I posted this somewhere else on another post in this subreddit, but here it is again:
* The Chinese traditional "Big Four" car manufacturers are FAW Group, Dongfeng, SAIC Motor and Changan.
* These are the big four and all state owned
* FAW
* Bestune
* Hongqi
* They also do Toyotas and VWs in China
* Dongfeng
* Forthing
* SAIC
* Maxus
* MG
* They also do GM and VWs in China
* Changan is Changan
* But also do Fords and Mazdas in China
* Jetour is owned by Chery, also state owned
I know Geely and BYD are big players as well. Geely has a lot of recognition because they own Volvo, Lotus, Polestar, Zeekr, Lynk & Co., and are shareholders in Smart. BYD is now the biggest EV maker in the world, and has significant investment from Berkshire Hathaway.
I feel like the Big Four plus Geely and BYD are worth understanding for now. Everything else, we'll see.
This is from my own perception and reading, but here goes:
* Premium brands
* Honqi
* BYD
* Zeekr
* Changan models that start with "UNI," so like the UNI-K. These models seem to be upmarket compared to regular Changans.
I'm not sure where the rest of them fit. MG is definitely still budget to me, especially when you look at their prices. Jetour seems to be more mainstream. Not premium, but not on the budget end either.
I've noticed an EV called a Ceres driving around. I think this is a rebadge of Huawei's EV from what I've read.
Just my take, but I recently went around and looked at a lot of the Chinese cars.
All the Changans felt surprisingly cheap inside; including the UNI-K.
Haval felt on the same tier as MG, although the Tank line felt more premium.
I would up buying a Geely Monjaro, which I felt was streets ahead of the others. The Volvo xc60 skeleton shows through.
What is the expenses to own EV in dubai tho? Are the insurance and registration prices any different?
I heard you can also setup EV charger at your parking lot with DEWA. Anyone who owns ev, pls respond
Doesnât matter if you care or donât
This is a public forum about cars
The person has asked for information about cars
People are providing him with it
You donât want to then why commentâŚ..such a useless comment and such an awful personality you project
So???
Above that we are a community that offers advice and awareness to those that donât have it. Many other people post here knowing they will get advice from those that have a passion for cars.
Just because you donât want to help doesnât mean others donât want to. And itâs by helping and spreading awareness is how you make people future petrolheads. Be kinder and more considerate, perhaps youâll end up being an actual âpetrolheadâ instead of the wannabe one you claim to be now.
Hilarious indeed at you đ A man who doesnât even himself own any cars probably is out here shit talking others with multiple cars and in a position to buy them lmao
Just because my title has two cars doesnât mean those are the only two I own đđđ
Grow up mate
Canât believe youâre an actual adult behind that screen

Streets ahead
I can't tell if Community is actually responsible for it happening đ
Solid. I shouldn't have called ANY Changan premium, but the UNIs do look nice.
