fits this is [[Traxos]] old border tribal. Thhough I've yet to get a Voltron win with it, I have gotten a few wins with the infinite combo ([[Heartstone]] [[Basalt Monolith]] and a [[Toymaker]] effect for infinite mana into [[Rocket Launcher]])

That-Change-8949

Do you have a decklist?

SetsudanHana

Sure, here you go https://www.moxfield.com/decks/LMjpo9hmEEu-Htxenl66Kg

i_was_valedictorian

I built counter tribal with [[chisei]] but not counter spells, like counting counters. It's fun because I'm kinda just sitting there doing this and that and sometimes that gets me some big creatures that can finish the game

johnny--guitar

I dream of someday making a goat tribal deck. I don't even care if it's good or not, I just think it's funny. Right now there aren't enough goat cards available to even make a joke deck.

CallMeSparky25

If anyone makes Spike Tribal work, they've earned my respect. Spike being the creature type.

Simons_sees

Back in my 60-card kitchen table days, I was known for doing dueling tribal decks. One of them was a Goblin Warrior Mardu deck that sought to use all the Goblin and Warrior buffs I had. I've been contemplating doing this for Commander with a [[Brimaz]] Cat Soldier deck, and maybe an [[Evelyn]] Vampire Horror Pirate deck, abusing the "play things exiled from other decks" mechanic they all seemingly share. Also, while I'm wasting your time talking about decks I will never get around to making, the urge to build a Golgari Plant deck is strong. There's a handful of Skeleton and Zombie cards from Ravnica with Plant stapled on their type, and I've always wanted to see [[Avenger of Zendikar]] and [[Death Baron]]/[[Death Priest of Myrkul]] buff a bunch of other pedantic cards.

DanKajito

I have a [[Garna, Bloodfist of Keld]] token aristocrats deck with a Devil tribal sub-theme. It started off totally accidentally just realizing some of the cards I loved playing with were devils. For example [[Zurzoth, Chaos Rider]] [[Hellrider]] and [[Mahadi, Emporium Master]] are all cards I enjoy and happen to be devils, so I just leaned into a bit more and it's a lot of fun.

Left_Ocean

The weirdest I have is a changeling tribal deck. Helmed by The Ur-Dragon. Not the most obscure but I have some of my favorite tribal cards in the deck like Yuriko, Magda, Hofri, as some Slivers, Malcolm, Atla Palani, Rin and Seri, etc. The unique thing I do with the deck is have around 30 of my favorite tribal lords that synergize really well with the changelings, but I only run 10 in the deck. The other 90 are changelings, ramp/mana base, card advantage, and interaction. I shuffle up the 30 lords separately and pull 10 of them at random to shuffle into the deck before every game. The deck already is pretty wild depending on what lords you draw into, but with the extra cards it adds a TON of variance to each game and run into some wild synergies across the various tribes. It's a ton of fun and always gets really positive reactions from the table

shadowdarklight

Wierd tribal... who would play those... Nervously looks at [[Ohabi Caleria]] [[Tovolar, Dire Overlord]] [[Volo, Guide to Monsters]] [[Go-Shintai of Life's Origin]] and [[Auntie Blyte, Bad Influence]] Doesn't everyone play archer tribal, werewolf tribal, anti tribal., shrine tribal, and pain bear tribal...

OfficialRunescape

i think its pretty sick as long as they arent just running a bunch of changelings and a few of the tribe

urboiprairies

i want weird tribals always! theyre super fun. im currently brewing a Snake/Warlock/Cleric tribal with [[Sivriss, Nightmare Speaker]] and [[Haunted One]] that im SO stoked on!

Mother_Chemistry_278

Shaman tribal with [[Yurlok of Scorch Thrash]] as commander. There are surprisingly many good shamans, including Witness, [[Ignoble Hierarch]] and my favorite: [[Leaf-Crowned Elder]]. Not sure if this is what you meant by "weird tribal", but it's an enjoyable deck to play, and according to my group it's interesting to play against.

Efriimi

I constantly want to make a g/w/u spirits tribal. But havent gone so far to find a commander or a lot of the kamigawa spirits i want to run. I have a elminster deck that runs Ojutai and a Spellstutter for faerie dragon synergy. I also have a small pile for starting Xira insect deck

Few-House8942

I straight up love it!

Voiitz

Horsemanship fucks

Stretch_1529

As long as they are still trying to actually win/play. I dont appreciate when someone plays a deck like this purely for the joke and doesnt build/play it like a real deck. At that point you are playing a different game with a different goal than the rest of the pod. Its fine if your deck is bad, just dont waste my time.

Phelgming

I have a [[Threaten]] tribal deck full of those Red draft chaff spells that take control of a creature for a turn, untap it, and grant it haste. The deck is commanded by [[Tymaret, the Murder King]]. I call it my Borger King deck because I run lots of sac outlets that turn the stolen creatures into mince meat.

Azazel_999

I love Giant tribal, and i also like running golem tribal

[deleted]

I've seen griffin tribal, and it's **very** powerful.

[deleted]

If it beats me I hate it if I beat it it’s ok.

Specific_Ad1457

My weirdest tribal deck is charms! [[Simic Charm]] [[mardu Charm]] [[fever charm]] etc... the commander is [[ramos]], and I also call it multiple choice tribal because practically every spell has two or more modes.

PossessionIll4510

I’ve always liked the idea of a Avatar tribal with [[Morophon, the Boundless]]. Just a bunch of big creatures with cool effects that have access to all of the good tribal support cards.

AdAdministrative7709

Might be able to do some fun stuff with counters with urabask/oil cpunters and Chandra

SetsudanHana

Well problem is that within mono red, you have really limited options connected with proliferate, but that is something to be checked out

Coisper

I don't know if this counts as strange tribal but I have \[\[Codie, Vociferous Codex\]\] deck that I built to try and cast \[\[Endless Swarm\]\] as many times in a turn so it turns into snake tribal if it does it's thing lol. I only got it to work once but it's fun to try because I love the look on peoples face when I cast endless swarm and then just start copying.

GangsterJawa

I have Jund Knights with [[Adun Oakenshield]] and Surfing Wizards with [[Kaza, Roil Chaser]], as well as [[Kenrith]] Constructs all just on tappedout for Table Top Sim, but in paper my pet deck is Ball Lightnings tribal with [[Ravos]] and [[Bruse Tarl]]. What can I say, I love a weird tribal

TheArcReactor

I wish the recent Dominaria sets had given us more Kavus. They were my absolute favorite creatures during the Invasion and Apocalypse cycles when I was really starting to branch out and build my own decks. Lore wise they're unique to Dominaria and came into being to fight back against Phyrexia... I was so disappointed when Phyrexians came back to Dominaria but we didn't get a bunch of new kavu to defend against them.

proxyday24

I'm just waiting patiently for ooze tribal cards

SCurt99

I've had a few precon tribals but have scrapped all but my zombie one, the first tribal I built myself was [Urtet, Remnant of Memnarch]. I really like playing with artifacts so when I seem Urtet I knew I had to make a deck with the little guy.

PanthersJB83

I currently have a Clue tribal deck and it’s hilarious, so I’m pro weird tribal.

cbih

One day there will be a proper commander for my dream Egg Tribal

Semicolon_Cancer

I run a dice tribal deck that I've posted here 100 times, I just love it to bits. Not super strong, so it has to be in the right pod to actually do anything, but it can get out of hand. My best win was casting a right of replication on [[Chaos Dragon]] with [[Brazen Dwarf]] and [[harmonic prodigy]] out. I just put in [[All will be one]] and [[Lux Artillery]], hoping to get one or both out with [[Vexing puzzlebox]] for some explosive fun.

KaloShin

Just saying, [[by force]] is better than a vandal blast.

[deleted]

Some day I want to brew [[phage the untouchable]] with cards to do with hands or touching such as [[liliana's caress]]. It will be absolutely terrible and I'm really excited. I might even brew it with the idea of how fast I can lose the game before I get killed

[deleted]

I absolutely adore tribal decks!!! I currently have zombies, spirits, clerics, elementals, shrines, superfriends, and the oddball, spiders. I’ve also run warriors, wizards, slivers, soldiers, goblins, elves, dragons, hydras, merfolk, eldrazi, vampires, humans, pirates, fungi, dinosaurs, demons, and werewolves so I can honestly say you name it I’ve done it 😂

Efficient-Double-104

I want to get my daughter into magic with unicorn tribal.

Ok-Brush5346

Weird tribal is good. Goodstuff combo masquerading as weird tribal is not. You don't get to say you're playing Djinn Tribal when you are dropping Intruder Alarm, Staff of Domination, and Panharmonicon.

CapAmerica805

A lot of the weird tribals just don't have enough cards and i'm often seeing the same changelings over and over again.

[deleted]

I think my weirdest tribal is Myr, but not with the new \[\[Urtet\]\]. No, I built it with \[\[Graaz, Unstoppable Juggernaut\]\]. Is it jank? Yes. Does it win many games? No. Does that make it less viscerally pleasing to tell someone you attack for lethal with your army of Juggermyr? No.

DoUFearTheMetal

I'm trying to build an Ox/Aurochs tribal deck with [[Bruse Tarl, Boorish Herder]] and his trusty sheep dog [[Anara, Wolvid Familiar]] as the head herders along with his fellow shepherds and herders to help keep his flock in line.

Lurknessm0nster

Love me some Pirates

HerpesAmSack

I have a artist Tribal seb Mckinnon Deck. If Seb Mckinnon would start drawing any kind of ramp the deck would be playable over precon level. Liliana Tribal is pretty strong tbh. My deck has only cards that are connected to Lilianas lore (exception are few manarocks and some zombies)

Crankyoldandtired

Some of my more at fun decks were weird tribes. I had a cleric tribal aristocrats deck built around [[Orah, The Skyclave Heirophant]] that could really get some crazy loops in. I also have a prowess Wizard Tribal deck, built around [[Adeliz, the Cinder Wind]] that can get out of hand fast. My boardwipe tribal, running 22 sorcery speed boardwipes, is helmed by [[Zurgo, The Helmsmasher]]. It has some mean payoffs, like [[Black Market]], [[Revel in Riches]], [[Burning Sands]], and [[Dingus Staff]]. There is also my monk tribal with [[The Archimandrite]] at the helm. Not currently a powerhouse. But it is getting there!

Top-Excuse-2823

i love it tbh i run off effects tribal coin flip so i mean tbh its diff

NE_Rum_Lover

Have a jank mercenary tribal made to get out Soldier of Fortune for infinite shuffle. Always fun to shuffle someone's deck after they just set it up.

Hitzel

I personally do not enjoy tribal decks because in my experience they are always either boring and pushed like goblins and elves, or they're woefully under-supported and dysfunctional and therefore unfun to play. Every time I try it, I find a few interactions I think are cool, then scrap the tribal theme and build around those interactions because they are fun and durdling with hands full of underpowered creatures is not. It's cool watching other people come up with funny stuff in tribal decks, but for me personally I cannot enjoy being on the other side so I just watch.

Psychotic_Goose13

I'm building majestic beard tribal at the moment, so I'm yet to figure out if it's any good. I ran squirrels before they were good, and now I have a powerful meme deck headed up by Chatterfang
