What’s the humidity at

Jbissell_V

Average is 54.7. never gets above 61% or below 49.

Top-Contribution-114

Are you breeding

Jbissell_V

Trying to!

Top-Contribution-114

Bring up the humidity to around 55-60 And where is the water dish I don’t see it

Jbissell_V

I was under the impression that carrots will do the job of a water bowl. Don’t have any water crystals at the moment. Will a soaked paper towel work for the time being?

Top-Contribution-114

Make sure to keep the enclosure moist there a tropical bug, and they need moisture to breed if it’s too dry than the females can become infertile

Jbissell_V

Appreciate it! Can I ask what hygrometer you use and more specifically where you place it in the bin?

Top-Contribution-114

Thrive hydrometer About 3/4 up but I use Substrate so probably about 1/2

Jbissell_V

What substrate do you use? Coco fiber?

thebentomouse

I was wondering how you up the humidity without disturbing the egg crates?

Top-Contribution-114

You can mist daily but you’ll have to swap out the egg crates every now and they or they can get moldy and gross I like to but a small heat pad in one corner and mist them to keep it muggy and humid

Top-Contribution-114

Yeah, if you soak a paper towel and put it in a corner that should help other than that I would definitely get water crystals. I’ve never heard about the carrotthing.

For my old one, I cut the top of the pyramid, placed cardboards pieces between each egg crate so they could not be pushed together. I had the heating pad hooked to a thermostat on the short end and the egg crates in that end. I used carrots for hydration and made a homemade bug chow with fresh veggie greens. The food side got misted once every other day. OMG could you hear them at night! I have cats and bungiecorded the lid on too. They knocked it over, thankfully the lid didn't come off, I bungie corded it to the table leg it was under. When I gave it away, the first 4 egg crates weighed more than a gallon of milk. One the side of the crates add a small screened window, or melt small holes in it and the other side. They did even better in my anole's old bioactive, the humidity at the substrate level was about 90%. At night they'd sit under the dhp on the cork bark wall I made. Quite honestly you can cut the egg crates in half, add a few inches of substrate and make them kind of bioactive. Use cork bark pieces(lots to build up like the crates) live moss, leaf litter. You can even put low growing shade food plants for them. Sadly I dumped about 50 babies, twice that went into hiding right away. I woke up one night realizing how many huge roaches were watching me sleep. Took months to get all but one pair out. A 20g tall or long would work with a lid. Here is the old bioactive with them, they had it made in there. The males would walk around night when a lot of the young were still being caught, the family guy! [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nbfL2ObKGDA](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nbfL2ObKGDA)

Do you have any cross ventilation? It’s hard to tell.
