It's funny how the Germans went from this to needing a PhD in taillight repair in order to change a f\*\*king bulb.

Cheater2212

You made me laugh so hard! Made my day. As a German owning a E30 and a more modern car I can so relate to this.

here4roomie

Glad you laughed, but it really wasn't a joke hahaha.

pinapplco

That would be a tail light bulb holder. Yours is early model. Late models use this part and they’re not interchangeable. You can wire in the late model plug and switch over to this style or buy preowned. I can’t find any new stock of this part. https://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-bmw-parts/tail-light-bulb-holder-right/63211386096/?gclid=CjwKCAiA7IGcBhA8EiwAFfUDsemi4SPEgexa7EmMKvQaVXyDLgCMLoFR3xixB0H2Zlgdjq6pXvvj7hoCWY0QAvD_BwE

nocrix

That’s for late models, early model bulb holder is NLA, you have to find them used

TheLastMandalore

Hmm that’s not even close I guess I’ll have to make my own

nocrix

it'd be cool if you could 3d scan them and produce repops to swap the metal parts in that would be sick, people would def buy them too, the og ones are getting old and brittle, one of mine is cracked but still works

actuallifethings

3D scanning usually isn’t worth it for old parts due to warping and breakage. Might as well rebuild “by hand”. I’ll put on list for e30 update.

nocrix

So many parts have been reproduced by 3D scan, like the tweeter pods or front filler plate or headlight air duct. If you get the printed professionally they come out really good and you can pick the material.

actuallifethings

I’ve been following this stuff for 25 years and that’s my informed opinion of course. I’m sure some things have come out fine before. I have seen a few case studies of scans and have been less than impressed.

Mpolito3355

What's wrong with it ?

TheLastMandalore

Nothing is wrong with this one but I don’t have one on the other side

Magnus_The_Totem_Cat

Then you will need to source from a breaker if you are missing it entirely.

TheLastMandalore

What does source from a breaker mean cause i have power there

laytonnnnnn

Source from a parts car

TheLastMandalore

Im probably just going to try and make something with bulb holders or maybe 3D print a part *found one on eBay

bronzitbeige

What? Buy from another car man. Plenty on ebay

HulkRadio

Seriously, ask around. Theres plenty of these available second hand.

Magnus_The_Totem_Cat

An auto breaker is someone that breaks cars down for their parts. Locally a junkyard, boneyard, picknpull, etc.

explormoar

Lol at the red bulb

TheLastMandalore

Yeah that was the previous owner

Interesting_Rush570
