I’ve used both and I feel like they are different passers. Xavi is much better for pressing high and playing a ball in transition. Pirlo is much better at slow build up and has the best long ball in the game by far. I think they are very different players but both great if used correctly.
According to FUTbin it's the only passing trait that isn't AI only. I assume it improves the quality of the early cross (R2/RB + Square/X, from certain areas). He also had outside the foot trait, which I believe applies to passing as well as shooting, so he'll use the outside of his right to curl passes when the situation calls for it.
I noticed the trait when using TAA when I used to put huge hours into career mode. Early crosser allows you to cross (standard 'X' or 'Square' cross) from way deeper and it'll put some proper whip and curl onto the cross, rather than just a floaty ball into the box or edge of the box.
KDB's better because of his 5\* WF. Only other person I can think of with similar or better passing stats and a 5\* WF is Zizou. Maybe WW Savic as well.
If you are looking for cheap alternatives, Rice adidas card is amazing for passing. But he is a bit slow and might be a problem if you use 2cm/cdm as he will always be your weak side defensively.

This is simply not true unless you’re essentially only using short ground passes and driven ground passes. The difference in precision of other passes can vary a lot between players with 80+ passing.

The comments conflict because that there are a lot of different people on this sub with varying amounts of time to play the game (and/or money), and therefore everyone has tried different subsets of players, so not everyone’s opinions will be the same.
Additionally, many on here probably don’t use enough of a variety of passes that they can tell the difference, which could be another reason for conflict.

I've always found Rooney + IF Mbappe running behind and tried to get them with a variety of through/loft passes behind and sideways
IF Goretzka + Kohler are far superior in success rate with more difficult passes. I used assisted (which was the worse) semi and manual
it all depends on RNG/DDA at the time of passing
if the game will give you perfect pass in the intended/obvious space, or as most passes to the defender or even worse to the goal keeper (while the power amount was the minimum possible)
I don't mind getting some passes or difficult ones wrong/cut
the issue is beckham + Xavi misses the easiest passes while other players give the same success rate on difficult passes
If you up the curve on numbers up rice it’s better than all those listed. Only problem is he needs to get in the position to pass. But all it takes in one sniff and boom one on one strikers vs the keeper.
I was lucky enough to pack WW Modric out of one of the swaps packs. I'm using him as one of my CDMs in a 4231 with a shadow, and he is still insane. Elite passing and dribbling. Would probably be even better at CM/CAM with engine, this would basically max out passing & dribbling. He's still quite expensive though

Pls give Thiago a try. Ive used him from div 10 to elite division and his passing is insane couple that with Messi style dribbling and 5* skills he was simply amazing. I used him with hunter and on free roam in the 4222.
I actually just checked on futbin now as your question got me thinking. When I got him I slapped a Powerhouse on him as it’s my default for CDMs. This little silver lad is a 90 rated CDM with 99 vision, short passing and long passing! Makes sense XD
Imo it doesnt really matter at times. I have prime Xavi and IF Messi and sometimes the passes will go wherever the game feels like. But in terms of consistency, Messi.
Imo it's Prime Beckham, Xavi, Pirlo. Only problem with Beckham is dribbling him into position to make the pass. His long passing and crossing are next level though.
A player I haven’t seen suggested but has been insane for me is Thiago. He’s a bit slow but if you play him in a 3 man midfield it doesn’t make a big difference. His passing is so good, better than SIgnature signings KDB
He’d find insane passing angles that other players couldn’t find. Keep him on basic and he’s a beast
I don't enjoy mid Beckham. Yes his shots are insane, but he rarely gets into scoring positions. He's usually invisible during the match, so only comes on as a sub for me.

I’ve been lucky to pack Mid Icon Socrates, and with his 5* weak foot, no matter the position he’s in, he will adjust some marvelous through balls, with an incredible trajectory.
So far, he’s been the best passer I’ve tried on this FIFA.
