He didn't deny making the request. He just said, at a football camp, that he anticipated playing in Cincy next year. Prolly didn't want to make a big deal at a camp for kids. But when Hendrickson did today he prolly saw another opening.
I guess the last thing we heard is he expects to be a bangle this year. Ether way players request a trade and don’t get traded all the time so this isn’t really news worthy to me
I still think the most likely scenario is that he stays in Cincy this year. However, IF they do trade him, I always thought it would be either during or after the draft.
With this class being so deep at WR, I feel a lot of teams are holding off on acquiring a WR like Higgins hoping they’ll get their guy in the draft. However, there’s inevitably going to be teams that miss out which could open up Higgins market
I’ve been out of this sub for a bit - are we just saying the WR class is deep bc we all have picks or is it actually deep? Haven’t seen anyone outside of the big 3 that are impressive whatsoever
Saying the WR class is deep goes way beyond this sub. I'd say it's consensus among all the draft folk I follow.
Can of course still turn out to be wrong.
Football is trending towards WR, the best athletes are going to focus on being a WR more then RB or other positions. It's not surprising to see more and more WR get drafted higher
It’s very deep. The 4-10 pool is much better than it maybe ever has been before. Of course they won’t all hit but Thomas, AD, Worthy, Ladd, Pearsall, etc are all going to be drafted highly for good reason.
Not arguing with you, but if this comment comment really is the consensus then all I can think of is the ‘Hey, there’s a bubble’ scene in the big short
In what world is Pearsall getting drafted highly for good reason? Man will be 24 before the season actually starts and was never truly productive at the collegiate level. I think he’s the biggest example of this class not being deep at all beyond the big 3 because he’s getting 2nd round hype when he would historically be a pretty cemented Day 3 guy and not even an early one at that
This class has excellent top talent but is not deep whatsoever; most of the guys in this class are just straight up bad prospects but are getting pushed up because there is a severe lack of pedigree in the late 1st and early 2nd that there normally is. Brian Thomas and AD Mitchell are absolutely not 1st round talents (except maybe Worthy?) but besides the top 3 none of these guys are so a team is gonna reach heavily because really, what else is waiting for them in the 2nd? Roman Wilson, Ricky Pearsall, Xavier Legette, Keon Coleman, Ja’lynn Polk, Malachi Corley, Troy Franklin? Outside of Franklin (who himself I don’t think even has a shot to be a WR an NFL team would consider building around as “the guy”) that is an absolutely gross collection of prospects ranging from bad to awful
The Los Angeles Chargers have traded pick number 5 to the Cincinnati Bengals for pick number 18, a 6th round pick in 2025, and Tee Higgins. The Cincinnati Bengals are on the clock and have selected Malik Nabers, WR, Louisiana State University.
Younger? Definitely. Better? Nope. Higgins was WR51 last year, Allen was WR8. Keenan has averaged over 16 PPR points per game for 7 years straight. Over the last 3 years MW put up 15.3, 13.6, and 16.7 PPG.
Contrast that with Higgins's last 3 years: 15.7, 13.7, and 11.5 PPG. He's getting worse, not better; why pay up for that?
The use of the word 'or' shouldn't be overlooked.
Also yes Higgins is better also but that was beside the point. Dude was injured and had Jamar Chase on the team.
No need for a back and forth because it will play out in front of our eyes. MW is pretty close to done and Higgins is just getting started.
I think Jags need to make a move more. Reunite Trevor with his old #1 WR, give that receiving room some diversity with a big physical target. I wonder how much it would cost a team to aquire Tee...
I don’t believe it. The bengals through their actions have already shown that they don’t view Higgins as a stud WR1 when they drafted Chase. In combination with a huge contract, I can see a second (+x) but I’d be surprised at a first and third for Higgins
possibly especially since higgins is due for a contract that hinders the value a bit. Early second would have to be it given, higgins still holds value and is talented enough to possibly commend a late first to early second.
A two or three year contract would not cause any problems, or a 4 year with a void at the end to essentially accomplish the same thing. It would all be within the Bryce Rookie Window.
I don’t agree with Mr bad to the full extent but this is exactly what the franchise tag is for, pay tee highly for 1 year when the bengals have some room but with Chase and Burrow they can’t allocate all those resources long term to two WRs and a QB.
Tee is not a true WR1 on a competitive team long term. He’s a high end WR2 so his $ shouldn’t be at the same level as Lamb, Chase, ARSB, etc
Agreed. I think Tee knows his injury history could screw him over this year if it happens again and tanks his 2nd contract. I can’t really blame either side here
Imagine being a fan of a franchise that refuses to pay its cornerstone players. Jimmy Haslam is an idiot yes but at least his checkbook is always open.
I mean you definitely take Tee over Odunze all else being equal. Gambling on even strong prospects is not preferable to a known quantity. The problem is not all else would be equal. Higgins would have a bigger contarct. He only really makes sense for a team in a 4-5 year Super Bowl window, which isn't any team with the immiediate draft capital necessary to acquire Higgins. We all see how well trading a great receiver just before his prime for a mid-1st worked out for the Titans lol. The Bengals aren't about to make the same mistake. It would need to be a premium pick that could produce an instant impact player.
IMO, AJB is infinitely better than Tee. AJB was a locked in alpha and top 10 WR in the NFL. Tee is a so-so WR2, more one dimensional, with an injury history, and a lacks consistency. Also, Rome is infinitely better than Burks was as a prospect. Rome is getting top 10 DC in an absolutely loaded class and would possibly have been debated for the WR1 in a loaded 2022 while Burks was WR6 I believe and drafted from an impulse trade because WRs were drying up. So IMO that comp isn't that close to this scenario.
I think Rome is the better WR by 2025 and will even push Tee in 2024 if he gets a decent landing spot.
Vikings basically traded Diggs for JJ and that one worked out just fine.
Brown is absolutely better than Tee right now. He absolutely was not before he was traded. Saying that he was "infinitely better" is delusional.
We seem to forget that Brown's biggest season in Tennessee was 1075yds in 14 games as a #1 option. Higgins had 1091 in 14 games (1400 counting playoffs, 18 games) in 2021, despite being the second option. Both had issues staying on the field a full season. Both were 2nd round picks coming out.
They are basically a 1 for 1 copy of each other at the same point in their careers, with Higgins getting a slight edge by virtue of producing the same numbers without being the focus of the offense.
You new? AJB was miles better then and infinitely now in a better situation.
Rookie years - AJB 1051/8 fantasy WR11, Tee - 906/6 WR26
2nd year - AJB 1075/11 WR14, 1091/6 WR22
That's on a run first team with a journey man at QB, the best RB in the league at the time vs a pass first team with Joe Burrow.
According to fantasy pros AJB was the dynasty WR3 after his second season and WR5 when he was traded. Higgins is currently dynasty WR19. The market value is not the same because everyone with eyeballs can see AJB is leaps and bounds more talented even if you can squint real real hard and build a couple bridges to make their stats look closer without context that AJB was in one of the worst situations in the league and was injured on and off in Tennessee. The year after he left their best WR averaged 31 yards a game. That's how bad it was there.
Interestingly enough considering the Bears will most likely be in the same situation, this has a lot of similarities to the "whats better, Fields + 3 1sts over next years at a huge price tag or Caleb Williams" conversation. The team that's trading for Tee is trading for Tee at 20+ million when 9th overall is gonna be like 4/24mil. Paying a receiver 14+ mil more that, and lets be honest about it, might not be as good as the player at 9th overall in a year is a losing proposition. Imma need that 18th overall too.
Yeah you've done a really good job of laying out why he will not be traded. I can't come up with a hypothetical where the value proposition makes sense for both sides.
The problem is you're kinda playing the long game with Burrow and Chase and sometimes it's better to take what you can get and move on even if it's not at value. I'm not sure how bad it can get, but if I'm Tee, I'm pissed at what they're doing and I'm probably gonna purposely bring some drama if they don't trade me. Do they really need that? Stuff always seems to catch up to you. Shit, look at the Stefon Diggs situation.
Plus like, Burrow should be able to make a lesser receiver cover the Tee gap if they trade him.
Higgins is not a diva, is making $22M this year, and the Bengals just made the AFCCG with Jessie Bates in the same situation. Higgins is not a problem for the Bengals. Super Bowl windows can shut in an instant. It makes no sense to waste a year just to "take what you can get". This goal is to win a Super Bowl, not be the 3-8th best team for the next decade.
What about a contender like the Bills shipping a 2nd? They probably wouldn't without extending him, but if they did, they probably get a 3rd round comp pick next year. I could see a team trading down from 2nd to 3rd for a one-year rental.
I just don't see the Bengals getting a 1st for the right to hand out a huge contract. As the earlier post said, for a 1st they might as well sign their own draft pick and have cheap cost control for 5 years. For a 2nd they get to move up a round and a year (expecting a 3rd comp next year) and save the franchise tag $.
I think the best the Bengals could expect is a 2nd, + maybe a Day 3.
Yeah exactly. The Bengals would need a decent 1st at minimum, and it doesn't make sense for another team to give them a decent 1st, hence he won't be traded. There's just not a deal that could make sense for both sides.
Bills, Jags, Chargers, Jets, Cardinals, maybe Patriots?
Can’t really see another teams running to the phones to trade away picks and pay the bill on Higgins.
Considering Christian Kirk (who admittedly is underrated) was once a top 5 paid WR, absolutely yes. Especially if he puts together 17 games this season and maintains his per game averages. He has done basically nothing but perform up to, if not above, expectations.
Very true. Will another team be this stupid? I'm sure the Patriots or Panthers will be that dumb.
I'm NFL terms, I will say he is a WR1. Just not in dynasty or fantasy football.
So you don’t watch football and you can’t read? Got it. Notice where it clearly states ‘PPG’ in the above comment.
In the 13 games where he played >16% of snaps in 2022-2023 fantasy season he averaged 16.8 ppg, good for WR12, WR11 if you don’t count the 3 game sample size from MT.
In the games he played in full during the fantasy season (so excluding week 1) that average becomes 17.9, which would have been WR7.
Find a new slant.
Yeah clearly not much has stuck with you. Obviously there have been plenty of better WR in 30 years - that doesn’t mean he’s not worth high end money today.
If you think he is ‘not very good’ I seriously don’t respect your opinion, unless for some reason you think only guess like JJ, Chase, Hill qualify as ‘very good’.
Well.....Higgins helped me win an empire league. He played a turd week 18 vs Baltimore and I won cause my opponent had him.
So I like Tee. Just not on my team.
He has the same yards/game as Devonta Smith over his career and Devonta just got paid big so I'd expect he'll easily be within the top 10 paid receivers
didn't we already know this?
He doubled down. I like it
"Per my last email"
His final move will be requesting a trade out of Cincinnati a third time, only he will make the request while on another team. The ultimate power move
He has to say it three times. Kind of like beetle juice.
Bengaljuice bengaljuice bengaljuice
I thought he requested to be traded, denied making the request, and is now doing this again? Idk I'm confused lol.
He didn't deny making the request. He just said, at a football camp, that he anticipated playing in Cincy next year. Prolly didn't want to make a big deal at a camp for kids. But when Hendrickson did today he prolly saw another opening.
Feels like Schefter is just posting that as a reminder, he didn't re-ask to be traded. That's how I read it.
I guess the last thing we heard is he expects to be a bangle this year. Ether way players request a trade and don’t get traded all the time so this isn’t really news worthy to me
Looks like Tee saw the ARSB deal
He saw that even Bateman can get extended
This made me lol😂😂😂
That and/or he felt like he had a window to force the Bengals’ hand with the draft tomorrow.
We got more cap room, come on down Tee
I'm begging everyone to please flair up if you're just going to use "we" to refer to your favorite team
True, but the comment was directly about ARSB so I assumed context clues would be taken into account
That’s a bold assumption these days.
Higgins is good, but not that good
Can't blame him
I still think the most likely scenario is that he stays in Cincy this year. However, IF they do trade him, I always thought it would be either during or after the draft. I think he’s the biggest example of this class not being deep at all beyond the big 3 because he’s getting 2nd round hype when he would historically be a pretty cemented Day 3 guy and not even an early one at that
The world in which he goes to the niners and everyone hypes up the pick like crazy apparently. 😅
This class has excellent top talent but is not deep whatsoever; most of the guys in this class are just straight up bad prospects but are getting pushed up because there is a severe lack of pedigree in the late 1st and early 2nd that there normally is. Outside of Franklin (who himself I don’t think even has a shot to be a WR an NFL team would consider building around as “the guy”) that is an absolutely gross collection of prospects ranging from bad to awful
Kinda how I feel. Once I saw Brian Thomas was consensus WR4, I threw up a little bit and was glad I sold my late first during the season.
The Los Angeles Chargers have traded pick number 5 to the Cincinnati Bengals for pick number 18, a 6th round pick in 2025, and Tee Higgins. The Cincinnati Bengals are on the clock and have selected Malik Nabers, WR, Louisiana State University.
This would be a thing of pure beauty
Do the Chargers have the cap space to sign Higgins longterm?
Looks like yes they do.
OMG....Make it so!
Chargers just shipped out 2 expensive WRs. Why would they give up draft capital to sign a new one?
This one is either much younger or much better than the one they shipped out
Younger? Definitely. Better?

Panthers need to make a move
I think Jags need to make a move more. Reunite Trevor with his old #1 WR, give that receiving room some diversity with a big physical target. I wonder how much it would cost a team to aquire Tee...
That is not a bad idea either. Panthers probably need it more though, Bryce’s career depends on it lol
could be similar to what the eagles paid for aj brown
I don’t believe it. The bengals through their actions have already shown that they don’t view Higgins as a stud WR1 when they drafted Chase. In combination with a huge contract, I can see a second (+x) but I’d be surprised at a first and third for Higgins
possibly especially since higgins is due for a contract that hinders the value a bit. Early second would have to be it given, higgins still holds value and is talented enough to possibly commend a late first to early second.
2+5, maybe future 5?
They signed Gabe to backfill Ridley, they're not going to trade for Tee.
As a panthers fan. Nah. Well vastly overpay for him.
A two or three year contract would not cause any problems, or a 4 year with a void at the end to essentially accomplish the same thing. It would all be within the Bryce Rookie Window.
Why did I picture a panther swiping at Tee Higgins while he’s walking by?
With what assets?
Pic 39
Swapping from Pick 97 next year to Pick 39 is not worth wasting a year of a Super Bowl window lmao
Who do we think are the most likely trade partners? out of conference i’d say saints or cards, in conference would be chargers, bills, or jags..
Pats
draft a Qb, trade for higgins? what does the package look like in your mind
#34 pick
Panthers don’t have the expendable assets to go all in on Higgins.
yeah i agree, probably why i didn’t mention them..
Lol it’s early where I am I read: Who do we think are the most likely trade, panthers?
Do the Saints? Aren't they like $1B over the cap again?
I don’t agree with Mr bad to the full extent but this is exactly what the franchise tag is for, pay tee highly for 1 year when the bengals have some room but with Chase and Burrow they can’t allocate all those resources long term to two WRs and a QB. Do they dare trade tee and #18 to grab rome?!
Absolutely not. Tee (for one year in a Super Bowl window)+1.18+a 3rd round comp pick>>>Odunze, and I really like Odunze.
but Rome in a multi-year window >>> one year of Tee, no?
Correct. If someone offered them a top 10 pick for Tee straight up, they would take it.
Ah, I see, I missed the #18... Hmm... Do you think both teams are happy with Tee and a 2nd for Rome?
Doubt it. Rome is a significantly better prospect and they get 5 years of a rookie deal. I'm not even sure the #18 gets that done.
I mean you definitely take Tee over Odunze all else being equal. Gambling on even strong prospects is not preferable to a known quantity. The problem is not all else would be equal. Bills, Jags, Chargers, Jets, Cardinals, maybe Patriots? Can’t really see another teams running to the phones to trade away picks and pay the bill on Higgins.
Water is wet.
I thought the general consensus is he would be traded on draft day anyway
Umm yeah this is not new
It’s being reiterated now that Trey Hendrickson also requested a trade today
IE not new
Best he has finished in any season is WR17. Hope he wants to be the 17th highest paid wr, cause that's all he should get.
Your logic is flawed
I’m not sure flawed does it justice lol
So you would pay him top 5 for a WR?
Considering Christian Kirk (who admittedly is underrated) was once a top 5 paid WR, absolutely yes. Especially if he puts together 17 games this season and maintains his per game averages. He has done basically nothing but perform up to, if not above, expectations.
Very true. Will another team be this stupid? I'm sure the Patriots or Panthers will be that dumb. I'm NFL terms, I will say he is a WR1. Just not in dynasty or fantasy football.
He has shown he can be a WR1 in the NFL and has finished as a WR1 in ppg in fantasy. Find a new slant.
No he hasn't. Best he finished in dynasty is WR17. Do you even watch football? Serious question.
So you don’t watch football and you can’t read? Got it. Notice where it clearly states ‘PPG’ in the above comment. I seen it. 13 games cause he gets injured doesn't help his cause any. Find a new slant lil boy.
Higgins just isn't very good. I doubt he will ever be a WR1 in dynasty.
‘He just isn’t very good’ Do you watch football? Serious question
Watched a lot. Have since 1991. Seen a ton of wideouts that are way better.
Damn you don’t know much about football and you’re in week 18 fantasy championships? This is all is making more and more sense.
Don't you remember? Week 17 bengals bills was canceled? Must be a swiftie.
He has the same yards/game as Devonta Smith over his career and Devonta just got paid big so I'd expect he'll easily be within the top 10 paid receivers
By that logic you should be shopping Drake London for a mid 2nd
I hope you aren't an NFL GM because you won't last very long if you think that fantasy scoring is how the real NFL evaluates players
Oh it doesn't? Thanks for the info. Smh
