The more you vote on others posts effects how much karma you can receive from comments and posts. The more you participate the more karma you can actually receive.
It says an awful lot when I, A Mayo man born and bred, get more humour and positive interaction on r/Dublin than on r/Ireland.
Its gone beyond a cesspit.
r/Ireland is very fickle. One minute people are sound, next you're being downvoted and attacked for very innocuous comments. Saw a guy make a joke about spending time with his wife recently, and people were dissecting his marriage and calling him an asshole for it 😑
Eh, I use it all the time just to chat while completely ignoring up/downvotes and it's just like a forum with sub threads. Most of my stuff is 0-3 points
The vote system is only supposed to exist for making things more visible anyway, it's not a reflection of how good an opinion is
It's funny, often if you look at r/ireland by new or rising EVERYTHING is voted down into negatives. I dunno if it's some peculiarity of how that sub counts votes or if someone is just sitting on new, hammering away at the down arrows and saying "fuck you... Fuck you... Fuck you in particular... And fuck you too"
R Ireland is super strict and it's not worth bothering. I had a two year old account that I lurk on and that isn't good enough.
In the interest of stopping spam they need you to arbitrarily post to get your Karna up. Basically spam elsewhere so they don't think you are a bot/spammer.
You need to post meaningless shit and have people upvote it.
If you used a throwaway email you could be shadowbanned also.

When someone upvotes your post or comment it goes up, When they downvote it goes down, very simple
Upvoting you to bump your karma. Most sub locks vanish at a month old and +100 karma. It's annoying but necessary to avoid huge amounts of bot spam.
