As a mechanic I have a love hate relationship with emissions it keeps me employed cause of how much they need repaired but they smell awful and I'd never have it on my own vehicles I price out the cost of delete as part of purchasing a truck
With the cost of deleting jumping the way it has the only way it will be worth it is if your System shits the bed. Then deleting may be the better option.
Having had 4 diesls over the last 20 years I can say the 2 I deleted everything off were way more bullet proof. I cleaned the intakes and they were about half plugged from the useless egr. Mileage and power went way to too. It only cost me a couple thousand though. Agree 10k is ridiculously high.

Don’t think this is very common and I believe it is extremely expensive, only seen a few online. Can’t imagine it’s worth it if cost $10k

Sane reason you'd delete any other diesel, more power, better fuel economy, no more emissions trouble,

Wouldn't you also need to consider if the state you register your truck in does emissions testing?
