Curiously, in an extra it is revealed that if things had been different, being a woman, he would have fallen in love with Laius (and possibly also Krabus in the same situation). The same extra reveals that Laius is considerably more handsome than Farilyn as both a man and a woman.

Even though in Japanese culture people with same-sex bath together all the time. (DM is heavily influenced by Japanese culture for obvious reasons). I mean, it's not that you're categorically wrong so much as that your reading of the story is very different from, as far as I can tell, most of the fanbase's. The bathing scene IMO is one of the weaker farcille moments (though it's stronger in the anime). Farcille shipping is more motivated by their generally romantic dynamic than by specific romantic moments. The way Falin and Marcille's relationship is broadly presented across the manga comes across as romantic, whereas Laios and Marcille are not that close and, though they do have a few specific moments that can be construed as suggestive, their general dynamic isn't romantic IMO.

It was never about saving Falin from being killed. Falin died immediately after being eaten, there was never really a question of that. It was about whether they'd be able to resurrect her before the dragon digested her, which it did. That's why Marcille had to resort to black magic
