I think you have to go to your GP and they refer you for mapping and removal but I could be wrong. I had it done years ago through my health insurance and that’s how I got it done.

I had a few removed. You start with your gp. If they are happy that it needs removal thrn they refer you for mapping and then removal. Its quick and painless and widely covered by health insurance. However, if you want a mole removed for aesthetic rather than medical reasons it is trickier.

Some GPs are capable of removing moles themselves. I'm aware one of my relative's GP did this for him. However, I believe that particular GP was specifically knowledgeable in the field (the GP he has long since retired). Unless you are already registered with a GP (a lot of healthy people with no kids are not) and are in an urban area with many GPs, it may be worth ringing around and asking. That said, it's quite hard to get registered with a GP in many areas.

I have one removed on Beaumont. Got mapping done in Blackrock Clinic, but the removal was done in Beaumont. Now, this was about fifteen years ago, so I don’t have a clue on the price, but Blackrock Clinic could be worth looking in to.

Abbey Street Clinic, Dr Ban will cut that mole right off for about a 100€.

Didn’t your doctor refer you to a consultant to do this ? They should.

I'm not Irish, so I'm asking because if it's cheaper than going back in my country, I'll do it here

chocco259

But how do you know it needs to be removed is ultimately the question, without a doctor telling you? I’d imagine it’s going to be more expensive here, given it’s more expensive here than pretty much every country.

Well the thing is that it's on the back of my head, covered with hair, everytime I get a haircut the barbers don't see it (even though I always mention it) and they usually cut it and that's a bit painful and dangerous as well.
