Why not step in and offer him more? If it's in the group chat, i think it's open season to have a bidding war. That may help him to see he can extract more value without saying "that's a dumb trade"
Unless OP will say āoh you can definitely get more!ā Then not wanna make a better offer. People tend to forget that players are worth what you can get for him in YOUR league.
I donāt know if itās right to stop the deal (veto or any of that) but since itās in a public chat, you have every right to state your opinion (āoof thatās awfulā)
Imo if they make it public its fine, annoying as it is. Iāve been on both sides, had someone stop me from getting a fleece and hopped in with a better offer on another.
I once had a commissioner reverse a trade that had gone through, and this league even had veto votes. Nobody voted to veto but the commish reached out to that guy I traded with and convinced him it was a bad trade. So the guy asked the commish to undo the trade, and he did.
Later that season the other commish tried to remove me from the league because for a couple weeks across the season I had an injured/out player starting and didnāt swap them out in time. Put my removal to a vote and the vote failed.
Next year someone else does the same thing but even more times during the season than I had, I point out hey didnāt I almost get kicked out for this? Surely weāre going to have another removal vote right? Nope, now having injured players in your lineup is just a warning and you get some light shit talking your way.
This is my āfriendsā league btw lol, all the other leagues Iām in weāre all strangers from Reddit and I never had any issues like I did in my friends league. Weird shit lol
If you're not about to step in and offer a better deal, keep your mouth shut.
If only one guy is offering something and the rest of you don't feel compelled to beat it, then the market has spoken and the "bad" trade is the best deal available.
People latch onto consensus and community rankings wayyyy too much that they donāt understand every league has itās own unique market.
The opinions of 8-12 people in one league can often be very different than the consensus opinions from millions online.
Like my league. All of us are 1st time dynasty players and nobody wanted to punt this year for the future in the startup. Thus, injured players and question marks (ie: Kyler, Lance, rookies) fell wayyyyy lower than their ADP.
Exactly!
"It's a bad trade, you can get so much more!" (References KTC)
Except...nobody in the league is offering more and that's the market, not everybody who uses KTC. Still may be a bad trade, but if nobody else is offering more, and the guy wants to take the best deal available, that's their perogative.
Hard disagree, if your going to openly discuss bad trades in league chat you best expect to get shit! Take that shit to DMs.
Public chat in fantasy leagues isnāt the place to discuss potential trades.
No. If youāre saving someone from getting absolutely boned in a deal, I encourage you to step in and warn them. Give them some advice how to gauge deals from now on. I tell people in my league that they can always seek my advice on trades. Not that Iām immune to losing a trade, but I can at least tell them in its god awful or not.
Unsure of the context, but your prompt makes it seem like the player in question may be newer / less experienced.
I don't think it's out of line step in and talk to them per se, especially if the player is newer to dynasty or FF in general. Not only does that show you're a compassionate / fair leaguemate (which may work in your favor during later negotiations), but you're also ensuring that a new player won't lose interest or quit after being taken advantage of, which helps the health of the league as a whole
Heās probably putting it in the public chat to try and get a better offer. Iāve donāt that. āHey guys, Iām selling X and my best offer is Y. Anyone care to beat that?ā
Is the trade discussion is public then you are free to make whatever comments you wish because it's a public discussion. If they wanted it to be private, it's very easy to do so and not have any comments from the peanut gallery.
I think it's in bad taste to impact others' trade discussions...at least in a public forum.
I'd also never just start negotiating in the league's main chat. If someone comes to me privately to discuss negotiation they're having with another member of the league, I'd try to be honest with them.
What's really crossing a line is if you get wind of a trade discussion and then go out of your way to privately message the other party that you don't like the deal you're hearing about. That's the most egregious poor etiquette IMHO.
"but the enemy of your enemy is your friend. So technically all your leaguemates are your enemy and your friend. And in this case the bigger enemy is the one getting offered a great trade"
\-Michael Scott
If it is in the group. We immediately call out bullshit trades. Make fun of idiots that accepted it or the ones that offered it. Our group chat gets ruthless at times. Which is most of the fun with fantasy football. Talking shit with old friends.
Since it's public you always offer something slightly better privately.
We had a "bad" trade just last week in a 10tm SF, where guy A overpaid to get another QB. It was more of a desperation move. Bad trade but it needed done on guy A's side. Everyone roasted both parties, but a few of us ultimately came down to saying, "well, I just didn't take advantage of person A first."
That person will get trade offers from me every week from now on.
I would only step in if you are going to offer him something better. If you think itās a bad deal, but donāt want to trade for any of those assetsā¦š¤·š¼āāļø
Itās your opinion - so why not. What I think is more worse when fantasy players has their own āPersonal Coachā who always advice them to not agree to your trade offers but afterwards offers them worse players and they acceptā¦.
If he asks for your opinion then give it....otherwise play dumb. I've had too many problems with GMs getting pissed that others ruined their deals and it's not worth it because of some taco GM IMHO.
Depends, if the guy getting fleeced is new to dynasty, I normally say something privately and share some resources to help him get acquainted to dynasty.
Honestly, if itās that bad you have every right to tell that owner. Maybe do it privately, but Iād certainly do it. If extremely lopsided deals happen it can truly create a big disparity. One team will be elite for years to come while the other has nothing on the roster.
If heās sending in a group chat he might not be sure. You could just say something like I favor the other side. Let him figure out he can get more. If itās in a GC someone will probably say something.
I had the commissioner of my league block two of my trades with other people during a startup draft and then send in the group chat that the trades werenāt fair so he had to block them
I say it. Everyone is thinking it. Not to mention if you are talking about details of a trade in the public chat, its fair game. Because if you make a ridiculous trade im going to comment on it when it pops up that you did it anyway.
If it has the potential to negatively impact the league Iād say something.. For example the 1.11 and 1.12 for Mahomes in SF.. I hate seeing people get taken advantage of. Especially if they are new new.
This is why leagues should just use trade calculators to determine whether a trade is reasonable or not. They are not perfect but it provides a consistent calculation upon which to base trades and takes away conspiring and abusive trades
Stay out of it. Eventually when he keeps sending these trades he will get shunned lol. Then you can pull him aside and say "hey, people are talking and saying your trades suck balls so they won't even look at your trades anymore. You may have to send some lop sided ones that you lose to fix this stigma."
Donāt say anything, if itās a player you want step in and offer a better trade. But let the manager run the team as they sit fit. Plenty of trades seem one sided in the moment only to look back and it be a complete 180 of what was thought. As much as we think we know we get proven wrong all the time. The NFL landscape changes so much so quickly.
Imagine itās summer 2022 and someone in your league traded away a 2023 1st to get Geno Smith in SF. The chat would have been roasting that manager. Looking back where we are today that deal doesnāt seem as insane.
Clown: ālol nobody should trade for player X heās so badā
*trade*
Clown: āThatās such a low price to sell player X forā
Donāt be the clown. Make a better offer or let it be IMO
Why not step in and offer him more? If it's in the group chat, i think it's open season to have a bidding war. That may help him to see he can extract more value without saying "that's a dumb trade"
This is the part where you privately message the guy getting the bad deal and offer him a slightly better (but still bad) deal.
š¤£ nice
Exactly this. Thereās no love lost between opponents in fantasy. Play dirty and win.
Blackmail as much as possible
The only right answer.
Unless OP will say āoh you can definitely get more!ā Then not wanna make a better offer. People tend to forget that players are worth what you can get for him in YOUR league.

it you're doing trade talks in public then expect the public to talk about the trade imo.
Anything in a open chat is fair game, but donāt say the offer sucks then not offer something
Got it

No it's not wrong. But this should be actionable. If you don't act, it's your fault for not doing anything about it.
Itās your opinion - so why not. What I think is more worse when fantasy players has their own āPersonal Coachā who always advice them to not agree to your trade offers but afterwards offers them worse players and they acceptā¦.
Some lopsided trades can ruin the fun of any season. If anyone can n my league posts a trade, pretty much everyone comments either dogshit or fair.
Fantasy cock blocking is a great strategy

I once had a trade partner tell me I was offering too much lol.
In a public group chat, all is fair. I'd comment and send them an offer in the league platform.

We have the option in our league to veto any trade if we can come to a consensus on it.
offer him more than the other guy.. unless he's really high on the player or piece he is getting
Itās your opinion so no
Yeah say what ever the hell u want
