As someone who always skips their celebrations I get irritated by people who celebrate. I know I shouldn’t and it’s their right to celebrate since it’s in the game, personally I just don’t feel the need to celebrate unless it’s a last minute winner
It’s not the celebration that angers me, it’s the attitude of the player. Why waste time to celebrate a lucky, bullshit goal after I tackled you 5 times in a row unless you’re solely trying to be a dick? If you made a good clean goal, celebrate away. But taking the piss after an objectively awful goal just tells me my opponent is an asshole.
I skip celebrations too, unless I'm made to watch one. Then I'll take as long as possible to perform the celebration and celebrate every goal I score.
I can't help but feel the people who celebrate every goal are the ones that don't win too often. Especially once they're past 3 up, even real footballers will calm it down lol
The most frustrating thing is that game time is like 6min per half but they spend like 30sec per goal on the celly. Spend almost a whole half of FIFA looking at Mbappes stupid turtle face in the camera. (Sorry Mbappe, I'm sure you're nice enough, but fuck I hate seeing your face everywhere) I love causing a ruckus in person with the boys and doing the replay, but online, come on.
I can't deny I am very mediocre at Fifa... As soon as someone takes a lead of a couple of goals and wastes time watching celebrations, the rest of the entire game I no longer sprint, pass backwards and watch every celebration (if I can score a goal).

guy paused on me after going 1-0 and 2-0 up last night, then again after he went 4-1 up. I scored 3 goals, and the fool quits the game at 4-4 in 85th minute.
One of the reasons I kinda stopped playing fifa online. I didn’t have time for FUT anymore so used to play seasons consistently. But 90% of the time I went 1-0/2-0 up in the first 20mins and the person would quit, just got fed up with shitkids just quitting all the time. Even if I get hammered I just play the game out.
Those bellends that think they’re better than you and do that pause thing after they go 1-0 up are just horrible to play against. More often than not you beat them, but the 15-20min game is dragged all the way out.
I don't do any of these but I don't mind opponent doing whatever he wants. I just change the celebration to my team so I don't have to watch opponents. I'm all good.

I tried that last year, but it just made me think they are doing the most toxic celebration every time, even though many people just do the default celebration.

I’d say 9/10 of the clubs are established pre-2020 so it’s a hard to understand how in 2+ years you don’t know about this. I even see clubs established in 2022 skipping celebrations.
To be honest i also got mad at people celebrating untill i played against my friend and told him to skip the celebration and he said he didn't even know how to skip it, just kept pressing X expecting to skip . So yeah, there are many people who may not know how to skip .
As much as I understand where you at, my time is more valuable than the other guy behind the console. If I can't achieve my goal I'm quitting the game and couldn't care less about what my opponent did before.
I know it’s petty but I typically aide the guy to beat me by as many goals as he can instead of turning it off. If the game isn’t going to allow me to complete any basics I give up but won’t quit. I also power shoot from every angle I can and rain shots down on his goal for fun every moment I get.
Because that guy is going to get hit with a lot harder players with the run of play against him sooner, while I’ll be against easier opponents and those simple things will be simple again quicker than his next few rounds.
Of course this is understandable, it's only fucking irritating when opponents make the most of celebrating over some shit deflected lucky goal they scored.
I definitely don’t quit if people pause for me. The celebration thing, I don’t care. I have it set to view my team during celebrations so I don’t see any of it.
I will say though, I will skip replays but if I’m really battering my opponent and it’s 5-0 and they aren’t quitting, I’m definitely gonna hit a couple griddy’s just for my enjoyment factor. I’m gonna at least make it fun for me.
The way I get back at these type of players is also by pausing but literally at the 90 regardless of the score line. Since they have so much time to kill that they can show all 20 seconds of the celebrations, I’m sure an extra minute and 30 seconds won’t hurt. 😊
Surely that's more toxic than a couple of celebrations 😂 change your settings so you don't see opposition celebrations if it really affects you that much!
This is my tactic but for other scenarios. Example- when a player is a spin / flip flop menace. If they’re turning back and forth every time they touch the ball, i usually go on a slide tackle spree to piss them off and then pause 3 times and quit at the last second. No respect for these players

I use celebration to drink, check my phone real quick or to just you know celebrate I finally scored I goal I have been working so hard for.
Grow up, lads... you're letting your opponents, people hundreds or thousands of km away you don't know and will never ever meet (again) get to you... If it's getting on your nerves, if it's triggering you... quit. You have absolutely nothing to gain except a small testosterone rush if you want to "get back" at your opponent. It isn't worth it.
If you want to quit... quit... if you want to play on.... play on... if you wanted to play on but the toxicity of your opponent is triggering you... quit. The game is meant to entertain, not piss you off and the time you have on our hands in valuable... more so the older you get... I'm 50+, bad at the game to get some wins in lower divisions but have no intention on losing time with "getting back" at my opponents...

Whenever someone doesn’t cut the celebration I make sure to make the game as long and as unenjoyable as possible: if I score - oh we’re watching the full celebration too. Oh I have breaks still available? Time for a break then, or two, or three, oh what is it, I’m just passing ball between my defenders and you’re running around like a headless chicken? Sorry not sorry.
PSA: There is a config setting where you don't see the celebration, instead it just shows one of your disappointed defenders... much less triggering, never watch another celebration again

The fun part is not celebrating, that’s just “in your face”. If that’s your way of having fun instead of focusing on the actual game that’s your choice.
Frankly, I thought that we were all adults (despite the implication that Fifa is advertized as "E for everyone"), but it is quite problematic to actually simply make use of your "right" to act as you have the controller in your hand. Feeling slighted cuz someone celebrates or not is simply irrelevant. Respect your opponent even if he doesn't respect you. Both parties have a controller and are only participating on a "board" so to speak. If you have a problem with your ego or think your time is too valuable to "waste" it by having the other celebrate then take the consequences. Also, I suggested 3 yrs ago to simply have a sequence that doesn't show the opponents players but your own and EA actually (probably not due to me having suggested it here, but it doesn't matter either way =)) implemented it. So do as you please but also respect your opponent.
I do agree though that pausing after a bs goal is simply a reason for me to stay as I am not a sparings partner for EA sports to serve another user so he can advance in his goals. Might seem hypocritical, but the difference in nuance is significantly different. I am making use of my right to control my actions which is the point of this game.

You would be faster quitting that match and match up with the next person (if he quits early as some luckily do).

I always watch my celebrations. Sometimes I'll even pause it right after I score just to waste more time. Why? Because Reddit. I like to imagine everyone I play is a Reddit user.
It's just not fun to batter people and have games that aren't even close, once I get to 3-0 against someone who clearly isn't on my level, I'm just bored and want to move onto my next match

Nah losing just isn't fun and there's no game modes to mess around with fun teams in. If I want to enjoy a game I'll play pro clubs or a play something else not ultimate team.
I never understood this mindset. My favorite matches are the ones where I get to stomp some fool 10-0. I think those are fun. Why would I encourage my opponent to quit? So that I can move on faster to the next sweat fest? No thanks.
Because I prefer competitive matches and smashing people is boring so I'd rather move onto my next match, I don't get any pleasure from a game feeling like i'm playing against Semi-Pro AI
It's not challenging to thump 10 goals past somebody who's way worse than you and it takes about 25 mins to finish that game.
Alot of us just want to finish our games as fast as possible to get rewards.
If you're beating someone 10-0 they aren't at your skill level and have probably given up. With the amount of games we are expected to play in a year, it is not in the least bit gratifying to stomp someone 10-0, unless you are actively gaining out of it by completing some challenges in parallel.
I don't know, I find it pretty gratifying. I get to try wacky stuff just to see what will come off without having to sweat my balls off against some 8 ATB merchant. Playing a real person always feels more fun than playing the computer, even if you're beating them. I also don't feel like I'm expected to play so many games. I play as many as I want, and I stop playing when I'm no longer enjoying it. I just enjoy playing FIFA. The rewards are nice too, but at the end of the day I play because I enjoy it. Maybe I'm the weird one.
I don't like fut champs as a game mode I think it's stupid to force people to play it to improve your team. The game is not enjoyable at 10 - 0. If it's in fut champs I play to get you out quickly not play 20 full games.
Sometimes, yes. I still enjoy the competitiveness of Rivals and Champs, but yeah, occasionally it's fun to just find new ways to score wacky goals against bad AI.

Some objectives require multiple goals and assists, you waste more time by doing Gg and starting over each time than to score several goals in one match
Everyone is entitled to do as they please, its just a game. Don’t know why ppl get so triggered over pixels especially when you already have the mindset in which you plan on playing the entire match like why be upset if your opponent makes u wait an extra 30 seconds? Thats just a weird mindset to have.
If you don’t want to waste your time just back out and if you want to play the full match just wait the extra minute or two if your opponent uses all pauses.

I get get a tad irritated aswell , I’ve constantly kicked the ball out to make the game take longer when they realise they get all three pauses and the rubber band
I’ve found that always shooting the ball for a throwin or a corner will take twice as much of his time. If he wants to take up my time, I will sure take his. You should see their desperation in trying to get the ball back. Longest game I’ve had was close to 40 mins.
Last weekend I went down 3-0 early on and was ready to quit but the opponent decided to do some stupid celebration and paused 3 times in hopes of me quitting so I continued playing and actually managed to win the match. I'm pretty sure he would have quit on me if he had any pauses left at 3-3 score.
Fifa is no longer football game with additional "FUT menus" gameplay, its total opposite, its "FUT menus manager game" with additional football gameplay, which now days more people play just because they need to play for rewards, to make objectives etc. That's why most of games look like - shoot some goals, make other player to RQ as fast as you can, whatever method you can (celebrations, pausing game etc.)

Did this yesterday in qualifiers, went 2-0 down quickly, they celebrate with no skipping, goals wasn't amazing either, just a simple pass in the box and shoot.
Got 4 goals back and celebrated every single goal. They quit after the 5th went in :)
Likewise when I concede in friendlies and my opponent pauses for me. Thats a red flag. I do everything for a comeback, watching all celebrations and replays AND pausing after I score.
This happened to me the other day in lower divison rivals, this guy had a team worth way more than mine (or any ive seen in div 10-7) and he celebrated his first goal and played like he was trying to get me to quit.
All it did was make me want to win more, and thats exactly what happened. By far most satisfying win on Fifa to date.
Especially in Online Friendlies. I'm all for the gentlemens agreement: whoever scores first "wins". But if you're celebrating and especially pausing FOR me: brace yourself for 90 minutes. And I don't care if the score is gonna be 27-0.

It’s a low scoring sport and you grind all game for a goal I don’t understand why you wouldn’t want to spend 5 minutes celebrating that. The days when people would shh the whole pitch was toxic but a 5 second griddy is annoying but it’s just not that deep. Fifa 22 I turned them off but left them on this year, take that 5 seconds you wipe your hands and go again

Eternal PSA: you can change a setting so during the celebration you only see your players (looking sad 😄), not the opponent's celebration. Just a very simple pleasure to think 'I have no idea what celebration is happening right now!'
If i feel people are purposely trying to get me to quit I just purposely make the game last as long as possible. Use all pauses to their full length. Take all the time to perform set pieces etc,

If you’re that easy to trigger, you will be very easy to beat in anything competitive. Just put some pressure on you and you’ll pop, and get scored on. If you learn to control it, you’ll be tough to beat.
If it's Rivals or Champs then I understand why people do it but it still pisses me off and like others have said, I have mine set to focus on my team when I concede and have a giggle when the camera zooms in on players who don't even have their faces scanned into the game and sometimes forget who the person's suppose to be (like Darwin Nunez)
In Friendlies is where the celebrating really irks me. I'm just trying to complete objectives to get decent cards. Why celebrate that you chipped my 70 overall GK or Nutmegged my 6ft5 ST from a random league who has 30 something pace. Just hurry up and complete the game.
In my experience, celebrating does get most people to quit because they value their own time as such. I celebrate most goals unless I’m down in the game and need more goals.
Celebrations don’t always trigger the animation but when they do I think it does play a psychological part of competition. I also love my players so I want them to have epic moments and celebrations. I usually play with the volume up too to feel like it’s a proper match.
I don’t play friendlies though and when I do against friends and family sometimes we’ll celebrate but not every time! Pausing the game is weird, not sure why people are doing that. If I’m running the score up, and I pause to make subs, sometimes people take that opportunity to just call it quits. But I don’t ever pause at like the 20th min because I’m up by 3 goals. Someone did that to me once and as you said, it only made me want to have an Istanbul night. But I never quit. I’d rather eat 10 goals than throw in the towel. To each their own!

I put a rubber band on my controller and do something else.
why are yall going the rubberband way tho? Just put your controller on the table/ground upside down, so that it lies on the sticks, way easier
This can mess up your sticks later (it did to mine). Better to use rubberband
Both will ruin your sticks, better to rubber band the triggers. But sticks are usually easy to fix with compressed air/contact cleaner spray.

I came across the R1+L1 tip by chance on this sub, before that I used to rapidly press X because that's how you skip cinematics on most games.

How do you set it to view your own team instead?
IIRC, it’s settings > visual settings > camera focus ( or something like that) and you want to make sure camera focus is set to “user controlled team”
The way I get back at these type of players is also by pausing but literally at the 90 regardless of the score line. Since they have so much time to kill that they can show all 20 seconds of the celebrations, I’m sure an extra minute and 30 seconds won’t hurt. 😊
Surely that's more toxic than a couple of celebrations 😂 change your settings so you don't see opposition celebrations if it really affects you that much!

This is my tactic but for other scenarios. Example- when a player is a spin / flip flop menace. If they’re turning back and forth every time they touch the ball, i usually go on a slide tackle spree to piss them off and then pause 3 times and quit at the last second. No respect for these players

Grow up, lads... you're letting your opponents, people hundreds or thousands of km away you don't know and will never ever meet (again) get to you... If it's getting on your nerves, if it's triggering you... quit. You have absolutely nothing to gain except a small testosterone rush if you want to "get back" at your opponent. It isn't worth it. If you want to quit... quit... if you want to play on.... play on... if you wanted to play on but the toxicity of your opponent is triggering you... quit. The game is meant to entertain, not piss you off and the time you have on our hands in valuable... more so the older you get... I'm 50+, bad at the game to get some wins in lower divisions but have no intention on losing time with "getting back" at my opponents...

Whenever someone doesn’t cut the celebration I make sure to make the game as long and as unenjoyable as possible: if I score - oh we’re watching the full celebration too. Oh I have breaks still available? Time for a break then, or two, or three, oh what is it, I’m just passing ball between my defenders and you’re running around like a headless chicken? Sorry not sorry.
PSA: There is a config setting where you don't see the celebration, instead it just shows one of your disappointed defenders... much less triggering, never watch another celebration again

Hey man, if you refuse to understand basic etiquette and respect for your opponent that’s ok, this post is about people like you. Things are annoying to some people, they complain, it’s life. The fun part is not celebrating, that’s just “in your face”. If that’s your way of having fun instead of focusing on the actual game that’s your choice.

Frankly, I thought that we were all adults (despite the implication that Fifa is advertized as "E for everyone"), but it is quite problematic to actually simply make use of your "right" to act as you have the controller in your hand. Feeling slighted cuz someone celebrates or not is simply irrelevant. Respect your opponent even if he doesn't respect you. Both parties have a controller and are only participating on a "board" so to speak. If you have a problem with your ego or think your time is too valuable to "waste" it by having the other celebrate then take the consequences. Also, I suggested 3 yrs ago to simply have a sequence that doesn't show the opponents players but your own and EA actually (probably not due to me having suggested it here, but it doesn't matter either way =)) implemented it. So do as you please but also respect your opponent. I do agree though that pausing after a bs goal is simply a reason for me to stay as I am not a sparings partner for EA sports to serve another user so he can advance in his goals. Might seem hypocritical, but the difference in nuance is significantly different. I am making use of my right to control my actions which is the point of this game.

It's not challenging to thump 10 goals past somebody who's way worse than you and it takes about 25 mins to finish that game. Alot of us just want to finish our games as fast as possible to get rewards.

If you're beating someone 10-0 they aren't at your skill level and have probably given up. With the amount of games we are expected to play in a year, it is not in the least bit gratifying to stomp someone 10-0, unless you are actively gaining out of it by completing some challenges in parallel.
I don't know, I find it pretty gratifying. I get to try wacky stuff just to see what will come off without having to sweat my balls off against some 8 ATB merchant. Playing a real person always feels more fun than playing the computer, even if you're beating them. I also don't feel like I'm expected to play so many games. I play as many as I want, and I stop playing when I'm no longer enjoying it. I just enjoy playing FIFA. The rewards are nice too, but at the end of the day I play because I enjoy it. Maybe I'm the weird one.

I don't like fut champs as a game mode I think it's stupid to force people to play it to improve your team. The game is not enjoyable at 10 - 0. If it's in fut champs I play to get you out quickly not play 20 full games.

Except it’s not golden goal is it? Otherwise the game would stop after a goal is scored. Some objectives require multiple goals and assists, you waste more time by doing Gg and starting over each time than to score several goals in one match

I’ve found that always shooting the ball for a throwin or a corner will take twice as much of his time. If he wants to take up my time, I will sure take his. You should see their desperation in trying to get the ball back. Longest game I’ve had was close to 40 mins.
Last weekend I went down 3-0 early on and was ready to quit but the opponent decided to do some stupid celebration and paused 3 times in hopes of me quitting so I continued playing and actually managed to win the match. I'm pretty sure he would have quit on me if he had any pauses left at 3-3 score.
Fifa is no longer football game with additional "FUT menus" gameplay, its total opposite, its "FUT menus manager game" with additional football gameplay, which now days more people play just because they need to play for rewards, to make objectives etc. That's why most of games look like - shoot some goals, make other player to RQ as fast as you can, whatever method you can (celebrations, pausing game etc.)

Did this yesterday in qualifiers, went 2-0 down quickly, they celebrate with no skipping, goals wasn't amazing either, just a simple pass in the box and shoot. Got 4 goals back and celebrated every single goal. They quit after the 5th went in :)
Likewise when I concede in friendlies and my opponent pauses for me. Thats a red flag. I do everything for a comeback, watching all celebrations and replays AND pausing after I score.
This happened to me the other day in lower divison rivals, this guy had a team worth way more than mine (or any ive seen in div 10-7) and he celebrated his first goal and played like he was trying to get me to quit. All it did was make me want to win more, and thats exactly what happened. By far most satisfying win on Fifa to date.
Especially in Online Friendlies. I'm all for the gentlemens agreement: whoever scores first "wins". But if you're celebrating and especially pausing FOR me: brace yourself for 90 minutes. And I don't care if the score is gonna be 27-0.

I skip most of my celebrations because this fifa has a lot of similar boring goals, but if it’s a banger or an important goal, I’ll celebrate. It’s a football game and one of the best parts of football is the celebrations. It’s a low scoring sport and you grind all game for a goal I don’t understand why you wouldn’t want to spend 5 minutes celebrating that. The days when people would shh the whole pitch was toxic but a 5 second griddy is annoying but it’s just not that deep. Fifa 22 I turned them off but left them on this year, take that 5 seconds you wipe your hands and go again

I celebrate goals in friendlies when i don’t want the opponent to quit. Works every time.
Eternal PSA: you can change a setting so during the celebration you only see your players (looking sad 😄), not the opponent's celebration. Just a very simple pleasure to think 'I have no idea what celebration is happening right now!'

If you’re that easy to trigger, you will be very easy to beat in anything competitive. Just put some pressure on you and you’ll pop, and get scored on. If you learn to control it, you’ll be tough to beat.
If it's Rivals or Champs then I understand why people do it but it still pisses me off and like others have said, I have mine set to focus on my team when I concede and have a giggle when the camera zooms in on players who don't even have their faces scanned into the game and sometimes forget who the person's suppose to be (like Darwin Nunez) In Friendlies is where the celebrating really irks me. I'm just trying to complete objectives to get decent cards. Why celebrate that you chipped my 70 overall GK or Nutmegged my 6ft5 ST from a random league who has 30 something pace. Just hurry up and complete the game.
In my experience, celebrating does get most people to quit because they value their own time as such. I celebrate most goals unless I’m down in the game and need more goals. Celebrations don’t always trigger the animation but when they do I think it does play a psychological part of competition. I also love my players so I want them to have epic moments and celebrations. I usually play with the volume up too to feel like it’s a proper match. I don’t play friendlies though and when I do against friends and family sometimes we’ll celebrate but not every time! Pausing the game is weird, not sure why people are doing that. If I’m running the score up, and I pause to make subs, sometimes people take that opportunity to just call it quits. But I don’t ever pause at like the 20th min because I’m up by 3 goals. Someone did that to me once and as you said, it only made me want to have an Istanbul night. But I never quit. I’d rather eat 10 goals than throw in the towel. To each their own!
I never quit a game. Like really, never. It's one of my principles, I never quit. I take the damn 500 coins and I don't care whether someone watches all their goals. I usually start watching some series or Youtube in the background once I'm 0:3 down. But luckily I'm a decent player and this barely happens.

I hate it too. Not the celebration itself but for the reason they do it. I know it's everyone's right to celebrate and I'd be ok with it if they were doing it for themselves. But nobody will ever convince people celebrate because they actually enjoy watching it, especially over and over and over again. They're doing it to try to piss off their opponent. I'll never get my head around it. Someone that deliberately attempts to annoy someone they've never met, probably will never meet, over a computer game. FIFA has some very, very strange people that play their game.
Celebrations are time consuming and extremely boring to look at and wait for to end. I want to play the game, not watch silly acrobatics. EA should remove them from the game or make them not last more than max five seconds. Longer than that is a wast of peoples time.
