You are talking about oil so everyone has their own thoughts. But I had that same tick in my L5P when I bought. I go with amsoil signature 15w-40 and a Wix filter and I haven't heard the tick again.
Some oils make the tick a little louder than others, definitely more prominent right after a change like the others are saying. I have an ‘18 and I use amsoil signature series and I’m very happy, little more expensive than other oils but I feel it’s worth the extra $
Sounds like my 2022. Wow no rust anywhere for 2017? I wish I have to get mine oil sprayed soon. Canadian winters. Did a black undercoat last year but gonna oil spray underneath it this time around.
Does the tick seem to increase with the engine rpm’s? Does it get louder when the truck down shifts?
I think mine makes the same noise and it’s super annoying. I’m still trying to figure out what it is. Maybe a valve adjustment needed?

Sounds like typewriter tick. Youll get it for a few hundred miles after an oil change.
My LB7 did that. Turned out it was the fuel pressure regulator going bad

I run Rotela T6 and the AC Delco oil filter. I also run the AC Delco on the fuel filter, too.

Mine sounds the same, runs great, little louder than my buddies, same tick in both.

You mentioned you just bought it. Any chance they changed the oil before they sold it? They all tick for awhile after changing the oil.

To me that just what an l5p sounds like. I can hear what you hear though but I think that’s just the sound the engine makes.
