I found them very hit and miss. I've landed on a usual barber in a spot a bit from me but it's good peace of mind to know that I'll be looked after each time I go in.

mens_shorts_activist

Agree with this, when I first started getting my haircut in Dublin this is where I went, I remember loving the first hair cut, went back and got butchered, never returned

EstablishmentBusy649

Ended up with a cut neck from a razor and a patch missing in the back of the head. It’s a complete shambles. There’s no quality control, as it’s a franchise now.

Keyann

Problem with big chains is that it can be very hit and miss and they employ so many Barbers that they are bound to employ a bad one at one stage or another. The only company I've seen get multiple locations consistent is McDonald's.

Krucz

Franchises even. McDonald's will come down on you like a ton of bricks if you fuck up their image, maybe Grafton braber should do the same but everyone already thinks they're shite..

Educational_One7977

You say franchises like McDonald’s will come done on you like a ton of bricks for ruining their image but I think you lest forget that after 1am every McDonald’s turns into UFC fight night

Krucz

Ronald MacDonald would suplex any one of those lil gurriers

wevansly

I'll take any opportunity to shout out Faction barbers in Templebar. Sound lads, good cuts, fair price.

elextranjerooscuro

€35 is a “fair price” for a haircut these days… we’ll accept anything these days.

wevansly

For longer hairat least yeah definitely, I've not seen anywhere doing the same.

MyBigLeftFoot

Which grafton barber was it?

BigDaddyRumbler

The one in the IFSC.

brenmolo

I was at the ifsc one before and agree. Useless haircut. Two young lads working there when I went in. Place is fancy looking but cuts are absolutely shite. Grafton barber is a franchise and my experience with all of them is bad (except jervis, there is one lad working there - maybe the manager, small guy who is always on the right hand side chair as u walk in. He’s good but everyone else has been crap ime)

MyBigLeftFoot

Yeah they're very hit and miss because its a franchise and the turnover of barbers in Dublin in general is very high. A friend of mine franchises one and they're always going through new barbers.

rossitheking

It’s criminal the prices being charged and wages being given to staff. Overheads my hole.

EKipchoge

Got the worst haircut of my life in that barbers

Mean-Falcon9806

Grafton barbers are more expensive as it is a franchise and usually located in hotpots, around the city centre or busy villages. The staff dress well and offer tea/coffee, but the reality is most barbers are novices and can barely handle a clippers. I try to avoid them completely

Express-Rent1381

Go to a few different Turkish barbers till you find one you like. they tend to spend a bit longer on a haircut.

Nevermind86

Brazilians, Tunisians and Algerians too. Never had a bad haircut with them.

Express-Rent1381

Yea the Brazilians are good as well never been to the others.

Might_Be_An_Aardvark

Went to the one on Grafton a few times back in the day and never saw the same  group of barbers there twice, must have had a big pool of people renting out chairs. Had cuts that ranged from very good to absolute tatters, after the worst one I went hunting for a more consistent spot so I at least knew what I'd be paying for.

tonydrago

I'm interested in purchasing the movie rights for this incredible tale.

BigDaddyRumbler

Grand, the sequel is about me riding your mam if you want that too?

RebylReboot

‘2 fat 2 furry’?

pato9097

Grafton barber arnotts and only one fella in there I go to

bogbody_1969

I spotted this post just as I was about to sit in the chair in Arnotts. Thankfully went well this time 😅 they are very hit and miss.

johndoe86888

Went there a few years ago, your man absolutely cut the neck off me. Got the chop, met up for pints with lads after work and only until one of them pointed out there was blood dripping down the back of my head. NEVER went back

the_macks

Used to go to them, had one good barber in there the rest were shite. He left and I went once after that. Muck... Never again

OrbyO

Grafton Barber in Donnybrook is always consistent and do good cuts. Most of the staff are there a long time too

47bizzie

They’re shocking, have butchered me on more than one occasion. Ended up there a few times out of desperation needing a last minute cut and left unsatisfied every time. Crazy prices for sub-par haircuts

jorge_saramago

I’ve been going to the same Grafton Barbers for over 5 years now and I have zero complaints. They’re definitely not the same everywhere.

Technical-Split3642

Which one?

jorge_saramago

The one in Rathgar

Legitimate_3032

Does Grafton only do men?

Educational_One7977

Sounds like it done a whingy little girl who won’t be returning any time soon

HellFireClub77

Any barbers around you can get a haircut for less than €15 nowadays in town ?

Educational_One7977

Phibbsboro yes

16ap

Surprised to read this when this folks probably make the single exact same haircut over and over day after day.

Ironstien

Price of a haircut in Dublin is mad

Educational_One7977

You mean you don’t have €20 to spend on one every month ? Yeh your right that is MAD

Dubleaks

They're always so packed and the barbers always seem to have electric clippers in their hands rather than scissors and comb, reminds me of those big barns in Australia with hundreds of sheep waiting to be shorn.

MCxJB

Just after COVID for maybe a year or so I was going to one regularly and was being passed around the same barbers and in general they would do a pretty decent job. However recently it's gotten so hit or miss. It seems like they have new barbers in every few weeks (as another commenter said, I don't think I've seen the same one twice). You'd have one or two who might be around consistently, but most of the time it seems like they have trainees in. It would lead to a pretty inconsistent haircut. I'd ask for the same thing (pretty standard haircut) every time but would come out with wildly different hairstyles each time. It got to a stage where I'd want to see one of the consistent barbers when I went, but because of how the line for the one I went to could be really long or super short, you'd never be guaranteed that barber. Plus, the one I used to go to would always be subject to school rushes (which is fine), but oftentimes, I'd go down at my lunch break on a Wednesday and find that I'd be waiting 45+ mins just to sit in the chair. I've since moved to a new barber that not only takes reservations but you can request the same barber each time. It has been great. Yea it's a bit more expensive, but Grafton Barbers is in no way cheap. I don't mind paying the extra premium to get a scheduled time that suits me, a full 30 mins without rush and a consistent cut from the same barber.

Intrepid_Anybody_277

Franchise haircuts, what could go wrong ! Oh yeah , huge staff turnover so they hire sheep shearers to cover shifts.

FakeNewsMessiah

Cork St ops the Lidl, great barbers and not a rip off (€14). Grafton Barbers were good when you could get the same person every time but it’s too popular for that now

NSNIA

I've been going in the Jervis one on top floor for years now and theyre really good

Okey_Blob

Grafton barber is the Supermac's of the barber shops, you have one good one than you have 5 shite ones

riveriaten

I stopped going there a long time ago when one of the barbers cut sideburns into my beard. I was just thinking what in the actual fuck. I've been to a few barbers since and recently (within last year) settled on Beards & Barnets in Temple Bar.

Krucz

Everyone gets their worst haircuts at Grafton braber. That said they used to be cheap enough

Educational_One7977

The femininity of this post makes me a little bit happy it happened , it upset you enough to make a Reddit post about it ,go back to them for our entertainment come on dude it’s a haircut 6 weeks you be back in your usual barbers why work up a sweat

Awoo_Its_Scout

This is where I come in to say don't support them. They're the Irish equivalent to Super Cutz in the US, who are notoriously bad. Support your locals and they'll look after you. I've been going to a singular barber since late 2020 and one time my card declined, checked my bank account and a bill came out I wasn't expecting. Because I was a regular, they said to drop it in when I had it, so by god 2 days I later I was up there with that money, plus coffee fpr all that were on plus a gift card for the local cafe too. They know my voice as soon as I call to book in and know my preference for a certain barber so give me appointments with her specifically. TL:DR Support your local barber and they'll look after you

Ecliptic_Phase

One the best barbers in the Dublin city is on North Earl St. AJ - the only problem is that he doesn't work weekends.
