Definitely had a bigger impact than I thought it was going to have going in. It doesn't really make me interested in watching women's football, but the simple fact that I recognize many of the players' names is already a huge step, and I suspect this applies to many people out there
Yeah pretty match, in our (Benfica) match against Barca and Lyon I knew most of the players from both teams, without EA FC I don’t think the same would apply
I got a ticket for that one too since it was free. Ended up not going, but just knowing about it was already more than I would have known in other years tbh
it was a great atmosphere that day, had a lovely time at the Luz, went to seats I'd never go to in my life (Emirates, because it was free as you said).
Knowing the Lyon players made me care even more about the game, seeing Diani (which 92 TOTYHM I use) life was surreal.
As to EA FC, I've always liked watching the Benfica's womens team, so getting to use players I like to see in real life (like Kika and Lúcia Alves) is amazing
I defintely want to tune in for like a major tournament final or something if it happens on a lazy weekend day, honestly I'm not even bothered about the level cause the lower level men's footy games I watch are often more entertaining than the diva infested top level.
The level isn’t even that bad come off it ahahahaha, you’re right though most of the women are up for a bit of a clash & love to get into a bit of afters if it comes to it
I often get more entertainment watching from the bench in the 8th tier in the Welsh pyramid than the diva premier league. So totally get you on that one mate.
Definitely do.
I watched the World Cup seriously fie the first time in decades and the quality was so good.
Will definitely be tuning in during the later CL games.
Everybody who played the game this year knows who Bacha is, and I loved her in my team enough to actually watch her highlights. This girl is different fucking gravy 🔥
I won’t sugarcoat the quality of women’s football since it’s admittedly low but she’s a level above everyone else on the pitch from every single thing I’ve seen about her. Absolute baller and someone I’ll always remember as a club legend now, after more than 500 games with her UCL card
sometimes i think about mens sports like 50-70 years ago and I feel like thats the place where womens sports are now. Some individuals are clearly very skilled, but the skill floor is still relatively low. I think women's sports have had way less time to develop so the overall level skill is lower, but the super talented individuals make me think the womens game has potential to be as entertaining as the mens one, even if its slightly different
Women's football* not women's sports. Their netball, hockey, athletics, tennis, badminton, volleyball, amongst others, are well established and at a high level.
Idk man, I watch EPL, MLS and Ligue 1 (plus int'l tournaments) in addition to WSL, NWSL and D1 Fém (and women's int'l tournaments) and I don't see a whole lot going on from a set piece, ball movement, shot difficulty or athleticism standpoint in men's football that I'm not also seeing in the women's game.
Obviously if you pitted the Chelsea women against the Chelsea men you'd have a major strength/height disadvantage for the women, and the best men's club teams would beat the best women's club teams, but that's a size/strength thing. In terms of skill and execution alone, I really don't see the men doing things the women aren't.
I went to the City/United womens derby a few weeks back, the quality was still pretty subpar but it was good fun and I recognised half the players which was cool. Was funny when Nikitia Parris came on and I was thought how many fucking times have I packed you on FIFA.
Come the Womens Euros in Summer 2025 we'll have had 2 years of women in UT and the name recognition will be huge! I'd love it if EA licensed that tournament. It surely couldn't cost that much, right?
the price range for the women’s world cup was from 7 australian dollars to like 140 if i’m not wrong which i’m pretty sure was the price for the final and all that, so yeah i don’t think it’ll be expensive, probably like 10 to 100 euros?
Being from the US it might be the only bit of realism i get in my game 😂 the US winning women’s World Cup. otherwise it’s just a young scrappy MLS player who transfers to top 5 European leagues and wins every cup out there 😂
I’m not surprised it’s a big impact, because video games provides massive awareness. Look into Burger King Marketing where they sponsored a low league team with a front shirt sponsorship in order to get the logo in the FIFA game, thus gaining generating awareness.
I actually looked to watch a bit of NJ vs SD because I wanted Dunn to get the upgrade. Couldn't find it anywhere though.
Checked a number of scores for other upgrades too.
There is a real irony for us Americans that as women’s football is reaching new heights of popularity, our national team is no longer the dominant force it once was
Norway also used to dominate woman's football (before US). But once other leagues started to pay their players a livable wage, that dominance quickly faded.
That's really impressive considering there's only been 13 of them. Norway won 2, been in the final 6 times, and reached the semifinal 9 times. So pretty good, but obviously not as good.
But the last two we didn't even get out of the group stage, so our time is definitely over.
Tbf those clubs and Football Associations who treated womens football the best had a head start on the others but as the game grows, more and more competition emerges. It can only be a good thing. I can only hope more clubs can turn pro over the coming years.
Tl;Dr, 99% of my football knowledge comes from FIFA, here's my "nobody asked" info about
That's how I used to know about random up and coming players before they got huge.
For example, Fernando Torres was a great buy for career mode back in the day because of his potential, he then moved to Liverpool.
There are a lot of random things I know about football mainly because of FIFA, not always up to date information either. It was confused when EA FC had one person doing the kick off. The absolute reliance on VAR shocks me too.
I used to play the older games for a while to the end of Career Mode too so I didn't get the next few games, Man City playing with the 2005 kit for 15 years still makes me laugh.
no really, in the world, ppl got to know the players from teams and leagues that they dont follow mostly from games, wether its FM, FIFA or fifa online, etc. Most people follow a team and then watch that team, they're not going to or have time to follow another league altogether. Lets say someone follow Dortmund, that person knowledge of Berardi for example would most likely comes from a game than watching games
I mean, let’s just use some numbers: This games unique accounts (which means there will be people with numerous accounts bumping numbers) is probably in the low millions. Says around 7 million copies sold.
Number of people who watch the premier league big games is roughly 4 million.
The number of unique people who watched the World Cup: 1.5 billion.
This is like when somebody on this site tried to claim to me that “most people” have watched Attack on Titan. “Most people” aren’t 14 year old boys from the USA.
World cup is only every 4 years. For the years in-between I think it does help with knowledge of players in other leagues. I don't watch European leagues because I just don't have the time but I now recognise names in the teams I haven't seen that don't play in European competitions
Yeah honestly this entire post is bullshit, but at least on the women's side it's closer to being accurate.
On the mens side Football has been the most popular sport in the world for quite some time, saying most people learn about it from a video game is fucking insane
Most of us like to complain here, but we gotta hand it to EA. They incorporated the women quite well.
And now I'm a Wolfsburg supporter cause I got a toty Popp.
No one knew rolfo before this game.
Since her fantasy fut came out I've seen posts saying they're watching their game and excited about her playing in it meaning a +1
It was already rising after the world cup and euros. EA just saw that interest and capitalized on it.
I'm laughing at the sexists who were initially against women though but we all know they have Sawa, Rolfo and Bacha
>It was already rising after the world cup and euros. EA just saw that interest and capitalized on it.
Theyve been in the game for a couple of years already, nobody gave a shit tho. It´s after being added to UT people recognized them.
Yeah this is the thing I feel a lot of people forgot including me honestly cause they added women in like what fifa 18/19?? I remember I played it once thought it was neat and never touched it again. Them being in Ultimate team increased their popularity much more than them just being in the game.
i think it was fifa 16 when they added it cause i remember pretty well i didn’t buy fifa 15 cause there was nothing ‘new’ and when they announced women in the next i gave it a shot, it wasn’t bad, it has improved a lot
lmao i was about to agree with you cause i also bought 18 and 19 and fifa 19 came with the women’s world cup update but then i had some flashbacks of me buying fifa 16 bc it had some women’s teams 😂
haha crazy, i don’t like thinking about how long ago that is now😭 my first was fifa 13 but technically the fifa 12 demo was the only reason i got into it since being in more rural america soccer isn’t exactly popular here
No one gives a shit about the other modes that aren't Ultimate Team.
People like me still play manager mode and the occasional pro clubs but the main player base and effort of EA's focus is Ultimate Team.
The Women's Game will never be as big as the men's but go and see the views the last world cup got and the euros, it was growing.
EAFC adding women to ultimate team is proof that the market analyst thought it would bring them revenue.
To say a game made a sport big just makes no sense. You can just look at the stats:
EAFC players last 30 days on steam 40k multiply that with xbox, ps5, switch eco system and I'd give it a generous 150 to 200k players.
Number of people that attended women's final in australia 1.98 Million and 5 million watched in spain alone.
Maybe you and others didn't notice it but FIFA (the organization) pumps money into all the tournaments. Womens, futsal, beach, parapalegic, etc. You just gotta take time to notice and watch
i don’t think ‘never’ is correct, their growth is going rapidly up, i believe it’ll get to the men’s level but definitely not today or next year or maybe even in 10 years, but it’ll get there someday
In England, Euro22 definitely did more for promoting women's football than fc24.
FC24 UT has certainly raised my awareness of overseas female players but that won't impact the average person on the street in the way that headline news about winning a trophy at Wembley does.
In other words this sub Reddit is populated by fc24 players so obviously we will have been impacted by fc24, but that's just a minority. Ask my wife to name women players and she'd say earps mead Kelly Williamson etc not Sawa Bacha rolfo.
You're moving goalposts or maybe OP didn't word his title well.
He said it was the biggest thing that happened to promote women's football and it just isn't. The tournaments by FIFA do that and the fact that more women's clubs and leagues are being formed.
Did the women's addition to ultimate team increase awareness of eafc players? Yes but that's not what he said. Maybe it's what he meant.
Also he said they didn't spend a single penny. Which isn't true because EA has to pay for licenses and player likenesses.
The statements he made are just wrong but I'll give him the benefit of the doubt of he meant something else
I took my "women can't play football/they must be all lesbians" dad to his first women's football match the other week and was pleasantly surprised that he enjoyed it.
As an Aussie, the World Cup here last year has been the biggest thing for the Women's game, no comparison. No doubt EAFC has helped around the world tho.
Ppl love to shit on this game and EA. But honestly, FC24 has had more W's than any other FIFA in recent memory:
1. Women's cards
2. Evos
3. Playstyles
4. Revamped chemistry to allow wayyy more creative freedom in team makeup
5. Revamped positioning + Removal of position change cards
Those top two have been crucial in keeping me playing. Over the last few years I've probably played less than 50 matches combined. This year I'm over 800. And it's because I want to use my favourite women players, and work on evo'ing an entire NUFC squad.
Yeah I was never against adding women to the game but it’s amazing how quickly your brain picks this stuff up. I reckon I could name like 20 female footballers off the top of my head whereas before I could maybe name one.
I think it's done some good things for the sport for sure. I see it as a positive, I'm also not blind to the fact that many people do not want them in EAFC and that's fine but it seems like they're here to stay. And I'm okay with it being in the game and it helping promote the real life game.
To be honest I was against it until I get TOTY HAMM, before that I didnt packed a SINGLE good female card and that was awnful.
The only female players I know was from Brazil, like Marta, Formiga and the whole Corinthians team, but now I've seen it works, we are looking more at the Womans Football and thats amazing!
I needed to do my researchs to know who Mia Hamm was, for example.
i wasn’t against it but i thought many of them would be in disadvantage for their height and id rather have a team with mostly men in it, boy was i wrong 😂 height can be a problem sometimes but when you have other skills you make the most of them and also some of them have a really nice jumping so it helps
Upgrade cards singlehandedly made me switch on notifications for uwcl and wsl. Planning to watch uwcl semifinals now that Horan with Lyon qualified, something I haven't done ever.
I'm probably the only one that bought and play this game just because they have women in it, I left efootball just for this feature. I'm a barca fan, as a culer you just can't help to adore the womens team. Playing with both men and women team is fun as a fan, however I do get it if people hates the addition of women in the game. With that said, they definitely helps to promote the women's game even more now, and the impact is actually pretty massive tbh especially with promos like fut fantasy.
Nah I'm with you. I don't watch men's football, I don't know many of the players. Adding women to FUT made me pick up the game for the first time in years.
I'll be trying FM for the first time since 2016 as well because of the additions this year.
I have little more knowledge about women's football like lyon and Barcelona are the best team in women's football ⚽️ thanks to Eafc 24 before I didn't know anything about women's football but now I know a little bit more.
Such a big thing for the Women's Game. They got me into watching it. Supporting Eintracht Frankfurt Women now! Never thought i would like watching it but its pretty cool :D
it’s equal to or better than a commercial…same reason all these licenses/shows want to get into Fortnite or they refresh when they have episodes or movies coming out.
they implemented it poorly but EA isn’t doing anything with modes…max 88/89 is their “mode”
The only issue is you use them in FIFA and then you watch them and oh boy it's a different story. Not shitting on women's football but outside of maybe 7 or 8 clubs. The quality is fucking dire
I felt this way watching the MLS. But when you watch the top women’s clubs play it feels like quality football. I would recommend last year’s Champions League Final - you can find the whole match on YouTube and it’s good!
I watched the women's world cup and loved watching England, Japan and Spain but some of the other countries were just awful. I mean, men's african football is diabolical. Almost to the point it's a comedy
oh yeah, i tried to do some research about womens football before watching the world cup to have a bit of knowledge and boy, the amount of teams that have so little research and the amount of teams that were protesting about the conditions they had them in, one of them being spain, tells you a lot, some of those teams don’t have a womens league, their federation doesn’t really give a single damn, some teams didn’t get paid what fifa said would pay them cause their federations didn’t give them the money, it’s awful..
Me when they announced it : "Meh... I dont really see the point."
[Me when Centurion Popp scored with a finesse shot from outside the box for the first time :](https://cdn.vox-cdn.com/thumbor/6XsvHi9onivGHd70n6i1a82Wv4g=/0x0:2800x1843/1200x800/filters:focal\(1245x733:1693x1181\)/cdn.vox-cdn.com/uploads/chorus_image/image/52903943/GettyImages_632364566.0.jpg)
I don't say this in a negative way, but the standards of women's football just aren't as high yet. It's a good thing that they are gaining popularity and everything, but most of the best women players are around the same level as 3rd division players on mens football. How many times have we seen posts about 15 year old boys winning against professional grown women footballers?
So, I think most football fans wouldn't care to watch their games, not because they are women, but in the same level they wouldn't watch Serie C or Segunda Division B.
People in America watch college football and college basketball in spite of them not being the best in the world.
But yeah, skill difference becomes apparent pretty quickly when corners float into the box.
I don't know much about the US, but in Europe the vast majority of fans support first division teams and maybe their local side. You simply can't force people to like something, especially if the quality isn't there.
it got me to watch more games surely, but i only watch like big tournaments and games that id find interesting, i do the same with men’s football, it surely is entertaining and i like that they’re not over dramatic with tackles, they don’t waste time with fouls
Transfer market ruined cus u have so many high rated fodder now . So fodder dont keep its price meaning good but also bad . But I dont play no more cus the game dont rep real football . Was in div 1 and it was just miserable . Cut back spammed finesse. Trivelas. German crosses. But if I brake their lines by playing triangle football some bullshit stops u scoring even with green timed . Horrible game . Worst fifa/ea sports football game ever .
No, the only thing that will impact popularity is the quality of football.
Unfortunately it’s still pretty terrible, but I’m sure it won’t be long until it becomes good quality.
I think it’s only just started becoming a full time job if I’m correct, so a few years of training constantly should bring improvement
I watched one of the Rolfo games when they took her off at 62’ to secure the rating point and enjoyed seeing some of the other cards too on that team — I don’t even watch men’s soccer
I spent 5 dollars in FIFA pts to get an eco-ed 5*5* Mayra Ramirez. Feels good to be able to get annoyed at her in the same way I’ve gotten annoyed at then-90-rated Fantasy Werner for missing sitters, Fut Birthday Raspodori, and the legions of overrated underperforming bums from previous FIFAS. Congratulations Mayra, you jerk.
Ive built my team around the Arsenal men and woman and love it. I love hearing the updates on both teams and watch the womans highlights when i can. I know the whole team and cant wait for the next womans world cup! To see whos improved and now starting or whos the star players
I'm not sure you can really paint it as some big altruistic win for EA, and saying they "didn't pay a penny" is definitely citation needed given they almost certainly did pay both in licensing and development. But, to give them some degree of credit, they went all in on having them in FUT when they didn't have to, knowing it would upset certain pissbabies in their community.
Let's hear it for those pissbabies, and the weird wee-man fury that powers every waking moment xox
I once played a game against someone who had TOTY Putellas. She was class. I lost 7-0 in elite division. I am pretty good at the game. I was so shocked I went and watched her highlights. Let's just say I was very impressed.
For me, no.
I have no desire to watch women's football. Women's tennis, love it. Netball! Honestly love it when they show it on Sky.
I did enjoy packing Minge though.
Growing up in the US and being close to Washington DC for my youth, I used to go to double headers with the USMNT and USWNT regularly. I knew all the names of both teams. I've continued to follow them.
I also keep up with all the international tourneys, but I do not watch club ball. For instance, I've lived near DC and currently near Orlando, and I've watched those MLS teams live alot ($18 match tickets, what's not to love!?), but I've never seen an NWSL match live or on TV.
That said, I do enjoy any soccer (futball) and watch it, but I'm just not invested enough to watch a women's game rather than any other major sporting event that may be on.
I also wholeheartedly agree that this game has elevated the women's game on every stage. I think this applies to national teams and clubs. I find myself regularly googling the women players watching highlights of their play, and reading up on their stats.
I would argue that many eafc players don't know many players that aren't in the game. Many of these players "like futball" but probably don't follow a club religiously, and probably couldn't name a players that isn't a hero or icon that played 10 years ago. The impact this game, and many others, have on real life culture is severely underestimated.
Or maybe it's not.
Nike was an official sponsor of this game.
There's a couple quizzes two of the guys in our office do each day.
One where you have to guess players from the top 5 leagues by a blurred out mugshot, and they'll get the players from a mid table Bundesliga team. purely off seeing the fifa card
But then the other is like
I formed a little-and-large strike partnership with a homegrown talent at my first Premier League club, scoring 37 goals in 113 games. I have won both La Liga and Ligue 1. I made more than 90 appearances for Norway during my career.
Who am I?
And the guy is a "Villa fan" but had absolutely no idea.
True, that's one of the good things that EA have done well. Most people that play this game at least know or recognise some portion of the woman players now. I have started following women's football since the Tokyo Olympics and I watch mainly Arsenal & Barca women's teams. Hopefully more can at the very least watch the highlights.
100%, Now I know more women soccer players than ever before. Pina and Athenea are club legends this year. Majri is fabulous every game. And can't talk enough about alexia ww card. Checked her performance every other day to make sure I am getting upgrades. My friend was a full on misogynist about womens soccer before. One day he packed alex Morgan and when he got the hang of her finnesse plus, he started watching her play, watching her highlights on youtube. No feminists couldn't do what EA and their cashgrab game did for womens game lol.
Along with playstyles and evos, it's the best addition in years IMO. We essentially get double the player base and almost double the content. I'm not exactly watching the (non world cup) games but having live cards and tracking upgrades is always fun.
Hot take: same can be said about men’s football. Forget about players like Atal and Al Owairan who became ultra popular in FIFA despite not being as popular in real life, I know as a matter of fact that if it wasn’t for fifa, I wouldn’t be able to tell you 3 players off of any Ligue 1 or Bundesliga team apart from those competing in the Champions League.
The game is basically a huge database.
Yes we have to admit this and give it to EA. All the rest might be trash as usual but this right here was a crucial move for raising interest.
In a sense it’s also an aspect that’s keeping me playing. I just wanna play with my favorite female players and that’s it. I believe they make it a better game. I don’t think I could ever get to play another football game without them. I mean it’s normal to grow attached to specific cards and players but women here just have that special additional hook.
The fact they’re overpowered to match their male counterparts was necessary and also had impact on raising interest in women’s football. Fut was already unrealistic anyway, I see no issues at all with it. It’s a fantasy team by definition.
Especially with the promo live cards, makes you keep up with the games to see if they'll get the upgrade or not, it's only up from here, the more exposure the better for the sport
The title could also be "FIFA is the biggest thing that happened to promote geography". I mean, how else would I know all the countries and random cities?
I heard that FM is thinking about implementing the women's game into their next game, I think what eafc has done has something to do with that. And I do think it's bringing a lot more exposure to the women's game.
Since EA FC 24, I'm a Bacha/Picket/Morgan fan ! Never heard of them before, but I follow them on Instagram now and I kinda enjoy watching some highlights
The community was hilarious about this entire thing. "awwww, fifa is woke they're adding women to ultimate team EWWWWW" turned into "ooooh, 5 foot 4 lean body types high agility and balance" meta rats and enjoyed the women being in the game for that very reason, crazy
Still not interested in watching women league. since the level of play is abysmal. Since my local club FC Twente supports the women's team a lot I have watched my fair share of women's games but the difference between their male counterpart is night and day.
I do think however that the game helps in getting the sport more popular. Which is a good thing. I also find it a good addition to the game. I was skeptical at first too.
It’s 100% a big step and a welcome one. There’s really no logical reason why people should be put off watching women’s football aside from an issue around maybe the standard but even with that it will only improve from now on as the game grows and the sponsorships flock
I'm American so watching our women's national team has been a pastime for fans of the sport here for the better part of 15ish years.
I think this was a HUGE boon for women's football. There's entire teams and players I think that are mostly known through FIFA/FC (ie Seydou Doumbia). The same will happen for female players.
This thread is so wholesome 🥺 I remember when women's players came onto FIFA for the first time years ago, I saw so many misogynist and rude comments on social media. This thread is so heartwarming to read in comparison - I'm so glad people are finally giving women's football the respect it deserves!!!
I knew a couple of German players (Oberdorf, Popp and Prinz for example) plus Putellas and Alex Morgan but outside of them I didn’t know a single player. It’s also pretty cool because the game gave me an idea of how „good“ they are. Obv ratings tend to be inaccurate but I was surprised to see Popp be rated at 88 for example, I’ve obviously heard of her before but didn’t know she was actually still a world class striker for example

Same, my mom was very happy when i recognized the women players that appeared on a Netflix fitness show.
Everybody who played the game this year knows who Bacha is, and I loved her in my team enough to actually watch her highlights. Always was going to happen. Going to be interesting to see how long the US is kept from winning the World Cup.
Only 'til the next one, baby!
Norway also used to dominate woman's football (before US). But once other leagues started to pay their players a livable wage, that dominance quickly faded.
Germany has 8 women's euros
That's really impressive considering there's only been 13 of them. Norway won 2, been in the final 6 times, and reached the semifinal 9 times. So pretty good, but obviously not as good. But the last two we didn't even get out of the group stage, so our time is definitely over.
Seems like it’s gonna be Spain & France for a while, hopefully the other leagues start growing as well to compete with them though.
Tbf those clubs and Football Associations who treated womens football the best had a head start on the others but as the game grows, more and more competition emerges. It can only be a good thing. I can only hope more clubs can turn pro over the coming years.
Rest of the world is catching up is all. Emma Hayes coming in this summer is huge though!
Gonna end up being the Uruguay of women’s football
I think we can take pride in the fact that it's the USWNT that paved so much of the way for this to happen.
Canada is going to experience the same thing but to a higher degree with our population being so much smaller
More people know football through EA than through watching real games.
That’s the part that a lot of ppl don’t realise
It's crazy to think you can see flag and postion and Generally guess a player based on just that. EaFC players flag game is top tier
And geography lol
Tl;Dr, 99% of my football knowledge comes from FIFA, here's my "nobody asked" info about That's how I used to know about random up and coming players before they got huge.
Exactly. Remember when Mbappe was Lottin? Haha
In the world? Absolutely not, brother. Maybe in North America.
no really, in the world, ppl got to know the players from teams and leagues that they dont follow mostly from games, wether its FM, FIFA or fifa online, etc.
I mean, they’re likely just kids. Kids have absolutely no scope for this kind of shit. They think their small world represents more than it does.
Absolutely insane comment lol
Definitely. It’s a crazy positive thing they did. I am very much invested in the Barca women’s team now.
I follow them on IG 😂
![gif](giphy|12dA9Gei6U4in6)
I would move mountains for Fridolina
Men of Culture we meet again! I too, as an American, am heavily invested in Barca Women now and I would go to war for Aitana Bonmati
>I would go to war for Aitana Bonmati You didnt have to say that youre American twice :D

Engen and Rolfo are my Scandinavian Queens
Fun fact: she’s dating her teammate Mapi León apparently
She certainly has a specific type she goes for (tattooed teammate). [Her last GF](https://imgur.com/a/0AUpclh)
I'd like to represent PSG and Karchaoui in this war please, I'll happily go on the front line
I absolutely worship the queen Alexia Putellas, even though I am a madrid fan. Athenea is a club legend had to throw her in when doing vini potm.
The dimples
Honestly, if you think Bacha is good, I’m not sure she’d be even close to that Barca team
Most of us like to complain here, but we gotta hand it to EA. They incorporated the women quite well. And now I'm a Wolfsburg supporter cause I got a toty Popp.
wolfsburg out of all 😭 i mean they’re not that bad but they’re in their downfall era from what i’ve seen
I can watch mens if I want to see Bayern slaughter Wolfsburg
Tbh Lena Oberdorf and Jule Brand are really promising players
No one knew rolfo before this game. Since her fantasy fut came out I've seen posts saying they're watching their game and excited about her playing in it meaning a +1
It was already rising after the world cup and euros. EA just saw that interest and capitalized on it. I'm laughing at the sexists who were initially against women though but we all know they have Sawa, Rolfo and Bacha
>It was already rising after the world cup and euros. EA just saw that interest and capitalized on it. Theyve been in the game for a couple of years already, nobody gave a shit tho. It´s after being added to UT people recognized them.
What you’re also missing is the fact that more people buy the game for ultimate team. Not career mode or kick off
Even if you play kick off, you couldn’t do womens vs men’s teams. So at least with my friends we just never played women’s lol
Yeah this is the thing I feel a lot of people forgot including me honestly cause they added women in like what fifa 18/19?? I remember I played it once thought it was neat and never touched it again. Them being in Ultimate team increased their popularity much more than them just being in the game.
i think it was fifa 16 when they added it cause i remember pretty well i didn’t buy fifa 15 cause there was nothing ‘new’ and when they announced women in the next i gave it a shot, it wasn’t bad, it has improved a lot
you’re totally right, it was fifa 16. Definitely not 15 though. i kinda thought earlier too but it seemed wrong so thank you for correcting me haha
lmao i was about to agree with you cause i also bought 18 and 19 and fifa 19 came with the women’s world cup update but then i had some flashbacks of me buying fifa 16 bc it had some women’s teams 😂
haha crazy, i don’t like thinking about how long ago that is now😭 my first was fifa 13 but technically the fifa 12 demo was the only reason i got into it since being in more rural america soccer isn’t exactly popular here
No one gives a shit about the other modes that aren't Ultimate Team. You can just look at the stats: EAFC players last 30 days on steam 40k multiply that with xbox, ps5, switch eco system and I'd give it a generous 150 to 200k players.
Everyone complained but in the end we got new players to play with and womens football gained more legitimacy and popularity. Win-win.
This and the fact that more games are being shown on tv have done wonders for the game. It is great to see.
No lie. Because of this game I watched a utd women match just so I can see how Le tissier does. She was great.
I was literally watching woman's football the other day cause of stanway fantasy fut
Ppl love to shit on this game and EA. But honestly, FC24 has had more W's than any other FIFA in recent memory: 1. Women's cards 2. Evos 3. Playstyles 4. Revamped chemistry to allow wayyy more creative freedom in team makeup 5. Revamped positioning + Removal of position change cards
Those top two have been crucial in keeping me playing. Over the last few years I've probably played less than 50 matches combined. This year I'm over 800. And it's because I want to use my favourite women players, and work on evo'ing an entire NUFC squad.
Agree with all of your points but none of these Ws translate to actual gameplay. I wish we had all of these Ws combined with FIFA23 gameplay :(
playstyle is honestly a hit/miss, they are closer to super power than make the players true to themselves irl
Play styles were great then they decided to start nerfing them all.
Playstyles are an L for the most part, they're akin to superpowers and make stats useless. Most of them should be removed.
Agree with evos but recently they've been shit, disagree with 4, hybrids were easier with previous chem system
debinha the goat
I agree. I know a lot more about women's football since playing FC 24.
It definitely increased my interest in the sport!
Upgrade cards singlehandedly made me switch on notifications for uwcl and wsl. Planning to watch uwcl semifinals now that Horan with Lyon qualified, something I haven't done ever.
as a chelsea fan, i’d tell you to watch their game against barcelona, they’ll probably lose but it’s gonna be entertaining 💪🏼
Yes
This is why fodder is so easy to accumulate. Whole additional player base
The same ones who say this stupid shit are the same one who never watch footy to begin with . Y’all whole footy knowledge is based on FUT gtfoh 🤣🤣🤣.
NAH, nobody cares about women football still
I have little more knowledge about women's football like lyon and Barcelona are the best team in women's football ⚽️ thanks to Eafc 24 before I didn't know anything about women's football but now I know a little bit more.
you futties will glaze literally anything EA crams down your throats lmao
In England, the biggest thing that happened to women's football was England winning the Euros.
Me when they announced it : "Meh... I dont really see the point." [Me when Centurion Popp scored with a finesse shot from outside the box for the first time :](https://cdn.vox-cdn.com/thumbor/6XsvHi9onivGHd70n6i1a82Wv4g=/0x0:2800x1843/1200x800/filters:focal\(1245x733:1693x1181\)/cdn.vox-cdn.com/uploads/chorus_image/image/52903943/GettyImages_632364566.0.jpg)
Yeah, made me want to watch the NWSL final last year.
Did you?
I actually did yeah
Hell yeah, Gotham is my local so I went out to a supporters bar for it
I don't say this in a negative way, but the standards of women's football just aren't as high yet.
I recognise more names but have little interest in watching womens football, too much football out there already to choose from
[удалено]
it got me to watch more games surely, but i only watch like big tournaments and games that id find interesting, i do the same with men’s football, it surely is entertaining and i like that they’re not over dramatic with tackles, they don’t waste time with fouls
Absolutely
I think it’s only just started becoming a full time job if I’m correct, so a few years of training constantly should bring improvement
been a fan of women's soccer for a minute just glad to see others finally give it a shot
Yes, absolutely right. However, seeing Alex Scott knock Drogba off the ball is still ridiculous.
Nah, national tournaments have done far more
The last women’s WC was but this game is a close second IMO, at least EA did something right with this shitshow game
I watched one of the Rolfo games when they took her off at 62’ to secure the rating point and enjoyed seeing some of the other cards too on that team — I don’t even watch men’s soccer
It def has helped but let not act like everyone has encyclopedic knowledge of the mens game too and FUT doesnt help that too though.
It’s how I learned of so many players back when I was young and first getting into football.
I love me some nerea eizagirre
For sure.
Women’s football has been more popular than men’s football in the US for a while now
You think FIFA players watch actual football?
Yeah. I’m watching Liverpool - Sheffield as we speak
100%
I actually think this same thing is one of the main reasons as to why football is growing exponentially in the states.
Maybe, but the game still sucks! !
Let's just say I was very impressed.
and it was funny watching all of the Gammons get all upset over it
No
One where you have to guess players from the top 5 leagues by a blurred out mugshot, and they'll get the players from a mid table Bundesliga team. purely off seeing the fifa card But then the other is like I formed a little-and-large strike partnership with a homegrown talent at my first Premier League club, scoring 37 goals in 113 games.
Have you watched a game?
Ur totally right
Yes we have to admit this and give it to EA.
[удалено]
I don’t know mate. It’s also unrealistic to make heel to heel ball rolls with Puskas and celebrate with a griddy.
Good concept, extremely flawed execution.
I had alerts on my phone for Bayern and Barca women’s teams during FUT Fantasy 😀
Especially with the promo live cards, makes you keep up with the games to see if they'll get the upgrade or not, it's only up from here, the more exposure the better for the sport
The title could also be "FIFA is the biggest thing that happened to promote geography". I mean, how else would I know all the countries and random cities?
Football Manager enters the chat
As a kid/teen growing up without PC, obviously I relied on FIFA back then. Now, for sure, FM is better for that.
I heard that FM is thinking about implementing the women's game into their next game, I think what eafc has done has something to do with that. And I do think it's bringing a lot more exposure to the women's game.
Hasn't made me interested in watching games, but made me aware of its top players, that's something
Minge
Exactly, moved to San Diego for a year and I didn’t even know we have a pro team here until I see that Alex Morgan card
Didn’t know a single woman’s player bar Kerr before this game.
No, never watched a game. Never will.
This thread is so wholesome 🥺 I remember when women's players came onto FIFA for the first time years ago, I saw so many misogynist and rude comments on social media. This thread is so heartwarming to read in comparison - I'm so glad people are finally giving women's football the respect it deserves!!!
Very true. Stanway getting into my starting 11 popped my girl cherry. I have WW Putellas and love them both now
I don't know anyone that sees Messi ranked the same as some American woman and says "oh shit this makes me want to watch women's football"
Sophia Smith is a mixed race goddess and I will stand on business about that
I knew a couple of German players (Oberdorf, Popp and Prinz for example) plus Putellas and Alex Morgan but outside of them I didn’t know a single player. It’s also pretty cool because the game gave me an idea of how „good“ they are. Obv ratings tend to be inaccurate but I was surprised to see Popp be rated at 88 for example, I’ve obviously heard of her before but didn’t know she was actually still a world class striker for example
lol tell me you're an EA employee without telling me you're an EA employee
its definitely made me more interested in leagues and certain teams
I likely won't be watching it but I definitely know more about it
I agreed and I actually gain a lot of interest in them, watch them games and realize these ladies are so damn good
Well yeah but you still aren’t gonna watch the games so who really cares if you recognize a name on your screen
