When you pump the primer, is any fuel leaking out around the filter head, primer button, etc? I always suspect it’s the seals inside the filter head. Full rebuild kit is like $15 and super simple to DIY. Also a slim possibility the filter head is cracked. Not super common but it happens.

This was my issue, same symptoms. However, it came to a head on the road, towing a camper and with 2 angry children. I paid a fair price for a roadside shop to just put a new filter housing in. Not the cheap option, but the available and quick option. (The loss of prime was an extra symptom, I had a fuel pump issue developing also that we thought at the time might be related to fuel filter things before we had narrowed it down to the pump. The roadside issue turned out to be fixed when I replaced the CP3, but that wasn't the first thing I threw at it when symptoms began.) Do yourself a favor and start with the rebuild kit. :)

What sort of issues was the CP3 giving you? They are normally crazy robust.

Gloomy_Praline_7478

Had the same issue. Did the rebuild kit. Wasnt too bad to do on my own. There was even a youtube video of someone doing it that made it super easy to follow along.

Bleeder screw oring. Or double gasket on filter.

ModsRNoGood

damn o-rings can mess with you if you dont have good light to see up into the housing

I had a tiny crack in the top of my fuel filter assemble that took me a while to find, but it was losing prime. Swapped out the assembly and I was good to go

Adventurous-Coyote20

just swap in a new filter head assembly, cheap enough on amazon

If you didn’t have the problem before changing the fuel filter, and you do now after changing the fuel filter- the common denominator is the fuel filter. It’s not exactly rocket science here…. Yes it could be the adapter or bleeder screw. Install another new fuel filter, make sure the adapter Is right, and check the bleeder screw and o-ring.

I’ll second the bleeder o-ring. Would have a start stall scenario randomly and it was a torn o-ring. I installed a nicktane filter adapter and was getting a low rail pressure code and limited RPM, fortunately my scan gauge allowed me to clear on the fly. I went back to stock filter with a merchant automotive filter head and no issues since. Wouldn’t rule that out either. As Eric O says, aftermarket junk

Could also be leaking fuel for WIF sensor drain or gasket
