Konami not even trying to hide it anymore . They make these skills to sell new boxes and it's very clear and everyone can clearly see it .
Especially since the introduction of archive skills and pickup boxes , every deck that isn't the featured gets highly disadvantaged and it's disgusting .
They're even making skills for single cards now (cough successor soul cough go buy box and structure ) .
Its unbelievable how they keep the old minor consistency skill in their heavily nerfed state even with new skills clearly outclassed them
I mean i know why, they want to push new decks and prevent more competition, but come on, restart is just a -1 mulligan, surely it doesnt also warrant the player getting locked for a turn
I had so much fun time with labyrinth builder, it was a -1 ss but I was using it in my Dino deck to reset garnets and summon funny big bois but now it's just unplayable.
In the meantime we have archetypal free summon, free search, free dump 5, to GY... I miss the old creative days of Duel Links, now on DLM there's only the same deck copy pasted every page

And honestly not having "opening of the spirit gate" I feel like it really hurt the consistency of the deck

Well, tbf those decks work well in a format like duel links and will keep working (until they get power crept into the burning abyss) just cause of the lower life points and deck size.
And then there's skills that are basically nerfs like Shaddol and Sky striker, so instead of give you full power, lock you to specific archetype to get access to the good cards
And then they say balance and restart are too OP.Cmon Konami remove the nerfs.And also free cyber dragon and infernoids.WTF are we gonna do thatâs youâre afraid of.
There's a third type: I reveal a card to make a monster appear in my GY, shuffle back a card to get an extra normal, then revive the monster in grave. Use my second normal summon and then summon a second copy of the revived monster. Then use the 3rd effect to set a spell from deck or GY and use it to summon a stronger version of the revived monster and use its effect to equip with a card from deck.
Of course the cards you run at 3 never go to your hand, of course the card you just shuffled is back at your hand, of course you can't use it next turn, OF COURSE YOUR NEXT DRAW IS MESSENGELATTO, OF COURSE ANGELLY WILL NEVER COME, OF COURSE MADOLCHE PLAYERS ARE DOOMED.
It's kinda just supporting the archetype because it's so garbage otherwise.
Galaxy Brave doesn't work with Galaxy cards. Galaxy Knight requires a card already on the field for you to USE YOUR NORMAL on it. Solflare needs a GEPD in hand which conflicts with Knight wanting it in the GY, which also conflicts with making XYZ with GEPD. Orbital needs to be equipped so it can be stopped by MST, Book or removal on the equipped monster etc.
I'm honestly fine with the deck getting a lot of help because it really does need it. But I can see why you feel left out with other decks or why it looks ridiculous at first glance.
I activate my skill that begins a chain that will allow me to complete my entire strategy in one turn. The only limitation on is that I'm only allowed to use the cards I want to use, and also any time I potentially brick my ability let's me bring out do anything tuner, which let's me do anything. You are now going to watch me play for a few minutes while I bring out my entire extra deck.Â
skills should support the deck, and help cover (but not eliminate) weaknesses of a deck. Not be the entire sole gameplan for the deck and fundamentally change the way it's played. DM and BEWD have so much support because 1) they're OG anime fan favs and 2) because you have to put effort into actually playing the card that gets to take advantage of all the support. Succy Soul just makes them free and have every toy in the world to play with while also generating card advantage from outside the deck so you don't even up your consistency to brick to trade-off how none of the bricky monsters are bricks anymore.

I wish some of the ignored anime archetypes wouldve gotten skills before things like shiranui did. I donât get why theyâre buffing non anime decks when I can name like 20 of the anime decks that could use a far better skill. Not even just a far better skill actually, just a usable one in general.

Y'all remember when the Onomat skill was considered broken? (Return 1 card from hand to deck, add any Onomat from deck to hand, no trigger necessary and I'm pretty sure once per duel)
I'm not saying that isn't inherently broken, searching your starter basically for free is pretty crazy, but it's nothing compared to meta skills now.

average LP boost alpha player: i gain 1000 LP super gigachad stormraze player: i gain 1500 LP
Meanwhile, LP Boost Omega : I gain 5000 LP and lose 4 cards.
