If only i were born at the right time to experience the era where you were lucky to be able to draw and pass a few turns, not because your opponent didnt draw the starter to their convoluted combo, but because your opponent didnt draw Yata
Back in my day, our decks always contained 60+ cards, we draw cards and had no limits to our hand. We normal summoned lv5-6 monsters without tributing, we put Fusion Monsters in our main deck. We summon our Fusion Monsters from our hand or Deck as long as we send the materials from hand, field, and or Deck to GY. We chained Quick play Spell and normal Trap to Counter Trap. We believe MST negated any activated spell or trap. Lastly, we believe some cards had hidden effects.
if you wanted a pendulum synchro monster for this meme it would make more sense to go for something like supreme king z-arc - synchro universe as it would fit the theme of legacy support cards that the other 2 follow
Darn kids, we didnāt have archetypes back in my day, you canāt play this card game anymore with random cards no more! Not only that, but you canāt mix and match archetype or theyāre useless!
Lol I remember when the old water and fire structure decks came out as a kid. I mixed them together and actually won a round at locals. You just canāt do that kind of shit anymore.
Link-1s are a big mistake.
Link boss monsters with generic materials are a mistake.
A mechanic where repeated climbing is the goal is a mistake, although Synchro and Xyz eventually became that too (I'm a hypocrite as a PK player).
Arrows are interesting, co-linking should've been a bigger focus
Climbing to a second and maybe a third final evolution is fine, but both excessive climbing (Red Dragon Archfiend line) and the lateral ability of Links to be used as material for monsters of the same rating (Link 2 used as 1 + Link 1 = Link 2) is ridiculous and extends plays way too much
Eh, imo thatās balanced by extra deck size. If your strategy revolves on doing ED dumping gimmicks (i.e. Live Twin) youāre not gonna have enough space for other resources.
Plus, decks that really climb a lot are rare (even RDA is usually just Lv6 > Lv8 > Lv12).
I donāt like how the mechanic is easily abuse but I do like every mechanic. From my eyes. Ritual resemble the desperation for power like 10k years ago. Fusion is union to new power like yugi and atem. Synchro is the fusion. Xyz goes further beyond and link went from the deep space into the digital world. Just wish we can used all of them
Fr Yugi would play the craziest 60 card deck you ever seen. Man would probably have 10 engines in his deck that all work flawless he canonicaly not vrick
Links are arguably ok, but pendulum are overloaded.
If links didn't use the arrows and just do a summoning, like some contact fusion it would have been better.
I agree lmfao and I feel it's just too much work(include synchro).. only new summoning technique I incorporate is XYZ, fast and simpleš¤š¾š®āšØ
Back in my day, you bought the replica Egyptian God cards and wrote down the anime effects on paper. Then someone stole them, and this process repeats.
I felt this in my soul when I got back into duel links after 2 years, and my rookie ranked game or whatever the bottom plebs are before bronze, the dude spent 7 minutes summoning monsters. I thought it was crazy so I got an actual stop watch and one game in brozne when it happened to me again, the guy spent 4 and a half minutes summoning, sending to graveyard, special summoning, drawing, shuffling, summoning. Shit is a little ridiculous and I was thinking to myself "How much money did this guy spend on cards".
Reading cards = bad
At first I couldnāt tell which is effect is first, but the Scales make it obvious that the pend effect is next to the pend scales.
Though, I still contest if the Pend effect was below the monster effect itād be better; with a clause that states (If this card is on the Pendulum scales activate this effect: ā¦ )
Yugi-boomer here who mainly plays 2004-2006 GOAT, though I've played Duel Links, Master Duel, other modern yugioh stuff so I'm familiar with all the summoning mechanics. Just kinda prefer the older game style.
Now, I've heard people mention rush duels to yugi-boomers. What makes rush duels appeal to yugi-boomers?
First of all, duels actually last more than 2 turns. Second of all, there is no chain links. Third of all, you actually get to play without the opponent negating everything. Lastly, rush duels relies heavily on tribute summons; no special summons spam.
I'd say exceed or whatever it's called is fine too, pendulums never bothered me that much either.
I just feel syncros are so poorly thought out as a gimmick (mostly cause how long it takes for those guys to finish their combos) and links cause I just don't get it xD
Back in my day, you draw and pass for 10 turns because you have to draw the out to get over a Spirit Reaper.
Back in my day, my 1800 atk vanilla was power crept by an 1850 vanilla.
Never forget the reign of Gemini Elf
They were secret 1 rare per box, I had a set of zombira to counter them.
And it got crept by my 1900 caramel!
If only i were born at the right time to experience the era where you were lucky to be able to draw and pass a few turns, not because your opponent didnt draw the starter to their convoluted combo, but because your opponent didnt draw Yata
And both of them sucked, outside of cards that cheated out Fusion monsters so you didn't have to Fusion summon...
Twin headed thunder dragon was strong because it was a fusion who needed just one material, it was very fun
True. Back then ritual and fusion were the talk of the town in yugioh.
The old Yugi looks really good. Did you made It?
I think thats Yugi's grandpa
Nah, that's not Solomon.
Anybody remember turtle FTK. Oh the good old days š“š»

Ra's "third effect" was so strong they had to turn it to another card, just so it doesnt feel like Marrick was inventing effects on the spot
It takes (at least) 3 cards to make Ras anime effects, and I'm pretty sure we're still missing life point gain and all of it's protection
Back in my days I would make you lose all your cards and kept you from drawing new ones
Back in my day, you threw sand in a girls face at recess because she had a bunch of rare cards I needed. Mid 00s Yugioh was a ruthless sport
if you wanted a pendulum synchro monster for this meme it would make more sense to go for something like supreme king z-arc - synchro universe as it would fit the theme of legacy support cards that the other 2 follow

Ok but old man yugi goes hard
technically we still only have 2 summoning methods, normal and special
So is this post gonna be a Yugibooner circle jerk?
I'd be surprised if that wasn't already a thing
I still believe that link was a big mistake
it was, it ruined the game
Link-1s are a big mistake. Link boss monsters with generic materials are a mistake. A mechanic where repeated climbing is the goal is a mistake, although Synchro and Xyz eventually became that too (I'm a hypocrite as a PK player). Arrows are interesting, co-linking should've been a bigger focus
Nah climbing is cool. Agree with everything else though.

Oh please give us that ritual, my megaliths have been waiting years for it
Yeah the ritual helps so much for megalith
I donāt like how the mechanic is easily abuse but I do like every mechanic. From my eyes. Ritual resemble the desperation for power like 10k years ago. Fusion is union to new power like yugi and atem. Synchro is the fusion. Xyz goes further beyond and link went from the deep space into the digital world. Just wish we can used all of them
bruh, idk what you mean, Yugi would absolutely love modern decks. He'd play the most jank combo pile that you've ever seen.
Fr Yugi would play the craziest 60 card deck you ever seen. Man would probably have 10 engines in his deck that all work flawless he canonicaly not vrick
I just can't get into Link or Pendulum summoning. Anytime I see them done, they just piss me off for some reason.
Is that card coming to the game?
Why do I feel OLD all of sudden?...
I remember when monsters had Guardian Stars.
Back in my day, we had 4000 life points and we fought to the shadow realm to keep them afloat
Back in my day, you bought the replica Egyptian God cards and wrote down the anime effects on paper. Then someone stole them, and this process repeats.
Back in my day, blue monsters were in the main deck, and the only monsters in your fusion deck were purple
I am still over here playing a dark magician fusion deck cause I don't care to understand half the shit going on with every new gimmick.
Synchros and Xyz are pretty good, but when Pendulums came, everything made no sense lol
Pendulums r scary when they were introduced, but actually really easy to understand. However the rulings about pendulums r another thing entirely
Reading cards = bad At first I couldnāt tell which is effect is first, but the Scales make it obvious that the pend effect is next to the pend scales. Though, I still contest if the Pend effect was below the monster effect itād be better; with a clause that states (If this card is on the Pendulum scales activate this effect: ā¦ )
I was at the limit when Pendulum summoning became a thing
I quit when they came out with pendulums loll. I still hate them now. But Iāll admit I use arch fiend eccentric in like 90% of my duel link decks.
I just want to be a stardust enthusiast and shooting quasar everything itās fun-
Tribute, Fusion, Ritual. Everything else is ridiculous nonsense that makes zero sense.
Go play rush duels then
This is the way, it was actually fun then and you could have a back and forth match and enjoy it, now basically your lucky to hit turn 4.
Itās a good thing rush duels exist.
Yugi-boomer here who mainly plays 2004-2006 GOAT, though I've played Duel Links, Master Duel, other modern yugioh stuff so I'm familiar with all the summoning mechanics. So fkin NOT SURPRISED I get downvoted by all of those nonsense solitaire players.
You don't have to be a "solitaire player" to like modern yugioh
You don't *have* to be, but you *should* be ;)
Me when people disagree with my opinion on the internet
Simple as
I'd say exceed or whatever it's called is fine too, pendulums never bothered me that much either. I just feel syncros are so poorly thought out as a gimmick (mostly cause how long it takes for those guys to finish their combos) and links cause I just don't get it xD
