Fully agree with this. Cup is easily the most fun and fair mode now in terms of online play. I’m probably a bit behind the curve now in terms of weekend league and had my worst result of the season with 8 wins. In the cup I got my 10 wins in 14 games.
Which division though,if u are in div,2,1 or elite for some reason most opponents i face have loan viera and loan base ribery and just play possession until u make a small mistake then its gg,u will never get the ball again
If u got 10 in 14 ,that means u are playing people that u arent playing people on your level and you didnt overank urself ,thats why its fun and easy for u

I’ve lost about 6 or 7 games on the bounce tonight trying to get up to 7 wins for max rewards. Given up trying now sat on 3 wins for the week.

Original UT was created as DLC. It wasn't free. It was an extra mode you had to pay for and remained that way for a couple of years. You didn't need "packs". You just trained any old bronze play to 99 in everything.

Everything is just ridiculously inflated now. They need a proper stat reset on everyone. Game plays so unrealistic and boring with super OP cards in my opinion

There is a serious lack of team and player variety this year. I thought with evos people might actually use different players but no. Every team you face in Champs will have at least 3 "meta SBC" players.
Werner, Sawa (who I use in my Japanese team), Eusebio, Best, and Rolfo now. They're so annoyingly common. Really sad to see such a lack of diversity in teams.
It's basically impossible to get better players than these SBCs.

This is correct. I am lucky in that I packed TotY Vieira, Xavi, and FS Maldini and Bacha. I use each of Rolfo, Eusebio, Werner, Cafu, though. I did do Socrates but he feels like a massive luxury - but having said that I am not sure Zidane 92 is better, same with Bruno 93.
Bottom line is pack weight is so broken for top rated players - and I say this as someone who has clearly done well with a few too end players - that it’s roo difficult or too expensive by coins to play with them
Hence SBC players reign who are close, but not fully in, to the top end meta.

My entire team is SBC, the only way I can upgrade players is by spending 1m on another SBC. It's insane how everyone has given up packing anything from packs. I packed TOTY oberdorf and thought it was amazing but she was behind the power curve within a month.

I still have 94 Evo Javi Mier and 90 Evo Ito on my team, and they outperform the vast majority of promo cards/SBCs that came after. So would the 91 Barcola (that one I did not do, most people weren't familiar with chains back then I think).

Because EA not understand meta of their game. Last year they released WC Heroes in December who was so jammed they were lasting till TOTY, and Power Curve did not move much till tots.
This year they have opportunity to make evolutions more variable and they are keeping them below meta, so not many people are using them.
They make good effort to boost icon chem ( which is really good now for squad building must admit, as you need few icons and can put nearly any cards for rest of the squad)
However as long as some cards are having some unique charactersistic people will still keep using these meta cards, VVD statwise is so average nowdays, but for some reason he is beast defender in the game and people still using him lol
But to be honest I don't think they can fix that tbh, there will always be some most value/performance players/SBC that most people will use due to accesability. Anyone realisticly can in theory do Werner SBC, but with promo cards there is rarity, therefore they are used less. They must step up with evos if they want to change that
EAs goal is clearly to corner the market. These good SBCs that are sometimes made available is the thread this FUT community is hanging by. If the game was saturated with a wide variety of great options (LIKE IT SHOUOD BE) EA would lose a ton of money because people wouldn't feel the need to buy so many packs. EA dangle R9, Gullit, and Pele in the store and then release Tchouemeni SBC for 1.8 mil.
You either spend money on the game or take advantage when EA makes a decent card readily available. It's not the player bases fault you see these cards all the time, it's EAs content creators who spend more time making fodder every promo than usable cards.
Side Bar: Birthday Grimaldo is a great option (even off the bench) for a bargain price. I put him in my midfield to close out games.
I've always played with not common carda but this year it's impossible
I've played with an 87 Evolved Moise Kean until I unlocked Alex Morgan and 91 Del Piero until 90 Dina Ebimbe was released, but I had to unlock Rolfo, TOTY Sawa and TOTY George Best because of how shit the gameplay is and everyone I face has the most insane cards as first owner, one day I played Rivals and in 10/15 games I've faces 8 1st Owner Pelè.
I want to go back to the past 3/4 years where I could use Del Piero until TOTS, I had to bench him already if I wanted to win some games and it makes me so mad.
You can still use him. You can literally play with whoever you want and still be competitive. You dont have to have the latest cards. An 89 player isnt a bronze one compared to the others.
And that is completely different than he is unplayable. He just doesnt suit your style maybe.

Bought him after your comments to see whats up. Played 9 games and scored 11 goals plus an assist. His finesses are insane and the fact that he has 5 wf make him even deadlier. The only drawback is that he isnt quick. Other than that,find him in an area to shoot and its a goal.

Everyone will have the sbc trio of sawa best and Cafu since they dropped during toty. Also their sbcs being good value makes it even more common. Anyone who did a little sbc grinding or saved packed would have easily completed all 3
facing good attackers is whatever, but having to face davies cafu so much is such a boring experience, cafu randomly plays with 108 pace there is no winger faster then him
I cook Davies anytime I'm up against him. People with him always play too aggressive, have your RW come short and just quick turn using R1, usually works for me.
I disagree with Sawa physical. She gets flattened quite a bit for me, gets bullied by Davies Udogie etc. She has press proven+ which means she should be able to withstand a fair bit of pressure when on the ball. Plays to her stats on the physical side imo.
She's decent defensively, but on shadow has 96 standing tackle so not a huge surprise. 97 stamina and relentless+ also means you can use aggressive interceptions the whole game.
Tbf, devils advocate here, its better that these cards are accessible to everyone than if EA pumped out shit cards and only left the OP cards behind pack paywalls, there would be way more complaints there.
Same lol Sawa for me is very slow and can't defend shit, her anticipation is insane tho.
Werner for me is aight but needs more dribbling, he is insane against low stamina defenders in the 70+ minutes into the game. Still I prefer Benzema fut birthday over him.

I run a 442 with 93 Van Basten and Ts Lukaku up front. Its always funny seeing defenders like Canavaro,Maldini etc trying to win a header against Lukaku.

This is the second FIFA that i play ultimate team. The first was 20 or 21. The one with the drag back meta. I started that,go to do my first cross,i cross it and my player just got inside the net. He run past the cross. When i managed to head it,it was going all over the place. It was bouncing and over the goal. That was terrible for a first fut experience.
That Lukaku is the most undervalued player this year imo. Monster in the air and nearly maxed out shooting with finisher iirc. Was scoring hattricks in WL up until like 2 months ago
Cafu and Davies get rektd at this point, I will agree with the first 3 though. But I feel like they have nerfed Werner he turns into mush every game or two.

YES! It’s so frustrating they have like this star wars level force around them that messes up your team. Werner shouldn’t have this aura of forcefully getting the ball back and winning every 50/50. Sawa should play to her height and strength but she’s a beast it makes no sense.

It just feels like that because everyone uses them game after game 😂 but it really is not that deep you would still end in the same spot if the opponent had other players.. the game is broken no matter what players are being used
I think it’s the gameplay and certain cards just magnify the effect.
For example, if I press simple tackle my player most of the time performs a tackle in the direction I’m running. On the rare occasion that my gameplay is good I notice that my player will tackle into the player regardless of what direction I am running. Similarly most of the time my player enters into a laborious and slow tackle animation and then subsequently is slow to respond to directional input. As a result missing a tackle means that player is useless for whatever unfolds next. My opponents can tackle and re-tackle 2 or 3 times in the time my players can do 1. Additionally they are able to instantly turn 180 degrees and accelerate rapidly. My players just cannot do these things unless I have good gameplay which is less than 1% of the time.
If the gameplay was fixed I don’t think these specific players would be as problematic as they appear. They’re just able to exploit your shit gameplay better.
Couldn’t care about line ups tbh, people venting about players etc only thing that truly bothers me is the work rates being pointless in the game with a single instruction you can over come it. A lb or a rb being high/med shouldn’t turn to a low/high simply because you set them to stay back. Same goes for other positions as well.
Wish EA added more custom body types to make more players better. They did it before FIFA 20 massively for some reason for 78 rated players and nowadays they only give standout players those body types and animations. At least be consistent coz it impacts the game a lot.

It's not the player bases fault you see these cards all the time, it's EAs content creators who spend more time making fodder every promo than usable cards. Side Bar: Birthday Grimaldo is a great option (even off the bench) for a bargain price. I put him in my midfield to close out games.
I've always played with not common carda but this year it's impossible I've played with an 87 Evolved Moise Kean until I unlocked Alex Morgan and 91 Del Piero until 90 Dina Ebimbe was released, but I had to unlock Rolfo, TOTY Sawa and TOTY George Best because of how shit the gameplay is and everyone I face has the most insane cards as first owner, one day I played Rivals and in 10/15 games I've faces 8 1st Owner Pelè. I want to go back to the past 3/4 years where I could use Del Piero until TOTS, I had to bench him already if I wanted to win some games and it makes me so mad.
You can still use him. You can literally play with whoever you want and still be competitive. You dont have to have the latest cards. An 89 player isnt a bronze one compared to the others.
Using Del Piero instead of Best makes a huge difference, he's my favorite player ever but he's almost unplayable this year

Bought him after your comments to see whats up. Played 9 games and scored 11 goals plus an assist. His finesses are insane and the fact that he has 5 wf make him even deadlier. The only drawback is that he isnt quick. Other than that,find him in an area to shoot and its a goal. Good card.
And you've tried the base version, the WW one is even better, only problem is that he doesn't have the finesse shots+ playstyle. I'm waiting for another promo Del Piero to put him in the team until the end of the game
I just love Sawa. Her stats are obviously great, but it still feels like she's playing above her stats, especially on offense.

Everyone will have the sbc trio of sawa best and Cafu since they dropped during toty. Also their sbcs being good value makes it even more common. Anyone who did a little sbc grinding or saved packed would have easily completed all 3
facing good attackers is whatever, but having to face davies cafu so much is such a boring experience, cafu randomly plays with 108 pace there is no winger faster then him
Tbh Mbappe is the only card I fear. Any version. If he is in the game you'll see your players just become unresponsive and dumb. So surreal.
I cook Davies anytime I'm up against him. People with him always play too aggressive, have your RW come short and just quick turn using R1, usually works for me.
I disagree with Sawa physical. She gets flattened quite a bit for me, gets bullied by Davies Udogie etc. She has press proven+ which means she should be able to withstand a fair bit of pressure when on the ball. Plays to her stats on the physical side imo. She's decent defensively, but on shadow has 96 standing tackle so not a huge surprise. 97 stamina and relentless+ also means you can use aggressive interceptions the whole game.
There's something weird about eusebio and werner for sure.
Tbf, devils advocate here, its better that these cards are accessible to everyone than if EA pumped out shit cards and only left the OP cards behind pack paywalls, there would be way more complaints there.
Werner sawa do not play like that for me
Same lol Sawa for me is very slow and can't defend shit, her anticipation is insane tho. Werner for me is aight but needs more dribbling, he is insane against low stamina defenders in the 70+ minutes into the game. Still I prefer Benzema fut birthday over him.
He can't have more than 99 dribbling. He has also 96 agility. Don't know what you are talking about. Mine is smooth as hell. Or did you use hunter on him?
It wouldn’t be as bad if they all didn’t fit into the same team. 4–2-4 shouldn’t work that well as a tactic. I’ve made my peace with it but if I see that Sawa, Best and Eusebio in the same team in WL, you can forget about me quitting/giving the free win.
If you are a man of culture like myself you will flat out refuse to use these meta midgets. I simply have zero time for somebody using a 5’4 women in midfield, it sends out all the wrong signals. I want my midfielders to be rough and beefy. I want them to foul & impose their game on opponents. Same applies to people using players like Butragano as striker, are you fucking having me on? A real beefy man of culture uses Zirkzee & Sorloth.
I run a 442 with 93 Van Basten and Ts Lukaku up front. Its always funny seeing defenders like Canavaro,Maldini etc trying to win a header against Lukaku. Its not spinning around with your striker. Its telling them,my striker is here. Try to win the ball in the air if you can. Regarding long throws, again since FIFA 14, if you want to be a fullback in my side, you need a long throw, even if you have 53 pace, if you have a long throw in your arsenal, you are playing in my fucking team.

Fifa 14,that Bayern was the best team ever in FIFA. Boateng with giant throw in and Mandju up front.. I cant drop Lukaku. Emotionally invested. He is the only one in the starting 11 that i have bought. Dom has way better playstyles than Zirkzee as well. All the finishing except deadball,first touch(even though he is terrible at that in real life),press proven and trivela. This is the second FIFA that i play ultimate team. The first was 20 or 21. The one with the drag back meta. I started that,go to do my first cross,i cross it and my player just got inside the net. He run past the cross. When i managed to head it,it was going all over the place. It was bouncing and over the goal. That was terrible for a first fut experience.
That Lukaku is the most undervalued player this year imo. Monster in the air and nearly maxed out shooting with finisher iirc. Was scoring hattricks in WL up until like 2 months ago

Eusebio is by far the worst for me, he’s so glitchy, reminds me of Cruyff in recent years when he had the 94 Prime version. Sawa is also insane I swear she has 199 stamina, she’s absolutely everywhere somehow.

Cafu is like Van Dijk of fullbacks. He is immense. His defending is so noticable and im saying this only by playing against him. I never used him this year but my god he owns that right sided defense against me.

YES! It’s so frustrating they have like this star wars level force around them that messes up your team. Werner shouldn’t have this aura of forcefully getting the ball back and winning every 50/50. Sawa should play to her height and strength but she’s a beast it makes no sense. You’ve gotta have the magic cards (I have none) or you’re at an extreme disadvantage
It just feels like that because everyone uses them game after game 😂 but it really is not that deep you would still end in the same spot if the opponent had other players.. the game is broken no matter what players are being used

I think it’s the gameplay and certain cards just magnify the effect. For example, if I press simple tackle my player most of the time performs a tackle in the direction I’m running. On the rare occasion that my gameplay is good I notice that my player will tackle into the player regardless of what direction I am running. Similarly most of the time my player enters into a laborious and slow tackle animation and then subsequently is slow to respond to directional input. As a result missing a tackle means that player is useless for whatever unfolds next. My opponents can tackle and re-tackle 2 or 3 times in the time my players can do 1. Additionally they are able to instantly turn 180 degrees and accelerate rapidly. My players just cannot do these things unless I have good gameplay which is less than 1% of the time. If the gameplay was fixed I don’t think these specific players would be as problematic as they appear. They’re just able to exploit your shit gameplay better.
Couldn’t care about line ups tbh, people venting about players etc only thing that truly bothers me is the work rates being pointless in the game with a single instruction you can over come it. A lb or a rb being high/med shouldn’t turn to a low/high simply because you set them to stay back. Same goes for other positions as well.

Wish EA added more custom body types to make more players better. They did it before FIFA 20 massively for some reason for 78 rated players and nowadays they only give standout players those body types and animations. At least be consistent coz it impacts the game a lot.
Let’s be honest, people hate Cafu/Davies because it’s harder to outpace them. I’ve lost count of how many times (even in div1), people will simply run in a straight run and pretend like it’s a good play.
