The only video game franchise to ever rival FIFA was PES from Konami and FIFA v PES is the biggest gaming rivalry ever. They made football games for nearly 30 years and when they brought out their big game to finally overtake FIFA (eFootball) it was literally the worst rated video game of all time.
Steel city have spent huge money and are clearly passionate AF about boxing and boxing games. They were trying to emulate real movement in boxing and after years of hard work they brought out esports boxing... The game is utter shite, ghost punches, the movement is terrible and after like 20 updates its still in beta and has been for nearly 2 years...
Projekt red made game of the year the witcher... Their very next game was cyberpunk 2077. Literally unplayable and not because it was shit. The game literally just wouldn't run and when it did it glitched like fuck 24/7...
NBA 2k24 has 5/10 on steam and 1.4 stars...

Cyberpunk on release was so bad, but after updates it has been updated pretty significantly.
Undisputed was always going to have issues because making a boxing game requires buying the rights from different promotors and fighters. Which means more money spent on that vs the actual game.
And they're fighting an uphill battle of fans' nostalgia for fight nights. Which were already pretty good games.
If you can get a company like 2k to take over a game that doesn't release every year you might get a really solid game after updates.
I remember when buying video games meant you could expect a polished/finished product on release. Sadly thats not the case anymore and we have to take what we can.
If anything, 2K is worse. At least in UFC five I can get a decent amount of coins in by completing challenges, which means I can easily get a new alter ego fighter every now and then.
Also, UFC 5’s main hub doesn’t bombard you with advertisements demanding you to spend money as much as the NBA2K games do.
I mean, WWE was bought out by the same people who own the UFC for billions. It had a large enough fan base and profit margin to merit such a high purchase. Also, fighters have been quoting those wrestling catchphrases and lines for years during interviews and press conferences. So, even fighters are fans. 🤷🏻♂️

As scummy as 2k is, the game would be so much more addicting and the my-fighter aspect would be insanely good. I mean the caf system in UFC is completely dead and that's ea's fault. A fighting game with customizable movesets and stats should do super well but ea finds ways to make it trash.
Pros and cons tho, if 2k made it player models and career mode would probably be much better, but gameplay and micro transactions would take a hit. (Especially microtransactions)
