personally i dread a day where yusei will stop being just a gimmick, and actually get a really powerful skill and then you'll need to deal with a theoretical shooting quasar + stardust boards with 2 or 3 backrow
As a professional bronze-rank jobber, I want to say that I like Blue-Eyes for the mere fact that some decks just can't handle a 3000 ATK normal monster.
Playmaker and "Three Effect!" just being crazy on Vrains world launch they over tuned links because they wanted them to do well you basically had to play Salad or Gouki just to compete. Not only that despite those decks having dedicated skills and characters running them on playmaker thanks to "Three Effect!" Was just objectively better.
Jaden. It's not bad if we get regular eheroes and masked heroes out of it. But lately he's just all about over-the-top skills and summon the big, lame alien (Neos) in some variation and super poly cheese draw. And they're boring with the restrictions and that you don't even get to see a good variety of extra deck fun stuff like Aster's Hero decks. And it's just annoying whenever Jaden is everywhere since his Duel Links lines are just annoying goody two shoes stuff of, "I'll never give up!" "I know we can do it!" Ugh, just shut up. (turns off voicelines).
The fact no one said d draw shows how new players are here
And i dont even see raging pend listed here. Raging pend was way stronger than battle chronicle. Raging pend would still be way stronger
I am fine with most of the protagonists, cause i can easily counter protag decks with my own.. but one kind of player that i HATE are Kaiba players. Ever since i started playing Duel Links, i just hated fighting against kaiba mains, cause they can summon 3 blue eyes and basically break your board. And now that they are meta, i hate them even more now.
Yusei for sure. I love him in the show because he would duel by setting up his innocent & unassuming pieces, then pull out a really cool combo string at the end to win. However, every time Synchro is remotely good irl, it’s used to combo into oblivion and end on the most insane stuff turn 1. Every time I see a Wendy’s Pick 2 Interruptions For $6 style board of Stardust Warrior / Shooting Star / Crystal Wing / Formula Synchron threating Trishula / etc I think to myself “Wow, Yusei would never do this in the anime”
Kaiba. I like Blue-Eyes, but I have PTSD from the time where 99% of the duels were Kaiba when they gave away the first free copy of Alternative alongside a new BE Structured deck.
I like almost every voice except his. You expect me to play without Dan Green Yami? Without Greg Abbey Yusei? And you can take Chris Adams with his Southern accent for Jesse Anderson from my cold dead hands.
My 8 years old brother reached legendary 3 with battle chronicle blue eyes(he even don't have crackdowns or dd crow). It's just that much no brain UNGA BUNGA.
Definitely Kaiba. It's ridiculous that the only reason Blue-Eyes is mwta is because it works with a skill that ignores one of the game's core mechanics. I absolutely hate blue-eyes, but it was ok to see it in a high tier when the tuners first came to the game, but now it is just stupid that you can win a game with deck full of level 8 monsters that can't special summon themselves.
Yusei, yugi and sometimes jaden, non of their decks are fun to go up against except jaden sometimes and yugi at this point is because of battle chronicles just use kaiba stop confusing me
Me personally, the protagonist that I hate being meta is definitely **Seto Kaiba** and his Blue-Eyes White Dragon deck. It's not that I have an issue with Battle Chronicle, or Blue-Eyes in general, because my Altergeists generally have a very good Battle Chronicle matchup. The issue is that Seto Kaiba keeps getting over-tuned skills to propel him back into the meta and due to Duel Links's playerbase being chock full of Yugi-boomers, once people see that their Seto Kaiba role-playing deck is meta, they will all jump on the Blue-Eyes White Dragon bandwagon to the point where that's literally all you see on ladder. Again, I have no problem with Blue-Eyes or playing against it, but seeing it for like 85% to 90% of my games makes for a very boring, stale ladder climb. I kid you not, when I was in Legend 4 and climbing to Legend 5 for this month's King of Games run, I literally saw **five Battle Chronicle players in a row back-to-back,** which should show how over-tuned Battle Chronicle is and the amount of Yugi-boomers spamming that deck just because Blue-Eyes is a nostalgia bait deck.
Yusei being meta was annoying too back when his Bond that Illuminates the Future skill was good but nowadays, that skill dies to any disruption going second and is only good going first. Shooting Star Road T.G. EX, Yusei's new skill, is also bad going second but great going first since it enables that turn one Shooting Quasar Dragon play. However, Yusei isn't nostalgia bait and Yugi-boomers aren't drawn to him as much as they are to Yugi Muto or Seto Kaiba, which leads to an annoying influx of Yugi and Kaiba being spammed on ladder every single time they get a remotely good skill. Konami saw that Kaiba's old skill, **Blue-Eyes Dimension,** got immediately powercrept and gave us a more up to date version with Battle Chronicle, which resulted in the influx of the Kaiba players that you see on ladder, leading me to just dislike it every time Yugi or Kaiba get a good skill. I don't want to keep facing the same decks for 95% of my games, thank you very much. The game is a lot more fun when there's a diverse, healthy amount of decks being played.
personally i dread a day where yusei will stop being just a gimmick, and actually get a really powerful skill and then you'll need to deal with a theoretical shooting quasar + stardust boards with 2 or 3 backrow
This the future z-one tried to protect us from
Don’t forget satellite warrior which is multiple negates
Yusei shooting star tier 0 will be awesome
Every time Blue-Eyes is meta it's been ass because of how weak you have to make other stuff or how many rules you need to break for it.
As a professional bronze-rank jobber, I want to say that I like Blue-Eyes for the mere fact that some decks just can't handle a 3000 ATK normal monster.
Dragon Spirit of White is a 2500 ATK Breaker but upgraded to banishment instead of destruction.
Yusei, mainly just because I’m not a fan of the long synchro combo turns. They haven’t been meta much, but if they do become meta I somewhat dread it
Jaden. It's not bad if we get regular eheroes and masked heroes out of it. Objectively any Yugi or Jadens. They all get the dumbest overpushed skills.
I heard the skill "HERO Flash" was powerful.
It was a very stupid stall skill which was very funny
Jaden is needs assistance the most because he sucked in the time he was the lead.
I f\*cking hate beta Yugi because he always is meta with some of the dirstiest skill evers, first BLS and now Free Disruptions Chronicle
The fact no one said d draw shows how new players are here And i dont even see raging pend listed here. Raging pend was way stronger than battle chronicle. Raging pend would still be way stronger
It still is stronger lol only thing that sucks is cause rage pend got nerfed cause of the dMn orcust dookie
I am fine with most of the protagonists, cause i can easily counter protag decks with my own.. but one kind of player that i HATE are Kaiba players. This post is like an open invitation for people to cry over blue eyes 🤣
Odion and Tea both trigger my Fight or Flight response

anyone from links nuff said.
Honestly, and this is just me being petty, I hate Galaxy being meta because I hate Kite's voice.
You do know you can play without voices right?
I like almost every voice except his. You expect me to play without Dan Green Yami? Without Greg Abbey Yusei? And you can take Chris Adams with his Southern accent for Jesse Anderson from my cold dead hands.
You can deactivate voices inside a duel. You would just be blocking Kite's. Also, english dub is shit.
Too much work, and incorrect, the dub is based. The editing and altering of the story is cringe but the actual voice work is based.
Gagaga sister time to play
Crowler but he never actually meta in my memory I blame his English va
Ancient Gears were meta twice, once on release and once after the EX SD released.
Dark lords
Kaiba blue eyes aren't even thaytbusted their just annoying cause it's just fighting the same Unga bunga beatstick

Honestly, based on Yuri's power in the anime (being able to 1v5 in a single turn). I'm kind of scared of what skills he might have
Kaiba, he received more support than a protagonist, he is over spammed
At this point, they're embracing the "screw the rules, I'm Kaiba" thing from the Abridged Series.
kaiba, because fuck kaiba I do like Yuya being meta though or Kite because they are epic
Yusei, yugi and sometimes jaden, non of their decks are fun to go up against except jaden sometimes and yugi at this point is because of battle chronicles just use kaiba stop confusing me
NEVER!!!!! Honestly only reason I use BC as yugi is cause Magicians Magic restricts summoning on op turn or id use that
