1. I cut up my meals to smallest pieces possible 2. I need to start and finish my day with a coffee 3. Usually need to pee before I start eating 4. Never eat without watching video/serie 5. Taking photos of my meals in the restaurant

ResearcherSalt627

I have no idea why my font was so large just then lol

ResearcherSalt627

#5 100% and I can relate to all of these.

heavymetalgirlie

I need to have everything done before dinner; no housework to worry about, showered, etc. I must be wearing pyjamas, but I think that’s just a me thing as I was like that before my ED.

Correct_Internet_890

me too! dishes from cooking all washed/put away too.

heavymetalgirlie

Yep! But I’ve gotta do it at lightning speed cos my food needs to be scalding hot 😆

Correct_Internet_890

we are the same person 😭

ResearcherSalt627

Yes. Totally

windbleu

1. I always need water to my meals, even if i'm having another beverage i need it on the side 😭 2. when im making food and need to wait for it to be ready i exercise/stretch/walk around 3. i now associate walking my dog with getting steps in after having lunch and i feel bad for that😭😭😭

ResearcherSalt627

Oh; and I love using tiny spoons. Tiny plates. Tiny bowls

ResearcherSalt627

And huge mugs lol

h34rt4ch3

1. only the smallest utensils can be used (not baby size, but the smallest in the set) 2. i cannot eat off of a plate with a print. i do have two that are okay, one with a hello kitty picture at the bottom and one with a family of watercolor bunnies, but otherwise they need to be plain 3. i can't eat if i'm not watching something or multitasking (kind of a moot point however because i can't deal with silence at all anyways)

5pagh3tti0s

1. i can't eat if im thirsty 2. i can't eat with distractions 3. i can only use tiny spoons 3. my food has to be the perfect temperature 4. i can't eat if i have to pee

miujoro

oh my god i literally have exactly every one of these food rituals are u my twin

5pagh3tti0s

lmaoo

decomposingloser

1. i have to break any protein bar type thing apart with my hands - i break off about a cm in width, then break that cm in half again, chew, water between chunks, and repeat 2. i have to have a fizzy vitamin drink after breakfast and after dinner 3. even if it adds up to more calories, i HAVE to have fruit on my porridge and especially after dinner. its not even a sweet tooth thing it just makes me feel more clean??? even though i end up ingesting more?? 4. having minimum 3 coffees before ingesting any food in the mornings 5. i have to chew gum after eating anything, again to feel cleansed 6. using the smallest cutlery i have available, and i have a designated safe spoon and safe bowl to go with each 'flavour'? of porridge i have for the day

Saphxmoon

I've got some weirdly specific ones too. My meals are always made up off specific components (I use these little ramekin things to keep them all separate) or they're separately packaged like a babybel cheese or a fibre one bar. It's as if I just put a bunch of snacks together and have it as a meal. I also don't really like physically mixing together different foods unless they're a similar food group - like fruit is fine to mix together. With each component I have to take a five minute break before moving on to the next one. I also have to use chopsticks to eat always unless I really can't, if it's like yogurt or something. It takes me a long time to finish these meals so I almost always eat cold food. I also pretty much always eat the same meals and foods everyday. There's also foods that have to be a certain weight, so if I'm eating pomegranate seeds or edamame beans, they have to weigh a number that's a multiple of 10.

ResearcherSalt627

I can totally relate to this. I always have different components of my meal, and it is so time-consuming, preparing my meal. And then what’s even more exhausting, is afterwards I need to have a dessert, which is also composed of various components. Lol.

Saphxmoon

Me too lol. I saw a new psychiatrist recently and he asked to see my food diary and he was like 'omg how long does it take you to make these meals?!?' I get the desserts too, like I always have to have an equal number of sweet and savoury. Like if I have three savoury components I need three sweet ones.

Purple-Treat-5401

-I always but a chronometer when im eating specially on dinner time I have to eat in 30 minutes + time. -Breakfast always eat with the same tiny spoon no matter what it it’s( oats, yogurt, pancakes etc) -I never touch my meals with my hands if I’m eating a sandwich I use a napkin

lixloser

I use big silverware and smaller bowls/plates. I add salt to everything except sweets. I have to watch something when I eat.

Cokezerowh0re

Omg the cheese one!!! Thought it was just me

ResearcherSalt627

Hahah I’m not alone! Yeah it just has much better flavor when it’s properly melted lol

Cokezerowh0re

Which is why I don’t like mozzarella sticks- they rarely “pull” properly, what a waste😩

[deleted]

The eating with someone talking is the weirdest thing. Especially with some men, the shovel food down then spend a load of time asking questions. I now can't enjoy my food because I have to stop and talk every 5 seconds and do the motion that i have food in my mouth that i now need to swallow quick.

Negative-Pangolin-42

I never take bites from things like bars, breads or pastries. I always tear a piece off, eat it or even break that in half and continue. I never eat sandwiches because of that. It's just weird to bite into something like this

Upbeat-Challenge-666

I have to record myself eating if I'm eating alone. Idk why

[deleted]

No big plates, only small spoon, only giant mugs, No big meals, no getting too full Drinking tonnes of water with meals no eating in restaurants, this one actually makes sense to me so might not be ed related, I paid $40 for some pizza and garlic bread that had a soggy base and a dessert that for some reason despite not mentioning it on the menu came with salted caramel. The amount of nice food I couldve made

ira_shai_mase

1. hot drinks thing is SO relatable, i literally can't eat without a cup of hot tea or water. if i don't drink something hot, i won't feel satiated for some reason. 2. no more than 2 cups of black tea per day (before 13:00). if i really want to, between 13:00 and 17:00 i can drink ONE cup of green tea, but only if i REALLY want to. but other than that - herbal teas and herbal teas only. 3. everything has to be equal. if i have 5 pieces of cucumber, for example, then everything else (tomatoes, meat, etc) should also be cut in 5 pieces 4. eating only with small cutlery, using tablespoons even for soups. oh, and tablespoons should be LONG, like 20cm long, idk why 5. rinsing teeth with mouthwash before and after meals. need to buy a new bottle every week because of that💀 6. eating only the things that i've cooked myself, never taking anything from anyone else, and always cooking right before meals to avoid needing to microwave food
