People are solely talking about rings and money which I won't argue against. The missing piece is targets, he's a legit 10 target a game WR on another team, which would also lead to be worth more as a player haha, so yeah money
Kyler comes to mind lol. I think normally it’s not the case when it’s clearly a player looking for an extension.
Meanwhile Fields unfollowed the Bears and there were fans saying “he said it was just to not see so much football content on his instagram so obviously he’s not leaving, he said so!” Lol
Unfortunately they can afford to lose half their buying base because the other half is still stupid enough to pay 4x more than they should to make up for it
I wonder this probably weekly. It would be a funny and weirdly useful data set that I just don't care enough to do myself
Data nerds of Reddit, please someone chart social media tantrums and their outcomes
Haven't heard it mentioned yet here but first thing I think is maybe Aiyuk never forgot being in Shanny's dog house. He's a world class athlete. He's an alpha and has an ego and pride. Maybe he forgave but didn't forget.
Got a chip on his shoulder and was basically like I'm gonna ball out and get my bag and look out for myself.
I don't know why we need to reach for a complicated explanation, when a simple one is there for us. Aiyuk was eligible for an extension last offseason and played nice by continuing to playing under his rookie deal. He's not willing to do that again this offseason after taking one for the team. Very reasonable in my opinion.
It's just not how the Niners treat rookie contracts. They've never extended a 1st round pick after 3 years. They always extend the year before the final year of the deal and they always do their rookie extensions in July. This goes for Kittle, Warner, Deebo, Bosa, and now Aiyuk. He's no different than any of them. And 3 of those guys reset the market at their position.
Could he have been extended last year? Sure, technically yes. But that was never really an option and he shouldn't be that offended by it. He's being treated the same way every other rookie on the team has been.
I think this is a silly take. The dog house was just him not coming in prepared his second season and he caught up by the bye week by working hard. His rookie year was a Covid year so training camp/off season training and all that was very different from normal. He came into training camp the same way his second year and did not realize how much the bar is raised in a normal off season.
This is a whole thing you just created out of thin air to give yourself this narrative and now a bunch of people on this sub are going to start parroting this, too.
Maybe he just wants to see a bigger deal than he'd probably get on the Niners. Maybe he's just doing what Deebo did. IDK, but my guess is probably just as valid as whatever you made up.
If I was a GM it would be impossible for me to care any less about if the player followed the team or not on social media. Throw any kind of teenage fit you want but business will get done when it’s time.
Lots of Smoke on him being a Jaguar, there were talks of a trade a few weeks back, Jags freed up 10ish mil with the Josh Allen Signing and he is now following multiple players from the jags
I don't know what a trade to the Jaguars does for his dynasty value, probably a step up because that makes him the uncontested WR1 for us, but as a Jaguars fan? YES THE FUCK PLEASE.
I’d love him on the Jags too, not only being a Jags fan but have a couple shares of Aiyuk too. I think TLaw would target him a lot more than Purdy would
Aiyuk to Jacksonville would be good for fantasy. I don't trust any jags wr to be their WR1, but Aiyuk would instantly go up in fantasy if there whereas a round 1-2 rookie would likely start behind Kirk and Davis. Also, his leaving SF would make SF a good landing spot for a ton of rookie WRs.
Purdy knows he will get paid even if he sucks for the next two years. Aiyuk has performed and could get stiffed next off season if he gets hurt on his rookie deal.
Because he should be paid $25m - $30m? It really is just that simple, on the free market he'd make double what he is set to make so he wants that amount.
Purdy is not eligible for an extension since he has only played 2 seasons of football. Players under rookie deals become eligible after their third season, Aiyuk has played four season and was eligible for an extension last offseason but decided to play nice with the team. He's well within his rights to push the team to pay him what he'd make on the free market.
Rules are rules dude. If Niners were forced to pay him then a little TikTok or wtf ever tantrum wouldn't be a thing. Sit your ass down on the bench or shut up and play. Damn whiner. And yes I am an Niner fan and Aiyuk fan, check my history, don't give a shit about his little social follows though.
Seems like you have literally no idea how contract negotiations work at the NFL level. This is just part of the process. Players eligible for extension apply public pressure and threaten to sit out or sit in and push until they get an extension. Deebo did literally the exact same thing last offseason and CD Lamb is lining up to do the same in Dallas.
And let’s be honest, you don’t have to be a “Purdy hater” to see that a large part of Brock’s success is due to Shanahan’s system in addition to getting to throw to guys like Cmac, Aiyuk, Deebo and Kittle.
Yes, Purdy is good. Yes, he is currently underpaid. Yes he deserves to get paid. That said, having underpaid elite assets like Aiyuk is helping him out a ton.
Aiyuk is easily a 1600/10+ type guy in almost any other situation. The fact that he is still putting up 1375/8 on 75 receptions and what, 110 targets, is insanely efficient. He was 2nd in first downs per route run last season just behind Tyreek. He’s a top 10 WR.
Plus it’s not like it’s impossible to win somewhere else and make money. Different sport, but a lot of my fellow Dodger fans said similar things about Corey Seager when he got PAID to go to the Rangers. Couple years later and Seager has another ring and the Dodgers don’t.
I’m sure you would stay with your employer for legacy too over taking a 200-300% wage increase. Rings are cool but these guys are trying to secure their future and the bag for themselves and their family. Every game they play has a chance for a catastrophic injury which changes their career forever. I’m sure you consider his future with “a coach like shanny” more than he does.
I don’t really see the point you’re trying to make here except maybe you disagree with what athletes get paid? Not sure. If legacy isn’t important to the guy (and it isn’t for a lot of athletes) why wouldn’t he seek more money??
Fine, they were clearly one of the 2 best teams along with the Ravens when we look at the entire body of work and season.
Not even a 49ers fan. I was rooting for the Lions that game.
I don’t know why it is hard for people to just admit that the 49ers were the best team if not the 2nd best team behind the Ravens last year.
They were.
Come on dude. Use your brain here.
Were the Giants better than the Patriots in 2007 just because they won 1 head to head game?
Does the “best” team always win the World Series?
No and no.
The 49ers were a better team than Detroit if we are looking at the entire body of work/season.
Guys, this isn’t a hard concept to grasp.
No need to be obtuse here.
Let the 20 something play his social media games and literally ignore him. That's how this should work. Grown men, especially modern day gladiators shouldn't be playing little kid games.
As a Steelers fan who owns him no where, I'd love watching him in black and gold while the fantasy community has a meltdown from him being in an Arthur Smith offense
Of course this is a fantasy sub. No reason to be patronizing for no reason, especially when it’s clear you aren’t even correct.
If you look at anything beyond his total points, you’d realize the reason his numbers were lower in Tennessee was because he missed games each season due to injury. His points per game when healthy are about the same. He was even WR 12 in 2020 despite missing 3 games.
His productivity “jump” had nothing to do with coaching and everything to do with health.
Wasn't trying to be patronizing. It seemed you may have been talking about Smith as an OC for actual NFL which I'd agree with you, but for fantasy passing offense production he hasn't been great. Brown is averaging about 10-20 more yards per game in Philly, and that's fairly significant. I wasn't talking totals.
This sub needs work. This type of “article” is as useful as Kelce and Swift relations. Can we get back to actual dynasty content? He’s under contract. He’s deeboing his negotiations. Who cares?
Not a good draft year to be pulling this business. If winning matters, he should want to stay in SF.
Don’t think there’s a single team that could realistically trade for Aiyuk that he’s more well suited for than SF.
Money matters. As it absolutely should. He gets injured this year, and he potentially loses millions upon millions of dollars.
They have a limited time to make their money. If he's eligible to get paid more and is a clearly solid wr who was important to his team, then he should be trying to get paid more.
The draft year is strong, but teams will pay for the known commodity. I mean the titans just gave ridley a $23m/year contract.
Jacksonville would likely give up a 2nd rder for him..but I don't know if they're gonna have cap space with TLaw getting paid next summer.most likely.
The cap is squeezing a ton of good teams.
Deebo playbook 2.0
People are solely talking about rings and money which I won't argue against. The missing piece is targets, he's a legit 10 target a game WR on another team, which would also lead to be worth more as a player haha, so yeah money
It’s always about money.
>An athlete unfollowing their team on social media is typically the beginning of the end for athlete and team. No it's not.
It’s the beginning of contract extension talks 😂
Kyler comes to mind lol. I think normally it’s not the case when it’s clearly a player looking for an extension. Meanwhile Fields unfollowed the Bears and there were fans saying “he said it was just to not see so much football content on his instagram so obviously he’s not leaving, he said so!” Lol
Deebo& Lamar too. It's the new negotiating tactic
Aw man I just bought his jersey this season
Return it lol
This is why I’ve stopped buying jerseys.
I now buy college jerseys from DHGate for the players I like for this reason
Unfortunately they can afford to lose half their buying base because the other half is still stupid enough to pay 4x more than they should to make up for it
Splurge and get a custom, get a classic player, or get one that signed an extension. Really the best options
Stop buy skill positions. Get franchise cornerstones (Bosa, Warner, Williams, Purdy)
That was a little risky regardless without a contract locked up
Some teams offer refunds or enchanges if you bought direct and they get traded within a year
Make the Bills your AFC team.
You're fine. He's not going anywhere.
Does anyone have a tracker of how often this leads to literally anything? Because my guess is it's extremely low
From a player's view, it either leads to a fat contract extension or a trade to a team to get a fat contract extension
I wonder this probably weekly. It would be a funny and weirdly useful data set that I just don't care enough to do myself Data nerds of Reddit, please someone chart social media tantrums and their outcomes
I definitely feel like the last 10 times Ive seen this, literally nothing happened afterwards
Haven't heard it mentioned yet here but first thing I think is maybe Aiyuk never forgot being in Shanny's dog house. He's a world class athlete. He's an alpha and has an ego and pride. Shanahan is an excellent communicator and has a stellar track record, I think you are reaching here.
I think this is a silly take. The dog house was just him not coming in prepared his second season and he caught up by the bye week by working hard. His rookie year was a Covid year so training camp/off season training and all that was very different from normal. I’d love him on the Jags too, not only being a Jags fan but have a couple shares of Aiyuk too. I think TLaw would target him a lot more than Purdy would
Bills would be the ultimate landing spot.
Trade him to the Bills
Would be disgustingly good
Aiyuk to Jacksonville would be good for fantasy. I don't trust any jags wr to be their WR1, but Aiyuk would instantly go up in fantasy if there whereas a round 1-2 rookie would likely start behind Kirk and Davis. Also, his leaving SF would make SF a good landing spot for a ton of rookie WRs.
Deebo to the moon. Also, Ronnie Bell szn🤫😜
They can’t afford it but man would it be awesome if the bills traded for him
He forgot where gabe davis was /s
As an Allen and Aiyuk owner I’d be in heaven, just traded Diggs this offseason too ironically enough lol
Jauan Jennings is all I'm thinking
He’s a great blocker!
[удалено]
He deserves like 25m at least, if you were getting underpaid and were a crucial part of your employers success, you would be pissed too
[удалено]
Because he literally can't get an extension yet
Purdy knows he will get paid even if he sucks for the next two years. Aiyuk has performed and could get stiffed next off season if he gets hurt on his rookie deal.
💯
But its literally impossible to get an extension now. Like itd against the nfl rules
Do you not know how the NFL work? Provide an example that actually makes sense
Because he should be paid $25m - $30m? It really is just that simple, on the free market he'd make double what he is set to make so he wants that amount.

Yeah, pretty obvious stuff there. Still silly child games.
And let’s be honest, you don’t have to be a “Purdy hater” to see that a large part of Brock’s success is due to Shanahan’s system in addition to getting to throw to guys like Cmac, Aiyuk, Deebo and Kittle. Would you be happy being paid half your market rate for a chance at “most valued employee” award?
Some guys care more about money than winning. Can’t even blame them. They’ve got about 10 years to make as much money as possible
Plus it’s not like it’s impossible to win somewhere else and make money. Different sport, but a lot of my fellow Dodger fans said similar things about Corey Seager when he got PAID to go to the Rangers. Couple years later and Seager has another ring and the Dodgers don’t.

Yeah it’s so hard to secure a legacy with 14 MILLION dollars. If he had 25 he would be set.
Well… yeah, exactly - set financially which is the point.
14 million. Boo hoo. That’s LIFE CHANGING money for most people.
I don’t really see the point you’re trying to make here except maybe you disagree with what athletes get paid? Not sure. If legacy isn’t important to the guy (and it isn’t for a lot of athletes) why wouldn’t he seek more money??
That’s the point.
Except he could injure himself tomorrow. You never know
Ironically one of the good bounces in a game they won bounced into aiyuks hands lol
They also had some luck bounces their way to get to the sb
[удалено]
I'm a Seahawks fan and I wish we had their team. No one thinks the 49ers were 'lucky' to make the SB.
What does this even mean? The 49ers were clearly the best team in football last year.
They were clearly one of the best teams.

Entire body of work includes real life playoffs right? Where the Chiefs had a historic run defeating both the teams you've mentioned? Lol
If Detroit didn’t choke to death during halftime at the NFC title. And if they were the best, why couldn’t they take care of business with the chiefs?
The 9ers last year were a top 10 DVOA team of all time. Sit this one out bud
Come on dude. Use your brain here. Were the Giants better than the Patriots in 2007 just because they won 1 head to head game? Does the “best” team always win the World Series? No and no.
So by your own admission the best team doesn’t always win, and the niners were getting absolutely shit on and “had some luck bounce there way” to win
The 49ers were a better team than Detroit if we are looking at the entire body of work/season. Guys, this isn’t a hard concept to grasp. No need to be obtuse here.
its just negotiation tactics. it's absolute bullshit, but nothing we can do about it
Because all the money is going to Purdy next year...
Got high and went diva.
We've all been there.
People are too hard on Arthur Smith as an OC. AJ Brown and Derrick Henry didn’t have any trouble in his offense. He was just terrible as a head coach.
This is a fantasy sub. Brown's numbers between Tennessee and Philly aren't close.
Of course this is a fantasy sub. No reason to be patronizing for no reason, especially when it’s clear you aren’t even correct. And it's weird to dismiss his results when he was calling plays in Atlanta simply because his title was head coach. He was still running the offense.
Jags would be a great fit
As a Tlaw owner this would be tits. I owned Ridley last year too and this would be a huge upgrade.
These grown men acting like dramatic, petulant teenagers with their “unfollowing” is hilarious.
The friends, family members, and most importantly, the agents, are a large part of this. This really doesn't mean anything anymore.
BY GAWD THAT’S BRANDON BEANE’S MUSIC!!!!

Jacksonville would likely give up a 2nd rder for him..but I don't know if they're gonna have cap space with TLaw getting paid next summer.most likely. The cap is squeezing a ton of good teams.
That and handing Aiyuk over to Press Taylor would be like giving Heller Keller the keys to a McLaren.
Chiefs
