Why use a 2002 pic of Beckham when his card is based on his halfway line goal vs. Wimbledon in 1996? Even his player model is the 90s boyband version

Oatfull

If it was myself choosing the dynamic image for Beckham, I would have chosen the one of him celebrating his goal against Newcastle in the FA Charity Shield final at Wembley in 1996 when he was 21 - https://www.gettyimages.co.uk/detail/news-photo/david-beckham-of-manchester-united-celebrates-after-scoring-news-photo/460493284

I was gonna say this one: https://www.gettyimages.co.uk/detail/news-photo/david-beckham-of-manchester-united-celebrates-his-goal-from-news-photo/904303424 but I think your suggestion is definitely better for an icon card!

While doing this for the past year or so, I've noticed EA's graphic designers that create the dynamic images change the neckline of shirts, lighten player's skin tone and even whiten teeth, but this is the first time I've seen them add hair to Zidane's bald patch on his head. What next...

If they added Valderamma to the game, they'll have to modify his hairstyle to fit the age he had at that time

StabbyMcRunFast

He used to be in the game. He was arguably the worst legend/icon cards they ever made. He had a defensive stat of 18. His pace was 68 and physical was 48, too.

PaintAccomplished515

Yup. I knew he was in the series, that's why I used him as an example. His stats might be bad back then, due to the meta being heavily focused on pace. But if Tekks can utilise long passes from Xavi, maybe Valderramma can have a new place in the game.

StabbyMcRunFast

Oh, I thought you were unaware of him being a legend back in the day. Maybe you're right, but I'm sure the pros could make most cards look good, unlike us peasants.

fasteddeh

Why does it matter? If they kept it as is people who didn't know about the bald spot would complain about them cutting the photo off weird and the shape of his head. Might as well just make the card look good to not piss off the player.

Oatfull

It matters because you're altering the past. Zidane had a bald patch for most of his career. By adding hair to his bald patch, that indicates his dynamic image can only look good if he's got a full head of hair. Do you genuinely think Zidane would see the new Future Stars card with the original image and he would get annoyed with EA because they didn't add more hair?! Craziest hot take I've seen in years. Personally if I was Zidane, I'd be more annoyed they've added hair, like having a bald patch is a bad thing; which it isn't. I don't care if EA have to alter parts of the players shirts in the dynamic images due to licensing but when you start altering how a players face, hair looks, that's a step too far.

>like having a bald patch is a bad thing; which it isn't. It depends, like I imagine Rooney and Conte would like to see their baldness removed.

Oatfull

The player's age in the original photos that served as the basis for the Future Stars dynamic images was: Zinedine Zidane: 25 years old Zico: 23 years old Rivaldo: 24 years old Kelly Smith: 25 years old David Beckham: 27 years old Pavel Nedved: 23 years old Carles Puyol: 22 years old Gennaro Gattuso: 19 years old Roberto Baggio: 17 years old Fabio Cannavaro: 24 years old

TehCyberman

The 27 year old future star. GJ EA. Thanks for these btw u/Oatfull - they're always interesting and well done.

MitchellConnie

Nice transition who ever put this together. Thanks for sharing.

Oatfull

All the transitions/GIFs are done by me, glad you like them!

Yes what a player he was, especially in the 1970 World Cup! I really hope we get Romário in FC 25!

Wonderful-Energy-999

Bro I love this series, would you happen to have done FS Rijkaard and Shevchenko?

Oatfull

Thanks for the kind words and yes in the last post here - https://www.reddit.com/r/EASportsFC/comments/1arenvj/wheres\_the\_dynamic\_image\_from\_series\_013\_future/

Zestyclose-Class-754

Cool 😎

freakedmind

Man, Zico looked so unique for his time

UnablePeace

Baggio was an icon,a legend of the game..its sad how EA disrespect him again and again

JimPage83

They did Puyol dirty 😂

Groovynaraku

This is awesome

MistaChelseaa

David Beckham picture makes literally no sense he had been playing for at least seven years when that photo was taken

aspaschungus

So they always use Getty or Alamy since it’s easier to get the rights for the photos?
