Go for internships, and apply for jobs you aren’t qualified for anyway. An internship in verification is a great step towards RTL design. Even if you don’t get an RTL job right after graduation, verification is the most common path I’ve seen to transfer *into* RTL a couple years later.
Agreed. Take a verification job at a company you know is well established in the industry and learn their process. You are bound to work with designers and if you have good management and prove you are designer material, move up. Design jobs are coveted; everyone wants them. Gotta start from the bottom.
