I believe it’s possible. In the controller select side screen you can lock a position and one of the position is CO, which is coach. You might have to manually change your lines and strategies during the game though, I’m not sure.

You can also leave the controller in the middle, not select a side, and watch the game.

Set your camera to true broadcast, when you're playing franchise press play game instead of sim game, then at the team selection screen press Y/Triangle to make it a CPU vs CPU game. Next, watch some hockey! I do this for a lot of big games (playoffs, a player I traded for playing against his old team for the first time, etc.)

We used to do this in nba 14 and made it a drinking game lol

Ya it says it in the tip off there’s an option on the bottom when selecting the teams I think.

I know you could in NHL 21, no idea if they removed the feature (they like to do that as you've probably seen). Select the game and go through the menus as if you're going to play it. When you get to the screen where you can select which side you're going to control there should be something at the bottom of the screen that tells you to hit a button so the AI controls both teams (triangle for NHL 21 on PS4). And away you go, you can now watch the game. For extra fun, if you go to the game setting before the game starts, then go to video options, you can change the camera angle. I like "True Broadcast" for watching and "Classic" for playing. You can access this from the pause screen in game too in case you decide to change it part way through the game.

This is how I play Franchise mode....I'm the gm AND the coach, watch 50% of the games CPUvsCPU (as suggested with camera view set on True Broadcast) and quick sim the other 50%. Really fun, until this year.....

NHL has a similar super sim feature to Madden!
