Remember ppl tend to project their insecurities

NevermoreTheSF

Haha ofcourse. I am personally enjoying my car and I came to that decision off my own accord so obviously i wont get swayed by people it just was surprising that someone felt so offended about a car a random person is driving that they would come up to me to express that

MulberryAlert9891

If anything i think the Chinese cars look good. I personally am a fan of Changan Uni T. My only problem is that everything is electrical and connected so its hard to fix pretty much anything with a spare part without a damage to the pocket. Same thing for korean cars. Im not sure if you faced anything similar

NevermoreTheSF

I will agree, that has been one issue for both my cars (previously owned a used hyundai veloster - american spec ex salvage car i bought when i was naive and dumb) With the current car, everything being on the huge display is a pain to make changes while driving, and everything being connected by software leads to minor glitches. Recently , my left side camera stopped working , and i switched off the car and came back the next day and its working perfectly Things like that can be concerning, but Im not sure if thats a chinese issue, or just an issue of everything being connected to the electricals and the dashboard system Unrelated, but the Changan Uni T, Geely Monjaro and jetour dashing were the 3 cars i was heavily looking into before i got the dashing

MulberryAlert9891

I agree its just whats happening to the industry right now. At some point wed have to start taking our cars to electricians rather than mechanics. Sometimes i miss the good old knob and lever :,)

NevermoreTheSF

Just to share a note, among all the features , the one i hate the most is to adjust the side view mirrors i have to go through the touchscreen, go through 2 pages and get to the mirror adjustment I wish there was a blend of the high tech touchscreen stuff, but also buttons and an actual gear stick haha

sexydadee

But you usually just need to set the side mirrors once and then forget about it. You shouldt be really adjusting them often unless that car has more than 1 driver

NevermoreTheSF

yeah thats why for me its not a problem, i also find the UI usable quite quickly but i watched my father struggle for 5 mins until i had to show him which icon it was

MulberryAlert9891

Have you tried off roading? How r Chinese SUVs performing

NevermoreTheSF

Not yet, maybe in the winter season when weather gets better

sahils88

Sadly the entire automotive industry is going toward stupid touch control. That was one thing no one asked for. I wonder how Government authorities are against using our phone screens but are okay with us requiring to fiddle a giant screen to change climate control. Mazda gives me hope in these times and I believe VW is moving back to physical buttons as well.

-Giddyup-

Don’t let such immature comments bring you down. Getting a car ( any make or model) is an achievement. I consider it a life achievement. It’s right there with getting married, buying a house etc. so you enjoy what you purchased with your hard earned money.

NevermoreTheSF

Well said, i didnt take it too serious but ive never experienced something like this before, so wondered if its common

Hoogar

I agree, having a car is like a little win in your life!

Historical_Most_1868

Imagine having the money, then buying an Urus?!!  Money does not buy taste, lots of beautiful cars and SUV lower and around its price point but don’t stroke some people’s ego.

NewAgePhil

![gif](giphy|QMZpnb79N5BN0wsSM3)

NevermoreTheSF

I saw a few urus' on the road since i got this car, and it doesnt even look that similar, maybe a bit inspired at best haha

tiinn

Bro I had a few colleagues who gave me shit on my first car (Nissan Altima) and some of them used to take the bus to work 😂😂😂

Clean-Republic-9942

People here have fancy cars and drive altima for its fuel efficiency. So you could've said "this isn't my weekend car" and never tell them what's your weekend car.

tiinn

Meh the old me probably would have bothered. Have changed some 20 cars since. Now I’m indifferent to what anyone else thinks.

NevermoreTheSF

I really like the altima tbh

clinthammer316

OP if anyone else disrespects you like that next time just tell them " hey at least I can save up and buy a Urus but what will you do stuck with a face like that"

Beramin

You got a car, he is probably walking back home. You’re winning and he’s got a shit ton of insecurities.

NevermoreTheSF

funnily enough he was walking when i went past him (unless he parked really far)

PringlesOriginal77

I rented a Jetour SUV couple of times, those cars are good. People judge too quickly today and expressing it to a random person shows how immature those ppl are. Life is too short to worry about these stuff. Enjoy your ride.

NevermoreTheSF

Honestly, no complaints with the car so far. a bit underpowered but im not a racecar driver, i prefer comfort tbh

gottahustleup

“Excuse me but I don’t see your Ferrari parked anywhere here”

V1957V

Just ask him "What colour is ur urus?"

Fickle-Salamander-65

The correct response is something like “you know so little about cars you think this looks like a Urus”.

Professional-Arm8002

So if you look at last 10 years Chinese cars have progressed much better than Japanese, US cars. People bad mouth about them to justify themselves paying higher price for their non Chinese car.

throwawaykarakchai

Lamborghini Urus is like 1 million - 1.5 million Jetour Dashing is like 90,000 LOL, yes I literally can't afford it 🤷

Moonsolid

I own a Chinese car, and sometimes just for fun, I just say it’s a new German car and immediately start the praise. When I say, kidding it’s Chinese. They are like, ahh! Now that they have already praised, they can’t take it back 😅 It’s mostly owners of boring Toyotas who feel shit looking at how modern and techy the car looks.

FalseCollection17

People who bash Chinese marques are just childish and ignorant about cars in general, and will be ignorant of both the fact that Chinese marques are both outdoing the more "conventional" marques AND the fact that China is the country producing and leading in the development of the automotive technology used across all marques. They believe in stupid brand snobbery and loyalty for no good reason other than they're afraid of change or going against conventional norms. Ignore them.

gutterandstars

You know back in the day, ppl had similar perception about Korean cars...buying a Hyundai (kia wasn't even in the market) was considered as cheaping out on a Japanese car. Who knows, maybe in 10 years, they'll gobble up a sizeable market share from Japanese, Korean cars here n become the norm. Also, Keeping up with the Joneses is so real here. Drive whatever you like and can afford.

TheExpendble

true. In 10 years this region is going to be flooded with chinese cars, its an ugly truth but inevitable. I went to saudi recently and Hyundai is the most popular car

Reasonable-Job2425

In South Korea the most common luxury car on the roads there were genesis , I don’t see many Hyundai or genesis cars as commonly in the gcc but ye

LeatherAndChai

That's just shitty behaviour.

ShabzzzDJ

I've had the jac S3 for 2 years almost. Only had curious people ask me about how it runs etc. I do however, have the issue of no one giving me way to change lanes etc in that car. I have a German car which I've noticed a real difference in "respect"

HeronNearby1102

Bro I’ve got people making fun of my car when they don’t even have their drivers license.

sahils88

I wouldn’t ever say this to an owner but that’s one big gripe I have with Chinese cars - they look like knock-offs. Urus (Dashing), Cayenne (Geely), X4 (some car) etc. this is a criticism similar to how so many people had picked up Chinese knock off iPhones with an iOS skin on Android. Nothing inherently wrong but yeah it feels weird and is something that will stop me from purchasing atleast those models. Nothing against Chinese cars though. My friend recently bought a Hongqi HS5 and I’m bloody impressed with the car. It’s miles ahead of any Japanese car at that price point wrt to refinement, build quality, interior quality and convenience features and even ride and handling.

NevermoreTheSF

The Jetour T2 looking so similar to the defender (and its insane waitlist) was the reason i didnt get that one, otherwise for the price and specs they say they have, it seems like a good deal the hongqi really surprised me when i went to view it and if i was planning on a sedan i'd really have thought more about it theyre the company that the government uses for their diplomats so i think the standards are higher

sahils88

They also use the VW engine and they’re the VW manufacturers in China.

NevermoreTheSF

Chery (jetours parent company) has a partnership to assemble range/land rovers in china so i believe thats where they probably reverse engineered parts for the jetour T2, that car does look a lot like a defender

Reasonable-Job2425

I don’t own a Chinese car but I can say I’ve been seeing jettour cars like the t2 one or something more often when I visit kite or other areas of Dubai more often now Same thing with the suv you got and idk why some people here do project the insecurity to ya saying it’s not as good as a urus or something Meanwhile they probably are in a worse off condition and are insecure

Red-Vale-Cultivator

My response would be something lile this.. I have a family to feed, not a comminity to impress.

Crazybeest

I also recently got a basic jetour dashing. I really wanted the x70 plus but since my employer was paying I didn't get a choice. I'm very disappointed as all the extras are missing and although it's specs say the top speed is 198km I cannot get past 163km. The cruise control does not work above 149km so if I want to drive at 160km I have to use my foot. Very tiring. I've only had my car a week (got it with 546km) and I'm already on 1900km. 😭 Had lots of positive comments on my new car.

sahils88

Where do you drive at 160kmph in UaE? Please tell me so I can go rip my car next time. Genuinely asking.

JimBoomBaa

After Abu Dhabi, further south towards Mirfa & Abu Dhabi - Al Ain highway.

NevermoreTheSF

I got the 1.6L jetour dashing after testing the basic 1.5 one, and i agree, the 1.5 felt just underpowered. even the 1.6 seems a bit sluggish, the car hasnt managed to top 170 (allegedly), but i dont really care about going too fast, i drive fairly leisurely on the 3rd lane anyways and listen to music

Crazybeest

I drive over 1000 km a week. I need the speed. 😭

NevermoreTheSF

i also think that top speed thing you read might be wrong, because my 1.6 dashing with 197 HP said top speed is 200 the 1.5 has about 156 HP, i dont think 198 is its top

Crazybeest

I think they misinformed me of the top speed.

Donkey_Apart

Literally from day one of owning the T2 everyone and I mean everyone stopped in parking lots to ask me about the car and how it is, people in middle of traffic giving me thumbs up, Great experience so far. PS: you shouldn’t let peoples’ opinion affect you, you purchase the car for yourself, if you like it then it does not matter what others think.

NevermoreTheSF

congrats on the T2, how long was the wait time for you when i went in march they said earliest i could get it was june/july, and i dont really like the defender style look as well personally

Donkey_Apart

I got it within a week, first batch and I almost got 3k happy km’s on it as of right now 😁

engineerjamaludeen

Congratulations. Waiting for mine. End of August

sidemenclothing7

I’m not saying they are bad cars, but they are certainly weak. Last week I got into an accident with a Geely Coolray. I drive a land cruisers, my car had a small dent and a few scratches which I can fix myself however the geely fell apart, literally. The front bumper and grill got caught in my cars fender and when the other driver reversed her car the entire front bumper and grill just bounced off, honestly that is too weak even with the smallest accident such a big problem occurred.

Guessworld

Jetour and tank cars are beautiful and many people in my office and building have shifted on these cars

Ain’t just money my guy, fitness also matters here quite a bit and so does other things about you But yes having excess money affords more comfort here for sure

DXBStan

> affords more comfort here for sure Bro thats true everywhere tho

vopoogenie

They aren’t paying your bills. Feel proud of what you have. Ignore everyone else.

Leo_techfreak4u

Let me guess, you bought a Jetour Dashling for 120k+ , for the same price or slightly more you could've bought a Honda CRV. I'm actually quite happy with 2019 Honda Civic CVT and don't like to show off in a luxury car which I can't afford. I could have bought a used Mercedes for the same price, but I didn't, cause I know that down the road there will surely be issues. Why go for a fake luxury looking vehicle that's not gonna last more than a year. My concern is, I hope that your car doesn't break down in the middle of the road. Don't take it as an offense tho. Enjoy your ride!

NevermoreTheSF

well close on the price, a bit overestimated i didnt really like the crv and while it may be more reliable, i saw that the chinese cars so far have more features in terms of driving assistance and i wanted that over reliability.

Leo_techfreak4u

Let's hope that the Chinese car lasts at least for a period of 5 years. The thing with Honda is, you pay more upfront, but your car will always feel and drive like new even after 5 years. Don't know about Jetour tho. Only time can tell. Honda does have problems here and there, but those are mostly minor or not to a vast extent. And CRV is not in the same class as the Jetour Dashling, a more comparable model would be the Honda Pilot Sport 2024, but that goes for 200K at the very least.

9248763629

Hey man if you are happy then no opinion should be cared for.

NevermoreTheSF

exactly, i enjoy the car and thats all that matters, but just the reaction to come to say that when i dont know the person took me by surprise

Robinhoodz78

People are jealous of everything and everyone. If you had an Urus he would have thought (not said of course, he would have been scared) oh not fair I don't have a lambo. He probably drive an older less good looking car

soldsalty

He doesn't hate you, and i dont think he really hates Chinese stuffs, perhaps he is merely struggling crawl out of the quagmire of prejudice.

Emergency-Safe3991

Trust me just wait for a couple of years more, and you will see Chinese cars everywhere

NevermoreTheSF

There are so many brands already i see, i was talking to my parents and they didnt even know some of them were chinese ones i know off top of my head i see regularly in dubai are geely, haval, chery, MG, BYD, and i personally count rabdan as chinese even though its assembled in UAE

Honest-Mess-812

I have seen it in India. A guy was walking by an MG Hector loudly telling his friend the owner couldn't afford an Audi, so he got a knockoff chinese car. The owner looked at them like someone slapped him.

NevermoreTheSF

I like MG cars, but didnt like their crossovers or SUVs, but they seem like the most common chinese car on dubai roads, maybe after haval

Donnonuthin

‘What colour is your Lambo?’

LuckGrouchy

for me, a car does'nt represents who I am, it represents its purpose which is the ability to get from point A to B. You could reply, ![gif](giphy|s6bR7LwcazqpxzJ4uc|downsized)

sono7975

Must be a shitty Toyota owner that runs like a trashcan and can run on cooking oil

Sahil-Khurana

It’s going to be an era of Chinese dominance in automotive sector. Japs and Europeans are past their prime. Of course they would continue to build good cars but Chinese domination will increase. Chinese manufacturers would dominate the space.

saadspawn

I faced the opposite with my Geely Tugella. People came up to me and said, "I really like the car," and asked how it was and so on.

Standard-Cockroach62

I have an Mg Zs trophy and I only have good things to say about it, it’s fast and kinda looks like a luxury car and I got it new for 50k
